In the process of saving a file a power surge rebooted computer. Any chance of recovering file?

Have a look at the sample script below. The "while" loop waits for the specified number of milliseconds, then reads the contents of a directory and processes every individual file in the directory. In my example, it just prints the file path to the console. You would replace this part with your Open / Save as / Move sequence.
For more file system commands, refer to Adobe's Javascript Tools Guide, "File object functions".
var stop = false;
while( stop==false ) {
    // Wait for 20.000 ms
    $.sleep(20000);
    var fld = new Folder("c:/incoming");
    var filesInFld = fld.getFiles("*.fm");
    for(var f=0; f < filesInFld.length; f++) {
        // process the individual file
        $.writeln(filesInFld[f]);
    // Exit the  loop after 19:00
    var time = new Date();
    if( time.getHours() > 19 ) stop = true;

    Expanding on what deggie said, with an iPad 1 the app you're using must support video out. Only the iPad 2 can mirror the screen. The apps included with the iPad that output to external monitors are given here:

    For third-party apps, consult the app's documentation or contact the developer.

  • Automate the process of saving Framemaker documents (*.fm) as Xml Files

    Hi,
    I am new to framemaker. We have a list of Framemaker document files (*.fm files) coming  into a folder.  We need to pick up these files and convert to xml format (same as the saveAs opertion from the File menu).
    I have written the follwing function to Save fm files to xml
    Code to Save fm files to xml files
    function saveAsXml (doc) {
       // Get required parameters for the save function.
        var params = GetSaveDefaultParams();
        var returnParamsp = new PropVals();
        // Replace the .fm extension with .mif.
        var saveName = doc.Name.replace (/\.[^\.\\]+$/,".xml");
        var i = GetPropIndex(params, Constants.FS_FileType);
        params[i].propVal.ival = Constants.FV_SaveFmtXml;
        // Save the document as XML.
        doc.Save(saveName, params, returnParamsp);
    How to automate this process so that code checks -
    1) New fm files in the folder
    2) Saves the fm file as xml
    3) Moves the saved fm file to a different folder
    Thanks,
    GC

  • Adobe Reader XI did not save the form data (unlike previous versions). Any way to recover file?

    Adobe Reader XI did not save the form data (unlike previous versions). Any way to recover filled form with data from temp locations?
    I was not aware that ctrl+s no longer works in reader and closed the PDF after savign it(with ctrl+s). However ,the data is lost and there seems to be no way to recover it.
    I cannot find any temp files created by Reader on my system.
    Also to my surprize(and shock), the reader did not even show a warning before closing the PDF. Does anybody know if/where can I recover the file from?
    Guys, Please reply ASAP if you have got any sort of solution!

    Hi Pat,
    Are you using Adobe Reader XI? And not Acrobat. It does not ask me to save the form if there are unsaved changes.
    I have used previous versions of reader for saving this form data and it did allow me to save it with ctrl+s. And those versions did prompt me to save the changes before closing.
    I guess I should not have updated the reader.

    Hi, I recently updated my IOS and backed up on itunes. In the process I lost all my apps on my phone. If I use the back up option on itunes, will it restore my iphone to my old IOS? Please help!

    If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

  • Uninstalled PSE6 on MAC 10.6.8; reinstalled; actions not there; they are in usual folder on harddrive; deleted the Media file while PSE6 closed;rebooted computer; let regenerate; still not there

    Oops think I put all the info in the title.
    Uninstalled PSE6 on MAC 10.6.8 (was having printing problems and wanted a fresh start)
    Reinstalled
    Actions not there
    Actions show they are in the folder on the Macintosh HD under the PSE6 in the Photo Effects folder
    Deleted Mediadatabase.db3 while PSE6 is closed
    Rebooted computer
    Opened PSE6 and let regenerate
    Still not there

    I used the PSE6 disc to uninstall.  I had the same actions on my laptop so I copied them to a Compact Flash and moved them over to my computer.  Now everything is as it should be.  I didn't realize that when I uninstalled it would take my actions too.  Glad I had them on my laptop.  Thank you for the info.

  • Power Surge Fried It- Can I save my files?

    My iBook was fried by a power surge yesterday. Wont turn on.
    I was wondering if its still possible to save my files if I take it somewhere?? Or even to get the computer running again. I mostly just want my files as I was planning on buying an iMac soon anyways.
    Thanks!

    Oh, bad luck! If the iBook won't turn on I doubt that anything can be done re saving the computer. Wait for a few more replies before taking that as gospel though...
    In the meantime you can try a PMU reset:
    1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
    2. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
    3. Wait 5 seconds.
    4. Press the Power button to restart the iBook
    What you can do is to remove the HD and put it into an external enclosure. Once you have your new iMac you can connect the two and transfer what files you want.
    For instructions on removing the HD select your model Here then Hard Drive on the next page.
    If you're planning to sell the remains as a 'spares or repair', perhaps on eBay, you need to be fairly careful and put it all back together again. Otherwise you can be as destructive as you like until you get to the HD.

  • Is there any way to recover files on a corrupted drive if I can book to Lion Recovery Assistant?

    Is there anyway to recover files from a corrupted drive if I can boot to the on-disk Lion Recovery Assistant?  Unfortunately Apple replaced my screen in December and wiped my hard drive.  I restored my files from Time Machine but have not done a backup since December because Time Machine sees the computer as new.  I started trying to find a way to reconnect to the existing backup with hopes of not having to do a full back up all over again.  There are a number of files that I need from the last 2 months.
    My mid-2009 17" MacBook Pro froze last night and I had to press the power button to turn it off.  When the computer restarted, it boot into Lion Recovery Assistant.  Disk Utility reported errors like "invalid b-tree node size" and "invalid record count".
    - I restarted and ran fsck overnight.  This morning I looked at the computer and it said that the drive could not be repaired.
    - Genius Bar did a quick scan and said I needed a new hard drive.
    - I called Apple Care and they had me start in Lion Recovery Assistant and run Disk Utility.  Disk Utility again reported that the drive cannot be repaired.
    - I tried using target disk mode and connected the MacBook to my iMac.  The iMac can see the drive in Disk Utility but cannot mount it.
    - I tried DiskWarrior from the iMac and it cannot rebuild the drive.  It does not even attempt.
    - I tried the demo of Data Rescue and it could not read the drive (using target disk mode).
    I realized that if I can boot the computer to the Lion Recovery Assistant then the drive is still functional (corrupted but still functional). Disk Utility shows the custom name I assigned to the partition (I changed it from Macintosh HD).
    Any suggestions?

    I was finally able to recover my data using DiskWarrior!
    After taking my laptop to a data recovery company and quoted $449 to recover my data, I decided to try one more time.  The technician did a free diagnosis and said the drive was still functional. I explained everything that I tried.  He said that they normally use Data Rescue and recommended that I wait a few minutes after starting the application before attempting to scan.
    Using another computer, I installed Lion to a 16GB flash drive and installed DiskWarrior, Data Rescue, and Remo Recover.  Remo Recover ran the day before for more than 24 hours and although it "saw" the data, the it only presented a fraction of the data I needed. I booted my laptop from the flash drive and first tried Data Rescue Demo.  It estimated 3500 hours to scan a 500GB drive. That worked out to be about 145 days.  I cancelled and tried DiskWarrior hoping that since I had purchased it, I would get some value.  This time DiskWarror did the scan and in less than 90 minutes it found pretty much everything!  It seems that it does not run properly with highly corrupted drives using target disk mode.  At the end of the scan, it mounted my internal drive so that I could preview the rebuilt directories and copy what I needed to an external drive!

  • Any chance to fix file references?

    I moved my music data from an USB drive to a NAS drive in the network. This also changed the drive letter assigned to the iTunes Music Folder location.
    I updated the location in iTunes after moving the files.
    But iTunes does not find the files any more.
    The file structure is 1:1 and the only thing that changed is the drive letter going from E:\... to L:\...
    Any chance to get the references restored? Since I did make edits in the database (such as Genre, BPM, etc) and created many playlists I am wondering what kind of trick I can use or what I did wrong.
    Thanks for any advise.
    Joe

    I just got this message popup:
    Unhandled event loop exception
    Java Heap Space
    Flashbuilder then crashed on me talking about memory problems.  I have 4 gigs, memory shouldn't be a problem unless the software is really borked.  I know notepad/scite doesn't give me any type lag for files with over 50k lines of code.
    Maybe that can help you guys fix the type lag that I've been complaining for about 2 years now.
    I wish the devs would stop ignoring me.

  • Any way to recover files if drive was wiped?

    Hello.  My macbook pro was stolen in January.  As random luck would have it, either the person that stole it or the guy that bought it brought it to the apple store about 2 weeks ago.  They tried to call the customer but used the serial number to pull up contact info and got me instead.  I didn't answer that call, but they left a voicemail asking questions about the laptop I brought in for repair.  Apparently it was brought in because it would not boot from an external drive.  I was beyond schocked when I heard that voicemail.  I was able to get the police to have Apple put the computer on hold the next morning.
    I now have the laptop back, and it boots to a screen with a flashing folder with a question mark in the middle.  I used the system disk that came with the laptop and ran the disk utility.  It shows the hard drive is workign properly and that it has all but 0.44 GB free out of 499.76 GB.  It says there are 2 files and 3 folders on the drive.  It is listed as Disk Number 0 and Paritition Number 2.
    I am assuming whoever stole it or bought it wiped out the drive and was unable to install a new operating system on the computer.  The computer when it was stolen was password protected, so any changes would have required my password I believe.  This may be easy enough to override or crack.  I'm not sure about that, and the password wouldn't have been too difficult to guess honestly.  My question is, do I have any hope that my files are still on the computer even though it may have been wiped?
    Thanks for the help.

  • Accidently resolved RAID 0 via diskutility. The disks are untouched and found as offline RAID disk. Any chance to put them togehther again?

    I accidently resolved a RAID 0 with diskutility. The disks are untouched and found as follows:
    diskutil list
    /dev/disk0
    #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
    0: GUID_partition_scheme *2.0 TB disk0
    1: EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
    2: Apple_RAID_Offline 2.0 TB disk0s2
    3: Apple_Boot Boot OSX 134.2 MB disk0s3
    /dev/disk1
    #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
    0: GUID_partition_scheme *1.0 TB disk1
    1: EFI 209.7 MB disk1s1
    2: Apple_HFS CK 999.9 GB disk1s2
    /dev/disk2
    #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
    0: GUID_partition_scheme *2.0 TB disk2
    1: EFI 209.7 MB disk2s1
    2: Apple_RAID_Offline 2.0 TB disk2s2
    3: Apple_Boot Boot OSX 134.2 MB disk2s3
    diskutil listraid
    No AppleRAID sets found
    The RAID disks are found and marked offline, is there any chance to put them together again?

    You don't break a stripe array into two drives and have anything to work with, you can easily break a mirror raid though.
    SoftRAID "takes over" and replaces from Apple's and can 'recover' an array.
    You should never work with or run with a stripe RAID0 and not have a couple current backups - unless the array is just for scratch.
    Data recovery only read the volume, and recovers to another physical hard drive, it is not done "in place." that would be disk repair type operations, such as Disk Warrior 4.4. Data Rescue 3 is what most people try to use first, demo mode. If it seems to work then $99 to buy.
    SoftRAID 4 $129 might be your only choice though I think something is getting lost in translation as to what type and nature and its current state. Email support there, they will walk you through.
    And have 3-4 more drives to work with. A large enough drive for backup, one for recovery, and two new drives taht you will want to initialize, zero, and use to build a new 2nd array. Say a pair of WD Black 1.5TB $159 each.
    SoftRAID will test all your drive surface for defects during initialize (long format) and during idle background scan.

  • Saving files. Optimization of the process of saving, easy usability.

    Yet to make this decision trained and intelligent. Whatever system is determined in what formats the user saves more often and put them on the button.
    If it's really convenient, let's give this joint effort the company Adobe.
    Guys, what do you think of my solution?

    I have to admit, it is an area of the product that does take some time even for experts to navigate.  Whenever I save PNG files, it seems I'm forever pressing the P key over and over to get it to cycle to PNG.
    The use of buttons may be the wrong approach, though.  Maybe a Radio Button list, which would imply "pick only one of this list".
    Or maybe there could be a configuration that would cause the ones you most use to bubble to the top.
    Another possible viable approach is to become sensitive to the extension that's typed.  An application that actually already does this is IrfanView.  If you type "ScreenGrab.png", at the moment you type the 'g' in .png it switches the type to PNG.
    But (Adobe, pay attention here) - WHATEVER method is chosen, care should be taken to try not to break the key/mouse sequences people already use, because after so many years, we've come to the habit of doing things a certain way, and a change that breaks that can be very jarring.

  • Why do my homepage settings change to a site I do not want every time I shutdown Firefox - EVEN THOUGH I have gone through the process of saving the site I really want?

    I am desparate to set my homepage to http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en
    However, even after manually setting it to the site I want, every time I restart Firefox it has reverted to http://www.searchqu.com/406
    I have tried every solution that I have found in Firefox help, but to no avail.
    I have only recently changed to Firefox and am impressed with the way it works with this one exception, which is driving me mad.
    PLEASE, PLEASE can anyone out there help?

    Thanks for the reply. I never get the option to "Restore Previous History" from History. I don't even have the box checked that asks to delete the history when Firefox closes. I don't know what's wrong, no matter what, I always lose everything. I have the box marked "Show my windows and tabs from last time" for when I open Firefox, but it never shows that, just my homepage. Also, when I check my History, it only shows the pages that I opened since I started Firefox, nothing from before. Even if I were to open up 10 pages now, close Firefox, and open it, the history would only show the homepage that opened this time, not any of the 10 pages that I opened 5 minutes ago.
