InDesign 2.0 doesn't launch, but Automator does--???

I know you must be thinking... InDesign CS2, but actually I am still using InDesign 2. Some files are just not built in anything too new that we receive.
The issue is, when I have lately tried to launch ID2, Automator window comes up instead. I have no idea how to get out of the Automator mode to simply open ID2. I have ID2, IDCS and IDCS2 on one machine. Platform is Mac 10.4.11 (Tiger). The other versions seem to launch normally...
Has anybody got a suggestion?

Harbs, you have hit the nail on the head. I sheepishly admit my mistaken memory of having run InD 2 on current machine, but we have had musical Macs (remember musical chairs?) and the last swap I don't think I migrated my apps with that knowledge in mind. It definitely is not compatible with OS Tiger. It would not let me re-associate program at all and I see Adobe compatibility is only for up to Jaguar...
Sorry for the time-waster, I should have double checked all the obvious first steps before starting this thread...

Job doesn't work - but procedure does

Hi all,
I found some curious - for me.
I added a job for a procedure. The procedure contains 3 execute immediate with create table statements. The tables will be created on the current database, where the procedure runs. But the third statement select the datas from my table from another database (normal: select * from mytable ; 3.: select * from mytable@SERVER3). The 2 servers have a connection.
And now the curious:
If I start then procedure everything runs without errors or warnings. All tables will be created.
If I start the job manually (I use TOAD for Oracel: Execute this job immediately) it also runs fine.
But if the job starts automatically, the two select runs normaly, but the third doesn't. It must be in connection with the other database. Until now no admin here could help me or could say me how to solve the problem.
Now I hope that someone in these forum knows the problem and could help me.

I can't create a dblink - insufficient privileges. But our Admin created on. But it didn't worked. I mean, we had the same problems as before.
But I have a problem with the scheduler - which should solve the problem also. The folowing doesn't work:

/dev entry doesn't exist but /devices does!

I have a pseudo dd that seems to install and attach ok.
There is an entry in /devices but none in /dev.
I've tried modifying devlinks.tab and running devlinks, but this doesn't help.
Its nearly there(I think) - any advice or pointers would be appreciated.

use correct syntax i.e tab space before /D and
also give driver name and minor name correctly.
no need to run devlinks when u say add_drv devlinks
get automatically executed.

Powershell reports that AD group doesn't exist (but it does)

Starting about two weeks ago, my Powershell script to verify that groups exist before attempting to add a user to them has started reporting that a particular group does not exist, even though it does.
It's not a new group, it doesn't have a horrific number of members, it's set up the same way as similar groups, has been around for a long time, has the same properties as similar groups, it's not disabled, etc. From the AD side I can see absolutely
nothing wrong. I can add users to it with no problem. And yet Get-ADGroup insists that it doesn't exist.
I know this isn't a Powershell failure because it's accurately finding every other group. It's just this particular one.
I did notify our "AD guy" but he hasn't had time to look into it. I'm hoping that I can get a jump-start on identifying and thus fixing the problem by posting this question.
I apologize for the lack of detail - I'll be happy to provide more info if I know what you need!

Does this happen from all computers running powershell or just one? Are you using the full dn when referencing the group

It is happening to any user on any computer. We're not using the full dn - the cmdlet used is "get-adgroup 'admin-mke'. Interestingly though, when I tried the dn instead, it does find the group: get-adgroup -identity 'cn=admin-mke,ou=exchange
groups,dc=na,dc=qb,dc=llp'.
Does that suggest that it IS a Powershell issue after all? It's just strange because it used to work, and all the other groups can be found with the simpler cmdlet.

Static doesn't work, but Dynamic does for surfing the web

Because I wanted some static IP addresses on my network I set the IP Distribution Range on my Actiontec router to 192.168.1.42 – 192.168.1.254. I then assigned static IP addresses to my network printers and 3 computers. For a while everything worked as expected. However, after making a few additional, unrelated changes (rename DNS server host names) two of the three computers were blocked from access to the Internet. The computers appeared in the routers list of devices on the LAN and the computers had full access to other devices on the LAN, but could not get out to the web. One of the computers is a laptop. The wireless connection worked fine just the Ethernet connection would not work. If I changed the setting on the computers to use DHCP the problem was resolved. Any idea what is blocking the static IP addresses from working?

Thank you. Adding DNS server IP address solved the problem. I had left the primary and secondary DNS addresses blank because Verizon tech support had told me, when I asked what DNS server Verizon favored, that they used Dynamic DNS servers and had no specific address to offer.
I noticed that the Actiontec has assigned to specific IP addresses ( 71.242.0.12 and 71.252.0.12). I stuck those in the TCP/IP property page and all seems to be well. Thanks again for your advise.

SFTP - CyberDuck doesn't work, but WinSCP does?

I'm having issues connecting remotely to a server. Here are the details:
I am running Mac OS X Server, 10.4.11. The G5 (the server in question) is located in the main building and we have a satellite office that connects to it via SFTP. We have both PCs and Macs. Macs would connect using Cyberduck, and PCs connect with WinSCP. After doing some updates yesterday (not 10.4.11, but stuff like Quicktime, iTunes, Java, maybe Security update but I don't remember, etc), Cyberduck cannot stay connected. WinSCP does not have a problem.
Thinking that it may be a Cyberduck related issue, I tried other software like FireFTP (Firefox add-on), CuteFTP and sftp itself from the command line. I notice that it does successfully connect, but then terminates the connection.
Something interesting to note: my admin user, which is the only "local account" does not have any problems. I can connect with all the above stated programs.
Also, I can connect via ssh with any user as well via the command line.
I ran sftp -v from the command line and noticed that I was in fact connecting to the server, then being disconnected. Here are some of the errors I receive:

Also, I can't recreate the error I got at one point, but I also received an error stating:

This weekend I was able to fix the issue.
I downloaded 10.4.11 Combo Updater and installed it. After a reboot, all was well. I believe that the previous updates I did had something to do with the issues.

Mail launches but window does not appear

After working for some time, Mail now launches, the doc icon bounces once and then the application stops responding. Must force quit to exit. Any suggestions?

This macro should take you to a compose mail if you are logged in.

My iPad says that it sent a page to my printer, but it doesn't print (but printer does respond to iPhone)

I have printed from the iPad before, but now when I try to print, it goes through the process of contacting the printer, says it sent the job to the printer, and then nothing. Meanwhile, if I do the same from my iPhone to same printer on same wireless network, no problem.

I have a LaserJet Pro 1606dn. Windows 7 Pro computers print with no issues. A Windows 8 computer gets an error "Error printing on LaserJet Professional could not print document." However, the document prints. All updates have been applied. It happens every time, regardless of application. I see that you are having an issue with a message that states the printer is not going to print but it actually does.
I do have a few suggestions we can try.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
The other step I think we should try is to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Get('XML') doesn't work, but get() does in javascript - CASCADING LOVs

I'm trying to get cascading LOVs working in Apex 3.1.0 in Oracle 11g. When I call get.get('XML') it returns null in firefox and empty string in IE6. If I change it to call get.get() then it returns the XML as a string into Javascript.
The Application process is getting called in both scenarios as i've put PL/SQL logging to disk in order to prove it. The XML being returned is very basic so i'm sure it's not a problem with formatting. I'm not getting any exceptions thrown in javascript either.
Is it possible to use get.get() and then convert the text into an XML object which is returned as per get.get('XML') which at least will allow me to get something working ?

Finder doesn't launch properly

My finder doesn't launch properly and does not respond each time I start up my mac. I can't seem to click on anything. I'm still able to open applications like iTunes but my computer will just keep bonging after i've done so. The problem will resolve after I relaunch my finder. Although this may seem like a small matter, the problem keeps coming back as and when I'm using the computer. This started only after updating the system to 10.5.8, when my screen only showed a grey screen post-installaion. I had to off the mac maunally by holding on the power button. I've updated the system to 10.6, but that wouldn't solve the problem.
Utility check is fine.
Will someone please help me? This is the first mac that i have, and i've just converted from windows, having given up hope on it.

I'm leaning towards backing up your data, erase the disk, and reinstall SL. There appears to be a system-wide problem that has hung around from your previous system. Trying to hunt down the problem will likely take longer than doing the erase and install and re-importing your data.

User Property changes show up on the outlook 2013 UI correctly but it does not show up on the MailItem User Properties in Shared Account between PCs Environment

I have written an Outlook Add-In to add several User Properties to our incoming emails. This add-in will be installed in 100 computers in different states and our Exchange server is hosted in our datacenter in CA.
Everything works great but there is an odd thing happens and that is when one PC changes a UserProperty Value all the other PCs show up that change on their outlook UIs but when I get the MailItem object from the same other PC is
not showing the changes. But if I shutdown outlook on that PC and open it up again the changes will be showing up in the MailItem object. It seems to me that MailItem doesn't refresh but UI does.
Does anyone know how I can refresh the MailItem after its UserProperties has been changed from another pc in a shared account environment.

Outlook will not see the latest changes downloaded from Exchange (or changed through MAPI bypassing the Outlook Object Model on the local machine) until the MailItem object is completely released and reopened. The explorer list shows the changes since it
is fed off the underlying folder contents table, not the cached MailItem object.
There is nothing you can unless you make sure the MailItem object is released and is never kept referenced fro any prolonged periods of time.

that s just the problem, that is why my level of frustration is boiling over ... I have told InDesign over and over again "Do Not Show Again" but it will just not hold the settings. It might hold it for a day or so, but then suddenly there it is again on another launch. Very very annoying.
