InDesign CS4 Server (Debug version) crashing for XMLCreateElementCmd

Hi All,
I am trying to create an empty tag element in a document using CreateElement method of IXMLElementCommands.
Utils<IXMLElementCommands>()->CreateElement(wTagName,kInvalidUID,parentRef,childCnt,&tagXM LRef,kFalse);
where wTagName is th widestring containing the Tag name,parentref is tha parent reference,childCnt is the index in parent.
The server crashes at this point in debug build saying
XMLCreateElementCmd::SetUpTarget: nil DB
Command::SetTarget(): nil db pointer.
Any ideas what could be the reason or where am I going wrong.

parentRef is the XMLReference of the root element of the document. And I am able to create an empty element properly under the <Root> element by this code in the Release build. But the server crashes while shutting down that's why tried building the plugin in the debug version.
Anyways. The problem has been resolved (Server not crashing at this point but somewhere else now . Will have to look into it ).
I added another boolean parameter(doVerify) for debug build. The create element statement looks like this now.
Utils<IXMLElementCommands>()->CreateElement(wTagName,kInvalidUID,parentRef,childCnt,&tagXM LRef,kFalse);

Debug version of Adobe InDesign CS4 Server

Hi All,
I have installed Debug version of Adobe InDesign CS4 Server on my PC. It gets install properly. When I try to start the server it gives me such error "The system cannot execute the specified program."
I have written following command to start the server.
eg.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4 Server>Indesignserver
So please tell me if there is another command to start the server or the set up that I have is not proper.

InDesign CS4 Server serialisation

Hi guys,
I'm installing a InDesign CS4 Server on Windows 2003 Server for Small Business Server, Service Pack 2. 4Gb available on C:drive,Intel Xeon 3.2Ghz, 4Gb Ram
The machine had InDesign CS3 Server installed previously.
1. Uninstalled InDesign CS3 Server
2. Rebooted Machine.
3. Installed CS4 Server
4. Installed latest Rapid Release
5. Setup Win Service
and wondered why I wasn't prompted for the serial number at start of install. (ok, I hear you... should have read the read-me file first to see if anything in the installation process had changed...).
So I stopped the ID-Service and then ran the command-line serialisation at this point.
Checked in TaskManager no ID Server was running.
However the serialisation hangs after:

And the serialisation process seems to launch two processes at this stage: InDesignServer.com and InDesignServer.exe.
Which is right before this step... which is repeated twice and then the cursor just sits there... (doing nothing).

At this stage I'm scheduling a full uninstall/reinstall for Thursday if things aren't resolved today (Wednesday).

That looks correct - InDesignServer is up & running, waiting for commands, or a control-c to quit.
InDesignServer.com is a shell app which launches InDesignServer.exe, so having both processes active is correct.
Once you have successfully serialized (as it appears you have), you should be able to restart either via the Windows service or at the command line without the '-serialnumber' parameter.

Photoshop CS4 and CC/CS6 crashing for no apparent reason (Windows 7)

I’m currently having a serious problem with my Photoshop CS4 where it continuously crashes, for no apparent reason, since July 16, 2013.   I have done everything recommended via Adobe forum to try and fix this problem though it still persists.    It crashes randomly and I am usually unable to use Photoshop for more than 20 minutes. Since this incident, I thought that perhaps updating my Photoshop to the current version i.e. Photoshop CC would fix the problem. I to have the same issue and it all started after switching photoshop cc's layout to 3d mode now everything crashes repeatedly... Thankgod AE still works but yeah ps 3d system is the culprate here b/c It worked perfectly for 4 months for me until i tried there crappy ps 3d system!

InDesign CS4 Server Scripting duplicate()

Hi,
Just wondering anyone would be able to help me with this.
I am having problem with using duplicate() in a InDesign CS4 Server Javascript. It locks the InDesign instance while running the script and we have to unlock it by restarting the Server. Below is the offended script. Do anyone have any idea what is causing this? My head hurts...

InDesign 5.5 Debug Version : where to download?

How can I get a indesign CS5.5 debug version?
I would like to download a InDesign CS5.5 Debug version software (Windows only).
But I can't find/see it on Solution Partner site, even with my Adobe ID login.

Well, since I couldnt get my hands on one of the debug versions for the same version you want, I tried something else.
If you're using visual studio, go to your project settings and make indesign output debugging information. Then just attach the debugger in the process and should work just as it would if you were debugging a normal program.
And that works in the same way for remote debugging as well.

Latest debug version crashing in Firefox a lot

Hello,
The last debug version gave me no problems in Firefox. But the current debug version crashes if I start tracing through code randomly.
I'm not sure if this is Flash debug or Firefox update.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Actually this answer didn't fix my crashes!
I still crash in Firefox when I hit(not sure the name for this), one of those windows that says dismiss all.
I had back to back crashes in something that in FB 4.0, I could just click dismiss all.

ADOBE INDESIGN CS4 SERVER - ??

I've been learning about MAMP.
Having a little difficulty but working through it.
I see that Adobe has come out with "ADOBE INDESIGN CS4
SERVER"...
Anybody know anything about it?
I don't see that it supports PHP.
Didn't see the price on their web page either.

ETA for InDesign 10 (2014) Debug version?

Hello Adobe!
So apparently the new InDesign breaks plugin compatibility and requires a new Debug version of InDesign 10 (2014).
Since we're in the middle of developing an InDesign plugin and we'd like to make it available on the newest version of InDesign, when will the InDesign 10 Debug version be put online to download from the Adobe Partners Portal?

turns out adobe has different prerelease programs... they apparently released the debug version to the InDesign Family Prerelease program, but not on their Technology Partners Downloads site. facepalm. now my company has to apply (again...) for something we're paying 500USD a year and should already have access to. i don't even...

Missing font makes Adobe InDesign CS4 6.0.4 crash

Hi!
I am having a problem with the latest version of Adobe InDesign CS4 (v 6.0.4).
I opened an old document which contained two missing fonts.
I was able to correct the first one by changing it to an existing font.
But when I tried to correct the second one, the application crashed.
I did this:
1. Opened the document with the missing font (the first font was now already corrected).
2. In the warning dialog window saying a font was missing, I clicked "Find Font".
3. The missing font was called "Helvetica (T1) Bold Narrow". I set it to be replaced by "Helvetica Regular".
4. Then I clicked "Change All".
5. Indesign CS4 crashes.
This is the information about the missing font (note that it says "First Used: na" which is strange):

I am using Windows XP (SP3).
I tried to export my INDD file (ID CS4 format) to an INX file.
But that also made InDesign crash (perhaps because of the font thing).
Unfortunately I can't change the missing font of the text because:
* I can't see the text frame that contains the missing font.
* InDesign crashes when using the "Find Font" function.
However, this is not a big problem, I can still work with the file. But I will
always get the annoying warning about the missing font, and I prefer to
have no errors in my INDD files.

[CS3 Mac Server]: Debug version loaded, Release version not

Hello!
I build a plugin for the CS3 Mac Server.
The debug version of the plugin is loaded by the Debug Server successfully.
When I want to load the release version by the Release Server, there comes the error message "Adobe InDesign does not recognise ... as a valid plug-in. Please reinstall the ... plug-in and restart Adobe InDesign."
I am using InDesign Debug Server 5.03 and InDesign Release Server 5.03.
The libraries and frameworks which are bind to the plugin seem all ok.
What can be the fault with the release version?
Any help appreciated.

InDesign CS5.5 Trial Version Crashing on Startup

Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with InDesign CS5.5 Trial Version from the CS5.5 Design Premium suite where shortly after startup the program crashes and gives me the spinning wheel of death(mac).
In both of these scenario, Opening an Existing Document or Creating a new Document, I can create/open the document but then immediately after the document opens into the workspace the application stops responding.
Here is the setup i'm working with:
Apple iMac (iMac11,3)
intel core i5 2.8ghz
4GB RAM DDR3 1333mhz
ATI Radeon HD 5750
1TB 7200rpm HDD
Magic Mouse
Wireless Keyboard
OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.7
The system is a brand new system and has all of the most recent software updates for OSX. The only fonts installed are the system defaults and MS Office 2011 fonts.
I've tried uninstalling/re-installing several times and am met with the same results.
Any help or support would be much appreciated.

I feel like it's a week for crashes and hangs, alas. Well, it's Friday!
The best advise is to Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990.
If you're lucky, that fixes everything.
Terminology: a crash is when the program actually detects a fault and exits. If you just get the beachball, that's a hang.
Hangs are more difficult to debug, but go to Activity Monitor, select InDesign, and choose Sample Process. Upload the output to pastebin.com and post a link here, and we'll tell you how to proceed.

CS4:Mac:Debug Version:Localization Issue

Hi Folks,
I converted a plugin from CS3 to CS4 and testing it under debug version, I'm getting an assert during the launch of the plugin, it says:
"LocaleIndex resource in plugin kMypluginID of type 'PMST' points to bogus resource for locale 256, English"
I checked the "BasicLocalization" sample plugin and couldn't find anything different than I have in my code. That looks the same as mine(although I have more palettes/dialogs..), my plugin runs fine if I press continue in assert dialog and the translated strings in US/and other languages appear fine too.
I noticed the 'PMST' is in in CoreResTypes.h declared as:
#define kStringTableRsrcType 'PMST'
Does anyone know what I'm missing here or what could be wrong?

What's "CS"? AE is included in the Master Collection and Production Premium, but not in the Web and Design suites, so maybe you simply have one of those?

I have been using Indesign CS3 for generating automated reports. These reports are large in numbers. Limitation with Indesign CS3 is it only allows single instance of the application. And hence I am forced to generate these reports in sequence using multiple servers. Indesign CS5 server on the other hand seems to allow multiple instances running at the same time. This would mean I can generate multiple reports at the same time. This will reduce time to generate these reports and also limit the number of servers. This is the reason I want to migrate from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. However, I am not sure if I can get direct upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server or I have to buy new license for Indesign CS5 server. Do you have any idea on this, please suggest. InDesign CS4 6.0.5 Crash

I just installed the 6.0.5 update for InDesign CS4. Now I cannot open the program. I get an error message InDesign quit unexpectedly.

What does the 'report' button give you then? ... you should be able to see the log.
Otherwise, collect crash files on Mac:
1. Crash log from User/Library/Logs/CrashReporter.
