Integrating Geographical locations with ZIP code

Dear all,
We have got not less than 200 Customers. New Customers are added often. Their postal addresses are available on the data base.  We would like to have a report / view which would generate a map of the locations of all customers, as would Google Maps does, when we search for "Costco, CA"
What technology we have to use for this?  Is it feasible to use dot net, given that the list of customers grow very often?
Pls advise.
Thanks in advance.
Naren.

Hi Naren,
What version of CR are you using?
Full versions of Crystal Reports have a Mapping feature built in but you do have to select it on install. If you do have full Crystal Reports go into Add/Remove Programs and change the features installed.
CR for .NET does not include this component.
Thank you
Don

  • Some websites show my location wrong zip code, how do I change zip code?

At some websites firefox shows me as located at a wrong zip code. Where does it get this information and how do I change it so it comes up with the correct zip code?
    Checked these:
    http://whatismyipaddress.com/
    http://browserspy.dk/geolocation.php
First one is correct & the the 2nd one is NOT....

Which of the locations is wrong on the second (browserspy) link?
The IP based map should show that same location as whatismyipaddress.<br />
The Geolocation Based Map is empty for me (Latitude is undefined; Longitude is undefined) and may only work properly if you use a wireless connection to a known hotspot.

  • HT1918 Problem with zip code

It keeps telling me my zip code is wrong, I've bought a lot of music with it being the same, never moved, never changed. So I went in my account, re typed everything in..still the same wrong zip code..

    Hi,
We had te exact same issue... what you have to do is to add the specific mime type to the exclusion list (parameter is called "NeverCompressed") of the HTTP Provider.
    See this for guidance:

I'm not 100% sure but I guess it needs a reboot after this.

  • Firefox will not allow me to change the zip code on the Walmart website.

When I follow a link to Walmart it automatically puts in an incorrect My Store location and zip code. I change it, close Firefox, re-open and try again. Same thing. It does not do that with other browsers. I have removed cookies several times, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but nothing seems to work.

Details like this are stored in a cookie.
Try to "Remove Cookies" Walmart cookies and check that they are still gone after closing and restarting Firefox:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Also make sure to close all tabs with the Walmart site to prevent Firefox from storing them in the sessionstore.js file as part of session data.
It is possible that the <i>cookies.sqlite</i> file that stores the cookies is corrupted if clearing cookies doesn't work.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

  • Zip Code Entry

Using Safari 1.3.1, whenever I type in my Zip Code (1----) in an address field, the "1" disappears prior to submission. This does not occur with Zip Codes beginning with "2" or higher. Any suggestions?

    MuffinM:
Check this solution out from Byron in a previous forum - I tried it, and it works!
    Big Apple Ikey
I was having this problem, too, but I think I just fixed it.
My ZIP is 19119. I had a ZIP+4 in the "My Card" information in Address Book and was having the same results: enter my 5-digit ZIP into a form and Safari lops off the first "1" leaving just "9119" and an unhappy form.
I removed the +4 information from "My Card," leaving just the 5-digit ZIP code. Forms now accept the full 5-digit ZIP with no lop-off.
I re-entered the +4 and the problem resumed. Took it out again, and the problem ceased.
Give this a try, folks. Let us all know if this works. Then write Apple, because it shouldn't work like that.

  • How to set columns for Zip Codes?

I am new to iMac and in my first week using trial version of Numbers. I work in sales and we do lots of mailings using merging of data and addresses for post cards, labels, etc.
I cannot see how to set columns to a zip code setting. All zips entered beginning with a 0 drop the front 0. I tried calling the column as Text, but it did not help. I can type a ' in from of the 0 and it works, but this takes an insane amount of time and will not work for us.
How do you deal with Zip Codes? Are there labeling options for mailing built into Numbers? I really want to dump all MS products but will have to drop mac and return buy Office if this is not correctable.
    Thank you,
    Brownie

    Hello
Setting the column format to text do the trick on my french version too.
With AppleWorks, I was accustomed to use a zeroSlashed so it remained in my zip codes when I moved codes here and there.

  • Zip Code Locator / Store Locator

    Guys,
I want to write a simple store-locator functionality in my website (Using a Mysql db with JSP-java etc.,)
I am not sure of the tools I need and how to approach the problem (once I get a Map of all the zip codes)... Please throw in some ideas that can help me on this...
    Thanks a ton!

The earth is ~ 40,000 km equatorial circumference
    Mapped as rectangular projection ignoring poles is 40,000 km x 16,000 km = 640,000,000 1km x 1km cells
    so 1 byte/km2 = 640 MB
    or 1 word/(250m x 250m) = 4*4*4*640MB = 40GB
So a reasonable brute force method for the planet (and a few big memory servers or a not very big fast disk) would work in most cases.
Obviously, if you're only interested in one part of the globe you scale down.
The USA is something like 10,000 km square so a 60 520GB disk would give you a 1/sqrt(500E9/4/(10E6m^2)) = 28m resolution lookup at < 10ms time per request.
A second lookup of the id returned from the big bitmap using the nearest neighbour approach for a few points would take you further, if required.
How much is your time worth to develop an efficient solution, if throwing 60 of hardware at it would be good enough?
Short of buying an awful lot of memory, any solution will hit the disk at least once (though you may be able to optimise away seeking, it's a query and won't be streaming whatever you do), so the overall time isn't likely to get much better without a lot of effort.
You can always trade off between the bitmap/localised query for space and speed.

  • Zip code input to return location

I am wondering if there is a spry tool that I can use. I want
the user to input one of about 50 zip codes in my area and then
based on that input, return one of 3 locations(address).
    TIA,

If you're in the USA and your server supports PHP -
A to Z store locator is fairly easy to work with:
    www.php4script.com/store-locator-script/
Other flavors and zip code support can be found at HotScripts

This problem is new. I have always been able to access the Weather Channel's website and obtain weather reports for various zip codes. I have Window 7 and use Firefox and Google. I have The Weather Channel as one of my Bookmarks. The site comes up when requested but the three locations that I had listed are not evident and when I type in the zip codes nothing comes up.

Hi there, I have the same problem with my envy 17ts-j100. I was trying to recover and I had a reset failed massage to I powered it off and went to sleep. The laptop won't boot to bios with symptoms as above.

Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine.  It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application
    He got this error
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.
SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
He has IIS5 and me too.
I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.
and in the connection string I have.
    <add key="sqlconn" value="Data Source=ESTACION15;Initial Catalog=GescomDefinitiva;Integrated Security=SSPI; Trusted_Connection=true"/>
I go to the profiler, and I see that when he browses a page, the database is accesed with user ASPSYS, but when I browse a page, the database is accesed with user SE\levalencia.
    Thats strange.
The only way that the other developer can work again on the project is to restart the whole machine. He has windows xp profession, I have windows 2000.
If you want me to send logs please tellme

Well here's my problem, maybe you can help. Intermittenly I get a login failed when connecting to a db engine through Server Management Studio using Windows authentication. When this happens the following entries are generated on the server's application event log:
    Event Type:        Error
    Event Source:    MSSQLSERVER
    Event Category:                (4)
    Event ID:              17806
    Date:                     1/14/2009
    Time:                     10:41:31 AM
    User:                     N/A
    Computer:          <server name>
    Description:
SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: <ip address>]
    Event Type:        Failure Audit
    Event Source:    MSSQLSERVER
    Event Category:                (4)
    Event ID:              18452
    Date:                     1/14/2009
    Time:                     10:41:31 AM
    User:                     N/A
    Computer:          <server name>
    Description:
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: <ip address>]
I've already ensured that the server is set to mixed authentication mode. Oddly enough, the workaround that I've found is that if I remote desktop into the server, log in and then log back out, Management Studio is suddenly able to connect again. No idea why it works.
As I said before, it is intermitten. Some days it errors on login, other days it doesn't and there are no configuration changes between them. Also, both client and server are in the same domain and same site so there is no VPN or anything in between. I'm really quite stumped. Any help would be great, or if you can point me in the right direction of where to look. Thank you in advance!

  • A website asked I wanted to automatically tell them my geographic location. Firefox popped up a screen with the option. How do I get back to this option?.

A newspaper website asked if I wanted to tell them my location. Firfox popped up and asked if I wanted to automatically tell sites that ask my geographic location. I clicked and got more information. There was a section that gave instructions to permanently disable geographic location tracking. I followed the directions to disable, even though the default is no tracking. I had to type an two words with a : separating them into the address bar. This brought me to a long list of settings. I followed the directions but now it seems my location is being tracked by everyone.
How do I get back to this list of settings (which was not accessed through Options) to go back to the default?

You can inspect and manage permissions for all domains on the <b>about:permissions</b> page via the location bar.

  • Zip code Problem (or Frustrated with iTunes "Support")

I have been having a new problem (with an old credit card) on iTunes, where I get the repetitive error that the zip code I've entered does not match the one the bank has for the card.  I have ensured that the zip code is correct and checked the bank zip code to make sure that that was done.  I have made many, many iTunes purchases with this card, and not had a problem with the zip code previously, and I have not moved or changed the zip code since the last time I tried to make an iTunes purchase.  It's not like the zip code would change itself.  But I checked to make sure, anyway.  I also contacted my bank to ensure there wasn't a hold on that particular card.
This I did before I contacted itunes support.  An email to iTunes support explaining the above and specifically stating that the zip code in itunes for that card is correct, and 2 days later, I get a reply instructing me on how to change the zip code for the card in iTunes.  I wonder if Apple has any idea how condescending that comes across.  Who would waste their time with tech support for an error like that if their zip code was incorrect?
Now, I've recieved 2 more emails on the same track, basically telling me to fix the zip code.  I am 100% sure that the zip code in iTunes is correct.  I tried to tell the tech "support" person (Johan) this, but he has essentially only told me repeatedly how to fix the zip code on iTunes.  (Again, Apple, if you're reading this, that is really rude and condescending, assuming your users are THAT stupid).
Has anybody ever had this error before, and does anybody have a fix for it?
    Thank you,
    Katy

I get the repetitive error that the zip code I've entered does not match the one the bank has for the card
Since you are seeing the same dialog repeatedly, try this.
    Launch iTunes on your Mac.
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Reset warnings and Reset cache
    Click OK
Restart your Mac, launch iTunes. See if you can download a free app. Regardless of whether or not it's free or purchased, you'll still see the login window.

  • Saving zip code data with PHP - best practices

I have built my client an application that analyzes uploaded
    zip codes for
matches with a standard set of zips. These uploaded zips can
    be one at a
time, or a copy/paste from an XLS file (just 5 digit ZIPs).
They are now asking me to save these uploaded zips, and I am
    wondering what
would be the best way to do that. My two obvious choices are
    1. Write them to an external text file with a
    programmatically generated
name, and enter the name in the database, keyed to the user.
    2. Write the zips themselves into a glob field in the
    database.
I'm inclined to the former, since I don't think there would
    ever need to be
any further manipulation of these zip codes, but what do you
    think? Are
there other choices I may have overlooked?

  • Sql help please with, finding all zip codes within a given radius.

I have a table which contains zip, city, state, latdec, longdec, latrad, longrad.
From search screen, if user want, zip code's within 10 mile radius of his zip code, what is the sql. I came up with following sql but it is not correct:
first, find his latdec long dec from his zipcode. Then add radius to those values and do select as follows:
    select zip,
    latdec, longdec,
    city, state, latrad, longrad
    from zip_coord
    where latdec >= (latdec - 10)
    and latdec <= (latdec + 10)
    and longdec >= (longdec - 10)and longdec <= (longdec + 10).
I think i need to include radians too, but i'm not able to come up with logical formula.
I would appreciate any help with this topic.
    Thanks in advance

u probably need to use oracle spatial option and store geoCodes for each address as a column in the address table . then doing this will be easy
