Installation troubles: silent exit? PLEASE HELP!

I am installing jdk-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe on a vital Windows 2003 Enterprise-running personal computer, and after clicking "Next" in the setup destination dialogue, the installer silently fails.
I have included the following log-file which incorporates all events and/or verbosity.

    I was not complete clear.
    Since you never changed the settings in the advanced section of iTunes preferecnes, you have to chech that your music is really in the location setted in the folders reported in the advanced section.  If not you have 2 ways: reset the position of this folders or in the actual disk organisation or in the pointing on the preferences.
    If you press the reset button you just give to itunes its default setting as for the position of the music files: probably this will be a good choice if you have never changed any default preference.
    But before I would check the folders and see if the songs are really there
    In my iTune I have this, and I believe it is the default.

    My JDK version is 1.6.0_03, and the jre i was using was 1.5.0 . The problem was fixed after i upgraded my jre to 1.6.0_07 :)
    So, it looks like both jdk and jre have to be the same major version (1.6.0 in my case) for the installation to be successful.

  • Itunes Installation Problems!! Please help!!!

    I recently bought an Ipod Nano, but it is not registering on my Itunes. I have tried to dowload Itunes 7 but everytime I do, it says there is an error with "Stopping Services." I have no idea what this means, or how to correct it. Can anybody please help me?

    Version 7.0.2.16
    okay. with that message on earlier versions (itunes 7.0.0.70 and 7.0.1.8), some folks had some success with pgfpdwife's technique in the following post:
    pgfpdwife: Re: Could not open key HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classic\Quicktime.Quicktime\
    note carefully that the technique involves a registry edit. be sure to make a backup of any keys you edit. if you're unfamiliar with your registry or registry editing, head to your XP help and support, do a search on registry, and read through the articles that come up.
    There are also some instructions on how to back up registry keys in the following document:
    Error 1406 or 1402 appears when you install iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
    is that of any help with your 7.0.2.16 version of this?

  • My Mac book is restarting frequently after installing few updates.It has started to bother me that why the system asked me to restart 4 times after the installation was done . PLease HELP

    Hi please help ,
    Certain updates were been installed  and then a restart was done to install the updates successfully in my MAc Book PRO .After restarting the sytem,  the system displayed a message for a restart  and it happened three times.Every time i Login in back , the message displayed on the  screen says " Your computer was restarted beacuse of a problem". I'm new to Mac and therefore could not understand the problem. It would be much appreciated if some one can answer or explain this activity to me .

    Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first  year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.
    Good luck.

  • Loads of trouble with n73, please help me.

    Ok, I bought the n73 about a month ago, and I've been happy with it. A bit on the slow side, but acceptable.
    Now since about a week, the damn thing has been driving me crazy. First, it started losing network connection, no calls in or out. So I went through the menu, thinking I can find the problem. Then the phone starts crashing. First only once or twice, no nearly 70% of the time I cannot do ANYTHING with it. The nokia screen shows up and no buttons, not even the on/off button, work. Sometimes it starts working by itself in a few minutes, but usually it just stays that way. I have tried to update the software, but everytime I try to connect, either the connection breaks off or it crashes. I downloaded the pc software, but it wont connect that way either.
    I'm really starting to think it hardware based, since I never dropped it or gotten it wet or anything. But I'm still hoping someone here knows how to deal with this. Please help me!

    Have you used it before?  It sounds like it's open a default - and corrupt - catalog.
    You can create a new one and start from scratch by holding down control as you start it.

  • Troubled with PreparedStatement, please help

    Hello all:
    Here is a seemingly too simple a problem which is already taking my day. Please help.
    String x=null;
    String querry1 = null;
    String querry2 = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    Statement st = null;
    PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
    try {
    st = conn.createStatement();
    //MAKE FIRST QUERRY
    querry1 = "SELECT * FROM table1 WHERE (a= ? OR b = ?)";
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(querry1);
    pstmt.setString(1, userInput);
    pstmt.setString(2, userInput);
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    while(rs.next()){
    //Process the result set.
    //The value of x is one of the values in the result set.
    //Hence get it.
    x = rs.getString("C");
         }//end while
    //No problem up to here.
    //For check, output the value of x
    System.out.println(x); //correct non-null value is displayed
    //MAKE SECOND QUERRY based on the value of 'x'
    querry2 = "SELECT * FROM table2 WHERE C= ? ";
    //Table 1 and table 2 have a common column C.
    //I want to retrieve the value from table 2 for which C=x;
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(querry2);
    pstmt.setString(1, x);
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    //The problem is that in this 2nd querry, SQL error is caught, with the message
    "java.sql.SQLException: Illegal operation on empty result set"
    //whereas it should have produced a valid value.
    //When the querry is formed explicitly (as follows), there is no problem. Result set is OK.
    //when the value of x is "mystring", then the follwoing 3 lines work
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(querry2);
    pstmt.setString(1, "mystring");
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    Please teach me what the hell I'm not getting here.
    Thank you.

    I would have thought you'd get this exception:
    "java.sql.SQLException: Illegal operation on empty result set"
    because you're trying to call something like:
    rs.getString("foo");on an empty ResultSet. You can test whether the ResultSet has any rows as ResultSet.next() returns a boolean value, i.e.:
    if (rs.next())
        rs.getString("foo");
    }So the question is why is your second ResultSet empty? Maybe the value of C you are getting from table1 has leading/trailing whitespace that is not in table2?

  • BROWSER TROUBLE . . PLEASE HELP

    I have a complicated problem, so hope someone can help. But have to warn you in advance that because it is complicated, you're going to need a little patience to wade thru the facts:
    1) Safari is my primary browser, but there are a couple of instances in it does not work well for me. e.g., While I can browse thru eBay listings, it's been totally useless to me the few times I've tried to list items for sale myself. It's fine for filling in "the blanks" that apply to everyone, but when it comes to describing specific items, not only are the formatting tools unavailable to Safari, but the description requires the use of HTML, which I do not know.
    2) The only way I could do that was by switching to FireFox, which I downloaded to my iMac. Although I don't think it allowed the full range of formatting tools, at least I could input data and switch between half a dozen fonts and reasonably full spectrum of colors.
    3) Since yesterday, all that changed. Initially, it was just one of the drop-down menus that did not function properly, but minutes later, when I tried to log in again, it did not recognize my password (although it worked if I logged in from Safari . . . or even an old version of IE on my spare Mac). After that, it insisted FF was not accepting cookies. No matter how many times I cleared the cache and cookies, and verified that "accept cookies" was on, it insisted I was wrong.
    IN all I probably spent close to 4 hours communicating with eBay's Live Help reps, each of whom . . . after thumbing thru their manuals and occasionally speaking their tech team, returned to say the problem must be with my Mac and that I needed to take it in for service.
    Meanwhile, while groping for an answer myself, I found over 20 alerts and messages in FF's Error Console — all referring to eBay's site. Thinking their tech team might find a clue in them, I offered several times to forward them, but was turned down each time. Instead, they advised that I try IE.
    4) Having heard that IE is fraught with viruses and spyware, I had been avoiding that for months, but finally gave in and tried to download it. But according to the download site, MS had stopped supporting IE for Macs several years ago, when Apple switched to Safari.
    5) Recalling that my old Mac already had IE on it, I gave it a try, but discovered it relied on HTML for descriptions, too.
    6) My last hope was Netscape, which lo and behold does work. Just one problem: according to their website, they will officially stop supporting the program tomorrow (2-01-08)!
    So I have 2 questions:
    1) Does anyone have any ideas on how I can restore FF?
    Even if including the error console alerts would be helpful, I can't do that anymore because they disappeared when I deleted the cache, cookies and personal data. But as I recall they all referred to being unable to read the parameters for height and width (whatever that means). I don't recall anything about the "original" final warnings, and their are only two up now (no alerts). Most recent one says: ""Error: ebay is not defined
    Source File: https://secureinclude.ebaystatic.com/js/e547/uk/features/signin/signinfootere5472uk.js
    Line: 28".
    (And yes, I was trying to list something on eBay's UK site.)
    Question #2: Is there any other free, downloadable browser that does not require HTML for user input?
    Sorry for taking up so much space and time, but I figured you probably would be asking me for some of the info anyway.
    I consider myself lucky (and pat myself on my back each time my husband complains about the problems his PC gives him) because in general, every one of the Macs I've owned over the years has made me look like a pro, by comparison. But when I have run into problems I could not solve on my own, I've always been able to count on these discussion groups for a solution. Sure hope you can come thru for me again today.

    Hi C S!
    As you posted in another Thread, that you can't recall how to Post a New Topic, here is the scoop!
    If you have a question, or suggestion, about using Discussions, from this page Feedback about Discussions, click on Post New Topic. This is where you mistakenly posted this Topic.
    If you have a Technical question about Apple Hardware, Programs, Services, Technology, Software, Applications, Products, etc, from this page Discussions - Forum Home, select an appropriate Category from one of the sixteen divisions.
    For example, under Mac OS X Related Software, choose the Category Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger.
    On the page that opens, select a Forum, such as Installation & Setup, or Using Mac OS X Tiger, for example.
    Most Category pages, have numerous Forums within them.
    But some may have only one, two, or three.
    For example the Safari Category page has four choices listed under Forum / Category, but only two of them, are Forums:
    Safari 3 Public Beta for Windows
    Safari for Mac Support forum.

  • Iphone 5 trouble with charging, please help?

         Haven't had my iPhone for long (around November for my birthday) and for about the last couple of weeks recently I have had major trouble with the battery charge.
         At first I thought it was the cables, so I got new one after new one and they'd work but then stop working. Until the last one I just purchased, it pretty much stopped charging the phone straight away. No lightening or sound response, no connection via computer etc. So, when my charge ran out I still had it plugged into my computer and now my phone only chargers when it's off when it's plugged into a USB port (bear in mind, it doesn't connect to iTunes-it says USB is unrecognized although it still chargers the phone when off). However, it charges fairly quickly when off but when in use the charge diminishes just as quick as it takes to charge. Not only that but now whenever I wish to turn my iPhone off, it turns itself back on.
          I have recently sent off my phone to the Apple store to have it checked over and it came back to me saying they couldn't reproduce the symptons I had mentioned so there was me thinking everything was fine but nope, still faulty. So a bit disappointed with paying £7.00 for delivery to have nothing been done about it (not only that, but the phone as also out of charge when returned so it just seemed like my phone wasn't looked over one bit). Also a bit disappointed and annoyed at the fact I'm still paying for my monthly contract for the phone when I am unable to use it!!!
         I haven't damaged the phone (it basically looks brand new) and haven't exposed it to any liquids. The USB port on my phone where I charge it seems clear too.
          The annoyance of having to send it back to Apple costing me more money is offputting so does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going to my local 3 store to see if they can help me out but I'm just a bit fed up now. Can see this is a popular problem amongst other iPhone users too.
    Many thanks!
    (Oh and need to add I HAVE updated everything on my phone, restored everything, restarted etc.)

    Yeah I went to the 3 store and they said that it costs if they find it's a software issue (which I believe isn't fair). However, after sending mine off and having it back exactly the same I headed off to the 3 store and asked to see what they could do for me. Of course, they can't touch Apple phones so they kindly phoned Apple again for me to only say that Apple have NO record of me even sending my phone off even though I have written and e-mail proof. They then said that they replaced my phone in which they didn't. So I spoke to the senior supervisor who said for me to send it off again (yawn) but to be replaced and if it doesn't then I have to e-mail her directly. It's such an annoying issue because I'm still paying for my phone when I can't even use it.
    My advice is, definitely go to the store. Even-though they can't actually replace it there and then or send it off themselves to be repaired but they (should) phone up Apple and help you further. Apple shouldn't be asking you for such an upfront cost without even looking at your phone as it could be another issue.
    That's me up to date. Sending it off tomorrow, hopefully receive a replaced working phone now.

  • Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit - PLEASE HELP

    After running Verify disc I keep getting the following message, What does it mean and how can I repair it? - the Repair disk option is always blanked out;
    "The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
    Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair"

    Maybe make a clone backup of the entire drive to an external FW drive that you can boot from.
    Cloning a drive with directory damage, or corrupt data will result in the exact same errors. If the original isn't able to boot, most likely, the clone won't be able to either.
    Backups are to protect your data when trouble strikes. After trouble rears it's ugly head, it's too late for clones. Manual (drag and drop) copying of the file can be accomplished, as long as the troubled drive mounts.
    Once the original has been repaired, then cloning is once again a good backup protocol.

  • Major iTunes Trouble...PLEASE HELP!

    When my iPod battery died, I plugged it right in to my computer. Usually, I have no problems updating or charging. I figured I would listen to some music while the iPod was charging, so after I plugged it it, I opened iTunes, and a window popped up that said "iTunes service cannot be deleted," but I was still able to open iTunes. Then another window came up that said "The software for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." This has never happened, so I'm curious as to what's going on and what I can do to fix it without having all of my songs erased. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Check this: iPod shows up in Windows Explorer but not in iTunes, iPod Service Error or Please reinstall iTunes
