  • Installing JDK-1.4.2_05 on SOLARIS 8: `(' unexpected

    Hello,
I have problems installing JDK-1.4.2_05 on two SOLARIS 8 boxes.
The error occurs right at the beginning of the installation.
I start the installation as follows:
    -rwxr--r-- 1 sw staff 35253366 Sep 21 13:51
    j2sdk-1_4_2_05-solaris-i586.sh
    [root@sokrates /home/sw/BVB-3-Stuff/Jdk-1.4]# cd /usr
    [root@sokrates /usr]#
    /home/sw/BVB-3-Stuff/Jdk-1.4/j2sdk-1_4_2_05-solaris-i586.sh
    The error is as follows:
    Unpacking...
    Checksumming...
    0
    0
    Extracting...
./install.sfx.825: syntax error at line 1: `(' unexpected
    Done.
The error is the same on both machines.
Both machines run SOLARIS 8 (SUN-OS 5.8) with the latest J2SE recommended
    patches installed.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

This may sound a bit obvious, but are the two machines in question Intel machines? If I try to install this (Intel) package on a SPARC box, I get exactly the same error. Again, sorry if this sounds a bit obvious, but it's just a thought :)

I am trying to install jdk-1_5_0_13 on Solaris 10 using the following downloaded files from Sun Archive site
    jdk-1_5_0_13-solaris-sparc.sh and jdk-1_5_0_13-solaris-sparcv9.sh
When tried to install using these self extracting files
It gives error file is corrupt after accepting the licencing agreement. We have already tried after downloading twice and it give the same error.
    Please could someone explain
    1. Is the set files at the site really corrupt ?
    2. Or is there something else, like instructions given at the site are not 100%
    3. How to make it work?
Has any one installed jdk_1.5.0_13 recently on Sun Solaris using self extracting files and it worked?
Your help will be higly appreciated.

First make sure that you are logged in as "root", or use su [root password] to be logged in as.
And then try all that things again.

  • Where to obtain Update 3 for Solaris 10 x86

    Hello all,
For some reason my smpatch is broken and won't download patches. I need to locate Update 3 for Solaris 10 x86 but with all the new changes to the website I'm completely lost and can't seem to find the download link.
    Can anyone help out?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi
google "download solaris", first hit, at the bottom of the page "Looking for prior versions of Oracle Solaris?"
    Here it says
"Note 1: Previous versions of Solaris 10 are no longer necessary as the latest release includes support for all Solaris 10 supported platforms and includes important enhancements not found in earlier releases."
and "Solaris 10 10/08" (aka Update 6) is the oldest available.
Note that you now need a support contract to access all patches except for patches to the "Oracle Solaris" compiler (if installed) and to the patch system.

FAST ESP 5.3 - is the FAST Search API of ESP 5.3 compatable with OS: Red Hat 5.1 & JDK: 1.6 Update 81 ?

Per ESP SP 5 release , below OS are supported which should be compatible with API:
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 5.8, 32-bit (and all 5.x minor versions below)
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 5.8, 64-bit (and all 5.x minor versions below)
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 6.3, 32-bit (and all 6.x minor versions below)
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 6.3, 64-bit (and all 6.x minor versions below)
     SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, 64-bit
The latest JDK i have seen working on a customer install is  jdk1.6.0_45.
Probably you can try update 81 and see if you run into any issues.

  • Problem in installing JDK 5.0

    Hi,
In order to install ORacle SQL Developer for linux, I tried to install JDK 5.0 according to the instruction. I downloaded the files and installed it. But when running the sqldeveloper, I got the error message:
Error: This product requires a Java(TM) Platform 5.0 runtime.
You are using 1.4.2 from /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.4.2-gcj-1.4.2.0/jre
sqldeveloper installation instruction suggests to go to this page:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp
and download JDK 5.0 Update 6. Since this website doesn't have 6, so I downloaded JDK 5.0 Update 10.
How do I make sure JDK 1.5 is installed?

Sorry for delay but I was temporary away without
    internet connectivity ;-(
That commad will print "/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_10" and
    redirect this text (output) to
/home/cdre/.sqldeveloper_jdk file. If the file is
exists then contents of file will be replaced by new
text. If the file does not exeist then will be
    created.
But there is another problem. Seems you are using
SQLDeveloper 1.1 and (where some things were changed
from 1.0) and this command is valid for 1.0.No problem. I have learned a lot about shell scripting recently.

  • Installing JDK 5.0 in MAC

Hi, im trying to install jdk 5 in my mac. i downloaded the file and everything, i supposely installed it, even open the unzip the src file, but when i go to my terminal to check my java version, still tells me 1.4... im probably installing it wrong, or maybe i have to put it in some path. please help. thanks

If you are working with a version of the Mac that is prior to X, you will be restricted to 1.1 or possibly 1.2 (can't remember) of the JRE and JDK..
So I'm assuming you are working with Mac OS X...
Apple provides it's own implementation of the JRE and JDK for Mac OS X. Currently, the highest available version of Java for the Mac X is 1.4.2
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/java/
When Java 5 becomes available you will most likely want to obtain it via Software Updates.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/softwareupdates.html
Here is an article on the Sun site about development for Mac OS X

  • Error installing jdk-1_5_0-windows-i586.exe

During second phase of the install process, I get this error message: "Error 1311.Source file not found: C:\Program Files\Common Files \Java\Update\Base Images\jdk1.5.0.b64\patch-jdk1.5.0b64\jo150000.cab. Verify that the files exists and that you can access it." After clicking Cancel, OK, and Finish, the installer indicates that the JDK was successfull installed. However, the public JRE was not installed. I have uninstalled the JDK and attempted to repeat the install several times with the same results..
I' m installing on Windows-XP Home Edition. I have previously installed the second beta and followed the instrustions to unstalling it before installing the release version.
    I also have 1.4.0 and 1.4.2.02 installed.
    Help

I am receiving a similiar error message:
Error 1311. Source file not found: c:\Documents and Settings\tee3\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\58W7LIST\Down[1].htm. Verify that files exist and that you can access it.
This is strange because I have installed jdk 1. 5.0 before and I did not get this error. I needed to re-install the jdk1.5.0 in a different directory. Thats why I am re-installing it. I first un-installed it and then tried to re-install it. Thats when I get the error message above.
does anyone have a fix for this.

  • Install java2 sdk1.4.0 (beta2) on solaris 7

I installed the j2sdk1.4.0 on solaris. After setting the path and classpath, when I do "javac", I got the following error message:

Does anyone know why I got the error message? How could I solve this problem? This is my first install jdk on solaris and cannot find solutions from install instruction.
    Any help are really appreciated.

    K -
I had the same exact problem (with that cryptic __1cG__CrunSregister_exit_code6FpG_v_v_ message) on the same version of Solaris (7). I finally solved the problem (after hours of troubleshooting, and reading this message board ). You need to go to the following Sun web site and download the patches for Solaris 7 (about 52.3mb), but it fixes the problem.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Sun Cluster 3.0 update 1 on Solaris 8 - panics!

I am building a test system in our lab on admittedly unsupported hardware configurations but the failure wasn't expected to be so dramatic. Setup as follows:
    2x E250 (single processor, 512 MB RAM)
dual connected to D1000 fully populated 18 Gb HDD
Solaris 8 6/00 with all latest recommended patches
Sun Cluster 3.0 update 1 installed with latest patches.
On first reboot (on either node), the kernel panics with the following:
    panic[cpu0]/thread=3000132c320: segkp_fault: accessing redzone
This happens straight after the system sets up the network and happens like that everytime and is easily reproduceable. My question is, has anyone successfully used SC3.0 update 1 on Solaris 8 6/00? Any information would be most appreciated.
    -chris.

We have the same problem with 2 SUN E420 and a D1000 storage array.
The problem is releted to the settings on the file :
    /etc/system
added by the cluster installation :
    set rpcmod:svc_default_stksize=0x4000
    set ge:ge_intr_mode=0x833
the second one line try to set a Gigabit Ethernet Interface that does not exist.
We comment out the two line and every things work fine.
I'm interesting to know what you think about Sun Cluster 3.0. and your experience.

  • Javac not a recognizable command on my computer after i installed JDK SE6

I am trying to compile my java code so that i can execude it but my computer is telling me that this is not a recognizable command even after ive installed JDK SE6. any ideas?

You need to update your Java registry variable.
    Go to start> control panel> system> advanced> environment variables>
Now find the variable called "Path". Click "edit", and after everything else already there, put a semicolon if there isn't one, and the following:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_03\bin
The _03 is for update 3, if you have a newer one, put 04 or whatever it is now.
DO NOT DELETE WHAT IS ALREADY IN THE EDIT BOX!
If you delete all of the other things, it will really mess your computer up. This is a vary sensitive process, so be careful.

  • Installing jdk on obsolete sys

Been triing to install JDK on an NT4 windows confab I get inadequate JVM exception need advice. Should I try 1) install older NT4 with exploree 4 as the browser 2)different browser 3)try loading .NET framwork and migration suite to accomodate JDK language or 4) install a Lynux system and let things flow,I do have a copy of Debian Lynux(which is just great) ,two BSD platforms, and bad ISO Slacker(total Java but incomplete library or some such thing.?????? Growing tired.

For the JDK you might get better help in the Java developer's forum -- http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=14 -- this is the Java Enterprise System which are server products like the Application Server, Messaging Server, etc.
I don't quite understand what problem you're having, though. A more concrete "I tried this and this happened" might help when you re-ask. I sure don't see how swapping browsers or installing any .NET stuff would help, and if you're going to go installing new operating systems you might as well go ahead and install Solaris 10 which has the JDK built in. (Lots of the Linux distributions are going to start doing this soon, but I don't know of any which are already there.)
