Installing Multimedia.api for Reader X

I just downloaded Reader X from 9 and now there is no plugin for mutimedia.api.  How do I get this plug in?  Thanks Robert

Legacy multimedia (sound and video not created using the Acrobat 9 or Acrobat X Flash-based tools) is potentially dangerous as it can be used to deploy malware. Legacy playback features are no longer trusted by default, so the plugin is not shown. If you open PDFs that contain  legacy multimedia will see the yellow Document Message Bar promoting you for a change in trust settings, though we advise people not to do so unless they are totally confident in the authenticity of the PDF.

  • Api for reading .cfg files

    Hello everyone,
    Once I saw an api for reading typical .cfg files, in which ## are comments, [xx] are labels... Now I need to use it but I don't remember the api any more.
    Can somebody tell me which class do I have to use?
    Thanks a lot

    Now I need

    There is nothing that I'm aware of in the api that has the same functionality as MFC GetPrivateProfileString(...)
    You could use a properties files like most other people, otherwise you are going to have to implement it yourself.

  • API for reading/updating Lightroom metadata

    I've tried looking for documentation, and I can't find it, so...
    Is there an officially sanctioned mechanism for third party applications to read and edit Lightroom metadata? In particular, the keywords that have been assigned?
    My use case is as follows. I pull photos in to Lightroom, edit, adjust, add metadata, and so on. Then, for some of them, I export them to Flickr, using the Flickr Uploadr tool.
    Sometimes, based on comments on the photos, I may want to edit the metadata. I can do this, but I need to edit it in both places, Lightroom and Flickr.
    Flickr publishes an API for rummaging through photos, extracting metadata, and so on. So what I'd like to do is develop a tool that periodically looks at my photos on Flickr, compares the keywords it finds there with the keywords in Lightroom, and synchronises them. The Flickr side of that is fairly easy, but the Lightroom side doesn't appear to be documented.

    java.util.List values = new List();
    values.add("Asia");
    values.add("America");
    values.add("Muenster, Germany");

  • Alternative APIs for reading Zip files?

    Hi all.
    At the moment, our application handles zip files by copying the zip file to the temp directory and then creating a new ZipFile. However, the larger the zip file we encounter, the slower this copy becomes. We also need random access to the Zip file, so the usual workaround of using ZipInputStream is also slow, although slightly faster for random access than copying the entire file.
    I raised a bug requesting a better constructor for ZipFile, but it was turned down as they seemed to think I didn't want random access.
    But does anyone know of any alternative APIs which can access Zip files in a more random access fashion? I've discovered a few other alternative implementations of ZipFile, but all of them so far have had this issue of requiring a File.

    intensive. I am basically searching through zip
    files to find a file and then taking that inputstream
    for processing. I am basically looping through the
    zip file until i match the filename....pretty crazy.I think it is pretty I/O intensive...hence slower
    to see what I can do to increase performance. I am
    using the following parameters:
    -Xms512m -Xmx1024M -Xss16M -XX:ThreadStackSize=256
    -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
    Parameters look ok. I am not sure what -XX:ThreadStackSize will do as -Xss also sets the stack size? you can also try to pass -server and keep both Xms and Xmx to 1024 and see if it brings any improvement.

  • Why no multimedia.api in 9.0 (for win XP & Vista)

    Could anyone explain why Adobe have not added the multimedia.api in reader 9.0 (for windows XP & Vista)?
    I've just had to revert back to 8.1.2 on several pc / laptops and all works fine.
    It really was a real pain and very time consuming exercise, but I'm bemused as to why the multimedia.api has been omitted from 9.0.
    many thanks
    pjc

    Ok I've just downloaded it again (from Adobe) on my spare laptop running Vista.
    I've checked the plug-ins, info as follows:
    1. There are a number of other plugs NOT loaded these are - Accessibility.api, Public-Key Security PPKLite.api, Adobe DRM eBook.api, Digital Signature DigSig.api, DVA.api, Forms AcroForm.api, Highlight Server HLS.api, Internet Access plug-in IA32.api, MakeAccessible.api, Multimedia.api, PDD.api, checkers.api,ReadOutLoud.api, Reflow.api, SaveAsRRT.api, Search.api, Search5.api, SendMail.api, Spelling.api, Weblink.api,
    2. With reference to Aandi's question, its says:
    FileName Multimedia.api
    Loaded: No - Version 0.0.0/12/07/2008
    Certified: Yes Date 12/6/2008 02:01:00
    Again thank you for your interest in trying to help resolve this, I'm very confused by this, all I'm doing is downloaded the reader from the Adobe web site.
    thanks

  • MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings install issues with Vista

    Hello,
    I recently upgraded my ThinkPad Z60m to Vista by doing a clean install from disk.  Since this process involves manually installing each of the ThinkPad utilities manually (no pre-built image for Vista, only XP), I have ran into some issues with the installer for the MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings.
    According to the Support & Download page, there are two downloads available for the Z60m and both have issues (or errors) that are preventing me from installing the application.  Below are the two products and reasons for not installing:
    "MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000"
    Problem: Does not install on Vista
    Error message: "Could not open \device\physicalmemory"
    "MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows Vista"
    Problem: ThinkPad Z60m is not a supported
    Error message: "This program is not for machine type 2529EAU"
    What I am looking for is an installation of MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings that supports users who have upgraded from XP to Vista (or downgrade depending on your feelings of Vista  ).  I have not found anywhere saying that upgrades from XP to Vista are not supported, so I should expect that software updates should be available for ThinkPad products on either platform.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    I recently did a clean install of Win7 Ult on my X61 7676A24, and this is the only Lenovo software that I could not find a Win 7 solution for. However,
    1. I was able to load WinDVD8 upgrade (from Lenovo's Win7 information page) after first loading the WinDVD5 version that was the last good release for Vista.
    2. The Multimedia Center for Think Offerings is basically Roxio's suite for writing cd/dvd's, drag to disc and so on.
    Since I could not load this anyway, I was forced to try out Win7's inbuilt cd/dvd writing - it works perfectly well.  Even better, Win7 natively supports an excellent ISO burning tool. So, I think if you explore these inbuilt tools, you can probably live without the Mul Cent for Think Off.

  • No multimedia with Acrobat Reader 9

    I have lots of .pdf slideshows (created using Phtoshop Album 2.0), they have embedded mp3 files in them. They played perfectly well with Reader 8.0, however now that I've upgraded to 9.0 they mp3 audio cannot be heard. How do I get the multimedia.api into Reader 9?
    I'm stunned that by simply upgrading to 9.0 I've suddenly lost this functionality. Really would appreciate some help and guidance on this one.
    thanks
    phil

    I just ran into the same problem. I also have several PDF slideshows, but judging from the non response to your post dated July we may be alone in our admiration of this function.
    I downloaded Reader 8.0 for now, but that doesn't help the folks I send the slideshows to who are now running Reader 9.0.
    I downloaded a trial copy of Acrobat 9.0 to see if the PDF slideshow audio function had been moved there, but it also just runs the slides - no audio or video clips.
    Does anyone know if this neat little program still exists somewhere in Adobe?

  • Multimedia Offerings for Think Center on Windows 7

    I am trying to install  Multimedia Offerings for Think Center on my new installation of Windows7 and I'm getting following message:
    This program can only be used with recording hardware that is not attached to this computer
    Any solution?

    mutlitmedia center for think offerings hasn't been updated to work with windows 7 yet.   the latest version i could find online is dated 2006 and is only listed as being compatible with 2000 and XP.   most of the updated apps won't be available until the october 22nd launch of 7.   i don't know if MCTO is covered under the update.
    oddly enough, the version of MCTO i have on my thinkstation works fine under server 2008 R2 (aka: windows 7 server).   you could try installing it, although without a lightscribe burner this version may not install.

  • Most popular api for modifying excel spreadsheets?

    I googled a bit and it seems like POI and jexcel are the most popular ? I'm interested in hearing your opinions... I've tried POI and I find it OK, but I wish I had more features like copying a row and "pasting/inserting" it into another row and copying formulas and having it modified as you "paste" it to another cell.
    edit:
    scratch jexcel off the list... it's not free :(

    hi,
    POI is best
    The most popular API for manipulating Excel files is Apache POI (http://jakarta.apache.org/poi). This is an API for reading office-documents in general. For reading Excel there is the hssf subproject (http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/hssf). They also have a list of alternative projects that can be used for accessing Excel files (http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/hssf/alternatives.html)
    You can also read in the excel file through the jexcel api (http://www.andykhan.com/jexcelapi/)
    once you can read in the entire excel file into java, you can create your own Java object structure and go from there.
