Installing BI stats Best practices

Hi Experts,
I am installing BI Statistics for our client in SAP BI 7.0. Now, experts who have worked on this must be knowing that there are tons of objects that are activated on the system while installing it. Now to transport this to Quality and prodcutions can be quite cumbersome and hectic process.
So my question to experts is:
1. Is installing this on production not a good practice?
2. If we install it directly on production would it impact system and existing users?
3. Is there any better and easier way, we can transport Technical Content objects to Prodcution in comparison to manual capturing of relevant objects, if we go by conventional way?

Yes, it is not a good practice.
2. If we install it directly on production would it impact system and existing users?
It would not impact any existing users and it will have nominal impact on system. BI statistics is similar your data model it depends on size of cubes that grow along with time frame.
3. Is there any better and easier way, we can transport Technical Content objects to Prodcution in comparison to manual capturing of relevant objects, if we go by conventional way?
As said, BI Statistics objects are similar to BI objects in nature hence we need to transport in conventional way.

View State Best Practice for Hiding Components?

When changing states and hiding components, what is the best practice?
Set Height/Width=0?
Set Visible/IncludeInLayout=False?
Or is there a better way?

Good point. That's what I thought but I'm working through 'Adobe Flex 3 Training from the Source' and they explicitly set width/height to 0 in the new state so I thought I was not doing it correctly.

Multiple view state best practice for IOS packaged app - Tabbed view or blank template?

I have an iPad app that has a fairly complex main view. Has lots of view state changes. Before a user can get to that main view, however, they have to go through two other screens:
1. Authentication
2. Fill out and submit a small form (maybe 6 fields)
If they do those two things right, they can move on to the main view. If they don't, they can't move on and the main view shouldn't load.
Don't want a tab bar showing in the main view. Has to be full screen.
My thoughts were:
1. Start with the tabbed view template because it's built for this. Just figure out a way to hide bars top and bottom for main view.
2. Use a blank template and do everything with standarf Flex view states
Not sure...

Or you can go with door #3, a blank template with a ViewNavigator you use to push and pop your views from the Main.
View states are heavy. Avoid them like the plague in mobile apps. They are ok for small things like buttons and such, but that's about it.

Install The ERP SAP Best Practices Baseline Package (VE)

We would like to install The ERP SAP Best Practices Baseline Package (VE)
And reviewing the Quick Guide to Installing the SAP Best Practices Baseline Package (VE), included in the SAP NOTE 1171816, in the list of components installed we need SAP ERP 6.0 with EhP3 with support package stack 1, but we received the installation disc of the Ehp4, and this version is not supported for the Baseline Package (VE).
We are unable to find the installation the disc, or the media list for this solution (SAP ECC 6.0 EhP3).
Can somebody tell me where can i find this?
The information in the service.sap.com/instguides is about installing EhP4.
We are using Windows 2008 EE with MS-SQL 2005.

I hava setup MOPZ, and uploaded the correct packages to the SAINT transaction, but it gives me a warning, i need to include the following files to my upgrade queue:
EA-APPL, 603       SAPK-603DHINEAAPPL   (SP Level: 0001)
FINBASIS, 603      SAPK-60301INFINBASIS (SP Level: 0001)
EA-PS, 603           SAPK-603DHINEAPS     (SP Level: 0001)
SEM-BW, 603        SAPK-60301INSEMBW    (SP Level: 0001)
I downloaded the packagesfrom SWDC but still is missing EA-PS, 603 SAPK-603DHINEAPS the file i downloaded was CSN0120061532_0028760.PAT
In the SAP Note 1083533
"If you receive the warning stating that additional Support
Packages (level 0001) must be included in the installation of
Enhancement Package 3, check the Support Package level of the
relevant component. You can ignore the warning in the following
cases:
All components (Release 600) except EA-HR 600: Support Package
level 0011
EA-HR 600: Support Package level 0026
- Note the following: In the case of a higher Support Package
level (at least Support Package level 0012 or Support Package

My SP level is 11 for all components and EA-HR is lvl 22, should i ignore this?

Best Practice in V7.0 : Issues with Sales Planning and Reporting

I am trying to install the SAP Best Practices for BPC 5.1 on SAP PBC 7.0 SP 04 I have done this as I cannot find any Best Practice documents for version 7 as yet.
I have managed to get through the Administration setup and most of the BPC -Administration Configuration Guide, however I am having a problem with 7.4 Running a Data ManagementPackage - Import on page 32 of 36. This step involves you uploading a data file Demo_Revenue_Data.txt into BPC.
The file says that it has failed due to Ínvalid dimension ACCOUNT in lookup.
I believe that this error may be driven by a previous step 6.4 Creating Script Logic where the logic for BP_Sales Application was required.
My question is twofold in that I need to determine:
1. Has anyone else tried the BestPractices for BPC 5.0 in BPC 7.0?
2. Does anyone know how to overcome the error when uploading the Demo Revenue into BPC?

Hi,
BPC best practices document from 5 is working fine also for 7.0 because 7.0 is just an update for 5.x.
Running Import involve logic just if you are running the package with option enabled (Run Default Logic).
Your issue seems to be related to maping which means you have to check Transformation and Conversion file.
Any way the best practices document will not provide you information about how to build Transformation and Conversion files.
You have to follow an SAP BPC training and that it will help you to build your applicatioon easier and faster.

I jst want to say a client to install the BI Best Practice(Scenario - SCM), inorder to do that i need to present him the advantages and difference between Best practice (SPECIFIC FOR BI) over General Implementation.
When i search in Help.sap.com, it generally speaks about the time consumption n guidelines of Overall SAP Best Practices.
Can anyone help me wrt to BI (From Blue Print to Go Live), Time line diferrences between SAP BI Best Practice and General Implementation.
An Example with Specific Scenario Like SCM, Taking a Cube for IM and describing the Start to End Implemenation process and its timeline. How the same differs, when we go by using a SAP BI Best Practice installation?
Please provide your Valuable suggesstions, as i dont hav any Implementation experience.

Long running jod in SAP BI best practice installation..................

Im installing the SAP Best practice for Financials. The job "Activating Business Content: InfoObject Catalogs" is running for a long time (Nearly 2 hrs).
Reference: B03 - General Settings for BI Integration.
Can anyone tell me how long this job will run?

No, you need to need to activate in all clients. Just activate this in one client and create another clietns with copy from this client.

BASELINE PACKAGE - V1-V2.603 and Best Practices for Pharmaceuticals

                Thanks very much for your response.
The major problem that i am having is I some how did not include the BBPCRM software component or the related software components for CRM at the time of upgrade is my best guess.
So, the latest add ons BP-CRM60 600V3 and BP-CRM70 700V1 or the add ons BP-ERP05 600VD/ 603V7 along with that BP-INSTASS 600V7 are not able to install because the prerequisite are not meeting. Only BP-INSTASS 600V1 got installed.
Can any one tell me how and what to do now.... plzzz???
Things like how to get the CRM related s/w components installed or if there is a work around to get the Baseline Packages (IN) activated with out the CRM.

Best Practices Installation Problem

Hi I am trying to install the sap best practices package V1-4.6000 (LATAM)
I run the transaction code /n/smb/bbi, later I import the layer 0
building blocks and try to activate the building blogs.
When I try to activate the B32 (MX) Building block, an error occurs, the message is the following.
"Activation finished with errors"
When i check the Pre-requisites the component
/SMB99/CHECK_O010_B32 (check operating concern) is not activated.
Could you help me with this issue?

In the Best Practices CD, there are a Folder named DOCU in this folder exists an Add-on Installation Guide.
Overview of the installation
1) You need to install the Best Practices Installation Assistant, this add-on is in 600\BPINSTAS\DATA folder
2) You need to install the Best Practices Add-On, this add-on is in 600\ERP\DATA
3) Follow the installation guide based in your country, for example for me, I followed the word file name BL_Quick_Guide_EN_MX.doc, this file is in the folder 50085672\BL_Mexico\documentation

How to load best practices data into CRM4.0 installation

We have successfully installed CRM4.0 on a lab system and now would like to install the CRM best practice data into it.
If I refer to the CRM BP help site http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv340/CRM_DE/index.htm,
It looks like I need to install at least the following In order to run it properly.
C73: CRM Essential Information
B01: CRM Generation
C71: CRM Connectivity
B09: CRM Replication
C10: CRM Master Data
B08: CRM Cross-Topic Functions
I am not sure where to start and where to end. At the minimum level I need the CRM Sales to start with.
Do we have just one installation CDs or a number of those, Also are those available in the download area of the service.sap.com?

<b>Ofcourse</b> you need to install Best Practices Configuration, or do your own config.
Simply installing CRM 4.0 from the distibutiond CD\DVD will get you a plain vanilla CRM system with no configuration and obviously no data. The Best Practices guide you trhough the process of configuring CRM, and even has automated some tasks. If you use some of the CATT processes of the Best Practices you can even populate data in your new system (BP data, or replace the input files with your own data)
In 12 years of SAP consulting, I have NEVER come across a situation whereby you simply install SAP from the distribution media, and can start using it without ANY configuration.
My advise is to work throught the base configuration modules first, either by importing the BP config/data or following the manual instruction to create the config/data yourself. Next, look at what your usage of CRM is going to be, for example Internet Sales, Service Management, et cetera, and then install the config for this/these modules.

Best practices for installing Win 10 under Hyper-V on Server 2012R2 host

Yeah, yeah, I know I could probably get my answers after spending 10 hours reading hundreds of isolated threads here. I've already put in about 2 hours, and I'm exhausted. Plus, this site does not have a very sophisticated search function.
I want to install Win10 as a VM on my Server 2012R2 machine. I am not currently hosting any other VMs, so my first decision was whether to try it using Hyper-V or VirtualBox. I started with VirtualBox, but I ran into two problems: networking
and video. Also, VirtualBox itself seems to have some issues with failing to install the extension pack. So now I think I'll give Hyper-V a shot.
I found some blog posts from last year providing guidance on setting up Hyper-V for Win10, but given the rate of change of this beta OS, I expect there are many new "features" that can be mitigated against by specific settings on the VM.
Some specific questions:
1. Generation 1 or Generation 2 in the Hyper-V setup? The blogs I've seen say to use Gen1, but provide no justification. Perhaps because they are using Win8 as the host? I am using 2012R2.
2. Does the Win10 ISO file need to be continually available to the VM, or is it only used in the initial installation?
3. How do I get the VM to access the GPU card, which has lots of memory, over the useless onboard video chip which only has 8MB and no 3D instruction set? This was a dealbreaker with VirtualBox.
4. I anticipate many issues with networking, but I'll start with this: I have dual onboard NICs going into a managed switch. Should I just give one physical NIC to the VM and let the host have the other? I think I'm going to have some issues
with DHCP IP address assignment, but we'll see. Any best practices here would be helpful.

That's what I would do (assigning one NIC to the VM, and one the host). If
both are receiving an IP address right now from DHCP, they will continue to
do so the new way unless you have a managed switch that would prevent more
IP addresses. It's hard to tell...
