Installation of Weblogic Process Integrator

Can someone let me know where to install Process Integrator from ? The BEA link for downloading Process INtegrator takes me to entire platform download which after installation does not show up Process Integrator applications anywhere
Thanks in advance

Hi Krishna,
Hopefully I can help answer your questions.
1.) Yes, the client can be installed on a machine other then the server, and on a machine that has a different OS then the server.
2.) You will need a separate domain in Weblogic in order to use the J2EE agent and/or the ODI console (a web interface into the ODI metadata).
3.) I have not personally read any ODI books, but the Oracle By Examples site has some pretty decent tutorials to follow.
Good luck!

Michael Rainey

  • WebLogic Process Integrator

Hello, I am having problems with weblogic process
integrator. I am running the sample tutorial(tutorial.jar)
that comes with it. The example is very straight forward but I am
having problems getting the workflow to send email to a user
(outside of workflow) when it completly executes a workflow. I have tried updating
the config.xml file (which is read upon startup) contains entries
    for:
    mail.from
    mail.host
    mail.sender
    mail.user
    mail.password
but I am having no luck.
My mail program is outlook (and it uses Microsoft Exchange).
I have tried using my email address for "mail.from"
and an IP Adreess or mail server name (e.g., CORP1)
    for "mail.host"
    Can you help.

    Lance
I suggest you open a support case with WebLogic Support.
Send email to [email protected] with more information on the issue. Please
send any exceptions that have been thrown too. Make sure to specify the
    product as WebLogic Process Integrator.

    Hi,
I'm evaluating WL Process Integrator and Collaborate products.
I need some quick answers to the following:
    1. Does WL Process Integrator require its own dedicated WL process? Not necessarily. There is nothing stopping you from running WLPI
along with any other app. WLPI is "merely" a collection of EJBs,
and will quite happily co-exist with other apps.
    2. Can WL Process Integrator servers be clustered? Not in the current release. WLPI1.2 makes heavy use of JMS, which
    is not clusterable in WLS5.1.
    3. Does Collaborate requires its own dedicated WL process?Again, not necessarily.
    4. Can Collaborate servers be clustered? Not in the current release.

    Hello
I wander where to find latest instruction guide for installation of latest (oracle based) Process Integration system.
I is a little confusing to me. I sit not a part of NW7.4? In SWPM there is a complete dedicated section to PI 7.1.

Hi Jan - Yes. For 7.4(even for 7.3)we should refer to the installation documents under the relevant product version. There is no separate category like 7.1 and 7.1 EHP
what is the operating system? Are you looking for dual stack or single stack installation?
However have a look at the below master guide..

  • Running process integrator studio remotely

    Hi again
    -I have the following scenario.:
My installation of Process Integrator is on a solaris server. To facilitate using
    the Studio application,
I have packaged up the required jar files and am able to run the Process Integrator

When starting the collaborate samples server up on the console and connecting
to it remotely (from my machine) ,
    it works fine.
BUT when starting up the server remotely through a telnet session and then connecting
to it using the application from my machine, problems start to appear.
Firstly, the server log reports a very long exception list that starts as follows:
    javax.transaction.TransactionRolledbackException: java.lang.InternalError: Can't
connect to X11 window server using '<serverip>:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY
    variable.

not matter. And besides, this problem does not arise when collaborate is stared

    Interesting.
As the stacktrace suggests, there is a call to javax.swing.ImageIcon constructor; which
needs some native information related to X11 server. This is the swing behaviour, BEA
    can't help it :)
Set your DISPLAY env variable to correct value and after that this should work even
from a telnet session. You will need X11 authorization to connect remotely, though.
BEA can "fix" this by storing icon detail in bytearray instead of ImageIcon object; as the
server side is not going to need ImageIcon object : It just needs to send the information
to client side. Then client side can build ImageIcon using this bytearray. But I guess this
is too much to ask if the workaround above works.

  • SLD Technical System Process Integration

    Hi XI Gurus,
I have a question regarding the 5th type of Technical Systems, Process Integration. Is it automatically generated once XI is restarted? In Note 764176, it's telling me to remove the PI technical systems. How can I recreate them? Will they be generated automatically or will we input them manually? Thanks!

    Hi,
Ideally, you need to have 2 Technical System entries for your PI system and 6 entries for Technical System Type 'Exchange Infrastructure'.
the first category (i.e 2 systems) suppose to get deployed automatically using RZ70 (ABAP) and SLD Data Supplier (java).
And the 2nd catergory (i.e 6 entries) suppose to also get deployed automatically but in case, If you do not find them all here is the workaround to get them
    1. If XI Integration Directory  or XI Integration Repository not found then, Please start these tools from default tools page (http://<hostname>:<http port>/dir) upon starting these 2 components you will see them added in SLD
    2. If Adapter Engine not found then, logon NWA, stop & start XPI Service: AF Core & XPI facade: Adapter Framework (Navigation - Configuration Management->Infrastructure->Java System Properties); this should help you get Adapter Engine
    3. The other 3 entries, Domain, Integration Server and RWB should come and usually comes always with automatic installation.
    4. If you still do see after following above instructions, i suggest delete all of them both Technical specific & Exchange Infrastracture" related entries from SLD and then re-deploy RZ70, push 'Collect and Send data' option from 'SLD Data Supplier'  from NWA.
ofcourse, you can always follow the instructions provided in the note that you were refering.

  • Process integrator 2.0

I am using process integrator 2.0 . Does anyone know where do we copy the java class files ( not ejbs) for studio - Define Business Operation - . I get a class not found message. I have copied by class files to weblogic\myserver\serverclasses..

You need to make sure that the classes you are creating are being placed in a directory that is in the Server's weblogic classpath. Look at the WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH variable defined in the setWLPIServerEnv script in the Server sub-directory to see
if the weblogic\myserver\serverclasses directory is there (it isn't by default).

  • Process Integrator authorization question

Regarding the API that Process integrator exposes for both the client and server
is there any authorization performed at the EJB and method level. I haven't found
any documentation on this. For example, I log in as a non-admin user into Process
Integrator and use the EJB Admin object to try and create a template definition,
but I shouldn't have the permission to do this.

I don't know much about WLPI, but I have forwarded this along internally and

    Hi,
I'm not sure where to ask a Process Integrator question so I have
decided to ask here. I have been asked to look at business
process (workflow) automation. I have read the datasheet and your
whitepaper on Process Integrator and my question at the moment
is "How do we integrate Process Integrator with existing sets of
EJB's? How does it tie together with WebLogic 5.1 (is it a bunch
of EJB's deployed on top of the app server ala Commerce Server)?
I'm looking for more technical answers so that I have some
understanding in estimating how much work/effort it would take
to use this product. I also know that this is your engine for your
future Collaborate product, however, that product will not be
available soon enough to tackle our customers current needs.
Thanks for your patience in reading this long message and
I would appreciate any answers including "forget about it until

technical reason to my manager about why we should
    consider using Process Integrator.
