Inserting Audio clips.

When I insert Audio clips into the timeline and then preview the timeline all i hear is a BEEP BEEP BEEP...etc Bare with me I'm a newbie to MAC and FCE.

Hi,
I am having the same problem you were and I am also new to MAC and FCE. Do you mind guiding me through what I need to do to "render all"? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!!!

  • Trouble inserting audio clip into sequence (CS5)

I'm running Premiere Pro CS5 on Win7 x64.  I have an MP3 audio clip that I've selected a sub-clip from, as you can see here:
When I click on the insert button, everything to the right of the insertion point on the timeline is pushed to the right, as if the clip were inserted, but the clip doesn't show up anywhere (I've scrolled up and down through both the audio and video tracks), as you can see here:
I've done this many times beofre without any problem.  What am I doing wrong now?
    Thanks for your help.

    Glad I could help.

  • Inserting audio clips so that the following clips "shift" over

In ProTools, it's possible to insert an audio clip at a particular location in a track and the clips behind the inserted one will automatically shift over so that the clip can "fit". Is this possible in Audition? Or do I need to move all my clips to the right first to make room for the clip that I want to insert?
Also, when I use Ripple delete to close the gaps between edited clips, the clips move around and I have to move them again so that they're not out of order. What am I doing wrong here?
    Thank you!

I'm not aware of being able to 'ripple insert', and I couldn't find a way of doing it in CS6 - not that I'd use it, because it's relatively easy to move everything anyway if you're organised, and nothing ends up quite where you want it if you work like this anyway...
Also, when I use Ripple delete to close the gaps between edited clips, the clips move around and I have to move them again so that they're not out of order. What am I doing wrong here?
That's the thing about organising things; your friend here is clip grouping. Swipe the clips you want to group, and if you use the right mouse button, you'll get grouping options (also available as keyboard shortcuts). One useful feature of this is that Ctrl-Shift G toggles, so you can selectively ungroup and regroup quickly.
What usually happens at this point is that somebody comes along and tells you how to do whatever it is that I say you can't do, but if there is a way - well, it's not blatently obvious.

  • Inserting video clip and have both audios at once

Hi everyone, hopefully somone can help answer my question.  My friend has a video blog and the person who used to do all of his technical stuff is no longer with him, so he's trying to figure it all out, and I figured I'd try to help him.
In iMovie, does anyone know how to insert a video clip into the main video clip and have the inserted video being shown on the screen but the audio of both videos playing at the same time, with no break in continuity of the main video's audio?  Then, how to transition from the inserted video with both audios playing at the same time back to just the main video, again with no breaks in audio continuity?  I know it's possible on FinalCut Pro, because that is what his tech person used, but for some reason that program freezes my friend's computer, so he's stuck with iMovie for now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Thanks for your reply devbear11.  You ALMOST got what I was asking for.  I'm sorry if my wording is confusing, lol.  Everything you said is great, EXCEPT that  I want to KEEP the audio on the inserted video in ADDITION to the audio on the original clip.  So to break it down....
    - Main video clip is playing.
    - Segue into the inserted video clip.  Have the screen be showing the inserted video clip and have it be playing it's own audio, WITHOUT interrupting the audio of the original/main video.
    - Inserted video clip plays on the screen and you hear both the audio of the inserted video clip in addition to whatever my friend is saying on the main audio....To give you an example, my friend blogs about figure skating.  So he will be discussing a competition and the screen is showing him at his desk talking about the different skaters.  While he is discussing a certain skater, he may input a clip of their performance and you will see and hear them skating to their music, but still be able to hear him discussing it uninterrupted in the background.
    - Once the inserted clip ends, the video switches back to my friend at his desk, with his commentary uninterrupted.
    Am I making sense? lol

  • Inserting a audio clip

i want to insert a audio clip but i cant seem to get it to work

    Hi There:
    Please share more details:
    - What is the audio file type?
    - How you are doing it at present?
Generally embedding audio incorporates the sound directly into the page, but the sound only plays if visitors to your site have the appropriate plug‑in for the chosen sound file. Embed files if you want to use the sound as background music, or if you want to control the volume, the way the player looks on the page, or the beginning and ending points of the sound file.
When incorporating sound files in your web pages, carefully consider their appropriate use in your web site, and how visitors to your site use these media resources. Always provide a control to either enable or disable the playing of the sound, in the event that visitors don’t want to listen to the audio content.
#In Design view, place the insertion point where you want to embed the file and do one of the following:
    - In the Common category of the Insert bar, click the Media button and select the Plugin icon from the pop-up menu.
    - Select Insert > Media > Plugin.
#In the Property inspector, click the folder icon next to the Link text box to browse for the audio file, or type the file’s path and name in the Link text box.
#Enter the width and height by entering the values in the appropriate text boxes or by resizing the plug‑in placeholder in the Document window.
These values determine the size at which the audio controls are displayed in the browser.
    Thanks,
    Vinay

  • Aim trying to put 2 audio clips together and you can hear the unnatural break. Is there a transition I can insert to cover it. Kind if like we do with video?

aim trying to put 2 audio clips together and you can hear the unnatural break. Is there a transition I can insert to cover it up. Kind of like we do with video clips? Like an overlay? Thank you

You could put the two clips on two different tracks with a slide overlap and fade the first clip out out and the second clip in.
Or trim both clips in a way, that the first clip ens with silence and the second clip starts with silence.

  • GB arbitrarily inserting incorrect audio clip

was editing a podcast and inserted some audio clips...later, while checking the mixdown, i noticed that the wrong clips had been inserted...seemed GB arbitrarily selected another audio clip from another part of the podcast...very strange...
i was able to recover the correct clip from a previously saved copy...
    any idea how this happened?
i also noticed that, while shortening one clip, i sometimes inadvertantly shorten EVERY clip in the session, screwing up ALL the editing i'd done...(this has happened TWICE to me afte a couple hours' work, just when i think i'm finished, and i wind up having the scrap the whole project and start over because all the editing has been screwed up....SAVE VERSIONS FREQUENTLY!!!)
    any idea how THIS happens?

I've only seen the 'Wrong Clip" problem once. I spet three days trying to figure it out (so it would never happen again), I never did. No matter what I did (and I did a lot) I could not rid the file of these errors.
For the shortening problem, you accidently had more than one clip selected, it's easy to do.

  • How can I make all 40 audio clips the same volume?

    Hello, all!
I'm finishing up a General Orientation video for new employees in Yellowstone National Park and am-this-close to being finished!
I'm creating the video in Premier Elements 9 with some video footage and some still photos blended together.  (Yes, I tried to "Ken Burns" it...  he would laugh out loud if he saw my version!)
I've narrated most of it in individual WAV. clips that I've inserted into the audio timeline under each video segment.
I have about 40 audio clips, and even though I used a decent microphone, I still find that each clip has a slightly different volume that is really noticeable when the video DVD plays on TV.  I'm realizing that I should have made an effort to keep a standard distance from the mic when recording.   Hindsight is 20-20.
I have been trying to change the volume on each clip to make them all the same volume, and it's making me a little crazy.
Is there any way for me to capture all the audio at one time and make an adjustment that would make all of them the same volume?    I tried CTL-A and then did "normalize" on it, but it seemed to make very little/or no difference when viewing.
Any advice would be really appreciated!
Signed, the lone creative video girl in Yellowstone.

You are most welcome, and it has been a great day. Thanks!
Good luck, and pay close attention to the differences between Clip Keyframes and Track Keyframes. They accomplish the same result, but have differences.
    Good luck,

I am in the process of preparing to test a sample from your brand and model camera in my Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows 7 64 bit. I will have the results probably tomorrow morning.
For now I just want to put you through the drill that I do for anyone who says he/she is using Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1.
    1. Are you working from the 8.0/8.0.1 Update of the program?
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4653
    2. Do you have the automatic Background Rendering and AutoAnalyzer features turned OFF.
For Background Rendering option. See Edit Menu/Preferences/General.
For AutoAnalyzer option. Click on Organizer in the row below the blue active Organize header in order to open the Elements Organizer. In the Elements Organizer workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalyzer Options and disable all the AutoAnalzyer options. To return to the Premiere Elements workspace from the Elements Organizer workspace, in the Elements Organizer workspace, go to File Menu/Exit.
Is your computer optimized in spite of the fact that  you have a high end laptop? I presumed so but always go to verify, no pile ups of preview files, conformed video and audio files et al.
Looking at the properties of your source media, I see:
    video compression = MPEG1
    audio compression = MPEG-Layer1 (.mp2)
    Frame Size = 640 x 480 (4:3)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio = 1.0
Frame Rate = 30 progressive frames per second
With properties like those you are sure to get a red line over that content since there is no project preset with that description.
But, your choice of the default NTSC DV Standard would have been mine also.
I am heading to try to get a quick look at the behavior of the sample video here in my Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1.
    To be continued.

  • 1,000 menu items - each selection plays unique audio clip with same video

    Hi all,
We're familiar with playing different audio tracks based on a menu selection - but we have a large number of clips for this project... so, here's our question:
A viewer of our 30 minute dvd throws it in the player and selects the city they live. We want to have about 1,000 city names they can choose from.
Based on their selection, (eg: Los Angeles) the DVD will play and then at 7 different points during playback, we need the name "Los Angeles" inserted/played along the main audio track.  If someone selects Portland, then Portland would be spoken in that spot instead, etc.
In terms of audio files, we have the one main audio that is the same for all menu selections, except for the spots where the city goes, it is just blank.
We have recorded 1,000 unique audio clips of just the city name we want to include . (1 to 2 seconds long)
What's the best way to insert the audio where we need it during playback - or is it even possible? (non-blu ray).  There is audio just before and after the point where the city name has to go, so the timing during playback is critical. (no pause or hiccup when inserting.)
We thought about outputting 1,000 unique audio tracks (each 30 minutes long) that include the full audio along with the city, but we seem limited in the number of audio tracks on the Encore timeline (at least based on our limited authoring experience - is there a way to get more clips in encore beyond the # of audio tracks it allows?)
In reading other posts, it seems we can set markers along the main audio track, dump all our city clips on a handful of audio tracks and have them pull in where needed but it seems it will cause the dvd to pause when doing this, and make for an interrupted viewing experience. Is that true?
    Any ideas/thoughts are greatly appreciated...

Let's see if someone can tell us how this might be done, but I say the answer is "no."
First, DVDs are made for playing on TVs as programs, not as interactive media. You pick one audio track, and that is all you get. To do what you want (the main audio track with one of a thousand names spoken also), you need a thousand audio tracks.
Even if it were possible, I think the number of menu choices (max 36 buttons on a single 4:3 menu) and the max 1 gig of menu on a disk, and if not those, the max 99 vts per disk (and for Encore which uses 1 vts per timeline, a  huge task to figure out how to make all those clips into chapters on timelines) etc.

  • Last ~10% of audio clips do not play

My imported music tracks will not play the last approximately 10% of the clip.  At first I thought it was a result of trying to use 6-10 minute music clips, as 1-3 minute tracks never seem to fail,  but found that even trimming off all but the last minute of a long clip (making a 10 minute clip into a 2 minute clip) and trying to use that resulted in it's last 10% not playing!
The waveform for each audio clip shows up in its Source Tab and is just fine.  But scrubbing or playing the clip works only up to about the 90% point and then sound goes silent.  This is true for the Source player or when the audio is inserted into the Timeline.
I have converted the original .m4a audio files to both mp3 and wma but always with the same result.  All converted clips play fine in both QuickTime and WM Player players, so it is something within CS4 Premier Pro itself that is failing.
I have tried everything I can think of without results, and have run out of ideas.
    Any suggestions, anyone?

I agree re: MP3.  I seldom use it, but I fell into the trap of thinking that since I was having problems with the captured CD and WMA, that certainly Premier would handle MP3, the most ubiquitous format around, without problems.
So I was really buffaloed when even the MP3 formats failed!
I usually don't do anything in WAV because the files are so large, but that said I have a 1.5 Tb drive so don't know what in the heck I am worried about!
    Thanks again.

  • FCP 6 - Exporting Quicktime MOV distorts audio (clipping), plays fine in FC

I've just finished a project and have exported my finished video to a Quicktime file, using the same settings as my original capture (HDV 1080i50). However, when I do so, the audio in the exported file is clipped quite horribly, and makes it hard to make sense of what is going on because of it.
I have several sound files that have been amplified +9dB in the project, and was originally worried about clipping, but they play back absolutely fine in Final Cut, with no distortion at all.
Any ideas on how to remove this clipping on export? If I have to reduce the sound level on my clips, is there a way to do it via batch? I've got heaps of keyframes controlling volume, it would be an absolute pain to do manually.

Keep your audio peaks between -12 and -6 inside FCP. Never, ever clip the audio. Use of some compression and/or limiting - if done correctly - will help you control your levels: Putting a lid on loud stuff and bringing up the level of low stuff. And does a better job of level control than manually riding-gain with a fader or inserting audio level keyframes.
    Compressors will help you.
Search the web for tutorials on how to use 'em and you'll never look back.

  • When I move video clip, my audio clips (unlinked) split ??

I have separate video and audio clips on the timeline (they are not linked).  When I try to move a video clip (or multiple clips at one time), before I let go of the mouse, the audio clip(s) below the video split, so that they are before and after the moved video clip.  They are not linked together.  How do I move a video clip without affecting anything else?
    Thanks.

This might be helpful from some of my old notes. The ripple behavior can be overcome by the use of the CTRL
button. However it depends on whether you press CTRL before or after you start moving the clip. When moving clips
around in the timeline there are 4 basic types of movement Lift, Extract, Insert and Overlay:
The first two, Lift and Extract have to do with how the clip is moved OUT of it's current position. To see what I
mean, hover your mouse over a clip in the timeline, then press and release the CTRL key while watching the status
text string in the lower left of the application window, you'll see that holding CTRL before clicking and dragging
triggers the extract behavior (which tells the timeline that there is a gap being created that should be closed)
but clicking and dragging with no CTRL modifier allows the Lift behavior (which tells the TL to ignore the gap)
The second two, Insert and Overlay have to do with how the clip is placed IN to it's new position, that is,
whether it is Overlaid over exisitng footage without any ripple movement or Inserted within the existing footage,
causing any following media (including that on other tracks) to be rippled forward.
Since there is no way to lock down tracks in PE, you must always be mindful of what this default rippling behavior
is doing to overlapping media on other tracks.

  • Best practice when it comes to inserting audio for powerpoint slides

I'm creating a mixture of PowerPoint slides with animation and software simulation projects from captivate.
Currently I have developed the audio files associated with the animation objects for the PowerPoint slide. My question
Should I insert the audio files into PowerPoint and edit the timing of the animation based on the duration of the audio. I have been playing around with the editing and too be honest, I'm getting a tad frustrated trying to conduct the timing.
    or
Should I insert the audio via Captivate after importing the PowerPoint slides?
    Any help is appreciated.

In the Library all audio clips will be stored. Either from the Library or using the Audio Management panel, you can edit the audio clips directly in Audition (part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, one of the best audio applications available) and when saving they are automatically edited in Captivate as well. Same work flow exists with Photoshop: you can edit a source Photoshop file, where Captivate will keep the wanted layers as separate images in the Library, and you can edit them from Captivate right away in Photoshop. The integration of Captivate with other Adobe applications is unique in the eLearning tools.

  • Why inserting audio creates a gap in my video ?

    Hi,
I try to insert a short audio mp3 bakcground music in my work.
I try to insert it several times because it is short and I need it repeat.
So I insert it once at begining of my work. When I insert it a second time, it will create a gap between the end of previous audio piece, and its own end.
Why on earth does it does this ? Why audio can break video ? This turns me mad, please tell me how can I insert audio files without destroying my video ?
    Thanks,

Are you trying to put it onto the Audio 1 track? If so after the insert (that creates the gap) you will need to break the video/audio link by right-clicking the audio track and selecting 'Unlink Audio and Video'. With the link broken you can then move just the video clips to fill the gap.
If you are not already using the 'Soundtrack' track for something else that would be the better place to add your mp3 clip.
