Install as Administrator, run from User account

I am using the Windows version of SQL Developer build 1454 with the included JDK, running on Windows XP x64.
I am having problems getting SQL developer to remember my user settings.
I unzipped the file into c:\oracle\product using a user account which is member of the Administrators group.
Now I am trying to run it using a user account that is a member of the Users group.
I have the user enviroment variable RAPTOR_USER_DIR set to %USERPROFILE%\.raptor, and I have created the .raptor directory.
What is happening is that every time I start SQL developer it keeps bringing up the Configure File Type Associations dialog. Other preferences seem to be saved correctly.

Hi,
You can stop SQL Developer from attempting to establish file associations by passing the no.shell.integration system property:
sqldeveloper -J-Dno.shell.integration=true
Thanks,
Brian

  • AUDIT action (create, delete, privilege escalation, set and change password from users account and group) users and admins in Solaris 10

    Hello.
in Solaris 10 i need auditing process create, delete, privilege escalation, set and change password and etc... from users account and group.
    I set settings:
    in file syslog.conf:
    *.info;mail.none;cron.none;audit.notice            @IP-Remote-syslog-server-SIEM
    in file   /etc/security/audit_control:
    dir:/var/audit
    flags:lo,ad,ex,cc,am,no,fc,fd
    minfree:20
    naflags:lo
    plugin:name=audit_syslog.so;p_flags=lo,ad,ex,cc,am,no
    in file   /etc/security/audit_user:
    root:lo,ad:no
Now I see in the logs only the fact of a connection via SSH and run processes on behalf of users. Creation. delete users, change passwords for some reason do not is logged.
Many users. For each individual write permissions in the file /etc/security/audit_user not possible, it is likely to forget any new user (or there is a possibility in this file one line to describe the audits for all accounts?)
    Where is the mistake?

You are most likely hitting Bug 15779000 user/role/groupadd/mod/del don't audit their use.
And the fix is only available in S11.2.

  • AppLocker Policy to stop executable running from User Profile

I am in process of implementing Applocker in our Environment.
To protect the clients from Malware attacks I want to configure a policy through which all the executable files can not run from User Profile. However I may have few executable files which must run as exception to this rule from the user profile.
    Please help.

    What exactly is your question?
You can set up applocker to prevent all exes from running and then list your exemptions.
You will also have to set up about 7 other exemptions for the users to actually be able to login.
Also note that Applocker only works with Windows 7 Enterprise and Ultimate. Not professional.

  • Flash player doesn't run in user accounts

I updated to Flash Player 12 and it runs when I am in the "Owner" account on my computer. However, it does not run when I am in a user account and it will not update directly from a user account (get "Do not have sufficient privileges" message). Is there something simple I should know to get it to run in all accounts? Using Windows Vista/IE9.

    Mike,
Thanks for your reply. I know this is probably pretty dumb, but could you tell me where the Flash Player "is" in order to do the Run as Administrator? When I am in a user account, it does not come up when I look at All Programs through the Start button. However, it is listed if I go through Control Panel/Programs and Features, although the Size column is blank. Does that mean it was not installed? I have the same situation (ie, it is not listed in All Programs) in the "Owner" account although the Flash Player does run fine there.
I appreciate your time & help.

  • Installing Microsoft Office on 2 user accounts

    Hi
I have 2 user accounts on a Mac Mini (both administrator)
I have installed Microsoft Office 2011 with Outlook but it has only shown up on one of user accounts. There was no option to install on both accounts when I installed it.
Is there anyway to use MS Office 2011 on the 2nd account?
    Thanks in advance
    Jeff

Where was Office installed; in the Mac HD/Apps folder, where it is accessible to all user accounts, or in the Users/~/Apps folder where it is only accessible to the user in whose account it is installed?

  • Installing Software/Drivers with 2-User Accounts

    Hello,
We just purchased a iMac, running OS 10.4.7. We set up two user accounts, both with admin status.
The problem we're encountering is that when we load new software, it's only appearing and available on the account it was installed under? Same with drivers, etc. that we download from the internet, for e.g., Media Player and bug fixes. Just installed a printer with software, and I imagine it won't be in the second user's account.
What are we doing wrong? Was it a bad idea to set up two users? I don't want to duplicate installs for each account, since we don't want to use up disk space needlessly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

There is an Application and Library folder at the root level of your hard drive. There is also a Library folder in your user folders (Harddrive:Users/[username]/Library) and sometimes an Application folder.
The default for installation that is going to be available to all users of a machine is the root level Applications or Library folders. Applications or files in your user folders are only available to that user (which can be particularly useful depending on the situation - but isn't your current concern).
It sounds like you are installing into the user directories. I would expect that most installers should take care of things and use the root level directories by default but, to the extent that you can control the install location, you should make sure it is the root level folders rather than your user folders.
For applications you can just drag any that are in your user folders to the root level folder (which should also be the one you access from the finder sidebar). Drivers and the like are more complicated and it would probably be safer to try reinstalling those and making sure they install for all users rather than individual users.

  • VI runs from one account but gives an error 37 from another account

I'm still running LabView 5.0 on a Solaris Server, 2.8.  This is really weird.  I have
a VI that will run just fine under my account, but another user tries to run the same
VI and gets an error 37, device not found.  We are using NI Serial Port Init.vi and when
I run it from my account which is unprivilege without using sudo, no errors, but when
this user runs its, error 37 occurs.  Any reason why this happens?  It sounds like a
permission problem, but I do not know where to look.  Suggestions welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Jay

Hey guys, I found the answer in this post.  I guess I did not look hard enough before I posted.  Sorry.
In the .labviewrc file make sure this line is included.
    labview.serialDevices:/dev/ttya:/dev/ttyb: . . . .
This sets ttya as port 0 , ttyb as port 1 etc etc.
You may have them set as root but not as a regular user.
Also for Solaris 2 , Labview expects the ports to be /dev/cua/a , /dev/cua/b ,
    etc etc.
You may need to change / add those links. ( I am a labview programmer not a
    Sys Admin !!)
Make sure that the line in the .labviewrc matches what ever these are set to.
Note that the first dev listed will be port 0, the next port 1 etc. so you can
    set them in any
    order that you wish.
    Hope this helps,
    Kevin Kent

  • Transferring Photos from User Accounts

How do you transfer photos from one user account on the Mac OS X to another user account on the same computer?

For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • Access admin share from Users account. UAC into admin.

    Server 2012 R2 domain.
I want USERS to be able to UAC into Admins and access Admins shares.
To be clear: I want to type \\svr1.horse.local\c$ from a USER account without Admin rights, to be able to access that share.
I have added LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy, and set it to 1. No difference, and yes I have restarted. :)

    Hi,
Another way to access Administrative Shares is to Disable UAC Admin Approval mode for all administrator accounts.
Checkout the below link for article on Access Denied for Admin Shares, Disabling the UAC restrictions and Disabling UAC Admin Approval mode,

  • Firefox just started to do this if on one user account someone has firefox running another user account on the same computer can not connect to the internet through firefox while firefox is running in the first user account

    Windows XP/Windows 7
2 user accounts on the computer. If each acct is logged into the computer and tries to have firefox running only one can connect to the internet at a time. Have Verizon FIOS for ISP and this just started to occur. Firefox version 8 but also happening in firefox 6.0.2. How can we run firefox in two computer accts at the same time? Thank you

I am having exactly the same problem. This worked on all versions of Firefox up until mid last week. It started failing on Wednesday, coincident with the installation of Firefox 8.0 (see attached gif showing the automatic update on that date).
To fix the problem, you have to shut down Firefox 8.0 on one account, switch to the other account and then you can run it there.
If Firefox 8.0 is running on on account, the other account will run Firefox, but when you enter an URL it waits for quite a while then reports "The connection was reset. The connection was reset while the page was loading".
We also use Thunderbird 8.0 and it does not exhibit this problem, and works at the same time as Firefox 8.0. I suspect they might share some components.
I'd be happy to supply more details if needed.
    Thanks,
    Ed

  • Apple mail migration from user account

Is it possible to migrate entire mail accounts from one user to another? I had to create a new user account to get some of my Adobe applications to work. In doing so, my mail data all resides in the old user account.
