Installing the EM Agent
Hi,
I have a server with a few databases and got an EM Grid Control installed a few months ago. Everything works fine, but now I have another server with also a few databases on it that I want to connect to the current OMS.
I have problems during the installation proces of the EM Agent, actually at the first screen of the installation proces. When I start the Oracle Universal Installer, the installation proces asks for the inventory directory or something like that. (It's the first field on the first form of the installation proces)
The installation proces is expecting the file “products.jar” but I can’t find it in the setup files… Should I be looking on a different location, not in the setup files, maybe in the Oracle Home directory?
You can to make the following
Create another user like oraagent and add to oinstall group
Copy the Inventory directory of the oracle user to the new user. The inventory is located in the home of user and normaly the directory have this name
OraInventory
Execute the runInstaller of agent software with the newuser
Another option is download the agentscript from OMS or deploy and agent installation from OMS. Both methods are executed from GRID CONTROL CONSOLE --> Deployments --> Install Agent

Uninstalling and Installing the OEM Agent w/o OUI
Hi DBAs,
I have a 10.2.0.4 Oracle version on AIX with 2 node RAC Cluster. The old agent is 10.2.0.3 which I need to replace with new 10.2.0.4 agent. In order to install new agent, I need to remove the old version of Agent.
Please guide how can I uninstall the old agent without using Oracle Universal Installer. And also how I can install the new Agent w/o OUI.
Thanks
-Samar-I was able to uninstall the Old Agent using the following command from all of the RAC instances. Can someone help me how can I install the Agent w/o using OUI.
./runInstaller -deinstall -silent "REMOVE_HOMES={/oracle/product/10.2.0/oem_1/agent10g}" -removeallfiles
Thanks

It autodetects OS type and will install Solaris packages or RPMs as appropriate.

How to install the windows7 agent and monitor the same machine
Hi ,
I have installed OMS on Oracle Linux 5.7-64 bit machine. Now I am able monitor the OIM which is installed on Linux. I have some of oracle applications (domains) on windows7 machine. I want monitor the same. On em, agent deployment page I am not able to see the windows agents.
Can you please guide me how to install the agent on windows and monitor the same?
OEM version: 11.1.0.1
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Kishore TummetiIf you just need to install some agents on Windows the best (imho) option is not to use the push option because getting Cygwin to run can take hours (if at all).
Here you find a good instruction how to install the agent by hand: http://www.peasland.net/?p=122
Sometimes the –silent mentioned in step 4b needs not to be put as second argument but as last argument.

Installing the OEM Agent on an AIX Clustered Environment
I have installed the OEM 10.2.0.5 agent on a server (sgramchdd50) that is part of an AIX HACMP cluster configuration. The other node of this cluster is sgramchdd51 and the cluster name is sgramchdd52. After installing the agent the server name sgramchdd50 is hard-coded into the the $AGENT_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties file as follows....
EMD_URL=https://sgramchdd50:3872/emd/main/
The problem is that when we failover to the other node (sgramchdd51) the agent no longer works because the inactive node is hard-coded in certain places. I need to hardcode the cluster name as it is always pointing at the active node in the cluster. I have tried the following (with no success)...
-Stopped the agent
-Modified the EMD_URL parameter of the emd.properties file as follows
-EMD_URL=https://sgramchdd52:3872/emd/main/
-Started the agent
However, starting the agent fails.
sagramihqchdd50<orabss:orurebss> $ ./emctl start agent

Edited by: user11171364 on Jul 15, 2010 7:09 AMI think you should try to find the solution in your DNS.
So lets say you name your node "MyActiveNode", your DNS only need to be modified to point to a different IP when failing over. The for the Agent it is still "logically" running on the same node.
Same thing if you should use a Server Load Balancer, use the name of the SLB to configure the Agent.
OK?

How to deploy the Workspace Agent Services as a Window Service!
Hi all,
does anyone know how to install the Workspace Agent Service back as a Windows Service after i re-installed an reconfigured the workspace completly i do not see the Agent anymore in my Windows Services. I sure would like to avoid to have to uninstall and set it up completely again.
The agent start file is located in common\workspacert\9.5.0.0\bin.
Your help is much appreciated
Cheers
AndréI hit the same problem after reinstalling workspace.
It seems that the config tool does not create the workspace agent service on subsequent configurations.
A quick search of the configtool.log from the original installation/configuration yields the following:
com.hyperion.avalanche.config.CoreService, INFO, Running command: D:\Hyperion\common\workspacert\9.5.0.0\bin\wksagent.exe -RegService -Auto -Name HyS9Core1 -DisplayName Hyperion Workspace - Agent Service -Description HyS9Core1, Provides service infrastructure to run services locally
Dropping the above line at the command prompt fixed the issue for me.
Cheers,
Aaron

The Web Agent for IIS will not work
Environment: NT4 Server, IIS4
I try to install the Web Agent in use with IIS but IIS fails to load the dll. After the installation I can read the event-log :
The HTTP server was unable to load the ISAPI Application 'C:\Oracle\Ora81\ord\web\bin\wsciis81.dll'. The data is the error.
And the Browser gives me:
A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.
What can be wrong?Note: On Windows NT, use \ instead of / to separate file system directory
paths.
1. Check the Web Agent's log file.
Look in <oracle_home>/ord/web/logs for a log file in the form
wsc_<yyyymmdd>_<pid>.log. If the file exists, review it for errors,
then take the necessary action to remedy the problem. Possible
problems that might be logged are non-recoverable errors in the Web
Agent's configuration file <oracle_home>/ord/web/admin/wsc.cfg. If the
configuration file or the <oracle_home>/ord/web directory hierarchy
doesn't exist, then re-do the installation.
2. Check the Web Agent's "last-chance" error log file.
If the <oracle_home>/ord/web/logs directory exists, but there are no
log files, check in the %SystemRoot% directory on Windows NT or the
/tmp directory on Unix for a file named wsclstch.err. This is the Web
Agent's "last-chance" error log file. The Web Agent will try to write
to this file if it encounters a fundamental startup error, such as a
problem initializing CORE or NLS, creating a log file, or opening its
message file. If the file exists, review it for errors, then take the
necessary action to remedy the problem. (In a command window on
Windows NT, type set SystemRoot to find where the wsclstch.err file
would be written.)
3. Check the web server configuration.
If the Web Agent failed to create either its normal log file or its
"last-chance" error log file, verify that the Web Agent has been
configured correctly for the particular web server being used and that
the web server is running.
o Microsoft IIS
Use the Internet Service Manager to verify that IIS has been
configured correctly for the Web Agent. Review the installation
and configuration instructions in the wsciis.html or wsciis.txt
files to verify that the Web Agent has been configured correctly
and to make any changes or fixes necessary. Check that the filter
is up and running and that the virtual path has been configured.
To check the filter, select the web site, then click the
properties button (or right-click the web site icon). Select the
Filters tab. The Web Agent should appear in the list with a green
up-arrow. If it appears with a red down-arrow, check the Windows
NT event log for any errors relating to the Web Agent. IIS
doesn't always write detailed error messages. For example, if a
DLL used by the Web Agent can't be located, then IIS typically
logs the fact that a load error occurred along with the message
"the data was the error". Note that the installation and
configuration instructions describe the case where the filter
must be installed manually if there were no existing filters
registered at the time the Web Agent for IIS was installed.
If the filter looks OK, check the oracle_intermedia_bin virtual
path by clicking the properties button (or right-click the
virtual path icon). The path should reference the
<oracle-home>\ord\web\bin directory, which should contain the
wsciis81.dll file. In the properties window, select the directory
security tab, then click the anonymous access and authentication
control button. Verify that Basic authentication has been checked
and that Windows NT challenge/response has been cleared.
To function correctly, the Oracle8i home must be specified
correctly for IIS. Use the Oracle Home Selector to verify that
the Oracle8i home is specified as the default home. Use the
System Control Panel to verify that the Oracle8i home /bin
directory is specified prior to any other Oracle homes in the
PATH environment variable.

Hi,
your Login Script must be seen like this:
#z:exist c:\programme\novell\zenworks\nalwin32.exe
if "%ERRORLEVEL"="0" THEN GOTO NOTHING
#z:\zfdagent\agent.bat
NOTHING:
END
the agent.bat is a batch File to install the agent in silent mode
it looks like that:
msiexec /i z:\zfdagent\zfdagent.msi /qn ADDLOCAL=ALL EDITABLE_MT_ADDRESS=1
STARTUP_APPWINDOW=1 STARTUP_APPEXPLORER=0 REBOOT=ReallySuppress /l*v %
WINDIR%\zfdagent.log
the z:\zfdagent is a subdirectory in the sys:\system\Public where
zfdagent.msi file exists.
hier is a link to download exist.exe

How to install interMedia web agent
Hi folks,
I downloaded im8154_lnx.zip (interMedia Web Agent 8.1.5.4) for linux
from Oracle. The webserver I am using is Oracle HTTP server.
Before I install the web agent, the HTTP server works fine.
I read the document for installing interMedia web Agent, however,
it is not the case when I tried to install the agent. For example,
the doc asks me to include mod_oraordwscias.conf in the oracle_apache.conf file,
but the mod_oraordwscias.conf file doesn't exist. I only have three
files in the /ord/web/apache/:
mod_oraordwsc.c mod_oraordwsc.h mod_oraordwsc.module
I also don't understand what's the file mod_oraordwsc.module for.
Does anyone know how to make the interMedia Web Agent module works with
Oracle HTTP server? Thank you so much.
Best regards,
Kai HuangHi Kai,
The interMedia Web Agent is not available for the Oracle HTTP
server on Linux, nor are there plans to port it or support it on
any platforms or web server configurations other than those shown
below. For information on alternatives to the Web Agent,
please see the interMedia software page on OTN:
http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/intermedia/software_index.htm
The closest equivalent of the Web Agent is the interMedia Code
Wizard for the PL/SQL Gateway.

We rebooted and can log into Novell client but the login prompt did not appear for ESM client or the icon was not in the systray. Everything seems to work, besides at times (a couple times today) it terminates his ethernet card/connection. I would re-image his computer but he has several applications and it would take several hours, so I am hoping someone has an idea to fix this issue. So I was trying to figure out why he did not get the prompt to login and why it's not in the systray and it appears to not have completed the install? I checked the add/remove programs, its not listed within their, I also checked the registry and found nothing for endpoint within their, but the files are within c:\program files\novell\zenworks endpoint security.
I have also tried uninstalling it but that fails due to it "not being installed", and it will not reinstall over itself either.

Thanks,
AndyIf you are searching the registry, check for the "Senforce" string. It should be at HKLM\Software\Senforce
Try running the install program for the ZSC with the following command line:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1"
If you've specified an uninstall password, try this one instead:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1 STUIP=password"" (please note the double quote at the end)
Let me know if that helped you.

Do I need to unload the GroupWise agents if I am installing WebAccess on its own server?
Hi,
I ma installing GW Web Access into our GW703 tree and the install is prompting me to unload all agents on the machine to which I am installing.
As I am installing onto a separate server, I am assuming I can leave my PO, GWIA and MTA running?
Can someone confirm this before I proceed?
Thanks for your helpThanks!

Yes, the install means to unload all agents running on the server where
you are installing WebAccess. If all your agents are on other servers
you can leave them running.
