Java.io.File give incorrect chinese filenam when using javaw.exe

I am running Chinese Win2000 Pro (SP2) with jre1.3.1 installed. If I use javaw.exe to run my application, java.io.File does not give the correct filename for chinese filename when I use it to run through a directory, though all English filenames show correctly.
When the same program is run by java.exe instead of javaw.exe, the program runs with no problem and all chinese name are obtained successfully from java.io.File. Does anyone know the reason behind this ?
I need to use javaw.exe since I am invoking Java from VC++. I don't want a black command prompt window to pop up behind my java application. Please help.

Hi,
I am sorry for not replying to ur query. Infact I am facing my own problem and after reading your problem I thought you could help me out in it because you are already successful in invoking java from VC++.
My problem is that I want to invoke java class from VC++ in such a way that I want to capture the stdout of java class that I invoke from VC++ and use it in VC++. Let me explain first thing first. I am not able to invoke java class from withing vc++. I have looked at JNI help on SUN site but it is giving me lots of compilation error when I include JNI.h in my VC++ program. If you could help me out in this problem, it would be great.
Thanks in advance.

  • Filename when using -Djbo.debugoutput=file

    Hi!
How can I specify which file to save debug traces when using the option "-Djbo.debugoutput=file" in the Run/Debug panel?

    Hi,
looks as if this is not possible
"One tip to help make sure that your ADF Business Components runtime configuration settings are actually getting set to what you think they are, is to run with the ADF Business Components diagnostics turned on -- which you do by adding the Java VM parameter -Djbo.debugoutput=file -- and then grep through the diagnostics files that will be named bc4j*.log in the system temp directory for the ADF configuration property name. The diagnostic output will tell you the value that it is using for each configuration property, and it will tell you where it read that value from (your configuration "client environment", System Property, etc.)."

  • [SOLVED] E17 - "Incorrect Root Filename" when trying to use edje_decc

    Hi,
I decided to give E17 another try (on Arch this time, last time was on Bodhi) as a second DE.  I wanted to try creating my own theme this time now that I have some more experience with editing configs from using Arch but I am not able to get the "edje_decc" command? to work.  When I run it I get the following error about a "incorrect root filename":
    ERR<10767>:edje_decc edje_decc.c:136 decomp() ERROR: Invalid root filename: '00 '
I found this Arch Topic about it but it is from 2008 and doesn't seem to come to any conclusion as to what the problem was, just that downgrading fixed it.
I also found the following line of code that relates to it but I don't know what it means, maybe it will help someone else understand:
    if (!srcfiles->list->data || !root_filename_is_sane())
    printf("ERROR: Invalid root filename: '%s'\n", (char *) srcfiles->list->data);
    eet_close(ef);
    return 0;
Edit: The full code where I pull the above from is located at This Page , if anyone wants to help by looking further into it.
Anyone got an idea how to fix this or of another way to extract the E17 theme files?

I'm not really sure if I did anything to fix the error or not.  I think I must have just chose themes that did not work when I got the error above.  I ended up trying to install using the easye17 script, then the Arche17, then straight from Enlightenment SVN but none worked on my computer.  Now I'm back on the standard e17-svn package from the Community repo and edje_decc just worked.

  • Cannot rename file with non-ASCII characters when using the

My application moves files from one directory to another by calling File[] srcFiles = srcDir.listFiles() to get a list of files in the source directory, and then calling srcFiles.renameTo(destFile) to rename each file.
This does not work (renameTo returns false and the file is not moved) under the following circumstances:
    - the file's leaf name contains non-ASCII characters, for example ""
    - the OS is Solaris 9
    - the LANG and LC_* environment variables are unset, i.e. the C locale is being used
If I set the LANG environment variable to, for example, en_GB.UTF-8 then the rename succeeds.
I have tried calling srcFiles[index].getName().getBytes("UTF-8") and the non-ASCII characters are being replaced with ? (0x3f) characters when LANG is unset.
Is this a bug in the JRE? I would argue that since my code does not actually manipulate the filename (I just use the File object that File.listFiles() gives me) then the rename should succeed. Of course I would not expect the file name to be displayed correctly if I printed it out.
I have reproduced this behaviour with JDK 1.4.2_05 and 1.5.0_04 on Solaris 9.
    Francis

    Thanks for the info Alan.
I considered setting the locale in the environment (this sounds like the "correct" fix to me and we might implement it later), but this application shares a WebLogic server with many other applications so we would have to do a huge amount of testing to make sure that the locale change wouldn't break the other apps. In the end I worked around the problem by making the code that generates the filenames in the first place strip out any non-ASCII characters (the names of the files are not critically important).
Looking forward to JSR-203, in the meantime perhaps a note about this behaviour in the java.io.File javadoc would be useful.

  • Windows 7 Open and Save As dialog box gives an "Access Denied" when using common Windows Explorer features.

On many computers in our environment we have issues in Windows 7 when using the Common Dialog Box.  Within the dialog box we get the error Access Denied whenever we try to create a folder.  If we try to rename a file it doesn't give an error but
it doesn't work either.  We cannot delete a file, still no error, but we can create shortcut.
Within Windows Explorer of the same user it has no issues.
Even if we run an application as administrator it has the same results.
Example: Open Paint (right click "Run As Administrator"); then File, "Save As", right-click in empty space; then New, Folder.  This caused the error to popup "Unable to create the folder 'New folder'  Access is denied."
    Thanks for your help,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
How are things going? As the article provided above said, for such kind of issues generally it is caused by permission settings.
The article provided several possible solution and please let us know if there is anything unclear about the steps.

  • Customizing filename when using an external editor - can only one filename be used by all editors?

I have a number of external editors defined for my LR 3.3 Win7 application. Within my Preferences, when I customize how an editor, say, Photoshop CS5, handles a file, I can set the name of the edited file - e.g., {Filename}-ed.psd . However, if I change the edited filename for another external editor, say to {Filename}-SilverEfexPro.psd, that filename is used for all externally edited files. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
              Dilip

A side note here; just because it _opens_ the file in your external editor with that name the first time, doesnt' mean that's the name it has
to be saved as.  When you go to save it, select save as, instead of save.  I beleive I have used this technique before, and LR still "finds" the file.
Sometimes even when I don't *want* it to find the file!
    Cheers!

  • App locks sometimes when using System Exe.vi to call QA NWA run files

Using Labview 6.1, system exec.vi to execute "run files" for Northwest Analytical software's Quality Analyst 5.1. The labview application intermittantly locks up without any error messages displayed. Does anyone have any idea of what is going on and how to fix it?

    Hello,
Try changing the "Wait Until Completion" terminal of the System Exec .vi to false. The default is true. This solves several known issues with the System Exec VI, including intermittent hanging when accessing batch files and incorrect timing out.
    I hope this helps!

  • Problem with spaces in filenames when using ODI tools

    Hi everyone,
has anyone of you ever encountered the following behaviour:
When using any ODI tool related to file manipulation the tool does not work if the file parameter value contains a blank/space. Example:
    OdiFileDelete "-DIR=c:temp" "-FILE=Test this.txt" "-RECURSE=NO" "-CASESENS=NO" "-NOFILE_ERROR=YES"
In this case an error will occur saying the file does not exist although it exists in the directory.
Has anyone a workaround for this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hauke

    Hi Madha,
    thanks for the prompt answer.
We decided to rename the files to make the tools work. Definitely not always applicable but in our case it's possible. Any hint why the behaviour is designed like this?

  • How to handle spaces when calling javaw.exe or java.exe

Hi guys, I'm in the process of releasing my application.
My application need to make this system call on Windows.
    C:\Program Files\MySoftware\javaw.exe -jar C:\Program Files\MySoftware\myJar.jar C:\Program Files\MyDocs\MyArgumentFile
this 'Program Files' for after the javaw.exe call: C:\Program Files\MySoftware\myJar.jar causes a problem because javaw.exe consider C:\Program as it's first argument and thus crash.
I wonder what to do with this. I don't want to change it to C:\MySoftware since it looks unprofessional.
    A cup of Java, cheers

~Right, every shell I can think of allows you to use quotation marks around a set of any characters that you want to be treated as one token. Note that this feature is a function of the shell you're using, not necessarily the system API. Also, many shells treat single quotes and double quotes differently, though they usually both accomplish the purpose of grouping what they contain into a single token.

  • Can I temporarily change the filename when using mailDoc?

Here is the situation: I am creating a form that multiple users will open, fill out, and then click a button to email the form using the mailDoc method.
The email goes to an automated document management system that will move the attachment to a folder. If the document management system receives attachments with the same file name it creates a new version of the existing file, rather than amending the file name.
This behavior is not ideal, so I want to change the script to manipulate the name of the attachment based on a field within the form. Is that possible?

The attachment will take the name of the PDF file name that is opened. If you want to chnageth ename of the attachment you will have to save the file as a different filename first. You cannot completely automate this operation without Certifying the file. You can automate the saving of the file and allow the user to choose the new filename....but I doubt that this is what you want.
Other people have solved this by submitting the file to a web server then having the web server post the email. In this way the web server can control the filename.
    Hope that helps

  • Safari: how to autofill filename when using 'download linked file as' option

I usually need to download email attachment to specific folders, not to the downloads folder. When I use "download linked file as" I get the option to choose the location, which is great, but the filename is '0'. I don't want to have to cut and paste the filename every time - why doesn't Safari grab the filename automatically, as it does when you just click download? Is there a way around this? It's a big workflow issue for me, and the reason I switched to Chrome previously .. surely there's a fix for this basic function though?
I'm downloading from Gmail running in my browser.

You can post a screen shot by clicking on the liitle Camera icon above your reply.  :)
Just checked on 10.7.4+, still the same, something is borked about your install, to see if we need to re-install...
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

  • Oracle Press book gives incorrect information about when you are certiifed

SQL Certified Expert Exam Gudie: ISBN: 978-0-07-161421-4
    Page: 12
... and I left (the testing center) a happy and Certified SQL Expert.
    THIS IS WRONG.
When you leave the exam you receive a score report indicating you have passed the exam (I beleive subject to review).
    BUT
You are not certified until either:
    - (1) you receive a success kit from Oracle or
    - (2) it is shown on the Oracle Certview Database.
The distinction is really important as until that time you have agreed not to represent yourself as certified.
This should have read something like .....
... and I left (the testing center) happy knowing that in a few weeks time my certification success should be confirmed in the Oracle Certview Database and my Certification success kits should arrive in a few weeks.
I am forever screaming at people on the Oracle Forums not to represent themselves as certified until they get a success kit or see it on Certview and an Oracle Press book goes against this!!!!!!
    =:-O
I know this is possibly apparent nit-picking in the case of this certification ... but it isn't. I've never heard of it happening, but the exam score can be revised until its confirmed (not that I've ever seen this happen ... and wold be almost impossible except for cheating). For instance the exam delivery software/configuration could glitch and deliver 1z0-051 questions instead of 1z0-047 invalidating ones result.  I know we all know this is impossible but would you be prepared to stake all your worldly goods that this has never happened and will never happen.

  • RAW files give a red tint when processed in photomatix?

What causes or what is the fix, to correct a terrible red tint over HDR photos processed through photomatix 4. It only happens if I process  RAW files from a 5D Mark III, JPEG's process fine.

The internal structure of RAW was changed for 5D3. You should update the program(s) but first ask (or try) to see if the new version of the program supports the new RAW format. It is a common problem with the programs which are based on Dave Coffin's dcraw.
A temporary solution would be to use the Canon's own program which comes with the camera or download a good freeware picture manager / browser (like FastStone Image Viewer - see www.faststone.org ) which supports it and convert the files to JPG (or any other format which Photomatrix reads).
