Incorrect data returned when using a date prompt

We are using BO XI R3.1 with fix pack 1.3 on windows with a CMS and report database on Oracle 11i. There is one report in which a date range is set by prompting for the Start and End date, depending on the dates entered it sometimes erroneously displays the message `No data to fetch`. It can be confirmed that there is actual data rows, by either running the SQL script in an application such as Toad or by hard-coding the start and end dates into the condition, indicating that it is the `Prompt` which is causing the problem.
For example if the start and end dates are 28/06/2010 - 02/07/2010 there will be no data returned, but if the end date is extended to 30/07/2010 then data will be returned which includes transactions from 28/06/2010 - 02/07/2010. Whether the date range is set using the SQL `between` operator or using the start date greater than or equal and end date less than or equal results in the same `no data to fetch` message displayed.
Is this a known issue or have other users come across this behaviour in their desktopIntelligence reports ?. It may be that it is fixed in subsequent service packs but for the time being our environment cannot upgrade beyond the existing fix pack. This problem can also be replicated on new reports and even on other date fields in the database, and if the prompt is incorporated into the Universe the problem still remains.
Meanwhile any thoughts or ideas on the problem are appreciated.

I've noticed similar behaviour in the past, and it had to do with a difference in language setting between client and server side.
So let's say dutch client, american oracle.
So oracle expects MM/DD/YYYY whereas the users think they must input DD/MM/YYYY.
Now happens something that I consider BO being to clever for its own good.
If a user enter 28/06/2010 it knows that can't have been MM/DD/YYYY since it is invalid that way,
so it swaps it! and gives 06/28/2010 to the database.
A date like 02/07/2010 doesn't get swapped because its valid,
so it gives 02/07/2010 to the database.
So ultimately the database tries to retrieve between Jun 28th and Feb 7th, which gives no data to fetch...
Thats why in situations with different date formats I never use a data field to prompt,
but request the data in a certain format as string and convert it myself in the universe to a dateformat for the database to process. I just state the expected input format to the user so there are no surprises anymore.
Something like "Give date from (ddmmyyyy)"...

you could do it like this. in this case, you submit your form with the parameters (industry, company, collaboration), and upload your file at the same time. and in the target servlet, you can build your MultipartRequest object like this:
MultipartRequest multi = new MultipartRequest(request, temp_location, 50 * 1024);where variable temp_location stands for a temporatory diretory for file uploading.
and then you get your parameters, so you can build the directory with them. and after that, you can move your file to that directory using File.renameTo();
but as i've suggested in my previous posting, i just recommend you upload your file in a separate form. and then you can perform an oridianry doPost form submit with those parameters. or you may have problems with the file uploading. (this is just my personal experiences with Multipart).
there is one other thing i'd like to mention, file.renameTo() won't work if you need to move files to a network drive in windows. it won't work if you move files across file systems in unix.

Error in WEBI report and MDXTEST when using Dimensions in Prompt

I am using BOXIR3.1 SP2, SAPBI 7.0
I m creating a webI report (Universe is on SAP BI Query.) which include following objcets in Query section of WebI pannel:
Business partner, Account Class, Total Arreas count.
The Condition pane of Webi Includes Prompt on object "Account Class".
When I run a report, I get List of values for Dimension Account Class, when I select one of available value eg: Commercial Customer,I get Following Error.
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query SELECT { [Measures].[4EITIDWAFWLLZD2ONIAVCKD56] } ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY CROSSJOIN( [Z_BPATNER].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS, { [Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS].[Commercial Customers] } ) ON ROWS FROM [ZFC_M07/Z_FC_M07_Q002] failed to execute with the error Value Commercial Customers for characteristic Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS unknown. (WIS 10901)
I tried running same query in MDXTEST editor of BI. I got same error!!!
Then I tried changing the MDX Query as:

Then it worked Fine!!! If you observe the change is in the value of Prompt Account Class [Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS].[COM]
By default Dimension object in Universe shows text value, but when I changed the MDXQuery with Key value (This is one of the value of value is for [Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS].[Level01] object in mDX test Editor.) It works fine.
I wonder How do i solve this problem!! List of values available in dimension cannot be changed at universe level.
Please let me know if any solution for this exists.

I am creating the prompt on the dimension "Account Class" at WebI level.
The Technical name of this object is: [Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS].[LEVEL01]
Also,
I confirmed that Index Awareness is applied on this dimension as [Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS].[LEVEL01].[TECH_NAME].
This Dimension has detail object called "Account Class (Key) "and "Account Class (Medium name)".
MDXtest editor in SAP, shows me text as well as [ Level01] values:
Eg: Account Class InfoObject has values "Commercial Customer " (This is text value)and "[Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS].[COM]".
COM Refers to Commercial Customer .
So In WebI when I use Dimension "Account Class" as prompt, I get Text value of this InfoObject which is "Commercial Customer ".
and MDXQuery Fails. But when I modify this query in mDXTEST Editor with value as "[Z_FCACTBP__0UCACC_CLAS].[COM]", It work fine.
I donu2019t understand the reason, since this problem is with almost 90% of Dimension object.
When I delete this object from universe, and refresh the universe then webI works fine.
But, if for some reason I refresh the universe again, the Dimension object as a prompt doesnu2019t work!!!
This error occurs every time I refresh the universe.
We are in UAT phase and soon to go Live!! We cannot afford to delete the object every time I refresh the universe.
Please let me know your inputs.

Different Files Returned when using the Drop Down list on the Search Results Page

Hi
I have a result set of 22 documents when I select Date (Newest) from the drop down on the search results page. The third document down is called "LL".
If I now select Date (Oldest) I have a result Set of 22 documents. However, when I move to the second page. The number of documents has reduced to 20 documents and my document "LL" which I would have expected to be the third from bottom document
is not there.
Am I doing something wrong here ? Search is OOTB. I have added some refiner columns.

Hi Nigel,
It is by design. The "About x results" is presented when the total number of results is uncertain, and that is when collapsing (i.e. duplicate detection in this case) is enabled and the result set is partially processed. By default, a result page
shows 10 results at the time. Therefore, for result sets with less than or equal to 10 results you will always get an accurate number of results and hence “About” is omitted. For more than 10 results you will get the “About x results” on the first page until
you get to the last page of results and only then we know the exact number of results and hence can omit the “About”.
Note that when you page out in the result set you will notice that the X in the “About X results” can vary quite a lot. That is because the total number of results is estimated based on the collapsing done so far. This is a common way of doing it by other
search engines as well.

Java.io.File give incorrect chinese filenam when using javaw.exe

I am running Chinese Win2000 Pro (SP2) with jre1.3.1 installed. If I use javaw.exe to run my application, java.io.File does not give the correct filename for chinese filename when I use it to run through a directory, though all English filenames show correctly.
When the same program is run by java.exe instead of javaw.exe, the program runs with no problem and all chinese name are obtained successfully from java.io.File. Does anyone know the reason behind this ?
I need to use javaw.exe since I am invoking Java from VC++. I don't want a black command prompt window to pop up behind my java application. Please help.

I am sorry for not replying to ur query. Infact I am facing my own problem and after reading your problem I thought you could help me out in it because you are already successful in invoking java from VC++.
My problem is that I want to invoke java class from VC++ in such a way that I want to capture the stdout of java class that I invoke from VC++ and use it in VC++. Let me explain first thing first. I am not able to invoke java class from withing vc++. I have looked at JNI help on SUN site but it is giving me lots of compilation error when I include JNI.h in my VC++ program. If you could help me out in this problem, it would be great.

No rows returned when using sql in XQuery.

I have a small table on a db with seven cols and three rows. I am doing the following xquery, but the db is returning an empty rowset when I know there sould be 3.

There is no problem with the db connection, as it is one I have used before for doing plain sql searches remotely. Does any one know why this would be happening?

Slow query return when using TAOD

My colleague always use TAOD to run query. ( I tried hard to tell them not, believe me). Even I tuned one of their queries and the return became very fast in the SQLplus mode, the return in the TOAD window was still slow, 10 seconds vs 56 seconds. I wonder what reason that makes the return passing to TOAD slow. Some tuning of Oracle Net or it is on the TOAD side? It occurred when passing to Crystal Report. Any suggestion.

OK, I had applied both statistic optimizations on Dev box Oracle 10g (AIX), and asked my client to use her TAOD, it seemed faster. But I noticed that under the udump, the system generated a trc file with such content.

Incorrect posting key when using BAPI to post the document

Dear Gurus,
We are using a document upload program using BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST. It is for making payments to employees vendors via a mass mode.
Now the payment to then is getting reflected as posting key 21, but we want to use key 25, so that in vendor report the line items for payments gets grouped together.
How can we change this posting key in this BAPI?

Hi,
This BAPI have the posting keys hardcoded based on account type, debit credit etc. You cannot change that in this BAPI.
However I can find an OSS note 487722 which says some extension about this BAPI structure. You can try that to include the Posting Key Field:-

Why do you want to do that, you cannot attach a VO which is not present in the AM. Can you elaborate on your requirement.

How to remove Open/Save prompt when using Internet Explorer

Acrobat XI Pro was deployed with custom MST that had When using Internet Explorer prompt for Open/Save. Is there a hack that will disable this prompt without having to re-install Acrobat XI Pro?

Right click on “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroPDF.FDF.1” and click permissions.
On permissions dialog, click Advanced.
In the new dialog, select Owner tab and make current user as owner.
Click Apply and close the dialog.
Close the permission dialog.
Try editing the registry as suggested.

Cannot return data in Discoverer report when using specific AR tables/views

When using any of the following tables (logged in as Administrator responsibility), I get no data returned...
AR_RECEIVABLE_APPLICATIONS
AR_PAYMENT_SCHEDULES
RA_CUSTOMER_TRX
RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL
When running in TOAD or SQL Plus, I have to set my Org ID to return data. It was my assumption that the security calls would automatically do that in Discoverer when setup as an APPS mode EUL. Discoverer 10g is the version.
Pulling anything from any of those tables results in no rows returned in Discoverer. Is there a special security call I must make in the SQL?

Also you should try another thing.
If you brose data only from AR.RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL do you get any data?
From the 4 "tables" you mentioned this is the only TABLE while all other are views with security mechanism in it.
In the finance the system administrator is not defined so that it will see the whole data, you need to log in using a proper responsibility.
If you already have the sys admin then open the application and add to yourself AR responsibilities such as "%AR Manager", "%AR Superuser" .
After that you can log in with those responsibilities and you'll get the data.

Incorrect data value selected when clicking on slicer entry in Excel Services

We have uploaded various Excel 2013 files containing pivot tables to Sharepoint 2013 and viewed the pivot tables in a browser. The referenced pivot table data is normally a SSAS tabular model. This has been working fine for over 12 months apart
from one irritating feature.
Sometimes a clicked slicer entry does not result in the correct slicer value being selected. This typically occurs after using the mouse scroll button to scroll down a list of entries in a slicer. When using the keyboard arrow keys to highlight a slicer
value and pressing Return to select an entry, the correct value does always seem to be selected - so it appears to point to a mouse scrollwheel issue. Also, after scrolling through slicer entries using the mouse scroll wheel, there appears to be some sort
of slicer refresh problem that results in a blank entry/entries being displayed either at the top or bottom of a slicer. However, sometimes the correct 'tooltip' is shown for this blank slicer entry. One other point - when using the slicer scrollbar the scroll
down a list of slicer entries using Firefox, the problem does not seem to occur. IE does not seem to display the same type of slicer scrollbars (only active when the mouse hovers over the slicer) and so this is more difficult to replicate in Ie.
The worrying factor is that the user is often unaware that the incorrect slicer value has been selected. The problem can be replicated in both IE11 and Firefox. Also our client systems accessed via Citrix display the same problems.

i built the same version, please correct me if should your environment, is sharepoint 2013 with march 2013 update and your office also the same update. in my labbox seems the issue is not re-producible.
after some discussion with my colleague, seems there was issue similar like this back in 2010 Excel and the remedy is to update the excel services and to re-install the power pivot at SQL server. back then the issue is because when we scroll the selection,
it should be locked, so then when we scroll it may have the position to update and refresh the data. one of the workaround is by clicking the item and press enter, by doing this it will refresh the page correctly. the link was:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29074
i tried to look at our update for the excel services 2013, there are updates in every cumulative updates but there is no particlular update regarding this issue, perhaps you may try this to check in your development environment, if should it may fix the
issue.
to re-install the power pivot, you may need to do this on your sql side.

WebI displays incorrect dates when sourced from SAP

We have several issues, all tied to displaying dates from a BEx Query, through the universe, into WebI.
Scenario One: Dates that have a datatype of date will parse in the universe, but will give driver not capable when used in WebI. Could this be tied to an invalid date?
Scenario Two: Dates set with date datatype parse correctly and can be queried in WebI, but return incorrect results. If queried WITHOUT a measure, date appears as one day less than actual date (ex. SAP date = Apr 28, 2009 but universe object set with date datatype shows April 27, 2009. When a measure is added, the same date displays as Sept 27, 1976.
I suspect that we need to modify the data access files in order to accurately convert SAP dates (which by default come into the universe as Character) to a date datatype. If this is the case, are there sample sapen.prm and sap.sbo files to ensure appropriate settings?
Does anyone have additional thoughts on what could be causing this issue? Are there sample sapen.prm and sap.sbo files anyone would be willing to share?

Hi Robin,
If you are using BOE XI 3.1. Then make sure that you apply fixpack 1.4 on it because the issue you are Describing is Fixed in this fix pack.

Teradata database error when using a Universe-defined Date condition

I have encountered an odd problem when connecting Crystal to a Universe. There is a pre-defined Date condition built into the Universe that is defined as follows:
@Select(Date\Week End Date) > @Select(Conditions\User Response Select Date week -28) AND @Select(Date\Week End Date) <= @Select(Conditions\User Response Select Date)
The filter is designed to retrieve a rolling 4 weeks of data.
When I try and create and refresh a Crystal Report that includes this Date prompt, I get the following error:
Failed to retrieve data from the database.
Details: 22003:(ODBC Teradata Driver)(Teradata Database) A character string failed conversion to a numeric value.
If I create the same query in a WebI report it works fine, but in Crystal the error is produced. I have also tried constructing the same prompt and filter within Crystal rather than use the pre-built prompt but that did not work either.
Does anyone have any experience or advice on this error? I can't seem to find many related postings on this specific error.

One item I found I had to do with Teradata was cast my date/time values to dates, otherwise I got weird errors like this. You say it's working in Web Intelligence, so this might not be the issue, but it is an easy thing to test.
In the universe, change your end date definition to
cast(table.end_date as date)
and see if that helps.

ORA-01403: no data found Problem when using AUTOMATIC ROW FETCH to populate a form.
1) Created a FORM on EMP using the wizards. This creates an AUTOMATIC ROW FETCH
TABLE NAME - EMP
Item Containing PRIMARY KEY - P2099_EMPNO
Primary key column - EMPNO
By default the automatic fetch has a ‘Process Error Message’ of ‘Unable to fetch row.’
2) Created a HTML region. Within this region add
text item P2099_FIND_EMPNO
Button GET_EMP to submit
Branch Modified the conditional branch created during button creation to set P2099_EMPNO with &P2099_FIND_EMPNO.
If I then run the page, enter an existing employee number into P2099_EMPNO and press the GET_EMP button the form is populated correctly. But if I enter an employee that does not exist then I get the oracle error ORA-01403: no data found and no form displayed but a message at the top of the page ‘Action Processed’.I was expecting a blank form to be displayed with the message ‘Unable to fetch row.’
I can work around this by making the automated fetch conditional so that it checks the row exists first. Modify the Fetch row from EMP automated fetch so that it is conditional
EXIST (SQL query returns at least one row)

But this means that when the employee exists I must be fetching from the DB twice, once for the condition and then again for the actual row fetch.
Rather than the above work around is there something I can change so I don’t get the Oracle error? I’m now wondering if the automatic row fetch is only supposed to be used when linking a report to a form and that I should be writing the fetch process manually. The reason I haven’t at the moment is I’m trying to stick with the automatic wizard generation as much as I can.
Any ideas?
