Installing Cold Fusion MX Developer on XP Pro
My Cold Fusion developer version that came with Studio MX
(original MX) is not installing correctly and/or my CF
administrator pages doesn't open, giveng me the following stack
error. Would it just be easier to download a fresh developer
version from the trial site or is there something else I need to
do?? My new computer is WinXP Pro, sp2 etc....

I believe your MX Studio came with a developer edition of
CFMX 6.0. There are now several newer editions. Each is greatly
improved over the original CFMX (over 5 years old now). I would
recommend you uninstall CFMX6 and install the latest CFMX 7.02 at:
http://www.adobe.com/go/trycoldfusion
or at least install CFMX 6.1 updater 1. Both are available at the
same URL. The bottom dropdown is for CFMX 6.1. Each of the CFMX
installers allows you to choose between a trial version (enterprise
for 30 days, then developer) or a licensed version if you have a
license. The original CFMX 6.0 is not a good option at this point
in time.

I googled the error with no relevant results, then I searched the forum to make sure it wasn't solved with no relevant results returned for the search term "makepkg: invalid option '--asroot')". It's ironic that you accused me of not searching when you haven't bothered to search the error message yourself. If you had you would know the search does not return useful results until this post.
Sorry, I only searched for --asroot which brought up several relevant threads.
No big deal, but in general you shouldn't post things like "search the forum" as it's rarely helpful, and when it is the thread should probably be closed it those cases anyways... -
Xp pro config question with cold fusion(newbie)
Hello,
I'm a beginner and I want to learn studio mx 2004.In trying
to learn Macromedia MX for windows ,I've gone thru the installation
process in the manual for installing Cold Fusion for the server
side of things.My question is, I'm not sure if IIS is mnadatory in
order to use cold fusion.Is it a case of using one or the other or
is the IIS service required to run Cold Fusion? Also im using cold
fusion5 is cold fusion mx = to cold fusion 6.1?Thanks for answering. Is there any benefits to running both
servers? I
don't want to confuse myself with too many
options.Essentially,I could
learn Dreamweaver (my ultimate goal) by using either
installation.
No, while it is possible to run multiple versions of CF, it
takes extra
configurations to do so. I would say this is unnecessary for
just
learning. I would strongly suggest upgrading. CF 5 is the
oldest and
most limited version of CF still officially supported by
Adobe. The
latest version is 7.0.2. There is a huge, major, complete
rewrite of CF
and many other bug fixes and enhancements between CF 5.x and
the current
version.
The current version and all versions of CF are free for
download from
Adobe for a personal development copy. If you do so now,
before you
start writing code, the upgrade install IIRC is quite
painless and will
use the configurations you have already chosen. -
Cold Fusion Developer on Intel Mac
I just ordered an Intel Mac....will I be able to install cold
fusion on it for development?
I saw the system requirements posted on the site were for
Power PC processors. So I was just curious if anyone has
successfully used cf with Intel yet; without problems.
Thanks,Many of us have this running on Intel just fine.
Heres probably the two best links out there to get it
working..

is There a way to install cold fusion on vista RC1
Vista is not on the list of currently supported Operating
Systems for ColdFusion MX and ColdFusion MX has not been tested on
it. It is targeted to be supported in the next release (ColdFusion

I have site on a Cold Fusion MX Version: 6,1,0,hf45343_611
running on A Windows 2000 server and IIS5 using a Microsoft SQL
2000 Cluster in the backend. When ever the cluster fails over the
websites fail. I then have to restart the 3 Cold Fusion Services
and do an IIS reset. Is there a setting that I can use to avoid
having to reset the services on the webserver?Hi Upen,
Thanks for your response. It is a 64 bit machine and the setup is also 64 bit.
I would like to mention some points related to my deployment scenario:
We have a Windows server 2008 R2 Standard edition on Server machine.
I have a .net website appliaction deployed and running on this.
One of our third party vendor is developing Cold fusion application.
This Cold fusion application will be integrated in our .net website.
Deployment and configuration of Cold Fusion application and server wil be done by Third Party vendor.
I need to install Cold fusion and give access to Third party.
Issue when I install cold Fusion using default settings, my .net Website does not get loaded.
In Mozila and Chrome Browser I get blank Page with only Background image given in Body tab of page is getting displayed.
In IE Browser Page with background image given in Body tab of plus this text ' <script> src="" 'is getting displayed.

I am having a 64 bit machine on which windows server 2008 R2 is installed. IIS 7.0 is configured and running on it. on which I have my organisations main website. I have to install Cold fusion on this machine as some of my site pages are designed with CF.
I used all the default settings for installing cold fusion 9. It got completed succefully. But after I restarted my system and tried accesing my ASP.net website it was not loading the page. Text getting displayed was only as follows '<script> src="'. Later I unsistalled CF and my site was working fine.
Please can any one guide me to successfully install Cold fusion without disturbing my main site deployed on IIS ?Sarfarajms, I don't recognize what about the CF install would conflict with ASP.NET, but I'll note this:
If you downloaded CF 9 recently, you are still running 9.0--which does NOT formally support IIS 7. If you followed the steps about enabling IIS 6 compatibility and such (in the install guide or some blog entry), perhaps that caused the conflict.
Instead, you will want to install 9.0.1 (CF 9 Updater 1, which is NOT provided in the current 9.0 install). THAT is the first release to formally support IIS 7. And if you read the updater installation guide (http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/coldfusion/901/cf901install.pdf), it discusses how to deal with the upgrade depending on what you had done with respect to IIS, starting at the bottom of its page 8.
Hope that helps.

Updater 2 and Dreamweaver's Cold Fusion development server
Hello,
I am in the process of developing a Cold Fusion Web
application for my university dean's office using...
<cfobject type="COM" action="create" name="Chart"
Class="Corda.Embedder">
...and I am receiving this error message...
An exception occurred when instantiating a Com object.
...the Corda documentation states the following, and I agree
with them that this is what I am experiencing and need to do...
COM Corda Embedder (Windows)
If you are using ColdFusion MX on Windows, be sure you have
updated your server to the latest version using the ColdFusion MX
Updater Release 1. This is available at
http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/releasenotes/mx/releasenotes_mx_updater.html.
You will need to apply this update to fix a bug in ColdFusion MX
that prevents it from accessing Window’s Component Object
Model (COM).
Other than that, you don’t need to do anything. The COM
version of the Corda Embedder is installed automatically for you.
...I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 SP2, and the
Cold Fusion Developer Server THAT COMES WITH Dreamweaver 8.0. The
Cold Fusion server is an established server running several CF
applications. The Corda product is also known to be running fine,
as I am able to view my current projects in a browser.
Server Details
Server Product ColdFusion MX
Version 7,0,0,91690
Edition Developer
Serial Number Developer
Operating System Windows XP
OS Version 5.1
1) Am I missing something with instantiating the COM object?
2) How can I tell if I need the Cold Fusion updater?
3) Which updater version do I download (1 or 2) and for which
server (MX, MX7, Special Dreamweaver version)?
4) Where do I install the updater - since I am running the
Cold Fusion Developer Server that comes with Dreamweaver, it is not
located in the default C:\CFusionMX7 directory?
Thank You Very Much For Your Time,
Nathan
Technology Support Analyst, Sr.2) How can I tell if I need the Cold Fusion updater?
Version 7,0,0,91690
You are on Version 7MX, no updater. After the update you will
have a
version something like this.
Version 7,0,1,xxxx OR Version 7,0,2,xxxx
3) Which updater version do I download (1 or 2) and for which
server
(MX, MX7, Special Dreamweaver version)?
You need to download and install at least updater 1 for MX 7
per the COM
instructions, updater 2 (which by default includes updater 1
IIRC) could
be even better, but has a small chance of doing something you
don't want
it to. One would have to read all the tech notes and make a
decision.
There is no "Special Dreamweaver" version, it is just the
standard Free
Development version anybody can download and install. "Serial
Number
Developer" And to turn this into a professional version all
one has to
do is purchase a license number an enter it into the
administration
panel. This converts a developer CF server to a Production CF
server
with no other downloading or installing necessary.
4) Where do I install the updater - since I am running the
Cold Fusion
Developer Server that comes with Dreamweaver, it is not
located in the
default C:\CFusionMX7 directory?
Most likely the installer will figure that out. If it does
not, just
provide the directory/file path to where your CF is installed
when asked.

What can be done when Cold Fusion 9 ODBC Services will not install?
What can be done when 64-bit Cold Fusion 9 ODBC Service will not install on a Windows Server 2008-R2 64-bit machine? Yes, most of the things in other discussions have been tried.
Hi GDMVU,
Save the below code as CF9_RemoveOdbc.cfm
<cfscript>
//login using admin
//createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.administrator").login("administrator_password" );
createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.administrator").login("admin");
//instantiate datasource object
myObj = createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.datasource");
</cfscript>
<cfscript>
writeOutput("Removing ODBC Services...<br>");
returnValue = myObj.removeODBCservice();
writeOutput("ODBC Services removed");
</cfscript>
Save the below code as CF9_InstallOdbc.cfm
<cfscript>
//login using admin
//createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.administrator").login("administrator_password" );
createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.administrator").login("admin");
//instantiate datasource object
myObj = createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.datasource");
</cfscript>
<cfscript>
writeOutput("Installing ODBC Services...<br>");
returnValue = myObj.installODBCservice();
writeOutput("ODBC Services installed");
</cfscript>
Now try the following steps:-
Change admin password in above .cfm pages for your CF 9 server.
Use RemoveObdc cfm page first to remove any existing faulty/corrupted Odbc services.
Use InstallOdbc Odbc services to install Odbc services there.
Hope this helps.

Can be Cold Fusion Developer Edition used to develop the product and deliver to client?
Can be Cold Fusion Developer Edition used to develop the product and deliver to client?
The two IP limit not withstanding, the EULA for ColdFusion prevents you from legally using Developer Edition in any production environment. Using it for development is fine, though.

Install K2 Verity Search on Cold Fusion Mx7
Does anyone have any documentation, a KB article, or
experience installing and configuring the K2 Verity Search Server
on Cold Fusion MX 7?
We have Cold Fusion running but it doesn't look like any of
the Verity services are installed. I've found KB articles related
to K2 Verity on version 5, but not for verion 7.We already have Cold Fusion installed, but somehow the Verity
Search Server was never installed as part of the normal install
process.
Quote from doc:
Installing the Verity search server separately
By default, the installer installs the Verity search server on
the same computer as
ColdFusion MX 7. To enable searches using Verity, if you
want to install the Verity search server
on a different computer from the one where you install
ColdFusion MX 7, you must install the
Verity search server separately. For more information, see
“Installing the Verity search server
So I guess what you're saying is to download the packages and
install Verity? -
Cold Fusion / developer edition
hey guys
sorry to ask you this but it has been hanging over my head
for a long period of time.
I have been unable to get my mind around the concept of "the
developer edition of Cold Fusion". from what i have learnt , i can
use it locally only. Does that mean that i wont be able to transfer
my cold fusion files onto a webhosting that supports ColdFusion??
Am i expected to present "my license to ColdFusion" to my web
provider every time I upload a website onto a webhosting?
Please someone explain to me what happens when i upload my
coldfusion-based website onto a webhosting. Will it stop working or
will my code get corrupted??
Cheers
MarosHi Maros
There are a few of things you will need to be aware of when
you move to the
server. First, be sure the mapping on the server is the same
as it is
locally, this especially concerns CFCs. In Dreamweaver if you
drag a CFC
function onto a page Dreamweaver will map the dot path to the
CFC including
the folder your site is in within the ColdFusion8\wwwroot
folder, naturally
this folder doesn't exist on your server since the entire
site is directly
in your root folder. Be sure to address this before going
live.
Also, make sure you move your database to the server and set
up the DSN,
using the exact same DSN name you used locally.
Finally, make sure your host supports the same version of CF
as you have
locally as well as the database if you are using MySQL or SQL
Server. If you
are using Access, be sure your host server is a Windows
sever.
Doing this should make for a smooth transition.

Install Fusion Drive in a MacBook Pro 13" (Late 2011)
Bonjour, j'aurais aimé savoir s'il existait une manipulation pour mettre Fusion Drive dans un MacBook Pro 2011 ?

Hello, would I have liked to know if there was ahandling to put Fusion Drive in a MacBook Pro 2011 ?
Did I already replace SuperDrive by a SSD 256Go, but will I like to announce if one can create abridge between the HDD and the SSD?It's not a supported configuration. If you're an advanced user, you may be able to do it by following instructions such as these:

Skip step 8.
However, some people have reported problems doing this. You'll be on your own if that happens. Make plenty of backups and be prepared to restore from any of them.
