Inheriting From HttpClusterServlet in WebLogic Server

Hello:
          Is it possible to sub-class the HttpClusterServlet (weblogic.servlet.proxy.HttpClusterServlet), and by that I mean, to be able to sub-class it (of course, I know I can sub-class it all day long) and then actually do useful things with it?
          For example, if I wanted to store session information in a DB at the proxy, or what if I wanted to create my own homebred LB algorithm. I could've sworn I saw this once, but I can't remember where.
          Anyway, any thoughts are appreciated and if anyone has an actual example, that'd be very highly appreciated.

          Yeah, I see what you're saying though. I could just dispatch straight to that HttpClusterServlet and let it do its thing. Of course, as you mentioned, that'd only take care of the 'storing session information' stuff, not the LBing.
          The reason I wanted to use an implementation of the HttpClusterServlet is because I figured instead of starting from scratch, I could just tweak things a bit, by overriding a method.
          I guess we could actually put the LBing algorithm in the custom servlet and have multiple instances of the HttpClusterServlet loaded through the web.xml under different names. That would take care of it in a creative sort of way while still using the features of the HttpClusterServlet (although not taking full advantage of it)......BTW, I am on 8.1, that's probably why I can sub-class it right now.

for a windown server u can use VNC (virtual network connection) which opens a session on u r desktop later u can drag and drop form there vice versa and for a linux box you can use Win SCP which helps to open a session with interface to u r desktop in both cases you can upload and down load files very easiy just as we drag and drop items in a simple pc .. we use the same technique...

How to receive emails of the same inbox from in a Weblogic Server cluster

Hi All,
I have an application running on WebLogic Server with 6 instances. Many requests for the application come from Email. We already set up an email account that will be used by all clients to send email to. But the problem is that the email account inbox can only be opened for reading by a single connection, unlike a typical database. Currently I can only deploy the email reading service on a single server instance, this will effectively create a single point of failure and unbalanced load. What's the best way to read from the same inbox from multiple servers? I am thinking developing something using a database table, sort of leasing, whoever locked the table own the lease and can connect to the email server, but this is pretty hard to implement correctly in all circumstances.
I did an intensive search on the internet, but couldn't find anything.
I appreciate your help very much.

By default, OPA 10.4 will collect the minimum amount of information needed to answer the goal of your interview and then display the answer and the reasons for the answer.You can change what appears on these screens within OPM itself (you don't need to change those settings).
So I would:
- add a Summary Screen to your project (if you haven't already)
- add <your goal attribute> to your summary screen. This will display as a link if the goal is unknown and as a sentence showing the outcome and a Why? link when it is known.
- add a label to the summary screen, providing information about the outcome (eg "Congratulations you are eligible") or simply show the value of the outcome (eg Your total deduction is %deduction_amount%).
- use visibility rules to control which items to display at the start/end of your interview (in your case, maybe hide your goal once it is known and show your label once your goal is known). See OPA help topic "Tutorial: Hiding and displaying summary screen elements".
The Inferred Brand Discount sample supplied in the OPM install provides an example of this (see Help topic Sample Rulebases for information on how to open this).

If you can, the best way would be to to change the column name from SUBTYPE to something that isn't a SQL reserved key word.
You might get around this particular problem by adding @Column(name = "\"SUBTYPE\"") on your attribute. This will force eclipselink to add quotation marks in the generated SLQ, but I think it will cause problems when it comes to some more complicated queries.
In my opinion, the only safe way here is to not use column names that are in conflict with SLQ reserved key words.

Calling an ejb from glassfish to weblogic server

I'd like to be able to call a stateless session bean from a glassfishV3 server that is residing on weblogic 9.2.3. (Ejb spec 2.1 NOT 3.0 please)
I've done this successfully from Tomcat to weblogic, but there are a few hiccups when trying this on glassfish.
Basically what I've attempted is this:
1.) I add these jvm properties to the glassfish startup:
-Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
-Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
-Djavax.rmi.CORBA.PortableRemoteObjectClass=weblogic.iiop.PortableRemoteObjectDelegateImpl
-Djavax.rmi.CORBA.UtilClass=weblogic.iiop.UtilDelegateImpl
2.) Copy weblogic.jar, tools.jar, and webservices.jar from the weblogic/server/lib directory to the glassfish lib/ext directory
...glassfish won't start then because of the weblogic.jar...
3.) Move the weblogic.jar to the WEB-INF/lib directory of my war in glassfish.
Now I try it and get:
(I'm skipping some of the stacktrace at the start)
.....java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access method weblogic.kernel.KernelStatus.initialized()V from class weblogic.kernel.Kernel at weblogic.kernel.Kernel.ensureInitialized......
I'm guessing that this has to do with the "weblogic kernel" not being initialized. So now I'm stuck.
Am I going down the wrong path?
I've also tried these other proposed solutions:
1.) Changing the connection properties of the InitialContext to use these properties:
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "weblogic");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "weblogic");
2.) Using RMI over IIOP instead of T3.
None of these with any luck.
If anyone has done this successfully I'd appreciate some insight.

Application Migration from JBOSS to Weblogic Server

Hi,
I am facing lots of issues while deploying an .ear file on Weblogic server. In the JBOSS server the application is working properly but whenever I am trying to deploy it on Weblogic server its throwing me an error stating :
"ERROR: No j2ee modules detected in EAR archive. Deployment aborted. "
I tried to convert the things to .war file and tried to deploy the application, the application got deployed but its throwing 'exception'.
Please revert me back with some solution.

JNDI not found when trying to communicate from websphere to weblogic server

Hi,
we have a J2EE application in which the client is a standalone program or may reside in any of the application server. But our EJB component is deployed in the weblogic server.
Earlier the client program which contacts the EJB is a standalone program and it uses the weblogic initial context factory and t3 protocol and we will have the weblogic.jar in the classpath.
but there is a new requirement as our new client is in websphere and it has to contact the weblogic server through IIOP protocol and websphere initial context factory. Please let me know what i need to do?
Since iam new to websphere and i am having no clue to establish the communication. I tried to use both IIOP protocol and wesphere initial context factory.but still i get exception as the JNDI name not found.
Guidance is appreciated.

To be in same page, iam running the client program using the IBM jre and using all the websphere client jars set in classpath. This program conatins intial context factory as "com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory" and provider url as "iiop://hostname:portnumber" it contacts the EJB bean method which is hosted on the weblogic server on the "hostname" machine. When it tries to contact i get the errror as
"javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Context: , name: java.iecc.env.ejb.elf.client_new(My JNDI name): First component in name java.iecc.env.ejb.elf.client_new not found. [Root exception is org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound: IDL:omg.org/CosNaming/NamingContext/NotFound:1.0]"

Data Level Security from rpd to Weblogic Server

Req: To implement data level security through weblogic or external authenticator OID
Current implementation: Created a grop in rpd UserG and configured permission settings with respect to subject area and assigned this group to users.
such that, When User1 log in he will see his data and when User2 log in repective data
New implementaion: We have to achive this data level security through weblogic or external authenticator OID
How to acheive this?

You can choose where to get the groups from either database or any provider and map them to Application roles in EM, but you would have to set up your data restrictions thru Application roles in RPD on your Facts and Dims based on your requirement.

Upgrade from OAS to weblogic server - Oracle reports impact

Hi Team,
We have quite lot reports are created in oracle reports 10g and used in production environment. We have plan to upgrade systems and i would like to know the impact in reports which are created using oracle reports 10g.
Currently, we are using
Oracle Database 10g
Oracle reports 10g
OAS 10g
and we are planning to migrate to
Oracle Database 11g
OAS -- > Weblogic application server.
Will my existing reports work in weblogic application server without any change? OR Do i need to change the existing reports.
Could somebody help me on this.

behind a http proxy server. Now one of the components in the application makes
a web service call to a service located external to the system, and it always
throws "java.net.UnknownHostException". I have set the Java system properties
http.proxyHost = my proxy server, http.proxySet = true and http.proxyPort = 80
and it still does not help.
If I try to evaluate the web service component as a stand alone client using WebLogic's
webserviceclient.jar, everything works fine. I can't figure what I have to do
to get this component working from within the WebLogic server. Can anybody provide
me with inputs, comments or suggestions.

What surprises me is that this solution to a common problem is hidden and hard
to find. If I am correct, no part of WLS 8.1 documentation suggests this. Rather
the doc says, set the system properties for the standard JDK 1.4 network properties
and it should work fine. If it is actually supposed to work like this, is it a
bug then?

Deploying adf application to WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.6.0

hi i have develope application in adf using jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 i have deploy the application to weblogic 10.3.6.0
this is what i have done
1. i have created a new Managed server in my weblogic=under Environment->Servers
2.the state of my new server is shutdown
3.deployment method
-in my jdeveloper i click application->Application properties->Deployment->new->Archive Type->EAR FILE->applicationName->OK
TO deploy from jdeveloper to weblogic server
in my jdeveloper i click application APPLICATION->Deploy->applicationName->Deploy to Application Server-applicationserver i choose the new server i created in my weblogic->weblogic Option->deploy to selected instance->i select the name of the server i created in my weblogic->next->finish
after that the deployment configuration screen pop up than i click deploy then screen MDS CONFIGURATION invalid pop up with message MDS CONFIGURATION information appear invalid metadata Repository not found in target server.deploy anyway then i click yes
i got this meaasge in my deployment log

than i click start->Servircing all request->start application assistance->yes->Start requests have been sent to the selected Deployments.
but now i what to test my application am geting this Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage,do i need to start my Managed server how do i do that,i try to click server start but it does not start how can i start my new created Managed server
the listern port of my new created server is 8003
my problem is am not able to test the application i have deploy

Deploying ear application - migrating from OC4j to Weblogic

I am trying to migrate application from OC4J to weblogic server. Apart from usual differences in descriptors, structure of EAR etc. I came across unusual error:
"both the remote home and remote component interface must be specified. Currently, only one of them is specified"
It is about deploying session bean. Usual EJB3 stateless session bean with local and remote interface, deployed without any problem on OC4J and JBoss. Of course, I know home interfaces are something to do with EJB 2.1, but this is EJB3 application and, I guess, Weblogic has full support for it. Does it? :)
Anyway, is there workaround? Or am I missing something? I don't have to tell you what problems we will be facing if I have to restructure whole application with dozens and hundreds of session beans.

OK. I just want to make sure that there are no problems with the deployment descriptors.
To pin point the problem do the following in JDeveloper:
1. Create a simple EJB 3.0 session bean
2. On that session bean create a Sample Java Client.
3. Run the Session Bean
4. Run the Client
5. If both are running fine, compare the deployment descriptors from the sample and your real application.

Newly we installed OID 10g 10.1.4.1 for Ladp (linux5.5 x86_64)

Assuming the configuration is correct in Weblogic ...
1. Have you tried running an ldapsearch from the BI Weblogic server using the Authentication Provider configuration settings criteria i.e. LDAP credentials and LDAP search filter to verify the search runs correctly?
e.g.
ldapsearch -h <LDAP_host> -p <LDAP_port> -D <your_username> -w <your_password> -b <User_base_dn> <all_users_filter> dn
2. Have you verified that you can create a network connection from the BI / Weblogic server?
e.g.
telnet <LDAP_host> <LDAP_port>
3. You should also check the Weblogic logs and OID logs for any errors, if you find any related errors then post them and I will review.
i.e. in
OID - $ORACLE_INSTANCE/diagnostics/logs/OID/oid1
Weblogic - $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/<BI_Server_Name>/logs
Is the LDAP server on the same host as the BI Server?

Oc4j to weblogic server migration

I want to migrate my application from oc4j to weblogic server. i have oc4j related deployment descriptors like Orion-ejb-jar.xml, Orion-application.xml etc.
For getting weblogic related deployment descriptors from oc4j ear(containing oc4j related descriiptors) , i used SmartUpgrade utility along with JDeveloper. Also i also tried SmartUpgrade command line utility.
But i did not get Web Logic related descriptors i.e weblogic-ejb-jar etc.
Please guide me regarding above issue.
Also, tell me , is there any other utility to get weblogic related descriptors.

Speed of weblogic serving static pages

Has anyone seen fairly slow page serving (measured from the end-user's
point of view) for weblogic 4.5? Even when the system isn't hardly
loaded at all, we have users complain about slow response times. The
consensus is the stuff running on WebLogic is slower to appear than the
rest of the web. We're using servlets, and jsp's. Of course this is
hard to quantify and isolate, but we'd like to hear if others have moved
to something like Netscape on the front end because it serves images
faster?

We had similar problems when running ejbs and jsps from the same weblogic
server. Images load very slow. I recommend seperating your jsp server from
your ejb server. Run two instances of weblogic, one for jsps and one for
ejbs. In addition, you can use hardware routers that can filter by requests
such as an alteon or f5 to route requests for images to an image server
(apache), and all jsp requests to weblogic.We use this configuration and
have great load times.

We have found the performance to be better when you serve static pages and
images from another webserver (Netscape iPlanet). The weblogic webserver
appears to have a diffucult time delivering images in a timely fashion. It
also takes away from Weblogic responding to EJB requests.
