Importing Outlook Tasks in the Project 2010 Standard
When I import Outlook tasks in the project, only task name is imported but not duration, resource, start, and finish. Is that typical behavior?
Thanks Julie! I had asked this "How do I make my plan do what I expect/want to see? I understand that there may be nothing wrong with the behavior I am seeing in this process
and it could be that I have to do something different to include limited resource capacity
per day and not per task." the suggested solution of resource leveling doesn't accomplish the behavior I am trying to set.
As mentioned before, I want all resources to be available 80%
per project not by task. Meaning they should be fully assigned to any task up to 6.4 hours and any allocation beyond 6.4 hours should be pushed to the next working day.
Please advise.

I’m in the progress to roll out a software deployment via SCCM 2012, it’s to remove the current Project 2010 Professional we installed and reinstall the Standard version. We got a task sequence for the job, which is Reboot>Un-install Project 2010 Pro>Reboot>Install
Project 2010 Std.
The Un-installation process uses this command: setup.exe /uninstall PrjPro /config "PrjPro.WW\uninstall.xml"
The Installation process uses this command: setup.exe /adminfile project_silent_install.MSP
But the deployment result is quite random, some of the PCs would succeed without any issue, some of them with fail at the installation process with 1708/1603 error. As far as I know we use standard Win 7 64bits SOE across the environment, so everyone should
have same system baseline.

I came across the new requirement of my project . My client is looking for the below functionalities. Please let me know the possibilities.
1.How do you assign a specific task to the Project Team member and how do you know its progress -
2. If you login from Solman system to other system ( satellite systems ) executing T-codes under Transaction Tab of SOLAR01 , after landing to the satellite system - if we really doesnt have satellite system ids - though able to logged in , if we create any new transaction like - Sales orders , Bilings , etc - on whose name it will be recorded.
3. What are the standard reports we can get from Solman apart from Solar_eval , Actually looking for the reports for Project status or its progress perspectivie.

are you referring user ids here? i mean you dont have an id in the satellite system but in solution manager you have.
In this case you shouldn't be login to the satellite system. In your Trusted RFC refer check whether current user is enabled or not.
Please note person who is running Tcode from solar01 should have the same user id in satellite with Trusted authorizations on both systems.

Sorting grouped tasks in MS Project 2010
Dear Forum,
I created a view and grouped the tasks in MS Project 2010. The following problem comes up: As I can only change between "ascending" and "descending" while creating the Group, all my tasks sort alphabetically but I want to have them
arranged in chronological order. When I try to sort them, they stay as they are.
One solution I could think of would be to add for example numbers in front of my tasks (e.g. 1_task1, 2_task2..) so Project would arrange them accordingly but that would not look nice, neither would I have to Change it manually each time.
Another solution would be to create a custom field including the sequence and then Group my tasks accordingly but I was wondering if any of you folks know any smart solution to this problem?

I'm using PWA 2010 and open up a portfolio of projects at one time. The best work around I have found is remove the grouping, insert the field called "Project", and then sort by Project, then by start date.

As you know, I am using Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 for my current portal project. I have created JSR-168 JSF Portlet Project for my portlet development.

I did the followings steps:
1: In side the project - File -> Add Existing Item -> Web Page ( imported test.html page from my local folder)
2: Let it convert some of the tags for me ( so now it becomes - �test.jsp� )
3: Set it to initial view.
4. A default portlet page � newPortletPage.jsp is still there with no initial view.
Now after doing this, No Visual Designer and Properties window available to for that �test.jsp� page. Though it allowed me to �build� the project successfully.
When I build and run the portlet application, got the error message �Error occurred in portlet!� on Pluto Portal. Please advice.You do not open fcpproject files. You don't double click or anything else. The files have to be in the correct folder structure in the Final Cut Projects folder and the application opens them automatically. Can you post screen shots of the Final Cut Projects folder and its location.

I have an old project with AVCHD clips and I want to import the clips again with surround sound. How can I relink the project clips to the re-imported ones without doing the project from the begining?
I have a sony handicam and I imported the clips to iMovie and they lost quality and converted the audio to stereo. I want to import the project to final cut X and import the AVCHD in 1080p and surround sound and export the movie in bluray. Can I relink the clips without editing everything again?
thanks!Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from a computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing. If you want to remove them all then normally you could just sync an empty folder (in terms of photos) to the iPad, but as you don't want to sync at the moment you can't do that.
You can reset the iPad back to factory settings and start from scratch with it : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings -
Create view that shows resource work in hours per month for top level tasks on the project
I'm relatively new to project so hopefully this is easy.
The management for the organization I am working at now wants me to break out every resource on the projects hours by top level tasks per month. Resource usage gets very close but I can't figure out how to make it show only the top level tasks. Does anyone

I'd suggest (assuming you're working with Project Standard, not connected to Project Server) to generate a visual Excel report (project tab of the ribbon, then visual report), choosing the Budget work report template. Then in Excel, inserting the resource
and task column, you'll see the work consolidated at any task level by resources.

Ok, I am working on a rather large project schedule.
Before having to upgrade to Project 2013, the file was used in Project 2007.
Basically I am having a problem with moving tasks only to have them still respect their old predecessor instead of just the new one.
Basically I have 4 tasks ( with start dates): Task A: 1st of month, Task B: 5th of month, Task C: 9th of month, Task D: 13th of month.
I would want to move say Task D infront of Task B and have it go A/1st, D/5th, B/9th, C/13th. But all that happens is that the tasks change order but all the dates remain with their original tasks. This wasn't a problem before Project 2013.
Is there any fix for this outside of having to unlink and relink every time I make change?GarrettW23,
You're right, it doesn't work the same in Project 2010 & later as it did in Project 2007 and earlier. The feature you desire is controlled by the option setting to autolink inserted or moved tasks. As far as I can tell there is a bug that was likely
introduced when manual scheduling was added to Project 2010. Now, if the option is set, two links will be set up, the original link to the old predecessor and a new one to the new predecessor.
I'm surprised this bug hasn't been fixed but I guess it's not something a lot of users have an issue with. Meanwhile, edit your links after drag and drop as Rod suggests.

How to import Outlook Tasks as iCal To Do's?
My wife is moving from a PC to a Mac. She used Outlook on the PC. We've used O2M from Little Machines to successfully convert all her email, contacts, and calendar from Outlook. But that utility doesn't convert Outlook Tasks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to import her large Task list into iCal? Thanks for any pointers.

Running MS-Project 2007 12.0.4518.1014 MSO (12.0.6607.1000) non-server edition. The Project was created on July 17, 12. It has gone through 162 revisions w/o presenting this warning. The date range is 7/17/12 thru 5/3/13. The task
I'm changing (#16) shows a Start of 8/17/12 and Finish of 1/14/13; it has no Predecessors or Successors. I'm changing the %comp to 100% and I get the warning message "You moved task 264 of 'project name' to start Sat Jan 1, '84. This is before
the project start date (Tue Jul 17, '12)". I have tried changing other tasks with the same resulting warning message. I have tried breaking the Predecessor link to the last task only to be told of another task being moved to Jan 1, '84.
If I accept the move, 51 of the 264 rows (both completed and future tasks) are moved to start on 1/1/84 with everyone being flagged as a Milestone--the top summary task [Outline Seq 1] Start and Finish change from 7/17/12-5/3/13 to 8/17/12-2/19/13.
Any thoughts as to what is happening behind the scenes to cause this warning and subsequent corruption of the plan?I will need to check w/FLS to determine--they control patching and releases. As for your other questions...fixed start, every task is ASAP constrained by task sequencing only. I've never ask MS-Project to Resource, Load Level. Calculations
are Automatic. There are three tasks that have a SF relationship to a specific event such that their start is backward scheduled from when the dependent task starts depending upon the task sequences that drive it. I have used this approach on many
other projects and have never run into this issue.
I agree that it sounds like a file corruption--just looking to nail down which event might have caused the corruption so that I can restore to a prior version and rebuild [obviously HOPING to eliminate the sequence that caused the file to be corrupted in

"Late" implies a comparison between two dates. One is the finish date of the task; do you mean current date is the other one?
In other words, are you looking for tasks with a planned finish date before today, but not yet finished?
That implies you will not really track your project, meaning that when a task's plan changes, that will impact the planning of other tasks so your planned finish date could be moving al the time.. I have the impression that in your mind, the original plan
will always be "the plan". And the utility of a baselin is that it is an immovable copy of that original plan - such that you can enter actual start/finish dates when reality strikes..
By all means, you could set a formula in a flag field to show the definition of Late as I guess you have in mind:
iif([% Complete]<100;IIf((projdatediff([Finish];Now())>0);No;Yes);No)

I might be wrong but the Prevent AD Sync details are not available in the Reporting db. Maybe you can check the published/draft databases (not supported) or you can configure a separate custom field and you can duplicate the information for each user
into this field. The custom field can be used in the reports based on the reporting database.

My iPad synchs my Outlook tasks via the iCloud, but my iPhone does not.

I've updated my iPad and iPhone to iOS 5. I've also added the iCloud client to my Windows 7 machine running Outlook 2007.
New tasks that are added into Outlook synch via the iCloud to my iPad, like I would expect. They appear in a 'Tasks' list within the Reminders app itself.
However, on my iPhone which connects to the iCloud using the same Apple ID as my iPad, there are no Tasks! In fact, there isn't even an empty Tasks list (the tasks list was created on the iPad after the first synch).
If I create a new Reminder (not a task) on my iPad, that synchs accross between iPad and iPhone via the cloud. It simply seems the Tasks are only eligable for synching between Outlook and iPads... not iPhones?
