IMS 5.2 IMAP and keep copy on server / receive emails problem

Hi everyone,
Here is my problem: I ve installed iMS 5.2 Patch 1 with NDS 4.16 on a Windows 2000 server env.
I configured one main domain and 2 other domains. Everything was going perfectly, but I remarked a strange problem early: I ve my outlook configured to keep a copy of my emails on the server and sometimes I connect to my account via the webmail and thee is no more emails. The mailbpx is empty. I have to reconnect 10 min. later and there, my emails are back...
I have the same problem with my outlook. I am using IMAP protocol and sometimes my outlook says there is no emails in my folder. I ve to wait the next day to recover my emails (or I have to connect via my webmail). If I use the POP protocol, Outlook (or another email client) consider that the new emails received are not new and then it doesn't recover them in my local mailbox. If I wait some time, then, it recovers EVERY email in my webmailbox (even if they already existed in my local mailbox, that creates a lot of double copies of each emails). Is there a way to avoid this and to make sure that it doesn't download every old email each time ? I tried this on a PC with outlook as the client and on a Mac with Entourage as the client and it does the same on both machines.
Could please someone light my lantern because I am a bit lost. I searched a lot for an explanation but did not found any.
Thank you very much, Frdric

In your imta.cnf:
In the channel blocks, tcp_local now reads:
! tcp_local
tcp_local mailfromdnsverify smtp mx remotehost inner switchchannel identnonelimited subdirs 20 maxjobs 1 pool SMTP_POOL maytlsserver maysaslserver saslswitchchannel tcp_auth sourcebrightmail backoff "pt30m" "pt1h"
I just added "sourcebrightmail" to the line.
In the option.dat, I added these lines. You will need to use the actual path/filenames on your system:
BRIGHTMAIL_CONFIG_FILE=/usr/iplanet/server5/msg-dusty/imta/config/SpamAssassin
BRIGHTMAIL_LIBRARY=/usr/iplanet/server5/bin/msg/imta/lib/libspamass.so
BRIGHTMAIL_NULL_ACTION=data:,require "fileinto"; fileinto "SPAM"
After making the changes,
imsimta cnbuild
imsimta restart dispatcher.
I made one other change, in the start-msg script, by adding this line:
/usr/download/spamassassin/spamd -a &
so that spamd is started whenever I start iMS.

  • I am not receiving my yahoo email on both my IPhone 6 and IPad Air.  I tried deleting the account and reinstalling but still not receiving email.  I can access email if I go thru Safari to the yahoo mail page.

I am not receiving yahoo email on my IPhone 6 and IPad Air, both are iOS 8.2.  I can only access email by going thru Safari to the yahoo mail page.  I tried to delete the yahoo account on the phone and reinstalled, to no avail.  Any suggestions how to fix this problem?

My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

  • Hourglass keeps flashing? stopped receiving emails? BECAUSE OF FACBOOK APP!!

Got a blackberry a month ago, and after two weeks of loving it...the hourglass started constantly flashing and I stopped receiving emails. Took it to the Sprint Store and they did an exchange.  And then two weeks later..with my NEW blackberry, it happens again!! Am I the Blackberry kiss of Death?!  nooo..after a lot of research, I saw a lot of ppl were having the same problem which was fixed after deleting the facebook application. so sure enough I did that...     and POOF.... all my emails came immediately and the hourglass- GONE!!!    apparantley theres a problem b/c of the new FB interface?! im surprised by all the  Blackberry experts saying things like..check ur memory or close your applications esp b/c most ppl who post this problem have just recently gotten their phones.
How to delete facebook?   Options---> Adv Options---> Applications---> Facebook ----> hit the menu button and delete.... your phone will re-start and ur emails will magically appear        however, someone needs to fix the facebook problem...but they should at least first KNOW ABOUT IT!!!

Glad you got that figured out.
However, I see many posts each day asking this question and rarely is the user that new, and normally it is not FaceBook causing the problem.
    Sometimes, it is.

  • I have been into my yahoo email on my iphone 4 and in spam inbox i received email from company posing as "Nacha"

I have just recently been into my yahoo on my iphone 4 and in my spam inbox there was a email from a company posing as "Nacha".It stated a transaction i recently had done has been cancelled. There was a link to click on.I do receive alot of spam emails some that i reconise and i am nieve and think spam emails like this wont come to me and i do alot of transactions online.I did click on the link! It took me to a blank white page on in top left hand corner did say the page cannot be found and there was no info asking me to put in any details i automatically deleted the email,I am now worried that because i have clicked on the link could my iphone now be compromised and if i even go onto my ebay app for example and put in my passwords could all my passwords and personal data now be leaked?? Im really worried as i do want to use my iphone for online transactions but dont know wether im safe now! I have rung my mobile provided and they said that its more than likely everything will be ok as i did click on the link but entered no details and it was a blank page but i have read on google that there can be fake blank pages and that scams can secretly collect data just by a click of a link!!!
    could anybody help really worried

I wouldn't worry.  Assuming you haven't hacked the phone you cannot have installed any viruses or spyware just by clicking a link in an email.  Sounds like the page you accessed could not be read on the phone anyway, or it was just a dead link.

  • MBP 5.1 I have a recent problem with airport connectivity. ethernet connection is working fine, but wifi has become extremely slow and bad functioning. signal is received, no problem with the wlan (my husband 's wifi with MBP is perfect) please help

I have a MBP 5.1 with snow leopard 10.6.8. It has been working fine until few days ago, when it started to have different problems:
    1) airport is not working well. it is extremely slow, has difficulties in fully loading pages, looses connectivity, It is not browser related, behaves thesame in safari or firefox; it is not the router/wlan; my husband mbp wifi works fine (as it was mine...) and iphone wifi is also working fine. it sees the signal and different networks. , it is also very very slow in opening skype (after that, it is working ok) if  I connect via ethernet cable to the same router, everything works perfectly and with the correct speed.could it be a damaged airport card? a software problem/corruption? logic board? (I hope not, the computer is out of apple care now....)
    2) after a certain time (more than hours) of use, the trackpad is behaving strangly, increase sensitivity to touch, unwanted selection of folders, files and text or images in web pages when i move the cursor, the cursor jumping all over the places while writing, ecc I have the impression it starts doing that when I use heavily the CPU ( and the temperature goes up). Is this again a problem of the mother/logic board?
I had recently serviced it since it was not booting properly, but except some permissions repaired, they did noit find anything wrong in the hard drive (which I have  now substituted with a SSD) or other hardware.
thanks in advance for any help/suggestions
    alessandra

I think I solved the wifi connection problem, just by switching off completely the router! sounds trivial, but in this case it worked!!!
the funny behaviour of the trackpad/cursor still persists. any suggestion???
    thanks again

  • I have desktop running Vista and Windows Mail and iPhone 4S.  I receive email fine on the iPhone but when I read or reply or delete email on iPhone it does not "register" on the desktop that I have done so.

It seems like once the messages are received on each device they no longer talk to each other.  They do not "synch" after intital receipt of message.
    Please help.

If this is a POP email account that is normal as they don't sync but merely allow devices to retrieve messages from the server.  You have to use an IMAP or exchange account to have changes on one device reflected on the other.

  • Airport and Pop3- can send or receive email

I currently have a pop 3 email with incoming server port 995 and outgoing server port 587 with ssl checked.  If i test account settings in outlook all complete correctly and the test message is sent but i cannot receive it.  Send and receive work properly when i am directly connected to my cable modem.  I have tried 110 and 25 with no ssl.  Since it works properly when the airport is not used, my ISP says it is an airport issue.  What are the proper settings?

    should say CANNOT

  • I frequently receive a "connection time out" message and can neither send nor receive email.

SOMETIMES exiting and reopening Thunderbird helps; SOMETIMES frequently checking for new mail and/or hitting the send button helps -- and sometimes nothing helps, not even rebooting. My internet connection via my browser works, and I am able to open links in older emails even when I cannot send or receive.
I am using 24.6.0 with Win 7 Ultimate.

Anti virus as you are probably aware operates on many different levels. The most obvious have been closed off. Lets try the second most obvious, real time scanning.
I have no idea what you use and they all use different terminology for basically the same things, so you will have to read between the lines a bit.
You have disabled the email scanning, now create an exception in the anti virus real time scanner for your [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_where-is-my-profile-stored Thunderbird profile] folders.
Thunderbird uses a single file per folder to store mail and the anti virus can slow things to a crawl scanning those very large files every-time something is added or removed or a folder is changed. An exception means that does not happen and the folder is only scanned when a "full system" scan is done. This does not stop memory scanning or scanning of attachments when they are opened.

  • I have a big mail problem. I foolishly tried to send a video photo by email.  Not surprisingly, it was taking a very great deal of time so I eventually deleted the 'send'. But, now the system keeps copying the deleted email and attachment

My email program has got itself gummed up due t my foolishly trying to send a video attachment. I eventually 'stopped' the 'send' but the system has brought in a 'Recovered files' heading and has retained the email complete with video attachment and keeps copying the darned thing. I keep deleting but it still comtinues copying. Once there were 45 copies. Please can someone tell me how to get rid of the files.

The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

  • Reinstalling and Carbon Copy Cloner

I mistakenly posted my question to an 'answered' thread, so will re-post it here. Apologies for the duplication!
Hello Good people on this Mac Forum.
I need your help. Here's the situation:
I'm running OS 10.3.9 on my powerbook G4, which I divided into 5 partitions when I first set it up, a couple of years ago now.
The trouble is that as I grow and my computer grows with me, the partition where I store my hard drive files just isn't big enough to keep up (I have less than 1GB free on this drive and obviously keep getting 'full' messages).
I've already moved most of my applications out onto another partition (months ago now), which has caused various small problems (e.g. I can't open PhotoShop or Dreamweaver files without opening the application first), but the hard drive keeps exanding as I receive emails and blah blah and now it's to the point where I don't even have room on my hard drive partition to receive a podcast, or download a new album to iTunes.
I have plenty of room on other partitions, so my thought is to get rid of the partitions altogether and open my computer up into one large hard drive disc again.
The folks at AppleCare have told me I need to boot from my Software Install and Restore disc and erase the whole disc; then go through the re-installation process.
The problem is that installing from my 'Software Install and Restore' disc will take me back to where I was when I bought the computer (Jaguar), while I am currently running Panther with the benefit of all those years of software updates, etc. I would like to save myself the time and trouble of redoing all this work if at all possible.
I've backed up all my current files on an external drive, using Carbon Copy Cloner (which is partitioned to exactly mirror my computer). What I'd like to do is just get a clean slate on my computer and transfer everything from the external hard drive over onto it. In other words I want to have one drive on my computer, and keep everything exactly as I have it now (sans the partitions).
Has anyone done this before? The AppleCare folks can't help me with the transfer because they are officially unable to advise on anything involving third party software (in this case CCC). They suggested I come here with my question, where people are not constrained by the same rules.
I had originally imagined I could just go through the installation process with my 'install and restore' disc, and then drag and drop (or clone) my backed up files over the new install, replacing them, but they said there might be problems with that. Has anyone had experience with this?
Another solution might be to erase my computer's hard disc, and then boot up from my external drive and clone the backed up files directly onto the empty disc. Would that work? I'm not sure how to boot up from my external drive, or make sure that those files are bootable, however.
Unfortunately I can't find my Panther OS install disc (it's somewhere in a box in the basement that I haven't unpacked since moving), which I'm sure would make the whole thing easier.
Any thoughts or advice for would be very much appreciated.

    Hi Grant,
    Thanks for replying!
I've done it several times. The only thing that I'm
not sure of is how you go from several partitions
    back to one
This is what I need to do, yes. Are you saying you haven't actually done it? (I too have gone from one to several partitions, and also from several back to one -once- but I didn't need to replace files from an external back up that time.)
(your backup must be to several different
    partitions, right?)
Yes, my back up is an exact mirror of my current set up, with the same partitions.
Before you do this, make sure that your backup on the
    xternal drive:
    1. Is on a firewire, not USB drive
    Right - it is.
    2. You marked "make bootable" on CCC
    I did that, yes.
    3. Make sure it actually boots
How would I check that? I don't know how to start up from the external hard drive.
All that said, there are advantages to doing a clean
    install.
I'm not sure what you mean by this - do you mean just install through my 'install and Restore' CD?
Its not a bad idea, so long as you can back
up and restore just your files. Most of the updates
will happen automatically (except apps and 10.3.x),
But these are the updates I'm concerned about. There are a LOT of them - I am a web designer and regularly use a LOT of applications. I don't want to reload every one of these, and go through all the updates again. I have deadlines to meet and need to spend the shortest possible time on all this and be safe and smart about it.
and you know that its clean and uncorrupted.
Nothing is corupted now, that I know of. That isn't really the problem.
    But you
can always do that later, after the clone, if you
    have a problem with it.
I'm not sure what you're referring to here, but I do appreciate the support, especially since it sounds like you use CCC. Can you tell me know to check to see if my backed up systems partition (on the external hard drive) is bootable? Thanks so much.
    Amy
