Installing CS4 on Windows 8

My other laptop died the other day. I bought a new one with windows 8. Specs:
Product name:HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC
Keyboard revision:73.26
Total memory:6.00 GB
Processor name:AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics
I am trying my darnedest to get CS4 installed, and I can't manage it. I have my disks and every time I try to install, it freezes at the cmaps or something called csi. I try uninstalling, and it has problems(won't unintstall). So I've been running the adobe cc cleaner tool. The last time I tried running it, I got the following error message:

It has been two days of trying to figure this out. Lots of reboots. I even downloaded the installer files on the website, but it gets stuck at "checking system profiles" right off the bat and doesn't go further. It threw an error that it couldn't find source content.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

A.s.estelle are you able to locate any specific errors within the installation log files? You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4.

Trouble installing CS4 in Windows 7 64-bit

Has anybody else had trouble installing CS4 into Windows 7 Pro 64-bit? I had this suite installed in XP (32-bit) and it worked just fine, but it will not install on my new computer. The first time I tried, it got partway in (past the serial number), and then everything locked up. I had to restart the machine twice just to make it let go of the CD!
Someone on a forum suggested copying the disks to the hard drive and installing from there, but this did not work any better, the installation simply fails immediately, and I get an error code 1605. I tried it with the firewall off, and with anti-virus disabled, and I never leave User Account Control enabled. What is going on?

Installing cs4 in Windows 7 Virtual machine

Hello,
I am having problems with AE and windows 7 64 bit. Ram preview isn't working / crashing AE I wanted to do a clean install on XP using Windows virtual machine. I unserstand it sounds stupid, but all I am trying to do is sync some effects to a soundtrack and it's not working and I am on a deadline.
Has anyone installed these, I get an install error, Contact Adobe Support. not very helpful.

Yeah, but what do you expect? It's weekend and your scenario really isn't something people do every day. I would even guess that it's more of an issue with memory and keyboard handling settings in the VM rather than a flaw in the Adobe program. In any case, what's so bad about just installing CS4 in W7 itself or installing the CS5 trial? If you're on a deadline, it's certainly better to have some way of working and worrying about any side effects later than waiting for a solution to fall out of the sky...

Error 1603 when installing CS4 on Windows 8.1

Good day
I'm trying to install CS4 Design Premium on Windows 8.1 64bit machine. A previous install has failed and I uninstalled it using Windows and AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe
A couple seconds into the installation (after actually starting the install) the following error appears:
"Adobe Color JA Extra Settings CS4
Fehler: Error 1603. Schwerwiegender Fehler bei der Installation."
Any help is appreciated!

you can uninstall any cs4 program that is installed.
clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6)
and retry installing.
if you again see a 1603 error, check your install logs for more specific info - Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4

2 errors when trying to install cs4 on windows 7 ultimate x64

I downloaded the trial version of PS cs4 to try out on my new laptop. Its a clean install of windows 7 ultimate x64. I gets maybe 10% into the install and i keep getting these errors...

If somebody could shed some light on what i can do to make this work that would be great. Ive tried redownloading the installer probably 4 or 5 times now. Ive tried running in compatability mode and ive made sure its being ran as an administrator.

Some of CS4 might be installed so you will need to run the clean script.

Just install photoshop and bridge only. You can install the other stuff later on (not need to run bridge nor PS anyways)
Do the install only on C drive too.

Error when installing CS4 on windows

I had a total hard drive failure. Afer replacing my HD I downloaded my apps and am now trying to reinstall.
Everytime I try to install, the installation program crashes halfway through and thenshuts down.

Amats123 I would recommend starting with the Adobe Support Advisor. It will review your installation logs and attempt to locate possible solutions based off your installation log.

You can try adjusting the permissions on the two folders I referenced earlier. It is difficult to tell at this point if the database itself is corrupted or you are facing a permission issue. In order to remain "legal" you must be the primary user of both machines and not use both at the same time.

Installing CS4 on Windows 7

Installing the CS4 Suite on Windows 7 I found that the language selection starts grayed out and cannot be modified. I ran the setup.exe as an Admin (Run as Administrator) but still no luck. I found that if I copied the first disk to the hard drive and removed all the languages I didn't want from the "deployment" and "extensions" folders, the installer had no choice to but to choose the language I wanted. Otherwise the installation went smoothly. Which is good cause none of my coworkers can read German!

As one of my many efforts to do a work-around, I tried to install just Illustrator using English-GB... but when I went to run thr program, I was asked for my serial number, and it didn't accept the one I have which I assume means my install is only for English-US

Installing Photoshop CS4 on Windows 8.1 - Screen Prompts are Invisible

When trying to install CS4 on Windows 8.1, I cannot read the setup screens, as it seems many elements of the screen are either the same color as the background or invisible. This makes it impossible to install the product on my installation of Windows.

Creative Suite serial numbers have always been platform specific: Windows only or Mac only.
The only time you get to choose is at the point of sale.
After that swapping to another operating system requires a platform transfer process but that is only available for the current version (CS6)

In short, you're unfortunately stuck with CS4 for Windows.
Your options now are either to buy CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud. Or run Windows on your Mac via Parallels or Bootcamp or similar and install CS4 for Windows in that environment.
One of the features of Cloud software is that it can be used interchangeably on Mac and/or Windows at any time without any platform swapping processes or paperwork.

CS4 and Windows 8 compatibility

Has anyone successfully installed CS4 on Windows 8? I am currently using Windows XP and received a pop up saying Microsoft are no longer releasing updates for XP after August and I am entitled to a free download of Windows 8. I am trying to decide whether to do this but risk losing my use of CS4 which I really don't want to do. Any advice much appreciated as not sure whether to just continue with XP. Thanks in advance.

If you search Google using the terms "CS4 and Windows 8 compatibility" you can probably find various results from both Adobe and Microsoft that should give you some idea of how much of a gamble you might face in changing your OS.
In my own experience, a change in OS has yet to be a positive experience... while most people loved XP in its day, I suffered years of poor performance with it as an upgrade from the moment it was installed and regretted doing it. Maybe you've had better experience and aren't as shy of it as I am.
