I have certail updates available for my C7. Can anyone let me know that "Do I have to take backup of anything before installing the updates?"

You didnlt say which software you were planning on updating. If you are updating the phone firmware then definitely backup but if you are updating applications then the risk is not as high.
However, as a general rule, you should backup your phone regularly anyway because accidents do happen at any time.

You need to recovery and use it. Sounds like you are running into:

i can't open any videos that i made without getting a message that says: 'This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes.'

I used to be able to update the info for my music (e.g., artist names, ratings) via iTunes, but it doesn't work anymore. In the past I'd change it in the music tab underneath my phone's tab. Using one band as an example, it's all spelled exactly the same on my computer in both music tabs (under my phone and on my computer), but it has various spellings still on my phone. Also, when I rate a song on my phone, it no longer shows when I plug into iTunes. I rate songs 1 star if I want to delete them later but it just doesn't work anymore. How can I fix this? However, I don't understand why you want to keep songs with incorrect info and then correct them on the phone every time you add them to the phone. Most people would want to do it one time.

I don't know why this is so hard to find for people, It's pretty easy.
Open iTunes on a computer
Choose "Store" > view account (apple ID username)
You will then see iTunes account information screen "Account Information"
Click "Edit" which is to the right of the field "Payment Information"
You will see:
Please select a payment method.
VISA MASTERCARD AMEX NONE
choose "None"
Click "Done"

The only way is to create an Apple ID without a credit card. The one you currently created will not work, it has to be a new one, and use this support document to do it. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534 Make sure you follow the directions exactly.

Updating info for multiple songs at the same time?

Is there a way to highlight multiple songs and change info for the songs at the same time without having to do it for each individual song? Example: changing the album or the genre for a batch of songs?

You can shift-click to make a continuous selection or command-shift to make a discontinuous selection.
Then choose Get Info from the file menu.

Cannot update credit card info for cellular data plan.
