Insane object error does not resolve upon re-load

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/AFA28DCC3DE89839862566B200594E8C
does not resolve this issue.  Even when I close the VI & re-open it, I get the following error message:
I tried doing dozens of undo edits of the last 10 or 20 changes.  None of them work.  None of the suggested fixes work at all, either.
Worse yet, I can tell that my code is not what is looks like. It is not running the code that is on the diagram, it is running some previous version of the code.
Solved!

Hi Greg,
Thanks for your reply.  It sounds like you've been on both ends of a serious error/crash resulting in code loss before.
As Murphy's Law would have it, it happened right before quitting time.
I decided to stick it out & make it a late night while I remembered most of my changes.
I quit & restarted LabVIEW, pulled the VI from a backup done the day before, opened up the backup version of the VI, opened up the bad code, and tried pasting changes in.  However, I soon got oodles of "insane object" errors, and gave up on this route.
I quit & restarted LV, opened up the backed up VI, opened the bad new VI on a 2nd monitor (after configuring the display etc.), and manually re-drew (i.e., "re-wrote") all my code just by inspection.
This worked. (To play it safe, I also forced a system backup before going home, and saved lots of revs. along the way during my edits.)
I rarely have experienced "insane object" errors in my 10+ years of LabVIEW programming.  Therefore, I have used little of other languages the past 10 years, and have developed so much re-usable code that I know well, I don't want to move away from it.  It is quite unsettling / scary when it happens, especially on a large program.  It makes me consider going back to text-based programming, where at least there's some inspection of all but the most messed up files (vim/binary mode, for example).
Anyway, I am on my way now, but will be even more diligent about "Save As" to save interim versions during long code writing sessions.
Also, I ran chkdsk per Apps Engr suggestion on a ticket I did later open after doing this post.
Thanks, Matt

  • Insane object error(The string control not getting any values)

    In LabVIEW 8.2 i am using the string control to get the text from the users, and initially there was no problem at the time of development it works perfectly, after building the installer,
    these string controls are not getting any string input, it seems like a disabled one, but actually it was not disabled, when we try to click over that through the mouse,
     that text inputting cursor was not blinking over there,I screen looks as below, some error messages are thrown from the LabVIEW like insane object error, even
    now there was the same problem in the source code itself, what to do rectify this. Only this part generates error all other remaining screen panels are working perfectly.

    This kind of problem can be a pain to locate. This often occurs when the wiring to or from a control or indicator is bery long, convoluted and hidden inside of structures or behind things. So first, you need to identify which VI specifically is generating the error by individually saving VIs and subVIs until you find the one that is generating the error. Now try and remember the last time that VI saved without a problem and what edits you made since then. Places where I have had this occur was when I drag-copied a control and a couple VIs into a small structure. Sometimes the wires would seem to conect up properly, but when I tried to save the VI I got this error. The solution was to disconnect all the wires associated with the VIs I had copied and rewire them.
    Also, can you post the VI that is doing it? Shouldn't need the subVIs for this...

  • Error: Could not resolve s:SolidColor to a component implementation

    So I have a library project and in that project I have a CustomDataGridBackgroundSkin file which is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

    I am simply trying to get an ant task to compile this library to SWC, but I am getting a " Error: Could not resolve <s:SolidColor> to a component implementation" error during compile.  The only way to fix it is to add these lines of code (bold).

    I can also get this error to go away if I put this line in my build.xml file: "<include-sources dir="${src.dir}" includes="*"/>"
    But then I get this error => "[compc] Error: Unsupported file type: C:\dev_projects\features\flex4version\web\OneVoice\src\components.xml"

  • Error: Could not resolve s:states to a component implementation.

    So I am trying to setup states on a Flex application I'm building, but it doesn't seem to want to compile. I get this error:
    $ ./build.sh
    Loading configuration file /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4/sdks/4.1.0/frameworks/flex-config.xml
    uploader.mxml(24): Error: Could not resolve <s:states> to a component implementation.

    Here is my build command nothing special ...
    $ cat ./build.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    mxmlc -output bin/uploader.swf src/uploader.mxml
    I have a class that extends the Spark application like so ...
    package com.uploader.controllers
        import spark.components.Application;
         dynamic public class FlashUploader extends Application
    Then in my main application mxml file I use it like so ...
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <c:FlashUploader xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
        xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
        xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
        xmlns:v="com.uploader.view"
        xmlns:c="com.uploader.controllers.*"
        minWidth="709" minHeight="400"
        skinClass="com.uploader.skins.UploaderApplicationSkin">
        <fx:Style source="styles.css" />
        <!-- states -->
        <s:states>
            <s:State name="default" />
            <s:State name="startup" />
            <s:State name="uploading" />
            <s:State name="normal" />
        </s:states>
    </c:FlashUploader>
    Now when I try to compile I get the states error. I've found several examples and even made a dummy app just using the spark application and it compiles fine. Not sure if I'm doing anything weird here but the few other flex devs I know don't seem to see anything wrong with what I'm doing that could cause this.

    When you define an object using a namespace you have to use the same namespace for its properties, so you will want to use "<c:states>" instead of "<s:states>" in this case.

    Hi,
    We are experiencing the following error when trying to retrieve data from the OLAP layer in our front-end:
    ORA-34492: Analytic workspace object __XML_GET_FULLTOAW_NAME does not exist.
    to be more specific, the following happens:
    We are using the Oracle OLAP Java api's to query the analytical workspace. We create a Source object that contains the joins we want. This source is prepared and committed via the TransactionProvider class. Via the DataProvider we then create an SQLCursorManager and generate the SQL and execute it via JDBC.
    We were able to execute it without problems on an XP development platform. When switching to another platform that we use, it gives the following error messages:

    Hi Keith,
    Yesterday I actually fully rebuilt/redeployed the AW. (I only patched our 10.2.0.3 installation with the OLAP A patch very recently.) Even the AW's tablespace was recreated, just to make sure everything was gone. Redeployment of the OLAP objects from OWB control center went without any problems.
    Let me answer your questions one by one below.
    1) How did you build the AW?
    We use OWB. The only thing I used AWM for is to actually create the AW. Once created, I use OWB to design and deploy. The front-end developers use AWM sometimes for viewing data in the OLAP objects. (I use OWB or AWM for that.)
    2) Can you connect to the AW via AWM, if so can you use the Data Viewer option to view:
    a) each dimension and check you can drill up and down.
    b) each cube
    I have been playing around a bit with the dim's and cubes in the AWM by right-clicking and selecting view data ... (that's the data viewer option?) and encountered no problems.
    3) You are using the OLAP API directly, what sort of application are you building - Java Client, JSP, Applet and are you using BI Beans?
    We are building a JSP type application, but so far only servlet code is being executed as the failure occurs on issuing the query. We are not using BI BEans.
    Thanks for your feedback!
    grts,
    Ed

  • Object EXTERNAL_TABLE does not exist???

    I've written the following function that references an external table within the same schema. When I try to execute the function, it returns an error that "object EXTERNAL_TABLE does not exist"
    I've also tried creating a view that points to the external table and then pointing this function at the view but I still get the same error.
    Any ideas on how to make this work? Thanks in advance!
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    FUNCTION ugaps.get_can
    p_string_value IN VARCHAR2
    RETURN VARCHAR2
    IS
    can_value VARCHAR2(9);
    BEGIN
    SELECT CC_ENT_CAN

    FROM CAN_SSN_CONVERTED
    WHERE CC_ENT_PRIMARY_ID=p_string_value;
    RETURN can_value;

    WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
    RETURN '810XXXXXX';
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    RETURN 'ERROR-->' || SQLERRM;
    END;
    /

    I removed the "WHEN OTHERS" clause per your suggestion. Now I'm getting this:
    ORA-06564: object EXTERNAL_TABLE does not exist
    ORA-06512: at "UGAPS.GET_CAN", line 9
    06564. 00000 - "object %s does not exist"
    *Cause:    The named object could not be found.  Either it does not exist
    or you do not have permission to access it.
    *Action:   Create the object or get permission to access it.
    The database is Oracle 11.1.0.7 for Windows 2008
    The external table, function, and execution of that function are all within the same schema, which has DBA privileges, so I should have permissions. If I run the "SELECT" statement alone, it works properly.

    for this u need to maintain the text object and its related text id using the TC: SM31 in rel. view of  ur tcode( like MM01, Va01 etc).
    first get the view names(1 for text object and 2 for text id) from fun. people.
    then go to sm31 with 1 view, create BUT000 .
    then go to sm31 with 2 view, maintain text id for the text object:BUT000.

  • "The hostname does not resolve to any configured address..."

    I think this is a stupid question   But I just can't remember what I'm missing.  It's been a while since I set one of these up.
    I have just installed Lion and Server on a Mac Mini 2.66GHz C2D
    I'm not trying to change the Open Directory settins from Standalone directory to an Open Directory Master.
    When I do it saks me to create a directory adminstrator account.  No problem.  But when I hit continue on that screen I get a message saying:
    "The hostname does not resolve to any configured address.  Please ensure your hostname and network configuration is correct."
    Now, I think this is because I haven't set up any DNS zones yet.  But I'm not sure about that...
    So can anyone(s) help me with these two things:
    1. Is the Open Directory master I'm trying to set up dependent on setting up DNS first?
    2. If so, can someone tell me what I'm supposed to do in the DNS, because for the life of me I can't remember anything about it.
    I'll be very grateful for any help...
    Thanks!
    David.

    Hi again.  Thanks for the help.  So that clears up that mystery.  However...
    Ok, so as already noted, I've completely forgotten how I set this up last time, but I remember that I still have an archive of my old Snow Leopard server before I upgraded it to Lion.
    So I've fired that up in Server Admin to see how I set up the DNS in that, and see if that can remind me how to set up the same on my new Lion server.
    I believe I've set it all up correctly, but alas, I'm still getting the same error message when I try to create the open directory master.  So I must be doing something wrong still.  I just wish I knew what that was.
    I've attached screen shots of my settings.  If you or anyone else can tell me what I'm doing wrong, then again, I'd be grateful!
    The routing is done by my Airport Extreme, with the .200 IP address being assigned by DHCP client ID.  The IP address of this machine is in fact 10.0.1.200.  These settings are exactly the same (with one exception) as my (working) Snow Leopard server and just to be clear I'm not trying to run both servers at once!
    The one exception is this:  The first line in the screen shot says "1.0.10.in-..." (from the non-working Lion server), whereas on my Snow Leopard server, the same line says "200.1.0.10.in-..."  Everything else is the same.  I can't seem to see any way of "correcting" that.  Is that the cause of the problem? And if so, how do I fix it?  If not, what *is* the problem?
    Thanks!
    David.
