Inconsistent print quality on a HP 8500 Printer.

When I print more than 5 or 6 copies, the print quality starts fading.. Eventually the quality is so light that is not readable and some letters or words are missing entirely. I discontinue printing and turn the printer off for a couple of hours and repeat the printing but have the same results. First few copies are perfect, then the poor quality repeats.

Inconsistent Printing to a Shared Printer

I'm having a problem printing to a shared printer. My computer is a MacBook Air on Lion. The computer where the printer is shared from is a Mac Pro on Snow Leopard. It's a Brother Laser Printer HL-1440.
I'm connected to the same ethernet as Mac Pro. The printer is connected via USB.
I have been able to print before but going forward the ability to print is inconsistent. Sometimes I can see the printer when trying to add it in Print & Scan and sometimes I can't. I deleted the printer trying to troubleshoot. When it does show up, I sometimes get the error "The printer is not connected".
Any and all suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you!

Problem with inconsistent print dialogue box/Aperture and Elements?

I just purchased an Epson r1900. In Aperture everything is great! I can pull up icc profiles and the new print dialogue box features all the epson papers (glossy, Matte, Art, CD) in menus with submenus. But in Photoshop Elements 6, I get an old dialogue box which only shows the old Epson papers-Photo. Photo glossy, matte. There is no way, for instance, to choose Velvet art-and that is what I am using. It is driving me nuts. I have thrown out preferences, updated drivers, updated applications, fixed permissions...you name it. same thing in Apple Pages. Why am I not seeing the same dialogue box? Is this not OS controlled? The R1900 is always chosen. ( I do have an older printer as well, but definitely not selected.

I have the same problem since I installed Snow Leopard. I have upgraded to the newest canon driver for my Canon Pixma IP5200 printer. Calibrating seems to no longer have a reliable impact on my prints. Also Aperture under SL will not save my preset information for media type, paper source or print quality in the print settings.
I am assuming this is a bug related to SL and hopefully will be addressed soon... It is very frustrating as I have waisted a lot of time ink and photo paper in the days since I have moved up to SL

Inconsistent printing from an FLA

I am Using Flash MX and Flash 2004.
When I insert jpgs into a keyframe and then try to print out
that page while I am editing the FLA, I get strange results.
Sometimes the jpg prints blank sometimes it is solid blackand
sometimes it prints perfectly. This is true if it is a jpg, broken
apart, a graphic, or a movieclip.

4500, inconsistent printing; stopped printing with a laptop that worked before

I have a hp 4500. It was working fine on our ATT wireless network, then became random if it would print or not. It will print (usually) for other two computers on network, but stopped on my Asus. Have been having difficulty connecting for last few weeks, have to turn on and off printer (waiting about 5 minutes between shutting off then back on). Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. Now it says the driver is not installed, so uninstalled driver and reinstalled. Now it says it is not installed. Have tried multiple times. Any suggestions? My laptop is connected to web fine through wireless connection (obviously, right?) but can't figure out connection issues.

I'd like to help. Can you answer some questions?
Can you print a printer status report and give me the Product # for your printer? To do this, press the "wrench" or setup button, press the right arrow until you see Reports, press OK, press right arrow until you see Status Report or Self Test Report, and then press OK. The report should print.
Are you using a disk or download from hp.com for the install?
Is the printer connected wirelessly or by Ethernet cable to the wireless network?

Inconsistent print outs from Safari

From PowerBook G4, previews and print outs on my three printers all have no margins. The type is right against the page edge, so the first few letters are cut off on all sides.
From my iMac Intel, pages print correctly.
I cannot figure out the disparity. I don't see any options for margins on the print window, in fact, I thought it was defined by the printer drivers.

I hope someone answers this issue. I think it may be a major problem and has been for months. Whenever I try to print a form in Safari (e.g., a medical claim form), the margin almost disappears on the right, and the bottom of the pdf gets cut off. Adjusting size, etc. does nothing. There is no way apparently to adjust margins. There is no Page Setup. The pdf form I am trying to print now must be from from Microsoft Word looking a the file title.
Incidently my Mac is obviously an Intel iMac, but I have the problem.

Inconsistent printing from 1 networked computer

Recently purchased and set up officejet 5742. Works fineprinting via wireless connection with 1 wirelessly networked computer but not with the other (both computers using same microsoft office student package).
Will not print from Microsoft office applications (Word, excel, powerpoint etc) When it does not print, there is no error message on either the printer or the laptop.
When it does not print, the printer activates when a file is sent to print, but then just sits there with 'loading' on the printer screen and the spinning circle. The device manager on the lap top says 'printing' but just stays there, after around 3 minutes the printer chimes and then goes back to its standard home screen and seemingly deletes the file from the printer queue as it no longer shows on the device manager.
I have attempted to uninstall/reinstall software, printing via a wired connection and have followed the scan and print doctor re: deleting print spool file contents.
Printing from web, google docs etc fine.

I understand you cannot print from Microsoft Office programs from one computer only however, you can print successfully from all other programs. As the printer prints from other programs, and functions fine with your other PC, the hardware is fine and there is no issue with the printer itself. The problem is software related and I suspect there could be an issue with Microsoft Office on the one computer only.
I saw that you have already tried a full uninstall and reinstall of the printer driver and software, which should have resolved any printer related software issues. You can also try running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results and if that happens, let me know what the problem was. If the tool determines that the printer checks out okay, you can try posting this issue in the Microsoft Forums (below), or even uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office on the one PC.

Poor and inconsistant DVD quality from HD footage

I have read endless discussions on how to get the best quality DVD from HD footage but here is my specific issue:
After testing and tweaking dozens of compressor settings with a short 16 sec clip of my footage, I found a setting that looked the best (though still not great). . . 90min best quality, de-interlaced, switched to progressive. I saved the setting and then applied it to the full 30min sequence but it looks like junk even before sending to DVD SP (pixelated, horizontal lines)?! I'm totally baffeled? Why does my 16 second sample look fine but my 30min sequence look awful using the exact same settings using the same footage?

Nokia n73 inconsistent picture quality

i've read the taking pictures tutorials, but i dont think they really cover my problem, what i noticed today was that if i use the scene taking option for pictures, i can get 1)pic very yellow 2)which seems to be the correct colour; see below.
i havent changed any setting between each shot and the camera was kept on a table very steady, any idea whats going on?

Spotty printing of text and/or graphics from ID CS3

I have an 18" x 24" poster that is inconsistently printing. Yesterday the first time I output it, no problem. Make a few text changes, a whole block of text drops out although the outer glow prints. I have also had parts of the background graphic drop out. There doesn't seem to be a consistent patten to this. When I print the PDF from Acrobat Pro after a drop out the same error occurs, although it manifests differently (a different section of drop out).
The font involved is Eurostile OTF, there's about 6 logos on the bottom and the background is a Photoshop file. I thought I had it solved by flattening the background in PS, for some reason that worked for a while, but ultimately that is not the problem.
Confused because my thinking is that if the font was corrupt (which I have replaced with a master version I keep), then the error would be consistent.
I am using the stock High Quality transparency flattener.
Also, if I reboot the printer it will print the file maybe once, maybe a few times, then the errors begin.
Thoughts?

Outlined the font prints just fine. This time. As I said it has been pretty spotty. Don't know why I didn't think of that, although I still don't quite believe it is only the font. Perhaps a combination of both things you mentioned.

Intermittent PDF printing with HP 8620

Inconsistent printing of PDF files (some print - some do not).
All PDF files print when using ePrint (HP version of remote printing).
Using Laptop.
Setup to print and system locks after seeing screen Updated with number of pages printing (percentage being submitted to printer - it remains at 0%...........have to reboot laptop to get out of it. (All keys lock, including CTRL+ALT+DELETE keys).
(I have left it in the lock positon several times for at least one-hour!).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled HP8620 software, upgraded all BIOS and Printer patches known to HP to no effect, including "Printing as Image" option (Option given by an earlier member to a similar problem).
No problems in printing any Microsoft products (Word, Excel, etc).
Everything worked Ok when using HP Officejet 6310xi all-in-one - printer being replaced.
Appreciate any assistance.

Windows 2012 R2 - Intermittent RDP Printing

Hello!
I have built a Windows 2012 R2 server with Remote Desktop Services running on it. Remote users are having trouble with inconsistent printing through their RDP clients. Their printers show up as redirected printers and do print sometimes,
but other times nothing prints - the user click print, select their printer, and nothing shows up. Later it will just start working for them again. The problem seems to be universal - it is happening on clients with different versions of Windows,
different printer models, and different printer manufacturers. Has anyone seen this? Are there any hotfixes for this that I can install? I have all of the latest Windows Updates installed.

This problem is a bug in Virtual Channel. I have clients suffering with this bug with all my programs using Virtual Channel.
Usually all communications between server and client side under a remote session (RDP or ICA of Citrix) use Virtual Channel. This was developed by Citrix than was resold to Microsoft. Up to Windows 2008R2 there were no change at all and everything works
smoothly. But since Windows 2012, someone in MSDN team has changed the implementation of this protocol then everything that uses Virtual Channel as communication transport layer becomes unstable, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

In the first thread, there are questions asked, and someone has given some information from Microsoft MSDN team but they want people pay for more support about that bug.
I have lost almost 2 weeks to deal with this problem to make a workaround for my client to get a stable working version of my Remote Executer program. What I have found is Virtual Channel functions now become very unstable: ex: with WTSVirtualChannelOpen,
sometimes it fails at the first call in the session, not only from a repeating call as the information given from MSDN engineer. Sometimes WTSVirtualChannelWrite fails, return 0, but the GetLastError returns error message "The function completed
successfully". It's very weird.
I have found the workaround method is when a error occurs during the communication, I have to close the Virtual Channel, and retry to open it (WTSVirtualChannelOpen) several times until it successes and retry the send (WTSVirtualChannelWrite) or if
the Virtual Channel could not be reopened I have to unload the whole module and retry the open and send process again. When it starts working, it seems stable, but the error can happen at any time.
Hope that workaround may help some people until Microsoft recogizes this is a bug in their new Virtual Channel implemetation and provides some useful informations.
My other program Remote File Transfer got problem from this bug too. Inside the program, data were tranferred in binary format buffers from server to client, in some packages there are some strange bytes inserted in the package, the result is the file was
corrupted on the client side.
If you Google "WTSVirtualChannelOpen Windows 2012 problem" you will find similar problem. I believe there will be more and more people having problem with this bug, because a lot of stuffs use Virtual Channel for the communication between 2 sides,
like printing, device redirection, etc.
All my virtual channel programs was working since Citrix Metaframe XP 1.0 + Windows 2000, then 2003 till Windows 2008R2 without any problem, that can confirm that the Virtual Channel communication in Windows 2012/R2 has problem because I have followed
the instruction from that thread but the problem is very unpredictable.
Hope that someone can forward these information to MSDN team, and they can give us a fix soon or at least give us some useful information to deal with this problem.

IPrint Client: Printer Driver Profile Update

what would be the best way to Update a Printer Driver Profile with ZCM?
i published the Printer Policy with a new Version and checked "Update iPrint printer driver while installing the printer" for the Printer.
But this did not trigger the Update of the Device Settings.
However the User could delete the Device and after ZCM Agent refresh the Policy will install the missing Printer together with the Updated Profile.
Two side notes about iprint:
1. i set mistakenly install order to install iprint client before Novell Client on some Devices. This seems to lead to an authentication Prompt for logged users when the Printer Policy is about to install new Printers. This would not change if i update to the current Version 5.82.
btw. I prefer a Bundle to Update the iprint Client with 3 minutes delay after refresh just in case there is a printer Policy running. The Update will check \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell-iPrint Current Version as requirement.
2. I need to give users write Acess to C:\NDPS to make Printer Policies work right?!
This MAYBE cosmetic only but... i sometimes see inconsistent Printer Names. There is a "translation" of Server-Names under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell-iPrint\Settings\Server Names\[Full qualified DNS server Name] to a short Server Name with TimeStamp.
Some Clients show the full server Name (ipp://...) others the nicer short-Name. Could not exactly reproduce but it seems that it resolve the short Name only if the local Admin installs the Printer.

Why does it say \'The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer\'

I have been using an HP Photosmart Plus B210a printer for a year. Recently I have many inconsistent printing problems, it's slow, in a queue, just doesn't move until I reboot - pull out plug, download again etc... anyway now it's defunct I'm steaming - shall I chuck it and buy another if so which - thinking of HP Envy 120??? Anyway when I try to use usb and not eprint a box pops up saying: The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer. So here lies the problem, but I;ve changed cables and still it pops up. What does this mean? My Lion 10.7 mac OX is as new as the printer. Please advise, before I go insane.

Sounds like you are having a configuration issue with the software. Initially, my first response will be to completely remove the software from your computer and reinstall it using the software that HP makes available to download. Here is a link to that download :

Have you also considered trying a different method of communication (e.g. wirelessly or using an Ethernet cord)? This might allow me to make better assumptions on where the issue lays if I know the circumstances which lead to it.

Bad video...columns of small white dots, pixelation

Can anyone help me...i've had the apple tv for some time and now i get inconsistent video quality. Just started several months ago. white dot columns, pixilation are the problems, any suggestions?

I have the same problem with mine starting tonight, and I'm pretty sure the internal video card is going bad.
I bought mine years ago during the first few days after the ATV was released. It was running OS 3.02 as of tonight. When I "restore" it installs version 1.0, but the "dots or lines in video problem" is still seen in the menus. And after the restore it started to lock up randomly, with nothing on it, just by going through the menus.
I'm leaving it unplugged to see if the problem is over-heating, but it's not any hotter than usual.
