Inside this community and page bar

We are getting some complaints that after the portal page is drawn, the page jumps. What is actually happening is the portlets are drawn on the page prior to the Inside this community area being displayed. When that area is displayed it takes up more room than was initially allocated for the div I guess. That causes the rest of the page to be pushed down. Is there a way to set the size of this div to be as wide as the navigation will be when it finally displays? Is this done with a div? Which view in the api controls this functionality? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks, Berney

ah yes! that makes sense!
The better option then would be to go the CSS route and just not show the image.
If you look at your source for the page you should see a span tag (navTabText) just before the community icon.
You can piggyback on that class in this fashion:
#navTabText img{display:none;}
if you add that to whatever your css file is that should work.
I'm not a css person so I might have the syntax off a bit.
albeit you should test this out because no telling what else might be impacted by such an addition!

Supressing the "Inside this Community" + Subcommunity" + "Related Community" tabs

I read the discussion thread on "How to hide the page links of a community on the 5.0.2 portal" and I looked at the UI Source code for "NavigationCommSectionDropDownView".
And I was wondering about which portion of that code should be disabled/altered to completely suppress the "Inside this Community" navigation tab along with the "subcommunity" and "related community" tabs below it.
We need to create a community that doesn't have any navigation scheme. We will create our own and need to suppress the 'out of the box' navigation scheme.

The community section menu will not show up at all when Removed from a NavType. If you want it to show up for only certain communities you would not change the NavType class but instead add logic into the view's (NavigationCommSectionDropDownView or NavigationCommSectionComboBoxView located in the view folder under the NavType file) Display method to only display the menu for specific communities by checking community IDs. Instead of hardcoding the IDs in the code you could put them in NavigationSettings.xml and get them for there with the NavigationCommonHelpers.GetNavSettingsValueX methods.
Refer to the UI Customization Guide has more information.

Where do I begin to create my website using this G5 and Pages '08? I don't even know where to start...
I made a temporoary website on wordpress with my pc -- now I want to see what is possible with this G5 and Pages '08 by bro gave me.

The current version is iLife '11. iWeb is up to v4 and I think has been out since 2007.
There is no iLife folder, the applications are loose within the Applications folder.
You can purchase a boxed version of iLife from Apple or an Apple reseller.
The Mac App store does not offer iWeb and you would need OSX 10.6.6 to use the App Store.
If you began your website using WordPress, why not continue to use it, it does not matter what system you are on, Windows, Mac or Linux, WordPress is web based.

This morning the computer completely froze. In the previous weeks the mouse had been not working strongly. I followed advice seen in this community and pressed Command Tab together. It worked. Does anyone know what the actual problem was? Thank you.

This, combined with the other issues you've reported, sounds like problems with the hard drive. I suggest you begin troubleshooting using the Procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.

I cannot receive coming calls. Calls do not go into voice mail and the greeting is not my voice or the default greeting. This appears to be a common problem, regardless of carrier. If Apple cared, they would monitor the forums and provide answers when possible. Several people I know are replacing their iPhones with other devices. My next phone WILL NOT be an iPhone. iPhones are not worth the price.

Go back and read the term of use you signed up for. There is no Apple here in this user to user forum.
The ability to make or receive calls fall on the phone carrier not Apple or iphone.
Suggest you contact your phone carrier to resolve the issue.
Also stating that your next phone won't be an iphone, doesn't mean anything here, we users don't care what phone you get next.

Hi All! Found this community and have a question about Hyperlinking docs

I have eDocs DM 5.3.1 and some of my users are getting broken hyperlinks in pleading indices being created in the Records department.
We noticed that if we purge the DM cache, shut down the DM process and then restart windows explorer, it fixes the hyperlink.
Anyone have a clue or two I could investigate to find a fix?

I have created video with music and pictures. I have exported it. But all that shows is the music no pictures. I have done this before and it worked ok. Am I missing something?

I have created a video with pictures and music. When i export it, it goes into a MP4 video. which I have done before and it worked ok. Now the only thing on the MP4 video is music but not my pictures.
I am very new to this and have taught myself everything so far. I have no technical understanding. So please make any answers as basic as you can.

After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session. 
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time. 
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page. 
Another possibility is to use:

On main Firefox page, I have a box called Digital Future Community and I wish to get rid of it. How can I do this?

This morning when I went to the Firefox main page, I noticed at the bottom of the page a box which said it had 6 questions to answer and it was by some company called Digital Future Community. I have never had this on the main page before and it keeps on coming back. It may have come in on some website and attached itself to the main page and I wish to remove it.
Can someone please advise me how I can get rid of this pesky box.

How do I get back my AT&T Yahoo Home Page and Tool Bar?

I am a senior citizen with little computer knowledge. I cannot cope with changes to my home page because I do not have the knowledge/skills to undo the changes your program has installed.
AT&T is my Internet Service Provider. Firefox is my browser. Right? When I installed the newer version of Firefox it usurped my AT&T Yahoo Home Page and Task Bar. I want my old home page and task bar back.
I used system recovery to go back a couple hrs. prior to when the new Fire Fox was installed and lost Firefox & At&T. Was in a great state of frustration when I couldn't get system recovery up after going to control panel. System recovery finally popped up again and I went forward to after installation of new Fire Fox and have system up again.
I am unable to read up on new Fire Fox program now. All I want is my old AT&T Yahoo Home Page back with their Task Bar. I can learn new Fire Fox as time permits.
For a non-profit organization I find Fire Fox quite aggressive. That is good when mobilizing us to write or call Congress but not to take over my Home Page.
Will have to admit new Fire Fox sure is faster.
I do want to commend you for taking a stand against what Congress is trying to do and also for your non-intrusive, not obnoxious way of asking for donations. You help inform us and let us know of your need and anyone that is not a free loader with a conscience, I think, would make a donation according to what one can afford. Keep up the good work and the good fight..........please do help me restore my home page back to AT&T with the old task bar.

Why are the menus (File, Edit, View, etc.) missing?
If you're using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you now have an orange Firefox button that takes the most common functions and puts them in one menu.
To temporarily show the old style menus, just press the Alt key.
To have them shown all the time, right-click on an empty section of the Tab Strip and check Menu Bar in the pop-up menu.

Pressing the Alt key didn't work for me but the latter instruction did the trick.
Check the Navigation Bar too on the pop-up menu if you want your Refresh and Home Icons to show. It took quite a few right-clicks for me before the pop-up menu I needed came up so keep trying until the right menu comes up.

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>GeneralReset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

How does an account holder return their old phone when they edged up through the Verizon Edge Program? I have wasted way too much of my time trying to do this and am certainly disgusted with Verizon's communication and website for this.

I have been searching this helpless website for 3 nights after work trying to figure out how to get my old phone back to "WHEREVER" it needs to go. I am soo frustrated, I'm ready to throw this phone away and forget it. I've read through posts and tried the links left to only be taken where I've already been, with NO LUCK AT ALL. I've even called verizon myself to get, yet again, NO HELP!! Can anyone give me the real answer as to what to do.???
I've got the box I received my new phone in, with the plastic bag for the old phone and some papers the clearly read, "Keep this for your records" nothing that says RETURN LABEL. Don't have an address, either!

As you know, I am using Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 for my current portal project. I have created JSR-168 JSF Portlet Project for my portlet development.
As I have some html pages ready for my development,
Can I import HTMLs from inside the project and use as portlet page for my project?
I did the followings steps:
1: In side the project - File -> Add Existing Item -> Web Page ( imported test.html page from my local folder)
2: Let it convert some of the tags for me ( so now it becomes - �test.jsp� )
3: Set it to initial view.
4. A default portlet page � newPortletPage.jsp is still there with no initial view.
Now after doing this, No Visual Designer and Properties window available to for that �test.jsp� page. Though it allowed me to �build� the project successfully.
When I build and run the portlet application, got the error message �Error occurred in portlet!� on Pluto Portal. Please advice.

You do not open fcpproject files. You don't double click or anything else. The files have to be in the correct folder structure in the Final Cut Projects folder and the application opens them automatically. Can you post screen shots of the Final Cut Projects folder and its location.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
