Insert Blank Disc???

I have been having this problem for about 4 months now, since I installed the new version. Nobody has been able to answer this for me & was re-posting this to see if anybody else is having this problem & if it was fixed. I insert a disc to burn & it states 'you have inserted a blank disc', then when I go to burn it states 'please insert blank disc'. Does anybody have an answer for this? I am in desperate need of an answer because I am going crazy! Here is my diagnostic report:

i made a burn folder that has files lower then the
    700MB max, and then I insert a blank CD-R and then I
click the burn button in the folder and it says that
I need to insert a blank disc, when one is already in
there. I've tried my whole spindle of CDs, a
different kind of brand of CD, and a CD-RW. I had
already burned 2 before, but I don't understand why
it isn't working anymore. Can anyone help?
Try clicking the burn button first then insert the CD when prompted. OSX should then verify the CD and if it's good start writing your data. I've had the same problem with itunes and found it ofter fails if I put the CD in first so now I always wait till prompted to insert the CD. When I wait till prompted it always works.

my macbook is flashing saying "insert blank disc..." when disc is in computer to burn a cd. Can you help?

Bummer. Could be a problem with the MBP drive. Are you using Re-writable discs maybe?
Check the discs work in your HP machine. They may have burnt but not successfully. Your HP machine may not be able to open them either.
Have you considered using a USB flash device to transfer the photos, or just copy them over your home network? CD is a slow an cumbersome method.

  • CANT BURN DISC. WHEN INSERTED BLANK DISC i SAID DONT WARN ME AGAIN

When you insert a blank disc it comes up and says you have inserted a blank disc and I said do not warn me again. Since then I am unable to burn an audio CD. It says disc burner or sofware not found. HELP

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • "Please Insert Blank Disc" Issue - I have had an email from Apple Support

    Hello Everyone
I posted a message a little while ago about the back-up problem I am having and it looks like there are loads of other i-Pod users having the same issue. This is when i-Tunes keeps on rejecting the blank discs and asking you to insert another blank disc, ultimately meaning that you cannot back-up.
I have emailed Apple support and from the reply I got it looks like Apple know about this issue and are looking for a solution to the problem. I can only assume that this will be fixed in a future update. That said, I hope it is not to long in coming, as I have alot of purchased music not backed up.
If anyone has discovered a way to get around this problem on i-Tunes, please let us know! I know I could back up manually, but that is a real pain, as it takes ages to work out the amount of music that will fit on one CD-R, when i-Tunes normally does this for you!
    Over and out!
    Wayne

I was able to select a playlist, such as Purchased, and write it to DVD-R. It puts songs out as m4p files. I have done it (tried it) only once so far. It complained that it might take an hour to finalize the DVD but it only took a few minutes for me (only about 80 songs - sort of waste of a DVD). I think I selected "Burn playlist to disc".
I too had trouble with the backups after moving to 7.3. Worked OK in 7.2.

  • Insert Blank Disc Error - Can Only Burn to DVD

When attempting to burn a cs through iTunes, I continuosly get an error prompting me to insert a blank disc. The cdrs I'm using are fine and I never had a problem with them before. If I insert a blank dvd, the audio files will copy to the dvd w/o a problem. I also ran the diagnostics and received a 128-error code. Anyone have any ideas?

I can think of one thing that may be helpful. There have been numerous burning problems in the last month since version 7.3 and 7.3.1 were released. I have been told that a new version of Itunes is available for download as of today.
This might have been one of the errors that has been corrrected. Try that first. Download it from:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If that doesn't help, I hope someone else logs on who has more experience with this issue.

  • "Please Insert Blank Disc"

I am receiving this message when trying to create an audio CD. I have a inspiron 1501 using the Samsung TS-L1632H ATA Device burner. Has anyone figured this out yet or is it just SOL until Dell or Apple fix this. Very frustrating.

  • Itunes no longer recognizes any blank discs I insert for burning.

While recently trying to burn a cd from my iTunes library, the program didn't recognize any blank discs I inserted. It kept saying 'please insert blank disc'. Every other program on my pc will recognize these blank discs which are brand new and of top quality. What gives ?

  • Blank discs, burn folders, behave differently base on account

PROBLEM: Inserted blank discs and burn folders result in different behaviors depending on the account.
In this write-up, I'm using some shortened phrases. When I refer to Profiler, I'm refering to System Profiler > Hardware > Disc Burning, which shows you if a disc is inserted. If that disc is blank, it shows information about the media itself. If I say "BurnButton" works or not, I'm referring to the Burn button in the upper right of a burn folder.
    User-R: Root user.
User-A1, -A2: Administrative users. There are two, the one I use all day long is A1.
    User-N: Non-administrative user
    RESULTS OF INSERTING BLANK DISC:
    User-R: Everything works.
    User-N: Everything works.
User-A1: Does not mount to Desktop. Finder says "The operation could not be completed because you do not have enough access privleges." Disk Utility sees disc. Profiler sees disc. BurnButton does not work. Dragging a burn folder to trash does not initiate a burn.
User-A2: Does not mount to Desktop. No Finder message. DiskUtil and Profiler see disc. BurnButton works.
OTHER INFO: Previously burned discs work fine in all accounts. Toast works fine. Tried (of course) permissions (ran it from every account), most all clean-up processes offered by Onyx, and reset PRAM.
    Any ideas???

  • I used to be able to burn photos onto a CD-R disc. Now I insert a new, blank disc and am told there is insufficient spac available for my selected year of photos. Even when reducing the date to ONE photo, I still get the same message. Confused.

I used to be able to burn a selection of photos from my iPhoto library onto a CD-R disc. Today I inserted a new blank disc and was shown a message that there was insufficient space for my chosen year of photos. Even when I reduced the date to include only ONE photo!- the message was the same. I am at a loss as to why, and what to do. My iMac is about 7 years old and upgraded to Snow leopard. Any bright ideas?

When burning a CD-R, the OS first creates a 'shadow' disk image that replicates what the CD will look like, then it copies that data to the CD-R itself. Therefore you need enough free space on your internal drive to create this temporary image. If your internal hard drive is full you won't be able to create the shadow, and that could be what you're seeing.
If the OP's disk is too full to permit the creation of a 700MB disk image, it's a wonder that the computer is functioning.

  • Videos I burnt to disc on my pc won't play on my macbook, when I insert the disc into the macbook it says it's blank but plays fine on the pc

Videos I burnt to disc on my pc won't play on my macbook, when I insert the disc into the macbook it says it's blank but plays fine on the pc, does anyone know how to fix this?  The photo's I burnt on the exact same type of disc work fine in both pc and macbook but the videos will only play on the pc.

If you are trying to play these on quicktime then what video format are those videos?
Wmp's?  You need to install Flip4Mac.
    Most other formats?  Install Perian.
Or just use vlc instead.  It's a much better, more powerful, and more general video player.
