Incredible 2 acting up

My phone has been acting up and when I went to the Verizon store, they were of no use. Here are my problems:
1) vibrate function doesn't work
2) I am receiving text messages but I cannot access them. I can only see so much in the preview pane but that's it.
I took my phone to Verizon and the sales guy stated that I have one of the worst phones on the market and that he felt sorry for me. He backed up all of my contents on my phone and did a facotry reset to wipe everything off. It worked for about a day and now it doesn't work again.
What is wrong with this phone??
If Verizon can't/won't make this right, I will find a different carrier come my contract renewal!!

Thanks for this additional information Kess. I understand paying retail price for a phone right now can be difficult. I did some research and have not found an issue with the vibrate or incoming text messages. How long has this been an issue? Are you using default text message app, or 3rd party? If default, you can try downloading Handcent message app from the Play Store. Its free and easy to use. That may work.
Although you don't have insurance, do you happen to know if you have an extended warranty? This feature alone costs $1.99 per month.
Another option would be if you have another line on your account that may be eligible to upgrade now that you can use. Then when you become eligible in February, the other line can use yours. You can check eligibility by dialing #UPG, (#874) send, from wireless phone. You'll get free text with upgrade details.
I hope this helps.

  • Another HP Customer Escalations Team Lack of Communication and Warranty Replacement

I have been dealing with issues on my under warranty laptop for the past six months and have had nothing but problems with HP services. I love my laptop and everyone has been very very nice to me, but nothing is being done. I was supposed to receive a box to ship in my laptop to be diagnosed after two technicians could not fix my overheating, touchscreen, USB, and finger scanner issues. The box was supposed to arrive yesterday because I am leaving the country. I never have time to be without my laptop because I am in full time school however I have a week break during this semester change and this was the only time for me to work this out. I am just at the end of my patience here and so I tried sending an email to the Americas Escalation Management Team with this mesage:
    Hello,
I have been in touch with my case manager Catherine regarding my situation over the past couple of weeks. My laptop issues have been going on for over 6 months but I have not been able to send in my laptop to be looked at because I am in full time school. HP has sent out two technicians to try and repair my problems, the first of which I paid for, but nothing has changed. My laptop is still overheating and certain specs such as the touch screen, USB, and finger scanner are still malfunctioning.
Catherine has been absolutely amazing as far as following procedure and helping me as quickly as possible. I do not blame her for any of my problems but I am still in need of help. Her and I had decided to send me a box to ship in my laptop to the repair "factory" and that box was supposed to come yesterday. As I said, I am in full time school but for 6 days I have a break between semester and I am leaving the country during that time. I needed the box to be here yesterday so that I could send it today and then have it returned to me sometime after I returned for the semester. The box is not here and I am leaving in about five hours. I'm not sure where the information relay was confused but at this point I am just very frustrated with HP's service.
My laptop is still under warranty and until this, I have had zero problems and have absolutely loved my laptop. I just feel like my patience is at the end of the line and I do not know where to go at this point. I do not want to give up and lose hope on HP products and customer service because myself and my family have been HP fanatics since I purchased my first laptop, but after talking with those around and other manufacturers, I just feel like I have been dealt the short end of the stick and I do not know how much longer I can hang around.
I do not know where this email is being sent to but please, help me. If it sounds like I am begging, I am. I have no other options at this point and as pathetic as it sounds, my laptop is my life because it is the center of almost every single class I am enrolled in. I won't beat around the bush so to be frank, I believe I deserve a new laptop after everything that I have been put through. Doing so would be an incredible act of kindness and I only hope that this can be done.
Last thing, this email is in no way meant to talk poorly about my case manager Catherine or anything she has done for me. She has been amazing and very helpful. All I ask is that someone can help me.
    Thank you for you time,
... The emails my case manager has sent me had this email address for me to respond to, [Personal Information Removed] but immediately I receive an email saying that this email address is invalid. I am normally  a very patient person but this is pushing me over the edge and I just need help. Clear communication and help is all I ask for.
Hopefully this forum will push my progress a little bit, but I won't even know because I'm leaving the country in 5 hours! Well HP, please help me.

Yaeh right they fixed it. I have a bridge in Brooken New York I will sell you to. You need to cut it off at HP's tech level and contact HP's excutive office and ask to speak with their boss. He will then give you the direct contacts to Chad's office. HP monitor will not allow me to post any of their HP contacts here in the forun. I am sure they will not like it for writing his name Because HP's forum monitors do HP's do not like me posting HP's top CO's dirrect contact information. When I do they will e-mail me and whipe out the information. The real people to contact and not some India HP tech who speaks very poor English. Chad is Catherine's over all boss. You can even ask her that you would like to speak to her boss. If she puts to her supper visor ask their supper visor to put their boss on the phone keep going up the chain untill you have reached Chad's office. He his the top CO for lap top repair center. Then you know your lap top will be fixed or replace. Do not for get to tell him you can cook an egg on your lap top.
    You are welcome,

  • Broken HTC Incredible and Verizon service update

Here is what has went on. Sorry for the length.
    My first post:
Great phone for the 22 hours it worked.
I got my Incredible May 10th, it died May 11th.
Then it stopped charging, the battery goes dead. Red charge light on, green battery icon on top of screen has little lightening bolt thru it. Green indicator moves back and forth like its charging. Tried removing and reinstalling battery.  Sometimes it charges until red light turns green, then its dead within an hour, with the phone completely shut off, not sleeping but OFF. All while still plugged in.
Tried supplied wall charger, Verizon car charger. All the same.
Tried a new battery they sent me. It acts the same.
Took it to the local Verizon store, they said its broken too.
They ordered me a new one on the 17th.
3 hard resets, 3 sessions with tech suport over as many days. Told I will have a new phone June 9th. 30 days after it broke. Just in time for my 30 evaluation period to end. I can have one extra week they said, my how gracious. I dont have the equippment but the time expires just like if I did. They also made me pay another $212 dollars to order the replacement phone. I it get back 2 weeks after they recieve the broken one in return.
Back to my totally reliable Blackberry tour.
I was told by the last tech guy that thats life. Its not Verizons problem its HTC's problem and I am out of luck as far as extending eval time. Or any considerations at all.
Lets see, its Verizons equippment, but not their problem. I got if from them but its not their problem that its junk.
I'm unlucky and thats my fault, they see no liability in my bad luck.
He also said you should never buy a newly released product because they always have problems.
All 3 also said they have not seen or heard of any problems at all with the Incredible.
I must be the only unlucky person in the whole world.
The **bleep** thing worked for a day, one day.
They also said that if there was a refurb available I would get that as a replacement and not a new one so I am lucky there is not a refurb.
Are you kidding me, a phone breaks in one day and they would replace with a refurb????
I work in customer service, I would be fired if I went anywhere near where Verizon is going. "Were sorry for your bad luck" ,"Dont buy newly released equippment", "Its not our problem" , " You only derserve a refurb phone"  that doesnt cut it.
My phone didnt die, Verizons phone died. Period.
I could understand it if it died 4 weeks after I got it. I could see their point after that long. But the next day, get real Verizon???
Frustrated, disappointed, angered, in utter deblief.
The best network, sure. The best customer service, far from it.
    Their reply:
I would like to apologize for the malfunctioning equipment and the poor customer service that you were provide. I will definitely forward this to the correct correspondence to be reviewed. Our Certified Like New phones are tested and guaranteed like new as if you received them straight from the manufacturer. Brand new phones, maybe 10% of the entire inventory are tested for functionality, so it is possible for a bad one to slip out every once in a while. Since you have already purchased a new one and have to wait for it in the mail, I can see what we can do to have your 30 day guarantee extended longer than a week. May I have you mobile number and full name? Please allow me some time to review the account and get with the necessary contacts to see what I can make happen from my end.
Then after 5 days I had to sent a why didnt I hear anything message.
    Then I get this response:
I do apologize and thank you for your patience. I did have my superiors work with your account, however they have advised because you have already accepted the agreement with customer care, we won't be able to go over their agreement.
    My respone to them:
I didn't accept their agreement! Oh my god!!
They didn't give me what I asked for or help solve my issues.
All I was told is what they couldn't do. As well as wouldn't do.
As well as everything I put in my post.
If you're talking about the month to evaluate the new phone.
They didn't give me a choice. What was I supposed to say "naa I don't want an extra week"?
I asked forcefully for my full period, without being irate.
I was told there was no way anyone was going to do that for me.
How in god's name can you say my evaluation period is up when your equipment failed in 22 hours and you could not supply new equipment to evaluate?
How can Verizon take that stance in good faith????
I know now Verizon does not care about one account.
At least mine, on any level.
I will change my stance if you could tell me one thing.
How is any of this my fault?
    Why am I being penalized?
    Am I wrong here people???

i am only posting this to present another side (of the htc di....NOT verizon....lol). they should give people 30 days from when they get the replacement....not the broken one they got initially. anyway, most of the people that come to forums do so to resolve issues, problems, etc. look at all of the threads. they are people with problems, complaints, or questions. they sold 100,000 incredibles in the first few days it was available. and yes, a handful of them have issues. i'd be willing to bet that 7 months ago the forum was filled with brand new bunk moto droids, and that a couple years ago there were at&t forums that were filled with bad iphones recieved. i'm not excusing it. i'm just saying it's brand new and there will be bugs with brand new devices....and some that are just flat out broke. but it seems that 99,000+ of them are just fine. i've been with verizon for ten years and have had no problems. even got some early upgrades. it's a shame that their service appears to have gone downhill, but it's no better with the other carriers. i've just seen a handful of people here that desire to change carriers....and that's fine. but i also suspect they will come across the same bad service once in a while no matter who you go with. this forum is similar to anything else....when you have a bad experience at a restaurant you want to call the manager....nobody calls the manager or visits the forum to tell you how great their service was that day.

  • Suggestion for Incredible Owners

If you care about the 2.2 update.  I got to thinking about a solution that should work.  In order for it to even have a chance we need to e-mail HTC support and make the suggestion.  The more people who do it the more likely it is but even if it isn't pheasible for this update perhaps it can be put in place for future updates.
The problem with Android 2.2 update coming for current HTC phones is Sense UI.  Sense is both a User Interface but also a series of additions to Android.  All of the individual pieces as well as the full UI has to be ported to Android 2.2 which requires tweaking and reprogramming some of the things to utilize all of the features possible while getting rid of some things that are being replaced by Stock Android like Flashlite will be removed to make room for Flash etc.  The suggestion that I am attempting to spread is that we request for the few that care and would appreciate it that they make available a Stock Android 2.2 rom through download or going to the store.  it won't be an OTA so part of the delivery scheduling is removed and it won't have Sense so most of the complexity of porting the OS to the phone will be removed.  It might still take a few weeks because it will have to be tested and approved by Verizon but if you take away the complexities that slow the process we should be able to get it more quickly.
My basic point is Hands-free dialing is more useful to me than any of the Sense extras, and Flash is more useful that Flashlite, and most of the rest of Sense is just eye candy (unnecessary Graphics that make things pretty but don't add substance essentially just taking up system resources).  I wouldn't suggest abandoning Sense there are many that like it.  I wouldn't suggest anything more than The features of 2.2 are more useful and anticipated by me than any of the Sense UI bloatware that I have had to shut off all that I could to save battery anyway, and if it isn't possible to accomidate those of us who are admittedly nerdy tech obsessed or feature hungry/Safety Conscious then that will be considered in future phone purchases.  I expect the Incredible to be amoung the first to be update because of the HTC phones that are currently on the market it is the most popular so more resources will go into updating it first or should anyway.  It isn't just the Incredible that this would help.  Remember the Eris debacle?  How long were they working on the Droid Eris update to 2.0 only to abandon it for 2.1 which still took way too long to get out.    We complained about the Droid but in the grand scheme of Verizon's required testing for software and hardware to be approved it was fairly quick.  All I would like is the option to have it as soon as Verizon will allow it without all the features if I so choose so that I can take advantage of the features of the OS that I will use.
That is all.  Please e-mail HTC customer service with that suggestion and see if we get anywhere.  As I say they may already be preparing Sense with 2.2 for us but if they can start doing this as general practice then perhaps with 3.0 we won't have to wait 6 months if we don't want to and we won't have issues like what happened with the Eris where it being one of the lesser popular phones and a poor seller was the last in line and likely will never see another update.  How long before we're there too?  How many updates will a phone get?  Will it get a full 2 years well if it is as difficult to prepare an update as HTC is saying then we can safely say that if it has a custom UI then you will be lucky to get one good update out of it.  Will we fall to the same thing.  Just look how many phones HTC comes out with in a year's time each bigger and badder than the last.  With this option phones will go instead of from New and shiney to Obsolete in 6 months to being New and Shiney to old news in 6 months.   There is a huge difference.  If it is obsoleted in 6 months Like the Eris was no updates, no fun, and before your updates you can't install any new apps.  If it is Old news in 6 months Like the Droid did ok so it isn't the top of the heap everyone is talking about it but you still can get updates because they aren't an act of congress to come up with, It can still be fun, Still run new apps and software.

Think Incredible owners will get preferential treatment due to the shortage?
I wonder if vzw shot a "big red" bullet at HTC for this shortage problem and created a faster update toward 2.2? Maybe that's why were supposed to get that 720p/hotspot update someday?
I'm sure politically someone got something but the question is what? Probably has nothing to do with this phone.
My guess is that HTC is getting slammed by the customers about 2.2 and they don't have the resources to catch up. Creating new UI's, Phones, pushing updates, fighting legal suites, back orders, shortages,  etc.
I think this company is in over it's head and it's going to take a bit to dig out. When it does thought.... It'll be huge!
Whats that email link? I'll send them a plea.

  • Sensor acting up

    Hi all,
I have my Incredible for 3 weeks now. The past week, the sensor on my Incredicle is acting up. It would press certain keys or application without me touching any of it and would go on like that until I have to turn it off and on again.
Anyone else have issues like these? Is this a malfunction?
    Thank you.

Clean the optical track ball sensor by lightly blowing some air into it. Maybe use a dry q-tip to clean it a little. It's got dirt or something it it making it go crazy.... Been down that road.

  • Droid Incredible SLOW since update

My phone had an update 10/18/2012 at midnight. Ever since that update, my phone is so slow going from screen to screen. If you touch messages or the home button, a loading circle comes up and sits there for a bit before it goes to the screen you want.
It used to be super fast going from screen to screen. I removed most apps hoping that would help, but it has not
    Anyone else had any problems?
    Thanks

        Hi Stephdale17,
Let's get your issue figured out, I want your phone to move lightning fast! I'd first like to ask if you are still experiencing this issue with the Incredible 4G? I have some steps for you, to troubleshoot. Please pull the battery while the phone is powered on. Leave the battery out for approximately 60 seconds. Once this time has passed, re-insert the battery and power the phone on.
Another step would be to put the device in safe mode, to see if an application is causing the issue. Sometimes applications can cause issues after an update, since one or more may not be compatible with the update (this really just depends on what applications you have downloaded to your phone). To put the phone in safe mode, please follow these steps and monitor the device: http://bit.ly/PvOMMS If you notice that the screen is acting like it's old self when in safe mode, then it would seem to be an application causing the issue. To determine which application or file is causing the problem, you will want to remove each application one at a time, then use your device to see if the problem still occurs. If it does, you can re-add the deleted application, and then remove the next application, and so on, until you've identified which application is causing the problem. You can also visit the Google Play website http://bit.ly/ZT8r06 to sign in and view your application history, as well as review other customers' feedback and experiences with the applications.
Please post back with your results, thank you!

  • Droid incredible 2 faulty charging port

I have a droid incredible 2 and have seen numerous posts on this website and on HTC's regarding a faulty charger port and wanted to hear of how people had this issues resolved or not.
Verizon, HTC, and PCD the company that repairs these phones for Verizon or something....all told me "unfortunately that isn't a KNOWN issue with this phone"? and that they are unable to help me unless I just buy a new phone at phone price. Are you serious? How many people have wrote on this forum and HTC's forums about this same exact issue and they want to act like its the first time theyve ever heard about it when I call. Seriously disappointed with the lack of customer service so far on this matter. How can you flat out lie about a problem so commonly discussed?
I am out of my 1 year time frame...but this is still a widely experienced and discussed problem on this phone. A problem is a problem, its not our fault that this port is bad on these phones. Mine just happened to take a little bit longer to surface and I don't think we should be responsible when something happens this way.
I bought a new car charger, wall charger, and even an extended life battery just to be certain it was the port itself. The phone charges 1/5 times that I try, and if so its barely significant.
Has anyone had experience getting their phone exchanged if it was after the 12 month mark?? What should I do. Thanks for any advice.
(In the future I will buy the insurance but I will never buy an HTC phone.)

First all, give it a little bit more time to charge.
If it still doesn't work, make sure the charger is not bad. The phone can be charged either using the wall charger or by plugging the USB cable into your computer. So first test both charging methods. If neither works, I say take your phone to a Verizon store and ask them to charge it using their charger. If they can charge it then likely your charger or USB cable might be bad. If they can't charge either then something is wrong with the phone or the battery.
Now about the loose charge port, one  likely cause is the black frame around the port that is making noise. I know that because I had the same problem and I took my phone to the store and asked them to show me another brand new phone and it had exactly the same problem. If you open the back cover you can see why. This problem shouldn't affect anything other than being annoying.
Edit: Didn't see your edit about light blinking when I wrote my reply. Could it be battery overheating? Or could it be bacause your phone is turned off while it's being charged. I have seen in other forums that people were saying it blinks if the phone is turned off or the battery is nearly dead.

  • Droid Incredible 2 - phone will not open, people will not open, etc.

Last week my Droid Incredible 2 started acting funny. First I can no longer open the phone tab to make a call. I also can not see my contacts through the people icon. When i get a message I also no longer see the photos and names, only the phone number. Everything else on the phone is working. I also receive an error which says "Google services framework (process com. google. process. gapps) Stopped unexpectedly". I have powered the phone off and let it sit then powered back on a few times this has not fixed the problem. I have the most current update. It seems like a software issue, but not sure how to fix it. Any help would be great! Thanks

Have you tried pulling the battery, letting the phone sit for half a minute, re-inserting the battery and restarting the phone?  A battery pull does a soft reset and often solves problems like this.

  • HELP!!! Droid X or Droid Incredible???  I'm aware of shipping date on DINC... but.....

Okay - so I went to my Verizon store almost 2 wks ago and spoke to the rep we had worked with in the past regarding getting rid of my BB Tour (worst BB ever IMHO!!!) and was told (quietly) to hold out until the new DX was released on 7/15.  When I got home, I checked out the DroidX and was completely enamoured with Droid and totally over Verizon even getting the iphone (gasp - esp now that I've seen how awesome android is and heard about all the problems w/ the iphone4) ~ but I also noticed the HTC Droid Incredible and seemed to like the screen and size.  So again, I went into my Verizon store to see if I could get my hands on both to see what I wanted to do.  I've been waiting VERY patiently w a crappy phone just waiting for something to come along that I'd be happy with.  I was really set to just go ahead and order my DINC but the rep I normally work with wasn't there and the mgr had referred me to another rep.  Very nice guy but really talked up the DX and I was really quite impressed.  The ONLY thing I HATE about the DX is the SIZE!!!  Now, I understand the screen itself is huge, but honestly I didn't fit into my pocket and sometimes I like to put it into my front pocket.  I also didn't like how square it was.  On the positive side thought, it is going to blow the iphone away.
So, I guess here's my dilemma (sorry it's taken so long to get here) ~ do I go ahead and order the DINC since the size is more along the lines of what I'd be comfortable with or just say forget about the size and just get the coolest phone on the market (not to mention Motorola makes pretty good sounding phones)???  Essentially, what are the differences between the two phones?  I know DX has the HDMI, while that is a cool feature, I am not concerned about that - the DINC has the cool amoled (sp?) screen, but that seems to be what's holding up the backlog of phones.  I was told that if I ordered the DINC it would take 4-5 wks.  Can someone give me any advice?  I have small hands and the DX feels like I've stepped back into the 80's with the brick cell phone.  I can't seem to find the differences between the two phones and maybe if someone could tell me that, I could make a decision... do I wake up early to wait in line on the 15th or not????  I don't want to get the DX and then not really like it a couple months later (like the BB Tour) ~ ( I am going to also post this in the Droid X forum )
    Thanks!!!

Thank you all for your help - I read everyone's comments this morning and decided to go to my Verizon store and order the incredible after all.  I made my hubby come with me because he usually gets my sloppy seconds when it comes to electronics (hehe) and he said that even with his big hands he couldn't see himself  using the DroidX, especially since he's not really a techogeek   He had a hard time adjusting to the BB Tour cuz he felt it was too big!!!  It was funny when I was in the store placing my order, the sales rep I had spent over an hour with the other night said he thought I was going to come in to order the DINC and he whispered that it's a decent phone overall (afterall he IS a salesperson right? of course he would try to sell me the best and new phone).  The manager I was speaking to before the sales guy Chris I was working with kinda made me angry because he acted like I was foolish for wanting the DINC... I am hoping that all the people that have already ordered the DINC will cancel to get their hands on the DX and make mine come in quicker
In regards to going to Amazon or Best Buy (our Best Buy didn't have any either) to order, I've decided that I would hold out since I've been waiting for awhile anyway.  Besides, if something was wrong with the phone or I didn't like it after all, I could go back to my VZ store and pay a restocking fee and get a different phone a lot easier than returning it to amazon.
So like the rest of you that are waiting, I've joined your little cult... I'll be waiting patiently...  unfortunately size does matter in this case LOL!!!!

  • My Droid Incredible Rant!!!!

Obviously there is something wrong with this phone to have that many complaints. If your phone is working fine good hope it stays that way i know mine worked fine for a while but it seems like after the update it never works. What is frustrating me is that people think this is our fault this is happening that we downloaded some messed up app or our sd card is corrupt but how do you explain getting 3 different phones not putting and sd card and not downloading any apps. It doesnt make sense unless there is a problem with the phone itself.
Now dont get me wrong the incredible was the best phone i had ever owned and when it works i love it but im paying $120 a month for a phone that is basically useless to me. Its very frustrating when you call verizon and they act like ohhhh i wonder what could be the problem knowing that youve called at least 7 or 8 times before trying to get help with the problem. Ive held off for 4 months now hoping theyd figure out the problem and get it fixed but they arent even admitting these phones have problems. Today i called again because my 3rd replacement phone wouldnt even work for more then 5 minutes and spoke calmly with a verizon rep and they got down the problem and sent me over to tier 2 tech support. Now the lady tells me like this would you be interested in another model. I tell yes i would i love this phone but its useless to me so i would appreciate getting something of equal or greater value. She then goes on to say oh im sorry i should have explained myself a little better i mean do you want me to send you a replacement phone.
I just laughed and said really thats all your going to do after 3 months of waiting and being patient and allowing you guys to make this bad situation right she then tells me well i can get you a new two year contract and you can pay for a brand new phone. Its like this some of us cant afford to pay for a $250 phone right  now and honestly why should i when this is not my fault. Ive never been late on my bill not once so why are they allowed to provide horrible service and give us the run around. I really dont know what to do but hopefully a Class Action Lawsuit comes out of this because this is a horrible situation for people who need there phone. Im off to phoenix in a week to train for a new job so hopefully this new phone works.

My phone does not appear to receive OTA updates.  I have the original software build of Android that came with the phone last May. I have tried:
factory reset- twice. Once on 3G, once on Wi-fi
manually updating Froyo, didn't work because I'm missing an update that came out the end of May
resetting the date and doing  #*#*checkin*#*#,
factory reset, reset date, do checkin. Only once on 3G with full bars.
Nothing works. I have called customer service and they tried to do a force update, and that did not work. When I have taken the phone to the main store in  my area, I was told  "Wait for the update, it will update eventually". I was told that just this Monday. I asked about getting a replacement phone, and was told that since nothing was wrong with the phone, other than needing to wait for the Froyo update, it was not replaceable under warranty or with Asurion. The only good thing is I can now restore all of my apps from the market place in record time. My husband's phone updates just fine. He got Froyo in October, and has had updates since then.
I love, love, love my phone! I just want the software to be current. At this rate I will just wait until I am eligible for an upgrade in December and go with the Thunderbolt, or whatever new shiny phone is out by then.
I someone has the files that I need to manually update to Froyo I would be grateful. Or something I haven't tried yet?

  • Droid X or Droid Incredible?? I'm aware of shipping date for DINC but....

I don't want to get the DX and then not really like it a couple months later (like the BB Tour) ~ ( I am going to also post this in the DINC forum )
    Thanks!!!

Thank you all for your help - I read everyone's comments this morning and decided to go to my Verizon store and order the incredible after all.  I made my hubby come with me because he usually gets my sloppy seconds when it comes to electronics (hehe) and he said that even with his big hands he couldn't see himself  using the DroidX, especially since he's not really a techogeek (he did admit that is was unbelievably fast and really cool!!!)    He had a hard time adjusting to the BB Tour cuz he felt it was too big!!!
The fact that the DX has 720 vid & HDMI are very cool features, but not a deciding factor for me.  One thing I couldn't compromise was size unfortunately size does matter in this case LOL!!!!
@E-Brock - The Tour I believe is not even being sold anymore, in my heart of hearts I wanted a touch screen phone and at the time BB only had the Storm and we are all well aware of the horrible reviews that phone got.  So a salesguy talked me into the Tour.  I have to say I do like the keyboard on it but really hated the track ball (I had a Pearl before that) - now they have the Curve or Bold with the touchpad type joystick, if I was going to do another BB that's what I would get (actually I'd get the violet curve - I am a chick afterall ) they seem to move very well and easy to navigate, the screens are nicer than the Tour as well.  My Tour I've had to hard reset numerous times and battery pull more than necessary.  I think BB's are nice phones and I've always had great reception, but my tour was very slow for the internet. Hope this helps!! Good luck!!!

  • My MacBook was acting weird so I restarted it and when I login a white screen flashes and goes back to the login page. Help?

My MacBook was acting weird like sometimes I would log on and I wouldn't be able to type my password for a couple seconds, but it usually logged in after that. Then I left my computer open after installing the recent update after that all my applications were not responding. So I shut it down, when I turned it back on about an hour later it went to this loading screen and then to the login like usual. After I tried logging in a white screen flashed and it went back to the login/ password screen like nothing happened. Any ideas on what happened and what I can do to fix it?

    Reinstall OS X;
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock? I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on and start playing that Radio Station from Sleep mode at spec

Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock?
I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on from Sleep mode and start playing that Radio Station at specific times of the day?
Any App or plug-in that does that?
    Many thanks

Turning your Mac into a clock radio.
    1.  In iTunes create a playlist that contains just the radio station you want to wake up to.
    2.  Export the playlist (as .m3u works well).  Get Info on your playlist file and look at the Open With entry to make sure it points to iTunes, VLC or some other app that will stream your station.
    3.  In iCal create an event entry at the time you want to wake up.
    4.  Right (or Control) click on your wakeup event and select Get Info.
    5.  For "alarm" select Open File.
    6.  Now under Open File there will be a place to add the file to open.  It will probably be some default entry (like iCal).  Click on it will allow you to select "other."  Then use the file dialog to select your playlist file.
Your Mac will wake you up at the appointed time.  You don't need to keep iCal running.  If you want to put you Mac to sleep for the night then there is one more thing you need to do.  Open System Preferences to Energy Saver and click on the Schedule button.  Check Start up or wake and set the wake up time to slightly before your iCal alarm time.

  • Accidentally overwrote iPhone with iPod on iTunes.  How do I get my data back?  Now iPhone acts like iPod.

Hooked iPhone onto Mac to download songs from iTunes.  Accidentally restored it as the iPod previously used.  Now all data, pictures, content erased from iPhone.  Now it acts as an iPod.  iPhone was never synced with the Mac nor backed up.  It will now, but how do I revert to the old iPhone?

The hard drive cannot be damaged any further by simply removing it and then putting it back in. If it was getting progressively worse, it may now be at a point where the data is not accessible in any normal way.
Since your iMac is still covered by warranty until December, you need to get it fixed. That is the first step. Whether you can recover your data or not, you need a working iMac. Ask the Apple Store to give back the broken hard drive so that you can send it to a data recovery shop, even if you do not intend to do so. If Apple says they need to retain the old drive (since it is being repair under warranty), take it to an Apple authorized repair shop (who can do the same work under warranty) that will let you keep the old drive.
After getting your iMac fixed and working normally, you can try to recover the data. You may be able to access it through a USB or FireWire external case. But if the drive is not at least visible in Disk Utility, I don't think other utilities such as Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro will help.
