Installed iTunes on Win 7. Everything is there except when I hook up my phone the mene has all the active buttons, but there's no lettering on the screen to see what they are

(Apologies for butting in wiclee.)
The effect is usually caused by trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system. Unfortunately it's a bit trickier to deal with on Windows 7 systems than Vista or XP. (The "Vortical" instructions which can fix it for almost all folks on Vista and XP aren't applicable to Windows 7.)
Try having a look through the following (unfortunately very long) topic. It contains a lot of information on the Windows 7 variants of this, and possible methods for fixing the various Segoe UI-related issues that might be in play:

  • How do I stop the downloading of ALL 11 EPISODES of Downton Abbey?   I can't watch any of them because they are frozen in PROCESSING.

I purchased Season 3 from iTunes and "downloaded" it.  When I went to watch them, I found they were not fully downloaded, but just a small bit of each episode.  As if each was holding a place for the rest of the episode to be downloaded.
I started watching these, but after each episode, it is as if the iPad info-structure rearranges itself.  My GENERAL settings tell me I've used next to none of my 5 GB storage space.  But when I try to watch a second episode, it tells me I have run out of space.  A few times I was able to find a page that I could EDIT & DELETE the episodes i had already watched.  So I deleted the earlier episodes and was able to finish downloading the next one.  At an agonizingly slow pace.   It took at least half an hour to download a 47 minute video.
Now I can't find the setting page where I was able to EDIT and delete the episodes I have seen.  I have been reading the iPad Secrets Manual, trying to find out what is going on.  Not the free LITE manual, but the paid manual.  It should have been called the LITE manual, as it barely skims the surface.  I have probably messed up my settings trying to figure out what is eating up my hard drive and battery.
Can anyone recommend a good manual that is written for a new Apple user - one that is not written in geek speak.  And can anyone suggest how I can get these to finish downloading?
    IOS 6.1.3
    iPad with WIFI & cellular
    Thank you

If you are seeing 5 gig of storage, then are you looking at Settings > General > Usage > Available (in the iCloud section) ? If you are then that shows how much space that you have available in the cloud, not on the actual iPad (TV shows don't use any of your iCloud allowance).
How much space do you have available on your iPad - it should be shown at at top of Settings > General > Usage, and in Settings > General > About > Available. It looks like the Downton Abbey episodes vary between about 1.8 and 2.7 gig each in HD format, 500 to 800 meg in SD format.
To delete an episode from a series, then select the series on the TV Programmes screen in the Videos app and if you swipe across the episode's name you should get a Delete button appear on it. If they are stuck in the Downloads tab in the iTunes store app and you want to delete them to stop them downloading, then try swiping across the name of it in that tab and see if you get a Delete button

  • HT204053 Is there a limit to the number of devices I can have on one account.  I have all two of my kids ipods, plus, mine, an ipad, and my iphone, and need to add one more.  I do this so that I have control over and can see what they are downloading.

Is there a limit to the number of devices I can have on one account.  I have been putting my kids' ipods on my account so that I can manage their downloads, and control it.  Then I just create playlists for them specifically.  Now, adding another one for my youngest, but have no idea if there are limits.

Well the part about putting songs in the "iTUnes Music" folder I only brought up because it seemed you liked things very organized. You could use iTunes to so all the organizeing. Plus once you add something to the iTUnes library, if you change ANYTHING about it in windows explorer, like its name, change the name of the folder its in or move it to another folder, iTUnes "Looses Track" of it. Its not like other programs that "Watch" files and folders for changes outside its "iTUnes Music" folder
But to have iTUnes auto search, you have to delete a hidden pref file. After doing this, when you open iTUnes again it will throw up a setup wizard, just like its the first time ever installing it. Its in this wizard where you get your ONLY chance to have iTUnes auto search and add files from the system. Just goto the link below and follow Scott P's steps

  • When i watch youtube videos my screen goes blury and i cant see what they are doing. Any solutions?

Does any one know a suloution?

Sounds a bit like a hardware problem, faulty RAM in particular. Run the Hardware Test (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303605) which is either on a separate CD/DVD or on the install disk 1:
    - Make sure that no peripheral devices (printer, keyboard, mouse,...) are attached to the computer.
    - Insert the disk and reboot while holding down the "D"-key on the Macbook's keyboard.
    - Run the tests (also try the extended one if the other doesn't find any errors)
If the test finds an error report back to Apple with the error number. If the computer is still under warranty, they should organize a repair.
    Hope that helps

I had an ipod before the icloud was introduced.  All of my apps and music were purchased using this account.  In order to use icloud services, a me.com had to be created.  My purchases and apps are in the original account and my email, contacts, calendar and notes are in the new account.  Is there a way to merge them?

    You cannot merge accounts.

  • HT204088 I forget the answers to my security questions, how do I find out what they are?

I'm trying to buy a song for an important event and due to it being the first time on this laptop that I am purchasing a song, I have to provide the answers to my securit questions and i cant remember them. How do I find out what they are? Please.

f you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' or 'iTunes Store account security' (it appears to vary by country) and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox).

  • Is there ANYONE in BT who knows what they are talk...

I switched from Virgin to BT joining BT on 02/11/2013, on that day I phoned up and spoke to a representative about keeping my old number. I was told this is no problem and it will automaticaly be done. Few days went by and I had no confirmation, I have now possibly been speaking to 30 different representatives, who all told me a different story, one told me that it is categoricaly in no way possible to keep a Virgin number on BT lines, I spoke to Virgin who is still keeping the number open for BT to port but they have had no communication from BT regarding this, I have spoken to Managers, Supervisors from Scotland to Manila, then finaly the email came we are changing your number to (the number I requested to keep from Virgin) with a follow up email to say "Where all done" Brilliant I thought, I rang my old Virgin Nmber only to find it is not ringing on my BT line, so I checked on MyBT, to find that BT successfully changed my number to a number which I did not request, who knows where they sucked that number from. So back to the rigmaral toing and froing, I think I must have spent at least 60 hours of my time to try and find someone who can help me to date I have not received any calls from a manager who I can discuss this farse!
So on 28/11/2013 the engineers came to install, he was digusted when I explained the whole story and told me this should have been done prior to instalation. So more hours spent in trying to get someone who know what they are talking about, emails, chats and calls, but nothing. Then last night finaly someone who was prepared to take some action and get this sorted great I thought now it will be done, BUT NO!!!!! tonight I get a call saying that I can not keep the number because it is at a different exchange, keeping in mind that Brierly Hill who my BT number is with is in Stourbridge and this is where I live and have been for the past 8 years, so I can not keep a number that is in the same house, the person kept telling me that this ca not be given to me at my new address and the more I explained I have not moved house and that Brierly Hill is in Stourbridge my line is an 01384 area code and the number I want is 01384, so I asked him to renumber me to a BT number in the Stourbridge exchange so that my Virgin number can be ported but this was obviously not in his grasp, I just can not believe that Virgin has been more helpful about this and that BT believes themselves to be so big that a simple request and these are the only words "I would like to keep my Virgin Number 01384 xxxxx" How can such a simple request turn into such a horible mess, so if there is actualy anyone who knows what they are talking about could they please contact me, surely I am not the only person to switch from Virgin to BT requesting to keep their number, I just wish I could afford the £600.00 I was toldI will have to pay if I cancelled my account immediately, well I guess 18 Months is not that long, then I will be free from the most ignorant organisation I have ever had the displeasure to have dealt with and I will post this on every forum I can find to warn off people who are thinking of joining BT, Virgin Sucks but be assured BT is multitudes worse!!!!!

So I was told last night that the "Special Cases Team" will be contacting me today, have they HECK NO!!!! does a team like that actually exist? My guess is probably not! So I will try and forget about it for tonight and then tomorrow I will try and contact someone in this mysterious department, the one that deals with such complex issues as "I am moving from Virgin Media, I would like to keep my Number" This is such a complex request that it take a "Special Cases Team", well that is if it actually exists, to deal with such a case. So I now understand that my Virgin Number exists in the Stourbridge Telephone Exchange, so my question to BT Management is why allocate me a number from the Brierly Hill Exchange, when it quite a simple check, there are several websites that will tell you what exchange your number originates from, and when I asked this simple request to keep my number. I was told that BT can not give me that number at the Stourbridge Exchange because of my address, so my question is how on earth can Virgin allocate me a number at the Stourbridge exchange for the same address where I lived for the past 8 years? Well I am getting tired of this situation, but I will not give up until this is resolved, so let us see how long BT will leave me with a perfectly useless phoneline and how many more important appointments I will miss because, even I am not sure what number I have now, afterall BT has only been notified on 02/11/2013, not bad handling of a simple request he, and to date not one customer relations member of staff could be bothered to contact me, never mind a manager, mind you do those actually exist or are they working on how to cause most headaches for new customers and ensure that they cancel their contract at the soonest possible date!

    Dear sir/madam
Please I'd be happy if we can claim where we are misleaded when buying the product : The retailer or seller should know what they are selling ... For example I asked earphone for my shuffle ipod 3rd generation showing it but the they gave me an ear phone which just was like an ordinary earphone where I can't low and high the volume nor I can select the playlist ... Please read below

    Dear madam/sir,
It's me Santosh Lamichhane who just arrived to my place in Kathmandu, Nepal after a month visit in Bolivia and Argentina ...
Dear madam/sir, I like to inform you that while my visit in Santa Cruz de La sierra in Bolivia I bought a new earphone for my ipod shuffle 3G due to the problem in my old earphone on the date as followed in the bill of as shown

    Date 02/04/2012 time: 03:34:22 PM
I did checked the earphone there same time and found that I can't lower or high the volume from that new purchased earphone and even asked why and one of your senior staff said it might be the problem of my ipod shuffle's setting, Since the beginning of the time of purchase till I came to Nepal 4 days ago I didn't use the ipod because I'm not able to increase the volume and I didn't took my laptop with me while my visit there ...
But when I try to restore my shuffle here ; even that doesn't works ... Today and yesterday when I checked my friend's earphone of ipod - it was working on my shuffle and my earphone also working in his classic ...
I want to kindly request you since I showed my shuffle at the time of buying earphone there in Altek, San Martin AV in SAnta Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia and asked I need the earphone for my ipod shuffle 3G It's not my fault ... Could you please ask the agents of apple here in Kathmandu to replace it with the working the right compatible earphone for me ...
Hope to hear from you very soon ...

  • Frustration! Refund for apps that don't do what they are supposed to?

How quickly a $2 app turns into a $50 waste of time!
I purchased a $2 unit converter app to use at work and whenever else I needed it. After playing with it for about 20-30 minutes, I realized that there were several calculation errors. The unit converter simply didn't do correct conversions! (1 foot equals 11.986 inches!?) Now, If I'm noticing some simple conversion errors myself, how many conversion errors are happening that I don't realize? Needless to say, this app is useless to me because I can't trust its data.
So I contacted the dev, and even got a response within a day. I sent a second message where I had done a lot of troubleshooting for them, hoping they could correct the problems. Nothing. No update, no response, nothing.
So this brings me to my question... how can you get a refund for an app that doesn't do what it is supposed to do?
Yes, yes, I realize the "all sales are final" thing. But this is where Apple's usual high level of customer service fails. Am I supposed to buy apps on blind faith that they work, knowing there is no refund? If I was assured that someone was testing these apps and assuring me that they do what they are supposed to, then okay. But that's not happening.
Oh, wait... read reviews before buying? How is that possible for new(er) apps? If nobody buys it because they are waiting for reviews, then nobody can review it. I'd hate to be a dev and make a great app and have nobody buy it because they were afraid it wouldn't work.
Not all apps have free/lite/trial versions.
If this "no refund" policy is to be fair, then there needs to be demo or trial periods on all apps, to be certain that they actually do what they are supposed to! Until then, I want my $2 back so I can buy a unit converter that doesn't have calculation errors. I won't hold my breath for that... or for the ~$50 of my time wasted testing someone else’s app to no avail, and trying to find a contact source for Apple to request a refund.

I do see where you are coming from.
However I'm just personally against people buying something with the intent of taking it back and that's what would worry me here. I'm talking about girls I know who buy 4 dresses to take home and try out (and perhaps wear) and then take some or all of them back. Now that's one way to shop but I don't agree with it as I think it makes it more expensive for the rest of us as there is a cost involved in customer service and repackaging returned items. Note that is an example and I don't particularly care about buying dresses myself - except on Fridays when I log on as BettyDP
And you mention you only want this for broken apps (i.e. ones that fail to deliver what the are for), rather than apps you bought and decided you didn't like/need. But this is a fine line and some people would use such a system to try to claim money back on an app they bought and thought wasn't that good, even if it did what it said. So who's to judge where that line is? And to have Apple employing people to make that call would push up the cost to all the apps.
Now you genuinely have an issue with this particular app and, in my opinion, deserve your money back. However if you buy 100s of apps and end up wanting your money back on a large proportion of them then I do not agree with you, for the above reasons. When spending money, in my opinion, you should do your research and read reviews to make sure it suits. Sometimes, for a new app, you can't do as much in which case you either take a risk or hope you can get your money back if it doesn't suit. Yes, an item sold should do what it says to meet basic trading standards (and otherwise it's basically fraud), but, IMHO, there should also be a level of caveat emptor (buyer beware).
Ultimately, for $2, I personally would probably chalk it up to experience and not try to reclaim it - thinking that the time spent trying to claim it back would be more hassle than it's worth. But then maybe that's just me.
Now your demo point is a good one. Some app developers make a demo or lite version of their app to give you a free preview. That's their choice and not something Apple enforces and they think the extra coding to make this version is worth it in that it hopefully will drive up more sales. I agree it would be nice if Apple put some funky time limit on ALL apps so developers don't have to do this, and so you get it for free for 24hours to trial. It would certainly help in your situation and I myself would also find this useful.
Finally the time you spent debugging the app is your time. You didn't need to do that and I don't think that's really that relevant here (I presume you aren't expecting to get you $2 back AND some extra because you spent some time fiddling with it?)
Anyway, now I've made my opinion known (which you are perfectly entitled to disagree with), I'll get off my high horse and actually point you out to something helpful:
    http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2009/07/09/iphone-app-refund/
(note I did read your comment about this form not working but I'd say try it again later or on another browser).
Also note the interesting comments on this link which give more reasons (from a Developers point of view) why this is possibly a bad idea...

trying to install itunes on win 8.1.  keep getting error apple application support not found.  asks me to uninstall and install itunes.  i tried several times and keep getting same error.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Okay, I've figured it out, so I'm going to answer my own question in hopes that it may help anyone else that would like to actually be able to see what they're doing when using Photoshop CC 2014 on a high resolution screen.
    1.  Open Photoshop.
    2.  Select Preferences from the Edit Menu, then select General.
    3.  Change the HUD Color Picker to Hue Strip (Medium).
    4.  Select Interface from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
    5.  Change the UI Font Size to Large in the Text area of the Preferences dialog box.
    6.  Select Experimental Features from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
    7.  Select Scale UI 200% for high-density displays (Windows only).
    8.  Click on OK, then Exit/Quit Photoshop.
    9.  Open Photoshop and everything should be readable.
