Installing two systems in one host - clarification

Hi Experts,
We have requirement to install the R3 and BI development system in the same host.
I have completed installation of the BI7 system.
The database used is SQL server 2005.
Now when we install the other system, I am not sure how to go about the database.
Do I need to install again SQL server 2005 in some other drive or the existing one can be used, that means will it add a new database to the existing database server?
Thanks and Regards,
Amit Jana.

Hi,
While installing ECC6 on MSSQL 2005 the instance is not starting up.
In SAPMMC console the dispather is stopping as all the wp s are dying.
I am giving the error log from dev_w0.
Kindly suggest.

  • Installing Several Systems on One host

    Hello
is it possible to install several Systems (both central instance and database instance +j2ee engine run on the same host) on ONE host?
If i want to install the ECC i must install the sap solution manager.
Is it possible to install this system on the same host on which i want to install the ECC?
I guess i will then have an MCOD System, which means that the solution manager and the ECC will reside in the same database or am i wrong?

    Hi,
We installed Database and CI on server A and server B for ECC.Installing again Database instance with seperate oracle software and CI for BW on seever A
for database and server B for CI.I am having problem
when using oracle client software. I did not choose to extract oracle client software for BW -CI in my first attempt since it will over write existing oracle client software in CI for ECC. if choose to extract when installing CI for BW CI for ECC breaks - which i did when installing CI again for BW. Since during my first install CI for BW could not talk to DB for BW.

  • Two systems on one databses

    Hi,
we are currently running our QA and DEV systems one one host and one sql server 2000.the systems version is 4.6c.we are going to upgrade our systems to ecc6.I would like to know if this configuration (two systems on one host and one DB - <u>not mcod!!!!</u>) is supported on ecc6 and on sql server 2005.in notes 28392,171929 it is mentioned only regarding windows 2000 and sql server and sql server 2000.
    Regards,
    Moshe

    Ah - Ok - I got it:)
This configuration is supported since SQL Server 7.0 and I don't find any note or information telling, that it's no more support on 2005, so I would say YES, it is supported.
However, to get a definite answer I'd open an OSS call under BC-DB-MSS and ask the guys from SAP.

  • Two solamn sap systems in One host ????

    Experts,
Is it possible to install two solman 7.0 sap systems in single host.
Aleady i have installed solman 7.0/Ms sql 2005 in the Windows Host.  I want to install another solman 7.0 in different SID in same the host for testing purpose.
(I installed ECC and CRM servers in the same host its works fine.)
    PLease give your suggesstion
    Thanks
    Thirumal

    Hi thirumal,
we can install two solman in one system through a concept called MCOD ie multiple components in one Database.
just as we can different SID's in one database.
for more information refer this site:

    Hi,
You only have to consider 2 things :
    1. SAPTRANSHOST entry in hosts file will be the same for both systems
this mean that both systems will share the same transport directory
    Regards,
    Wojtek
This is not true.  Your SAPTRANSHOST will remain the same, but you can (and should) specify independent trans directories with the DIR_TRANS and and EPS profile parameters to designate where the instance trans files should be located (i.e. /usr/sap/trans_SID).  I recommend you make this change in the existing host first, and then clear out the trans directory.  Let the 2nd instance install into it and then alter that one too (thereby moving the files to the new /usr/sap/trans_SID2).

  • Two SAP system in one host and one oracle software

    Hi SAP Gurus,
We want to install Two SAP system (PR1 & PP1) in one host(Prdb05) and one database (Oracle). I dont want to do MCOD.
I am very confuse about what changes i need to make before start the install of PP1. Actually i do not required to install oracle software again. am i correct ?
also i do not required to install oracle client again.am i correct ?
Will it take software automatically ?
In SAP note 350251 they asked me to run ./runinstaller !!! but when we
are not installing software again why we need to to execute that.
Will you please guide us for the same.

Hi , This is what you have to do .
Couple of questions before i answer anything
    1) Is your first SAP system installed ?
    2) is this High Available system
What Oliver suggested is a valid option on Windows , but not on Unix .
In Unix you might face problems for user, groups because the user for ORACLE_HOME should ideally be ora<SID>, and if you have 2 SID and one ORACLE_HOME , which user will you give ?
So , it is better that you have 2 seperate oracle software installed , 2 seperate ORACLE_HOME , 2 seperate filesystems for oracle software .
Hope you understood , what i am trying to say .
    Thanks

  • Two oracle on one host

    Dear Friends,
I have installed oracle and SAP which is working fine.now i have requirement where i have to install another database with smsaproper and smsaproperadm user database on one host. on second database sap is not installed. It is used for some other purpose ie for disaater recovery. First database is used for SAP and second one is used for non-sap.
Please suggest how to proceed with this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Jiggi

With a slight modification ... U donot need two separate listeners to support two databases on the same host.
You can very well have one listener control catering to both the databases.
    Here are some tips ....
Say ur sap sid is S1 so u r having two OS id oras1 and s1adm with proper env settings.
For the non sap application say instance name is APP1
so u shud have oraapp1 Operating system user with proper env settings like
    ORACLE_HOME= /oracle/APP1/10_2....
    LIBPATH/LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    ORACLE_SID=APP1
The path variable under this user ie(oraapp1) should not have any entry pointing to the ORACLE_HOME of SAP application.
As I said one listener is good enough to cater both the databases you just need to open up the listener file ie listener.ora under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin (this oracle home can be of ur sap appliaction or ur APP1 home depending upon which listener u wish to make use of )If u wish to have app1 listener catering both app1 and sap DB then add entry for sap DB in the listener.ora of APP1 database or vice versa.
Any problem with this ,do write back.

  • Installing two iMS against one iDS

    Hello,
I need to install two iMS 5.2 against one iDS 5.0 sp2 on solaris. My question is wether there is anything that could go wrong with the installation of the second one and wether there are any steps that should be taken before proceeding. Is there anything that should be deleted from the iDS? Will the installation process abort when the systemgroups or systemusers are already present in the directory? (Or is it ldapadd -c?). I couldn't find anything on this scenario (which doesn't mean that there isn't anything but that I couldn't find it), so a hint where to look for documentation is appreciated.
In short, are there any settings from the first installation, that should be edited/deleted before proceeding to the installation of the second machine? In cn=config/o=internet/o=NetscapeRoot ?
    Thanks for your help
    Joerg

I didn't have much luck when I was doing the Messaging 5.1 installs, I'm not sure about 5.2 if the problems I experienced would be fixed or not. I tried the 5.1 installer against an external Directory server and after the second install it ended up breaking the ACI's on the User tree making it pretty much unusable until I could re-apply the ACI's that existed on the Directory before I tried the install. It almost appears that the installer in 5.1 wasn't intelligent enough to detect the existence of the attributes,ACI's that it was trying to write into the Directory ... not good. As I mentioned though I don't know if 5.2 is any better. With my setup the local Directories only keep the local configuration information and the Address Book entries. All my User and Group information is kept on the external Directory server. My only suggestion is try it against a non-production Directory server and keep a LDIF backup handy for quick restores.

  • Using the Log Viewer for two systems on same host

We have two Portal systems installed on the same host server.  The log viewer only identifies and displays the log files from one of the systems (A).  This is the case even though I started the log viewer while logged on as the <sid>adm for system (B).
In the configuration of the Log Viewer, I do not see an option to have it add another "system" to the local host.
How can I configure the log viewer to display logs from both systems installed on the same host?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob,
with the port you can distinguis between the servers. both portals should have unique ports on the same server.
for you relevant is the P4-port.
these settings work for remote servers:
    Name: <SID>
    Host name: <hostname of server>
Port: <P4 Port, normally 5<SysNr>04>, you can check this at: http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo under the Dispatcher infos
    Connection: J2EE
    User: <admin user>
    Password: <admin user password>

  • Multiple XI systems on one host - problems

    Hi,
We have a problem when installing a second XI system on the same host.
Symptoms are that the J2EE engine of the first running installation does not work anymore, all java related items either hang or do not start.
The abap stack runs as normal. We do get a lot of shortdumps that say that the programs in the RFC connections are not registered. We do not know whether this is cause or result of the problem.
Our Visual administrator does not start anymore as well.
We shut down the newly installed system of course but this does not seem to help.
    Anyone have a clue?

    Hi Chris,
Im particulary interested in the behaviour of SLD in this kind of infrastructure.
Does your XI environment uses only one or multiple SLD instances?
Do you have access to all your defined business and tech. systems/objects across the XI environment in SLD?
    Thanks,
    Rob.

  • Monitor two systems in one solution - BPMoni

    Hi,
I have configured business process monitoring for our production system but now need to add our test system into the solution and monitor the test system as well to do some testing.
When I go to Solution Landscape Maintenance both clients from two different systems are included in the solution but when I go to "Setup Business Process Monitoring" only the production one is listed under Logical Components tab.
Sorry I am very new at this but how can I get the business monitoring to work for both systems?
    Thank you,
    Sergiy

    Hi Sergiy
Yes you have to use 2 logical component to monitor 2 different system.
    Logical component consit of system+client.
So for example, you want to monitor cleint 100&200, then you need to
define 2 different logical component for client 100 and 200.
Same things also apply. If you want to monitor same business process
    in different system.
So create logical component 1 for your production system.
And create logical component 2 for your test system.
Then create 2 business process (exactly same).
    Business Process: order to cash.
    1.Business process step : create sales order (T-CD VA01) <Logical component1>
    2.Business Process step : create delivery (T-CD VL01)<Logical component1>
Business Process: order to cash (test).
    1.Business process step : create sales order (T-CD VA01) <Logical component2>
    2.Business Process step : create delivery (T-CD VL01)<Logical component2>
Then you can monitor business process order to cash in 1 solution.
But I think it is better to create 2 different solutions since operator
might not want to see business process for test system in BPMon.

  • Two systems on one iMac - how do I delete one?

Our last Mac died and we bought an iMac early last year which came with Lion/Mountain Lion already installed.  I then installed Mavericks this year.
I had backed up our old mac and managed to transfer the files to the new iMac but I seem to have both Snow Leopard (backed up files) and Mountain Lion/Mavericks running independently.  I can log out of one and then log into the other which I did to ensure all - or at least - most of my files were available in Mountain Lion.
I have all the files I need and the computer just seems to be running so slowly so is it possible to now delete Snow Leopard?  Will it make my mac any faster and will I lose everything I already have?
I am sorry to be such a fool but I really don't understand how computers work and my husband is much better at woodwork!
    Please can someone help me?
    Thank you.
    Corky's mum!

What do you mean by deleting the account? One can't delete an Apple ID/iTunes account. One just stops using it.
Since yo can only have five computer authorized for one iTunes account you might want to deauthorize the computer for that account

  • Two R3 Systems on one Windows NT Server

    Dear SDN Colleagues,
I'm starting an installation project (DEMO systems) of the Solman 4.0 and SAP ERP 2005 (ECC 6.0). I'm planning to install both systems on one Windows NT Server. About ABAP stack I know that it is possible, as such as describe in the SAP Note 28392 "Two R/3 Systems on one Windows NT Server", but we’d like to know about JAVA Stack.
Is there any available SAP documentation about
installing several systems in one host?
Thanks in advanced and Best Regards,
    Chacon

    Hi,
you can install both Solman and ECC 6.0 on single NT host.
it is better to go for 64 bit windows installation. if you have 64 bit windows OS.
installation of java stack  depands on your requirement.
    download installation document from service.sap.com/instguides.
    Guidelines:  ( for example only)
    1) first install SOLMAN 4.0 ABAP + JAVA stack on windows.
    SID: SSM
    instance number : 00
after sucessfull installation of solman perform post installation on that. and stop the SAP instance.
    2) Now install ECC 6.0 ABAP instance , If you want to plan to use ESS/MSS like java based service than JAVA stack is required.
Either you can perform ABAP + JAVA stack or perform only ABAP installation and JAVA stack as separate instance.
    SID: ECC
    instance number : 10
if you going for JAVA stack as separate instance.
    SID: J2E
    instance number : 20
so as result you have total 3 System, for this more than 4GB RAM is required. ( for better perfomance)
    regards,
    kaushal

  • More than one Database Server on one host

    Hallo,
We want to implement two systems on one host with MaxDb as database. I know it is possible to run 2 DB-Instances on one host, is it possible to upgrade or patch one instance without inflicting the other one with this changes?
    For example:
I have the development and test system on one host with two database instances running. is it possible to only upgrade the Database Instance of the Development System without upgrading the test instance.
I know it is possible in Oracle but is this also possible for MaxDB?
I hope you can give me an answer.
    best regards,
    Patrick Volny

    Hello Patrick,
    1) "If I understand you correctly, I am able to patch each Instance separately but because the instances share the same kernel to upgrade an Database I have to upgrade all instances?"
Answer: You can update the database instance separately.
As the independent database software is shared between database instances, located in /sapdb/programs by default installation and it's downward compatible
                      ==>
you could upgrade only one database instance & run the another database instance with the higher version of the independent database software.
Warning: Please follow the recommended structure of the database software installation & install the dependent on the version of the database system software once for each database instance.
By default it's installed in /sapdb/<SID>/db
Example : On the local server ::
    dbmcli db_enum
    OK
    SC1#C:\sapdb\sc1\db                        #7.6.04.11#fast#running
    SC1#C:\sapdb\sc1\db                        #7.6.04.11#slow#offline
    LVC750#c:\sapdb\lvc750\db                     #7.6.00.21#fast#offline
    LVC750#c:\sapdb\lvc750\db                     #7.6.00.21#slow#offline
    xinstinfo SC1
    IndepData           : C:\sapdb\data
    IndepPrograms       : C:\sapdb\programs
    InstallationPath    : C:\sapdb\sc1\db
    Kernelversion       : KERNEL    7.6.04   BUILD 011-123-181-372
    Rundirectory        : c:\sapdb\data\wrk\SC1
    xinstinfo LVC750
    IndepData           : C:\sapdb\data
    IndepPrograms       : C:\sapdb\programs
    InstallationPath    : c:\sapdb\lvc750\db
    Kernelversion       : KERNEL    7.6.00   BUILD 021-123-117-795
    Rundirectory        : c:\sapdb\data\wrk\LVC750
In my case, I have installed two database instances of the versions 7.6.00   BUILD 021 and 7.6.04   BUILD 011 on one server,
Independent database software is installed in C:\sapdb\programs and each database instance has own InstallationPath.
And you could run also 'sdbregview -l' to get the short list of all installed database packages, pay attention to the "Database Kernel" package
for the dependent database software installation path/version.
    2) "I also read that to patch an instance you have to stop an x server service. But this service is necessary for the communication between applications and the database. so if i patch an instance the second one can't work properly?"
The X Server is needed for the client to establish the connection to a database instance located on a remote computer. As you know the X Server is the communication server for the database system. The X Server listens out for connection requests from clients such as database applications and database tools.
As I already wrote you, that the independent database software is downward compatible & you should not have the problems with the communication to the Test database on the TEST system.
I case you would like to know more details about the database version software, if there are any known problems, please update with additional information::
What are the current versions of the DEV and Test databases?
Did you install the application servers on the database server or not?
To what version of the database are you going to update the DEV database instance?
What is the version/SP of the SAP basis on the TEST system?
What is the version/patch of the SAP kernel on the TEST system?
    3) The installation distinguishes between different software directories, as you already know.
    For example, the following directories:
           - <independent_program_path>
              SAP Standard:/sapdb/programs
Run the command 'dbmcli -s dbm_getpath IndepProgPath' or 'xinstinfo' to get the current value on your system.
!!!! This directory contains instance- or version-independent software that works downwardly-compatible.
           -  <independent_data_path>
              SAP Standard:/sapdb/data
Run the command 'dbmcli -s dbm_getpath IndepDataPath' or 'xinstinfo' to get the current value on your system.
           -  <independent_data_path>/config
              SAP Standard:/sapdb/data/config
           -  <InstallationPath>
    SAP standard: /sapdb/<SID>/db
           -  <run_directory>
    SAP standard: /sapdb/data/wrk/SID
