In India Nokia is totally irresponsible.

I have seen many threads here complaining about working behavior of India Nokia (every body in Nokia e.g. Service Center, Nokia Main office and Web-Site responses), Is there is any general body who controls this Indian irresponsible people to make them answerable to grievances many people have along with my misery.
My misery start on 14th May 2007, when I downloaded software upgrade for my Nokia 6270 in Delhi, India (bought the original set from Egypt with bill and warranty of African continent on 23rd May 2006). The software warned me about severe consequences if it looses connection in between transfer. I took the risk as Nokia had made it public to upgrade own your own at their web site. Break was unavoidable and it happened. First my phone hanged and after trying to shut down and restart there was no response at all, looked like complete blackout without any screen response.
On 16th May approached Nokia's service center at Preet Vihar, Delhi for repair. After waiting for almost more an hour service people tolled me that they are going to register the phone as brought dead even my insisting of writing software dead. They took out the batter and SIM card and handed over to me along with Job sheet Number: 1101086322 dt 16/05/2007 with expected return date: 19/05/2007. Response on 19th was further two days and there after they tolled me the system had been sent to head office (Green Park, Delhi) with ten days return back commitment.
Approached them on 14th June 2007, the answer I got back was "Mother board is damaged". At the same instant after taking my mobile from them I tried to check the current status of the set I installed my battery, after which to my surprise with in one minute mobile went hot boiling as if something was shorted inside, now for sure I knew that my mobile is no worth to me. My first question to them was if this mobile is heating up at this moment why it was not heated up during discussion before preparing Job sheet (which generally takes five to ten minutes) and on Job sheet nowhere it is mentioned mobile heat up problem. Again to my surprise they tolled me gray market sets behave like this after seeing Made in Germany stamp on my set, as these sets are not available in India.
I took back my Job sheet leaving my mobile with the service center then and there. On the Net cross-checked my Job sheet status and again the site reflected no such Job sheet number exists, Made a web site complaint on Nokia India website on 14th June 2007, with second reminder on 16th June 2007.
Till today 17th July 2007 there is no trace of any mail from Nokia or from Service Center and again no sign of Job sheet number status on web site at http://www.namscareonline.com/scripts/JobsheetStatus.aspx.
Lost all hope of my mobile and still searching for some one in Nokia, who can understand that investing hard earned money in these phones with no support do feel terrible. I have all the proofs of my buying of this mobile in original and Job sheet if some one requires them to enquire further.

Everybody above is true here.
Though Nokia has inflicted no pains to me directly but I've visited their service centers sometimes and have found that they leave no opportunity to fool simple villagers and aer almost equal to conmen.
Some of them have openend their selling points (in my city, Bathinda, I've seen it)-- even within the service center building-- and keep inventing new ways to fleece the customers.
Not every Indian knows how to deal with these issues on internet. And these poor people can no nothing but keep yelling in those service centers.
And, in the end, they HAVE TO compromise with whatever service center guys tell them.
YES.. WHATEVER.
Even, many times the devices get newer faults than the customer came originally with.
Moreover, these service center guys feel it very good if the people- boys, girls- keep waiting on them while they keep laughing with each other.
I always wonder, why, after making such good sets, Nokia doesn't pay attention to ground realities of its after sales service!!!
Edit: But in the end, I do believe Nokia listens to people [may be only those are listened who start crying in public]

Hi, ebag4ravi. We're sorry for the inconvenience. It is best to wait for their resolution as the replacement of the device will depend on the availability of the phone model. Please do keep us posted if you still haven't received the phone.

  • How to get the total amount and hide the field

    Hi Experts,
In Crystal report parameter screen, user has the option to Mutliselect either Donor or Grant or Donor & Grant; based on that in report output user is expected to see list of Donors with Grand Total. Requirement is not to split Amount by Donor rather need to show list of all Donor in header and Grant Total in Footer.
For example from the above list if user selected Algeria, Austria, Australia and India each country/Donor contribution  is 150 than expected output will be
    Algeria
    Austria
    Australia
    India
    America
    Grand Total = 600
please let me know if any one get idea about this requirement.
    Best Regard,
    sowjanya.k

    Hi Sowjanya,
If you're simply trying to place a grand total, use the 'Insert Summary' option.
Choose the measure field as the 'Field to Summarize' > Choose 'Sum' as the summary operation > Under 'Summary Location' choose 'Grand Total Report Footer'.

  • The deal breaker, or why I won't upgrade to Nokia ...

Why can't Nokia come up with a really competitive budget smartphone offering? Why can't it give as an all-around decent phone like it used to do in the good old dates?
For the last 2 years, I've been using Nokia 5530. It was a nice budget offering for its time, but the experience was hindered by an abysmally slow CPU and low amount of RAM (which might have been acceptable for a entry-level smartphone in 2009, but to put exactly the same hardware to models 5800 and C6-00 was a crime; it basically killed otherwise capable smartphones). The software also wasn't up-to-par, with a totally tragic attempt at creating a web browser, (somehow improved as of now, but it still can't overcome the hardware limitations, thankfully Opera manages to save the day) obstacles to install new apps (I finally figured out how to sign them myself, but why was Nokia forcing me to do that, making my life harder for apparently no purpose?) and certainly not well thought-out UI.
Now it comes the time for upgrade and it seems Nokia has finally learned its lesson. New budget Nokia 500 runs at whooping 1 GHz, has a vastly improved UI, comes with a GPS with free maps, has a new, significantly better screen and is finally the Nokia phone we've been waiting for for a long, long time...NOT
Because, as it is customary with Nokia lately, someone had to break it.
For quite a few years Nokia phones have been famous for their excellent cameras, so on e would assume e that at least THIS won't ever be a problem. Well, one would assume wrong as Nokia 500 totally neglects this feature. Don't get me wrong, it's a budget offering and I'm not assuming I'd get a N8 style hardware, but even my entry level 5530 more than 2 years ago had an autofocus with a LED flash. The 500 is unmistakably targeted at value conscious high school and college students yet it doesn't have this crucial feature of being able o take a quick photo of their notes, a page in a book or some printed announcement. It's the year 2011 for God's sake, autofocus is not a premium feature, it's a MUST for any (semi-)decent phone. Ho could anyone overlook it?
    Goodbye Nokia, welcome Android.

  • Nokia Discontinuing PC Suite

    Nokia writes:-
"Nokia PC Suite will eventually be replaced by the newer, more user-friendly Nokia Ovi Suite application for both Windows and Mac."
The only thing true about that statement is that Ovi is newer.
Otherwise it is a complete disaster with little of the functionality and customisation that can be achieved with PC Suite. It is hard to understand and grotesquely inefficient.
To add insult to injury it runs at the speed of a snail on Mogadon.
Please Nokia, listen to the user base. Just for once. By all means promote Ovi in the vain hope that people will buy apps that are largely for children. Let the adults who need to run their lives efficiently and with the minimum of fuss carry on using PC Suite. There is nothing wrong with choice.

Has to be said (again) that this board is only a lightning conductor for people like us who find things that Nokia does irritating / ineffective / incomprehensible / ...
No guarantee that ANYONE with any clout in Nokia ever reads anything posted here.  Even if they do, the New (microsoft) Regime is even LESS likely to do anything to meet the sort of requests that come up.  Look at history (of both Microsoft AND Nokia).  It's littered with incredible stupidity and contempt for the customers.  When you look at the recent decisions on Symbian (dump it and go to Mobile Windows), you begin to understand the Nokia position.  But how could an apparently well-run and highly-motivated company  ALREADY HAVE an efficient platform that ran many phone models for a very long time - and then mess it up completely?  OK - there WAS work to do to adapt Symbian to (a) different user interface(s).  But isntead of doing it ONCE, properly, Nokia seems to have tried to do it 3 different ways, in competition with itself.  Then it finds that it's alienated many of the existing customers, failed to capture sufficient new ones, throws all the toys out of the pram and falls into the arms of Microsoft.  Sheesh!
Minor issues with perfectly good software (PC Suite) that don't get properly redeveloped / fixed are NOTHING compared with the major structural problems in the software that SHOULD have been fixed long ago and now won't be.
Nokia has totally failed to recognise is that many users (including me) used to buy Nokia phones because we LIKED the way they worked.  We don't want to learn a new idiom and/or migrate to another (ie. Windows) that we ALREADY dislike.
But what does Nokia know about customer relationships?  Judging by what comes up here and recent events, not a lot.

Nothing happens, regardless of how long time I seem to wait. Pressing the middle buttom, can get me back to idle, checking the open applications (longpress middle key) reveals that "nokiastoreclient" is running.
I want to remove this faulty version or update again. How can I do this? (using the link above, just start the "nokiastoreclient", then nothing.

  • E6 Symbian Belle Update release date in India

Please tell the Symbian Belle update  release date for E6 in India.

Nokia doesn't announce dates for firmware updates, you'll receive it when it is available for your phone. Keep checking Nokia suite and switch on automatic updates in the 'software update' app on the phone.

  • Nokia 701 Screen

I have been looking at the specifications on gsm arena for the 701 which is due to be released Q3.
I notice that the phone will not be coming with gorilla glass display as does the 700.
Would there be a reason that Nokia will not be including gorilla glass display for the 701 and what are Nokia planning as an alternative  to make the screen more resistive to knocks and scratches ?
    Thank you for any information.

I understand your frustration, but before saying that Nokia is total $hit, wouldn't be easer to check if your unit is ok or not. I have no issues you described, in fact I'm pretty satisfied with N86 allover performance and build quality. Of course, it's far from perfect, has some annoying bugs and glitches, like every other device.
    Cheers,

  • NOKIA IS A FARCE!!!

I cannot believe the frustration noikia put people thru. If you are going to release new firmware, dont jump up and down and announce with great fanfare a new firmware and get peoples hopes up then constantly pull the rug from under them. The telcos have NO BLAME AT ALL WITH THIS FARCE! It rests wholely and solely on NOKIA!!!  iF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A NEW RELEASE, GIVE IT TO THE TELCOS AND WHOEVER ELSE HAS TO TEST IT FIRST, BEFORE YOU ANNOUNCE IT!  THEN, AND ONLY THEN, WHEN THEY HAVE GONE THRU THEIR APPROVAL TESTING ETC. THEN ANNOUNCE YOUR SWISH NEW FIRMWARE, "and RELEASE IT TO ALL" NOT USE THIS EXCUSE OF THE TELCOS HAVE IT BUT THEY ARE TESTING IT. SERIOUSLY NOKIA, you need to take a walk into the big room of mirrors and have a hard look at your operation. BECAUSE IT IS AMATEURISH BEYOND COMPARE.No-one releases anything like this in any other market with consumer products. SHAME ON YOU NOKIA!
    total state of confusion

This is completely OFF topic..but more questions about it have been raised under this thread than the Subject line..and hence the answer..

  • Nokia 2505 - somebody help to escalate the problem...

    Hi
I am from India & nokia care is giving such a rubbish customer service.
I purchased a Nokia 2505 on 7/10/07, it has a problem of getting switch off automaticaly.
Sumitted in a nokia care centre on 13/10/07, received back on 8/11/07. still had the same problem.
Again talked to nokia customer care "pls submit the handset & we wld follow up on priority basis" fine I sumitted the handset again on 13/11/07. then filed complaint with nokia cc "2-2LZ9HH" on 15/11/07.
again received the handset back on 1/12/07 with the same problem.
again called nokia cc "sir if the handset is with you then we cannot help, replacement is a policy but submit again & we would take on high priority basis to get it repaired"
with such a tone in his voice, felt like screaming on top of my voice.
want a replacement or wld have to file a complaint in consumer court.
I do not know whether nokia officials wld read my note but if they do, lets see if they even care to help.

I'm suffering for the same type of problem for my 5700.
And I think there is no way other than courts for this type of service.
In my case, they're simply replacing my 11000/- set with another model worth Rs 7300/- even though my model is still being sold in the market by the company, they say they don't have the phone or spares to replace the same.
By the way, where are you from?

  • Nokia 6233 - Display Cracked on Charging

I purchased a Nokia mobile model 6233 on sep 7th 2007. at Univercell shop at Velacherry, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Within one week of its purchase, the hands free did not work. When I approached the velacherry Univercell showroom, they asked me to go to Univercell Showroom at Alwarpet. On Sep 20th night 12 pm I plugged the mobile for charging it in the same plug point where I have been charging all mobiles for years. But I was shocked to see the display broken the next day morning. When i approached the service centre at Univercell, the service person talk was very cold and unfriendly. Never expected such a bad response from a dealer shop of high profile mobile brand like. Again after 2 hours of persuasion, they asked me to shuttle to Velacherry showroom of Univercell and talk to them. When we approached the velacherry show room, they again made us wait for a long time and finally agreed to make a jobsheet to Nokia. The response like this from dealers of Nokia is totally irritating, they are not even ready to look into the issue and right away dispensing off as the customers fault and not ready to take it as apossibility of manufacturing defect. I hope you understand the customers frame of mind after purchasing it for 8.5k and immediately finding that its a faulty piece. I request you to look into this issue. I have also attached the battery model and handsfree set along with the mobile unit.

A power surge (voltage spike) will NOT cause a cracked LCD! The device is protected by a circuit that will fail (causing an open circuit on the charger input) at anything above 18 volts therforeprotecting anything ele in the phone including the LCD. The LCD failure will co-incedental possibly due to a weak LCD, thermal shock or physical damage. If the glass of the LCD is intact and the LCD has simply "leaked" internally and there is no sign of external damag to the phone then Nokia normaly cover that under warranty otherwise they will consider it customer damage (as 99.9999% of it always is) and not cover it under warranty! I am not saying that this particular occurence is customer damage but it is rare to be anything else!
