Incoming calls: Country code displaying wrong

No idea why this has started happening. I have two iPhones, one a Malaysia number and one a Thailand number.
I am in Malaysia now and had two friends of mine call me from Thailand yesterday but despite their numbers being in my phone book, correctly formatted, the phone did not display their names. Not only did it not display their names it replaced the correct dialling code for Thailand (+66) with the Malaysia code (+60). Having done some digging the only thing that it seems might be responsible is the International Dial Assist, which I have now turned off. But I'd have thought IDA would be to assist with dialling, not screwing up the numbers of incoming calls from callers whose numbers are CORRECTLY listed in the Contacts with the CORRECT international code.
Seems like yet another useless feature that you have to dig around to disable if you want an iPhone to just work. Why on earth would I would the international code of my contact replaced by the domestic code of my home country??? More and more time I seem to be spending with IOS devices these days just to get them to do what I want!!
Not impressed at all. Anyone else come across this useless bug (feature)?

Caller ID is a carrier feature. The phone can only display what is sent by your carrier. Contact them and report the problem.

Incoming calls do not display contacts # TYPE (work, mobile,etc)

I am a verizon carrier and I recently upgraded from a curve to a tour 9630. I am on a business enterprise server that syncs with my outlook. On my old curve and other BB's, when I would receive a call from someone in my address book, the screen would display: the person's name, their number, and in parentheses- what contact number that was, ex: (work) (mobile), etc.. These are all still listed in my outlook and blackberry address book correctly. Now on my tour, on incoming calls from individuals in my address book, it only lists their name and number. The parentheses that listed what contact type their number was, has dissapeared and since I don't memorize #'s anymore, I dont know where they're calling from. Is this a glitch or a removed feature on the Tour? Or is it a setting that I can't find?

I have the same issue...not sure if my upgrade to BB OS 5.0 solved it.
It now shows # type when I answer the phone and on the call log screen.
Try seeing if #type is displayed once you answer the phone...If not Upgrade

actually according to this, t-mobile became the first carrier to offer the paid feature in 2011

i don't know if anything changed with verizon after 2011, but i don't see any such feature on their website. I know you can set/remove your own name that is displayed to others, with verizon. but i cant' specifically find this incoming name feature.

E51 - incoming caller name not displayed

I am having this bizarre problem with my new E51.
I cannot see any details of incoming calls. Moreover when I go to missed calls, it always displays as 'unknown'.
All contacts have their first name and last name populated correctly. Also I have downloaded latest softwares (firmware etc).
Has anyone else had this issue? How can I correct this?

got it solved!
Phone can't handle dubble nr's if a nr is used twice it doesn't show. Say cards you sync with complete info (home office mobile) will mix up if you had, say just a mobile nr in your phone. And if his office is in your phone on it's own name your phone doesn't know what name to show.
so you have to delete all dubble nr's

It will only display the name if the information is entered into your contacts. That is how it works on the phone to display the name. If you want to see the number, you would have to go into your recent calls and tap on the blue . The highlighted number is the one they called from.

Incoming calls no longer display the Contact name

Since flashing my phone to update to PR1.2, any time I get a phone call from someone who is in my Contacts, it just displays the telephone number, which can cause an issue if I don't recognise it at first glance.
Any ideas what could have caused this and how to resolve? Can it be due to the update?

Some incoming calls and messages display the phone number instead of name

I recently upgraded from a Blackberry to an iPhone 4s. When I receive a call or SMS on the 4s it often displays only the phone number instead of the name at the top of the screen even though I the correct name and phone number are entered the correct fields in the iPhone address book. I assume there was some kind of conflict when I imported the names from the blackberry (or from my Google contacts list - I can't remember which now). Have any of you experienced this problem? How did you get it resolved?

I cannot replicate this.
If I deliberately send to my iPhone Number and reply to that (My iPhone is set to use the iPhone Number) after I have moved Messages behind another app the Notification show my Name and not the number.
I am using iCloud to sync the Contacts apps.

i have an iPhone 4(factory unlocked) running iOS4.1. when i get incoming calls, the incoming call number is displayed as "UNKNOWN CALLING" and not the number.

Context of the problem:
In our company we get a basic phone with split bill system. This works exactly as a normal phone but the provider puts each outgoing call in 2 groups; normal is at your own expense, or at the expense of the company when you put a "2" in front of the normal number.
For example when I dial "0475666777" I pay for it, when I dial "20475666777" the company pays for it.
Lets say "20475666777" is a colleaguecalled "BOB"
Problem:
For example when "BOB" calls me the phone doesn’t recognize the incoming call. The display says incoming call from "+32475666777" in stead of incoming call from "BOB".
All the other nokia phones we used did this just fine....
Also when I save the same number without the "2" the phone say's the number is already in use for "BOB"
Maybe we can change a setting???
Several colleagues got this type of phone as a replacement and they all have the same problem since.

Caller ID for incoming calls NOT displaying name from contacts (only displays phone # on BB Z10)

on the Z10 Whenever I receive an incoming call, the caller ID only shows the phone #, even when I have that number matched to a contact in the phone, even the call log it show the number and not the name. Thank you Arsen but, as with everyone else : (1) When you get an in-coming call, it has no call log on the phone app call log that allows you do a thing under the sun except to touch the number of the last call, and when you do, it CALLS THEM BACK. (2) On every other BlackBerry I have owned, about 10 to-date, I simply selected the last in-coming call and had a button at the bottom of the screen to allow me to ADD TO CONTACTS. (3) This does NOT exist on the Z10, and there certainly is no "Click on number, little slider pops on the right, select add to contact." Instead it dials them. Frustrating other uses have described Arsen. Further, while on the topic : (4) None of this has anything to do with 10-digit national dialing plan or anything else on swipe finger down from top in Phone App, Arsen. (5) When you swipe Phone App down, you see SETTINGS. Then, there are 13 items. I have looked at all 13 items and see nothing as you describe to select, nor any instructions on what to set the SMART DIALING to when there are 3 area codes local for my city and country code shows +1. Further, while on topic here : (6) Visual Voice Mail has been turned-on and whatever visual voice mail is, never supported on any previous BlackBerry including my 9780 before this, I have it with T-Mobile and have it turned on on the BlackBerry Z10 and it too does not work. On the positive side, I do have a work-around for BlackBerry Z10 to 2013 Toyota entune. (7) I first took a vm msg .wav file of just hello (blank will not send) and saved it on BlackBerry Z10. The Toyota entune is LOOKING for a music and will LOCK-UP if none are found. By giving it this, it worked on my 2013 Toyota entune for the 1st time ever. Yeah ! It is a little frustrating every few minutes listening to myself say HELLO. But, hey no one really notices it with all the other stuff going on NAVIGATION, radio, cell phone calls, and all the computerized alerts on 2013 Toyota even without entune. (8) What I did now was to go into Navigation and remove SYNC with MUSIC. I accomplished that after pairing to Z10 to 2013 Toyota, by CANCELLING ALL CONNECTIONS leaving only the pairing itself. Then, you must choose some connections in the pairing section of SET-UP within Navigation itself. If you cannot even get to that point, try depressing on the Navigation Screen, INTERNET at which point it will allow you access to SET-UP when you see the message NO ENTUNE APP FOUND ON YOUR BlackBerry Z10. Red-headed step-child is what we all are. Have to help each other. Arsen I appeciate you helping all of us. Seems the list is about 20 who have voiced it here in this one thread. We voice it for the 200 million BlackBerry users worldwide, all left out in the cold despite a pretty cool Z10 product. Far better than iPhone 5. I chose phone and internet. Internet comes back no BLACKBERRY Z10 TOYOTA ENTUNE APP. But, at least now I don't have to hear the music HELLO and do not also have the BlackBerry Z10 LOCKED-UP with pop up message you have to say OK to 10 million times to clear and never can actually do a thing on the BlackBerry Z10 as a result. Cannot add an in-coming call to Contacts Z10. Cannot see name and number calling me, just the bloody number, no clue who is calling ridiculous. BB will not Display Incoming Calls Contact Info

Hi there,
I am a new user to the Black Berry world, and have encountered a problem I hope can be fixed.
I have 84 contacts in my Adress Book in my Black Berry 8900, all with 10 digit phone numbers linked to each.
I do not pay for caller ID through Rogers Canada (Just to let you know).
The problem I am having is that, when one of my contacts call me, even though I have there phone number in my contact list their name or picture does not appear. I simply get a pop up saying Incoming Call Unknown Number...
I've done some searching online and found that in some other black berries people had this fixed by turning off their content protection in secruity>General settings> Content Protection.
This however did not work for my phone.
I have had a Sony Ericsson W580i which was capable of doing this simple feature from over a year ago and was on the Rogers service for that phone too.
I just got off the phone with Rogers and they are claiming that without Caller ID it is impossible to do this simple feature on a Black Berry.
Hope I can have my issue solved here!

Well, unless I'm missing it, none of those posts referred to not having the CallerID service provisioned on the line...rather, they seemed to be discussing getting callerID to display from contacts in the device address book versus the SIM. Personally, I have no use for my SIM...I'm on VZW, though...not sure if other devices or other carriers can handle a BB with no SIM. Probably not.
Occam's Razor nearly always applies when troubleshooting technology issues!

My phone displays numbers instead of contact names for incoming calls and text - how do I fix? It used to display the names if there was a contact listed, now it just shows numbers regardless of whether or not the number corresponds to a contact name in the contact list. Can anyone help? I googled this problem and lots of folks have experienced it, however there is not a consensus for a resolution.

Alexandribill, I have been having the exact same issue. I got a new phone and restored my contacts. If the # doesn't have the area code first then the name isn't shown. I just added my husbands area code to my phone and called my phone from his and now his name shows up...Ugh, I have to go through and manually add the area code to all my contacts....
I'd say Verizon needs to rewrite their program to include the area code in the restoring from backup process!
