I'm very disapointed because since I gave my business emailaddress into this forum (this is the only place which my business address is publiced !) I receive some XXX or other naugthy emails.
I'm sorry to hear that. I can assure you that Oracle does not sell your email address to anybody. I can only assume that maybe they are crawling our forums looking for email addresses in the posts. If that's the case, then you should turn off the display of your email on the options page.

Is there a forum for the Oracle store?
I'm trying to make a purchase (give Oracle some more revenue) and the store keeps crashing when I log in.
It would be nice to provide feedback and have some form of discussion around the store.

Did you try Oracle Partner? I usually get better discount from them than Oracle sales rep.

OBIEE 11G Installation error during configuration steps with message "Distributing Repository" failed.

The application runs queries to fetch data from database in SQL server 2008, and for that I am using a Microsoft SQL Native Client 2008 R2 64 bit ( this is the only version that installs on either PC, even the one on which I developed my LV Application).
I am not using any driver, only toolkits for reports - and for that I un-checked the "Remove unused polymorphic VI instances" when making the executable, otherwise LV throws up an exception that share variable are not being included.
Yes I did reboot every time after I ran the installation.
Still getting the same error.

I am trying to install 12c agent on windows 7 64 bit server by following m.note .
It is failing with Agent Configuration failed, please see below error message.

Looks like , J2EE is having a problem connecting to the DB.Pls. chk. the following
-If you have configured the loop-back adapter , if installing on a local system & updated the /etc/host file with your ip address and host name.
or if the system is part of some n/w group and has ip address assigned ?
-Jdk 1.4 version is installed in your system
-Enough free Disk space available in the system
-How much RAM your system has which windows version you are using ?
-Is the DB is coming up properly ? its error related to this. check the logs.
-If the ports used by sap install / run used by other services running on the system ? & user have admin. privileges on the system .
Pls. update with your findings on above same , for the step next ...

Error when installing 9.0.1.4.0 patch set for the Oracle Database Server.

Hi to all.
Currently, i am trying to install patches for portal server.
The server OS is Sun Solaris 8.
We are using Oracle9iAS.
Now, we are installing 9.0.1.4.0 patch set for the Oracle Database Server.
We managed to install the patch, but have problem with the Post Install Action.
We managed to run
-ALTER SYSTEM ENABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;
-@rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
-ALTER SYSTEM DISABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;
-CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
-update obj$ set status=5 where type#=29 and owner#!=0;
-commit;
But, when we come to the next command, which is to shutdown, it gives us like
this..
SQL> update obj$ set status=5 where type#=29 and owner#!=0;
1402 rows updated.
SQL> commit;
Commit complete.
SQL> shutdown immediate
Database closed.
Database dismounted.
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only
We tried to startup the database..it gives us this error..
SQL> startup
ORA-01081: cannot start already-running ORACLE - shut it down first
So, we tried to shutdown again..
SQL> shutdown immediate
ORA-01089: immediate shutdown in progress - no operations are permitted
I been informed that this is maybe a Database problem related. Any ideas?

You need to have valid CSI for access.

Looking for the oracle equivalent of T-SQL 'SELECT TOP n'

I'm looking for the Oracle equivalent of T-SQL 'SELECT TOP n'
and can't find any. There is SAMPLE(n) function but it supposed
to pick up random values and I'm not sure if it's possible to
make it select top values. Please help 8-)

Oracle does not have a functionality like SQL Server for TOP
selection. The ROWNUM option should be used with great care and
you may get unreliable results.

Changed Ulimits values for the Oracle user and getting error -bash: ulimit: max user processes: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted when logging in.

I'm trying to increate the ulimits for max user processes and open files for the oracle user. I've set the values in limits.conf, /etc/profile and in oracle's environment scripts. Now when I log in as oracle I get the below errors. If I change the ulimits back to the original values errors go away but ulimits aren't changed.

I modified the /etc/security/limits.d/90-nproc.conf and added a line for oracle and also modifed the oracle.sh file. The ulimits are setting correctly when I su - oracle but they are still wrong when sshing in as oracle.

I want implement Single Sign-On support for the Oracle E-Business suite.
Operationg System : linux/Solaris
Oracle E-Business suite : 11.5.10
Oracle Application Server : 10gAS(latest availble)
Type of integration : SSO and OID with 11i
No third party SSO or LDAP
Qusetions
1.If my SSO Server is down can i login to applications(11i) using normal mode(default login http://servername.xxxx.com:8000/).
2. Is it possible to have appilications (11i) in Linux/Solaris and 10gAS in windows.
Please answer...

You couldn't login into server But You can use the following login
http://servername.xxxx.com:8000/AppsLocalLogin.jsp
For this you need to enable the Appslocallogin Profile option

If what you meant is like " Is the Oracle Express Edition software has any expiry date if you download it free " , The answer is no .. coz as you should be using the same for learning purpose ... there is no need for a license and you can use the software as much as you can with its full functionality .
