Integrate Password CUA and Active Directory (AD)

Hello Everybody,
We have integrated AD with our CUA system.
Is it possible integrated the same password CUA and AD?
How can I configure this?
Thank you,
Luciana

Luciana,
I am not sure if you are aware, but the Active Directory domain controller uses a protocol called Kerberos to authenticate a user when they logon to the domain. Therefore, to logon to SAP in the way you require it is best to use Kerberos so that the credentials for the user already available on the workstation, in the credentials cache can be used to securely authenticate the same user to the SAP system, e.g. CUA ABAP via SAP GUI. This means that no passwords need to be transmitted or stored anywhere, and the only authentication needed is that already done using Active Directory when the user logs onto their Workstation. Also, you can use this method to encrypt the communications - giving you added benefit, rather than just using the authentication provided.
This is achieved using an interface which SAP provided in SAP GUI and in SAP application servers called SNC (Secure Network Communications). For SNC to work, you need a GSS-API library installed on each workstation where SAP GUI is installed, and on the app servers you want to logon to using this secure authentication method. SAP provide SNC libraries, but they are only available if your SAP app server is on Windows. In your case where SAP is on HP/UX, you need to use an SNC library available from a SAP partner. This partner will provide you with all the software and support you need to make the solution work, and meet your needs.
I would like to recommend one such partner, but I am biased because I work for the vendor providing this product :-). The partner is called CyberSafe. You can make contact with me offline and I can arrange a free evaluation of the products, or you can visit the CyberSafe website at <a href="http://www.cybersafe.com/links/snc.htm">this site</a> to find out more. Or, you may decide to look for other partners who have solutions to help you, in which case you need to look on the SAP website for SAP SNC partners.
I hope this is useful ?
Thanks,
Tim

    Hi James,
We get External DB is not operational. Could you confirm if under External Databases > Unknown User           Policy, and verify you have the AD/ Windows database at the top?
this error means the external server might not correctly configured on ACS external database section.
Another point is to make sure we have remote agent installed on supported windows server.

Also provide the Auth logs from the server running remote agent, e.g.:-

  • Sun java directory server and Active Directory

We are using two different directory servers Sun java directory server and active directory.
My question is how we can have password synchronization between these two directory servers.
I have checked Sun Java[TM] System Identity Synchronization for Windows 1 2004Q3
    http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=41537425
It seems that it's supported platforms is only for solaris and windows , but I have installed my Sun java directory server on linux and obviously it doesn't work for me.
I would be grateful if anyone can suggest a solution to work around this situation.
I have checked identity manager , I would like to know that if I can do this using this product.
    http://www.sun.com/software/products/identity_mgr/specs.jsp
    --regards.
    Sara

Yes RHEL 4 is a supported OS with DSEE 6.0.
Identity Synchronization for Windows is a part of DSEE that allows synchronization of users, passwords and groups between Sun Directory Server and Active Directory bi-directionally without altering the users environments, ie it does not require that users change their current habits.
Identity Manager is a complete identity management solution that is targetting enterprise work flow when it comes to user provisioning and de-provisioning, but also allows to build authentication and password change forms that will provision the passwords to many different systems including Sun Directory Server and Active Directory but also IBM mainframes, legacy applications, databases...
If you are implementing a complete identity management solution, then go with Identity Manager. If you need a lightweight and fast solution for just synchronizing users and passwords between Sun DS and MS AD, Identity Synchronization for Windows should be your choice.

    Ludovic.

  • ### How to make integration between UCCX and Active Directory##

    Hello,
I want to know what is the right procedure to perform a right integration between the UCCX and the Active Directory?
    Waiting Yours Reply,,,,
    Thanks a lot......

    What version?
Assuming a current version (5.0 and higher): there is NO direct integration between CCX and Active Directory. The CCX server must not be joined to a domain.
CCX uses UC Manager End Users for synchronized usernames and passwords. If UC Manager is synchronized with an LDAP source, such as Active Directory, then this will carry forward to CCX. CCX would pass authentication requests to CCX through AXL. UCM would perform the LDAP authentication and inform CCX of the success/failure.

  • Db10g external password authentication with Active Directory via OID

    HI ALL
    - i have the synchronization AD-to-OID
    - i have the external authorization of AD users via SSO (external authorization plug-in)
    - i have the DB10g enterprise authorization of OID native users who have their password in OID (global schema)
    - but i cann't configure the DB10g autorization of AD-to-OID synchronized users who don't have their password in OID
    error:
ORA-28274: No ORACLE password attribute corresponding to user nickname exists.
i.e. those users are not recognized as users with external passwords.
    Any ideas, please ...

Funny thing - LDAP (OID and Active Directory) defines a generic heirachical database. Like any other generic database, you need to define the schema to define what data is to be captured.
Each LDAP application expects a certain schema. That includes Enterprise User Security (part of the Advanced Security Option).
To accomplish what you want to do
    1) get familiar with the Enterprise User Security capability (see the EUS documentation at tahiti)
    2) learn to configure SQLNet / Oracle Networking to use LDAPthat is responsib (''cause it's Oracle Networking responsible for the login)
    3) Reverse the schema from OID and transport it to AD
    Aside from that, it's a no-brainer.

  • Cucm 9.1.2 and Active Directory(Windows Server 2003 Standart Edition SP2)

      Hello!
Can CUCM 9.1.2 support an integration with Active Directory(Windows Server 2003 Standart Edition SP2)? How do I have to write down LDAP Manager Distinguished Name? I can find supporting only Active Directory 2003 in documentations without reference to Operation System.

    Yes, it is possible.
Check this how-to if you have any doubts about the process.

  • Difference between Windows NT domain registry and Active Directory registry

    What are the difference(s) ?

Frank, thanks for your response :)
I want WebSphere Application Server to take advantage of a directory service. There are multiple options available for a directory service.
In my configuration the requirement is to make WebSphere Application server to use Microsoft's Active Directory.
While I was going through (WebSphere) documentation, I see following note.
" With Windows NT domain registry support for Windows 2000 and 2003 domain
controllers, WebSphere Application Server only supports Global groups that are the Security type. It is recommended that you use the Active Directory registry support rather than a Windows NT domain registry if you use Windows 2000 and 2003 domain controllers
because the Active Directory supports all group scopes and types. The Active Directory also supports a nested group that is not support by Windows NT domain registry. The Active Directory is a centralized control registry."
You can find the above note in this link (somewhere after 7th line)
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSAW57_7.0.0/com.ibm.websphere.nd.multiplatform.doc/info/ae/ae/csec_localos.html?cp=SSAW57_7.0.0%2F3-11-5-1-0-0
Does it mean that they are recommending to use Active Directory over Windows NT (which is an older approach) with windows server 2000 or windows server 2003 because Active directory is
    advanced ?
I was under the impression that, Active Directory was started with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows NT registry was used till Windows 2000 server.
    After going through above links,
Windows NT registry in an old method. However, it is compatible with Windows Server 2000 and Windows server 2003 but it is recommended to use Active directory with Windows Serve 2003 as it is more advanced. And the same is recommended in WebSphere documentation
(I am aware that support for Windows Server 2000 is over and only extended support is available for Windows Server 2003 however this is to clear doubt). Is my understanding correct ? And does windows server 2000 also support both i.e we can use either Windows
NT registry or Active directory and similarly, Either of them (Windows NT or Active Directory) could be used with Windows Server 2003 ?
And if I got it correct, Is Windows NT and Active Directory, both directory service offering from Microsoft? While NT being an old method and Active Directory being a new/advanced approach ?

  • OID and Active Directory

1 Does Oracle OID integrate with Active Directory to synch data with Active Directory periodically?
2 Marshall data from Active Directory on demand (live link)?
3 Does Oracle Single Sign-on solution work with multiple directories (i.e. OID and AD both being used by Oracle Single Sign-on)
4 Can Oracle Single-Sing-on work with a Desktop login into a Domain (also called NT Authentication or Desktop authentication).

This is what I have to share with you....For further details refer link http://otn.oracle.com/products/oid/index.html and Oracle Internet Directory Administrator's Guide.
1 Does Oracle OID integrate with Active Directory to synch data with Active Directory periodically?
For synchronizing from Microsoft Active Directory to Oracle Internet Directory, you need to track changes in Microsoft Active Directory and configure your Active directory connector giving its URL, user account and password to be used by the Active Directory connector, its DIT info on domain which contain the users/groups. And in the Active Directory synchronization profile you'll have to set the mapping rule.
2 Marshall data from Active Directory on demand (live link)?
Yes, its possible to migrate data between directories. Configure your Active Directory connector and External auth Plug-in. And use the Directory Integration and Provisioning Assistant.
3 Does Oracle Single Sign-on solution work with multiple directories (i.e. OID and AD both being used by Oracle Single Sign-on)
Yes, its possible. When a user tries to log in, the OracleAS Single Sign-On server tries to verify the credentials the user enters against those stored in Oracle Internet Directory. If the user credentials are not there, then the Oracle directory server invokes the Active Directory external authentication plug-in. This plug-in verifies the user credentials in Microsoft Windows. If the verification is successful, then the Oracle directory server notifies the OracleAS Single Sign-On accordingly.
4 Can Oracle Single-Sing-on work with a Desktop login into a Domain (also called NT Authentication or Desktop authentication).
Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On enables native authentication, also called autologin, in a Microsoft Windows environment. Once logged into the Windows desktop, the user automatically has access to Oracle components. OracleAS Single Sign-On automatically logs the user into the Oracle environment using user's Kerberos credentials.

  • Applre Remote Desktop and Active Directory

    Hi
How does one remote desktop into a Mac that in bound to Microsofts Active Directory ?
It will not accept any username/password if bound, but if unbound it connects first go.
    Suggestions ?

Have you looked into extending the Active Directory schema to support Mac OS X? Given the problems I'm having with AD Mobile Accounts, I don't even want to think about modifying the AD schema yet; and I doubt I'd get approval in the best of circumstances. But it may be useful for what you're trying to do.

{quote}Extend the AD schema to handle management.
    By adding 38 attributes and 10 classes to the AD schema, your AD system can support all Mac OS X management policies. Just use the normal Mac OS X management tools and target the AD domain.{quote}

  • Oracle 9i and Active directory

    Hi,
We have Oracle 9i R2 and windows 2003 Active Directory as domain controller on the same server.
I'm not comfortable with this idea having both on the same machine and I am considering to put them on separate servers, and to integrate Oracle with Active Directory.
Is it advisable to leave then on the same machine? are there any known problems?
I couldn't find any documents from Oracle regarding this. any suggestions any links will be appreciated.
    Tony Garabedian

If I remove the server of being a domain controller with AD (dcpromo out, and losing the Administrator profile on that machine) and leave only Oracle on it, will Oracle still be functional?Yes. But I'd check file access rights. Anyway you'll still have local Admin account available. Think about:
    . I got a domain admin account
    . I install Oracle
. I leave the company and my account is deleted
=> oracle is still working perfectly
I can't see any reason this would work otherwise in your case. Anyway you could just create a full server backup, and if any problem restore it (Ghost for example).
The sole problem would be if you defined oracle users identified via AD acess, but that works weird anyway.
Furthermore, I totally agree with Jaffar. Use OID rather than AD. We had many problems to setup a working config there... afterwards this was too much time-consuming to manage and I changed it to OID. Since then it's working kind of magic.

  • Re: single log-on (SSO) using Windows 2000 and Active Directory

    Hi Honggo,
Its possible to see all the Active Directory users in WLS6.1 by
    configuring the ldap realm.
You can use any of the username/password in ldap but you still have to
    login again.
However the concept of single sign on across operating system and WLS
might not work in WLS6.1. WLS 7.0 allows you to write code that
supports these kind of things better.

anybody know how to use windows 2k authentication
    (implemented by Active Directory)
to support SSO in WebLogic Server?
What I mean is I want to login once and only once
in win2000 and somehow weblogic server know
who is currently logon and impose some Access Control
    many regards in advance

Replying again because it didn´t seem to work last time.
Could you be more specific? What code do I have to write to achive single sing on across Windows and WLS 8.1?

  • Password Sync from Active Directory Locking Accounts

    Hello,
We recently set up Active Directory as a resource and are synching passwords. We are using IDM 7.1.1.11. We are noticing that when actions in IDM push the password out to AD, and they sync comes back to IDM, the sync workflow is locking up the account, before the original IDM action completes. For example, when an admin resets a users password, they see several error messages stating that the account is locked by the account that authenticates through the password sync utility. They also see succesful password reset messages, but I would like it if they didn't see errors saying the account is locked. We are using a direct connection between the Password Sync util and IDM. Has anyone ran into this? Any advice on overcoming it?
    Thanks.
    Jim

I opened a support case with Sun about this issue, and they recommended logging a trace file for com.waveset.adapter.ActiveDirectoryActiveSyncAdapter. While the tracefile does not seem to contain any useful information, the simple fact that there is tracing going on for it now seems to be easing the situation. In my test environment I saw occurrences of this locking problem drop by 90-95% simply by turning the tracing on. I started tracing in production in the hopes that it will at least lessen the occurances of this.
Sounds like we are taking the same approach Raj, the problem I've been having with it is getting it to happen will I'm debugging our reset password workflow. I want to make sure I add the locking check in the right place, so I was attempting to determine which area to check for it.
I'll be sure to keep the thread updated if anything changes on our end.

i have tried to reconfig and reinstall the connector but still the same issue.

    Don't think so.
Reconcile will just find accounts that are out of sync (that is, that exist on one system but not the other). It doesn't update account attributes.
ActiveSync can identify and process changed records, but the password itself is hashed, so unless you can use the hashed password directly (and IDM can't) then you just would get "garbage" data via the sync.
I think you do need to use one of the PasswordSync tools for this, because they intercept the password change process before the password is hashed, allowing you to apply the changes in multiple locations.

  • OS X Server and Active Directory

    Hi
I'm trying to use OS X Server 10.5 with Active Directory and have got to the stage where I can view AD users and groups in Workgroup Manager and have authenticated on the domain.
However, if I try and change a user's password I get "The password could not be set. The action failed because you are not authorized to perform the operation."
Also, if I try and create an account on the domain I receive the following - "Got unexpected error Error of type eDSNoStdMappingAvailable (-14140) on line 4267 of /SourceCache/WorkgroupManager/WorkgroupManager-319/PMMUGMainView.mm".
I can delete accounts using Workgroup Manager and have confirm this has worked by checking in AD so can't understand what's going on.
    Any help greatly appreciated!
