InDesign CS4 download version install problems

This is both a question, and possibly a warning.
I bought the Id CS4 upgrade online and downloaded the dmg. Firstly, when I tried to burn the image to a DVD, which I've done in the past, Toast threw up an error saying it was not a recognised image format. I opened the dmg and copied the files into a new disc image and burned that instead.
When I went to install, it would not accept the license key, which was copied from the email. When I ran it directly from the dmg, it accepted it and installed with no issue at all.
Does this mean the serial number is tied directly to the downloaded image or did I miss some hidden files when I created the DVD? Either way, it's worth remembering if you're going to burn and discard the original.

I'm having a similar problem except that instead of dying, I get an error message about an invalid staging area. I'm trying to install 9i on Windows XP. Any help would be appreciated!

Installing Indesign CS4 Trial Version

I am trying to download the trial version of Indesign CS4, when I get it downloaded and try to launch it says opening adbeidsncs4_LS1.dmg it goes through but when it is complete a screen pops up that says 'the following disk images failed to mount--abdesidsncs4_LS1.dm invalid checksum. But if I don't let it complete the screen that says opening abdeidsncs4_LS1.dmg if I open Indesign it will work but there is no tool bar. I have tried to uninstall it and re-install it but it is still doing the same thing.

Two possibilities come to mind.
First, the download was damaged and you should try downloading the trial again.
Second, you are installing a non-US English localized version. There are known issue with these versions. See http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408055.html

I purchased Lightroom 5 and tried to download and installing problem

I purchased Lightroom 5 and tried to install the same to my Laptop, due to server connectivity problem i could not complete the download or the downloaded version is not opeing. I tried it to download againg/repeatedly. now its show i cant downlaod the program as i tried to downlaod it 5 times?
Pls help me to download the program and intsall the same properly in to my computer.

Indesign CS4 PC version on a macbook pro

I have an opportunity to pick up a macbook pro 13, but I have the PC version of indesign CS4. Any comments on how this will run on the mac, using something like Bootcamp or parallels? Same question of photoshop CS5 for PC.

Thanks for both answers, I haven't used a Mac since my Mac Plus, circa 1989, became obsolete. So these answers are very helpful.
I do (now) understand that bootcamp is like a dual boot system, so I will not have access to the mac programs while running it under windows.
I'm a photographer, and am trying to get a handle on if this is the right choice, or go with another Dell laptop.
I've always liked the Mac hardware, OSX seems to be a very robust OS, with a lot I like about it. But I'm wondering if I'm inviting headaches with trying to run a PC home system, and a mac laptop. Juggling flies between the systems, backups etc. I'll also be running adobe Lightroom, probably my most used program when on the road, which does allow installation on Mac or PC, so no problems there.

DOWNLOAD and INSTALL problems

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name - download-west.oracle.com
- Filename - Disk1, Disk2, Disk3
- Date/Time - Saturday, Sunday, Monday - Aug. 3, 4, 5
- Browser + Version - Internet Explorer 6.0
- O/S + Version Windows2000 Server
- Error Msg - No Msg
After several attempts, finally I succeed to download the three files and to unzip them. But when I tried to run the installation program (the so-called Universal Installer) from
Disk1 directory, it did not run it died! I repeated the entire procedure several times (I wasted three days playing with this) with the same result. How can you explain me this issue and what can I do in order to get Oracle9i successfully downloaded and installed?

Adobe InDesign CS4 + Mathtype, ps2pdf conversion problem

We have typset the pages using the Adobe InDesign CS4 + MathType 6.0 using the Macintosh. We are facing the problem PS to PDF converion, the error message is:

The fonts were used on the Math is Euclid Symbol. Whereas, my deliverable product is application file, equations, images and PDF (which converted using their distiller setting). It would be great if any one can suggest how to overcome this problem!

I don't remember seeing this exact problem, but I've had numerous issues with Indesign CS4 / MathType. (Though it really blew up in CS5, which no longer recognizes the obliqued Symbol font used by MathType, and replaces it with a generic font). Design Science told me that their next update -- which is waiting on the next update to MS Word for Mac, originally due this fall -- would fix the problems, and I wish them much luck.
First, I'd try Exporting to PDF rather than going through a PS file stage. It's generally more reliable.
I'd also clean out the font caches from Indesign CS.
If that doesn't work, examine your computer closely for different versions of the Symbol font. There's probably one in the system library from Apple, one or two in your User library (like the Truetype and Postscript versions that came with MathType), maybe one a gift from Microsoft, and probably one in the Adobe applications folders as well. Unfortunately, they're all slightly different. Conflicts between these may be causing your trouble. Delete or remove all but one, and see if your applications still run -- you probably want to open and save each equation from MathType using the "new" font, then update links in Indesign after each change, so working on a test document with one equation would be best. If one font works, stick with that one.
I'm sincerely hoping that in the next version of MathType we'll be able to use OpenType fonts for the Greek characters -- Symbol has gotten pretty buggy over the years.

Downloading and Installing Problem of IOS 4.2 to IPad Wifi 3G 64 GB

I've tried downloading and installing IOS 4.2 trough ITunes to my IPad Wifi 3G 64 GB, but it always failed.
Could someone tell me how to do it? The error message said that it took too long to download IOS 4.2 (12 Minutes) and the server has denied the action.

Downloading and installing problem

I am trying to download and install Premiere Elements. It's been a huge hassle, but at last I've got to the stage where I get the message:

I downloaded the second (.exe) file and tried to execute it. I got the error message:
The file archive part of Adobe Premiere Elements 12 is missing. You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe Premiere Elements 12. Please download all parts.
What do I do now?

Thanks for the response. After I posted, I downloaded the two files again, saving both in a defined folder. I then ran the .exe file and it all seemed to work OK.
I appreciate your help. I also suggest that Adobe reviews the download mechanism - this was too difficult for ordinary users.

Photoshop CS4 Trial version install error

Hello. I've downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS4 Extended.
When I click the setup.exe it starts running and works until it reaches the loading setup menu.
Then a error pops up.
The title of the message box is "Windows Internet Explorer" and the message is "Critical errors were found in setup." And it also said to look in the setup log.
The log file contained this message " FATAL
Critical errors were found in setup
TypeError:'undefined' is null or not an object"
I'm using XP (SP3) and my computer is well above the minimum requirements.
Does anyone know why this is occurring?

What other software is on your system? What version of Internet Explorer? The error you describe sounds like you never bothered to update IE and thus the proper mechanisms for running and displaying the install screens are not in place. If automatic update does not offer the respective options, I recommend downloading the standalone installer for IE7 (or even the IE8 Beta) as well as double-checking whether your .NET runtime 1.1 is also in place. The latter should only be required on Vista, but even on XP it has the positive sideeffect of fixing a few broken DLL connections/ assignments, so it may be just what you need.

CS4 Master Collection install problem..

I'm trying to install CS4 Master Collection but then it gives an error and says..
CS4 Master Collection can only be installed with xp service pack 3 or vista service pack 1.
i do have vista service pack 2 but CS4 Master Collection came out after service pack 2..
how come it doesn't work? Does someone has a solution for this problem?

There is no Vista SP2 except in beta form which you certainly shouldn't
have installed on a production machine.
But I find the XP SP3 message odd since the requirement is SP2, though
SP3 is recommended. SP2 shouldn't stop the install.

Need help with a download and install problem with PS Elements-Elements opens but Premier has error popup

I purchased PS Elements and Premier Elements through Academic Superstore as a download on Aug. 8, 2014. I am installing on a MAC Book Pro 10.9.4, and have tried reinstalling 3 times. I also searched the error messages on support and could not find the error I am getting. Every time I am able to open the Elements file will open and work, but the Premier file has a window pop up that says: The Following disk images couldn't be opened: Image - PremiereElements_12_WWEFDJ.dmg Reason - image not recognized. Does anyone have a solution?

Why does InDesign successfully download and install but quit upon launch?

I've successfully downloaded, installed and launched 4 CS6 apps, but the 5th, InDesign, quits unexpectedly upon launch.
I'm running Mac OS 10.8.2. I'd originally migrated the apps from an older machine, but realized that wasn't working, so I deactivated the apps on the old machine, and uninstalled the apps on the new and reinstalled. All launch fine, except InDesign. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but no luck. Thanks for any and all help!

InDesign CS4 will not install

THE PROBLEM: buy clicking on the .exe file the DVD starts-up but doesn't get any further! swapped the DVD drive still no joy! Have tried everything from the Adobe TechNote: installing in "simple mode" from the desktop, virus scanner de-installed all 2 nothing. Not even a error message it just does not start the installation process. Tried on another PC and it works fine (although extremely slowly).OUR SYSTEM: We are running Window XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 2, Pentium 4 with 3.00 GHz, 2 Gig of RAM. Anyone any clues?

Turn off any firewalls temporarily. I have very similar systems, and it went through with nothing more than turning off anti-virus on both my desktop and laptop, so it's likely to be something conflicting on this particular machine. I'd be inclined to try running MSConfig and turn off everything in the startup tab that you know is not essential for the system to work, and do the same for all non-microsoft services in the services tab, but make sure you don't disable Bonjour, if it's there, as it's used by the installer (or was in the last version). Some scanner drivers were problematic in CS3, as were iTunes and browser toolbars.
If it appears to be hung, take a look in task manager an see if it's running. Perhaps it's off-screen and you can get it to come back by playing with minimize/maximize or switch to commands.
Not much more I can think of at the moment.

That's not the way to do it, you need a couple more steps.
Insert the CS4 'Extras' DVD (something like that; it's clearly labeled). From within the "Install new fonts" dialog, browse to the DVD and in there to the folder containing the fonts you want to install. If you are there, wait a bit while the list is being read. If the list fills up, select the ones you want to install (or simply choose "Select All") and press OK.
(Note that this has
i nothing
to do with InDesign. It's your basic Windows base. Buy any guide and you'll find it there.)
