Integration of JAAS in Tomcat

Hi,
I want to use JAAS in Tomcat, but i don't hava a idea, how i can realize it !!!
Can someone help me with a tutorial or tips, to include JAAS in Tomcat.
Thanks a lot for your help !!

Hi erdal,
look on the JAASRealm from tomcat. http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.0-doc/realm-howto.html
There is a JAASImplementation in the nightly builds.

  • EBiz 11i Integration and Printing with TOMCAT/COCOON

    Hi,
I have successfully set up a TOMCAT/COCOON printing environment on a Red Hat LINUX server. I am able to produce PDF's from all of my APEX applications with the exception of those defined in our 11i (11.5.0) eBusiness application.
I use the exact same settings in all instance settings. All run under AIX 5.3 and all can see (ping) the print server. Similarly the print server can see (ping) all of the APEX servers.
However, trying to produce a PDF from an APEX installation hosted in our eBusiness environments (either from within or outide of the eBusiness application) results in the dreaded HTTP 404 Not Found error.
Is there something else I need to consider when trying to use a print engine on another server when called from an eBusiness database/application server?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi David,
Thanks for the feedback. We are on 10gR2 database, but I re-checked logs to include the error_log_pls file as well as error_log!
In the error_log_pls I see oracle error ORA-22293. As you may know 11i uses 9iAS by default, and associated Apache. I had made use of the installed Apache in the IAS_ORACLE_HOME. Thanks to your pointer, I have seen suggestions that the issue may be resolved by making use of Apache that comes with 10g. My concern here would be that the seamless integration I have between APEX and 11i (printing aside) will be compromised - the entries I use in defining the function within 11i may need to change.
I will install Apache from 10g and see what transpires.
As an aside, I do have a lot of dealings with Oracle Support and I wouldnt necessarily share unqualified endorsement of their capabilities :) . I didnt raise an SR this time because I had figured there was some issue with Cocoon and the 11i server rather than with the Oracle software itself. Maybe I was wrong!
I will update when I have further information.
    Thanks again.

Sorry, I am not sure about that.
Also, I don't see a particular line that was bolded in your original post.
The way I ensured that my LoginModule was being called (aside from the fact that I was able to login) was debugging it in Eclipse and placing a breakpoint in the LoginModule code.
You could try putting a System.out.println() statement in it to see if it is called.

  • JAAS + JDeveloper + Tomcat Example

    Hello,
Is there a resource somewhere on the web that describes how to use JAAS with JDeveloper (1.10.3 preferably) and Tomcat for complete idiots like myself?
    Thanks,
    Terris

    Terris,
JAAS is nothing specific to Oracle and there is no way to automate its usage. The development of JAAS security in applications and its deployment includes
    1. Create a JAAS LoginModule or re-use an existing
    2. Configure the target platform - Tomcat - for JAAS (it needs a reference to a policy file with the Permissions defined that you need for your application
    3. Make the application instantiate a login context and reference the configuration of the JAAS Login Module
SUN does host good JAAS tutorials on their website. Note that if the requirement isn't JAAS, J2EE declarative security is easier to use and more portable.

  • JAAS Tomcat PB..

I try to integrate JAAS with Tomcat 5.028 and JSF
I read a lot of FAQs BUT i have a pb for authorization.
    My web.xml seems OK
    The Login module seems OK
I always have a HTTP 403 error for bad authorization.
I launch Tomcat with 2 JVM options:
    -Djava.security.auth.policy=<path to tomcat.policy>
    -Djava.security.auth.login.config=<path to auth.conf>
    My question are:
Is the .policy file mandatory and how to fill it ??
How to specify URLs in the file... No URLPermission class available...
How does my policy file be modified ??
    grant codebase "file://C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Tomcat 5.0/webapps/realms/index.jspx"  Principal * * {
      permission java.io.FilePermission "/admin/admin.jspx", "read";
    };Can you help me ??

    Hi,
you should look towards jGuard (http://www.jguard.net) which enable easy JAAS integration into J2EE webapps on your application server (including tomcat).
it provides also taglibs, URLPermission and many others things.
    cheers,
    Charles(jGuard team).

  • Crystal Reports access to SAP/CRM 6.0 with Integration with SAP Solutions

    Hello,
we are running Crystal Reports 2008 with SAP CRM 6.0.
To boost productivity or Report writeing we need especially access to:
    - Function Modules
    - the CRM Business Objects Repository (Transaction SW01).
What kind of SAP/CRM  ( or SAP / ERP )  Objects can be accessed with the Integration for
    SAP Solutions ?
The BO Documentation  [BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions User's Guide|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31SP2/en/xi31_sp2_bip_sap_user_en.pdf]  does not give a clue if this is possible.
However,  Ingo Hilgefort stated in his book that it is at least possible to access  ABAP Functions, SAP Querries and SAP InfoSets.

  • ADF BC entitiy object security and Tomcat 5.5

    Hello all,
I have set up ADF BC security in Jdev 10.1.3.3 and it works fine when I test the app module in JDev.
However, when I deploy the application to Tomcat 5.5, I get
oracle.security.jazn.JAZNRuntimeException: Configuration file does not exist. Check your JAAS configuration settings
It seems like oracle.security.jazn is used although I have configured the app module (configurations) parameters:
jbo.security.config - from default to my config file
jbo.security.context - to Tomcat implementation of JAAS
jbo.security.loginmodule - to Frank and Duncan's module (see article "Declarative J2EE authentication and authorization with JAAS).
Container managed security using JAAS in Tomcat is working fine.
I am wondering whether it is possible at all to use ADF BC security in any container other than OC4J and if the answer is positive, how it is done (configured).
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Boris

    Hi,
JAZN as a security platform isn't portable and thus wont work on Tomcat.

  • JAAS: location of Configuration, LoginModule classes

    Hi,
I've created a custom JAAS implementation (Configuration & LoginModule classes) for use in a web-environment (Tomcat + Expresso).
Question: at the moment, my set-up will only work with Tomcat and a very simple non-Expresso web-app, if and only if, I put the Configuration and LoginModule classes in the jre/lib/ext directory.
Is there a way to move the classes to WEB-INF/lib ? The reason for this would be that I would like to use specific Expresso classes in the LoginModule, that also need an environment (connection pool, etc.) to function properly.
Or would this generally be a stupid idea.
    TIA,
    Jaap

    Hi ...
Interested from your posting, seems successfully implemented JAAS using Tomcat.
I have exception ... cannot instantiate LoginConfiguration. Seems no solution till date.
Could you share the procedures to implement JAAS to Tomcat (4, I pressumed) ?
    TIA.

  • Tomcat  can ....?

    hi all,
Can anybody give a summary of " how to handle Clustering ,load balancing and JAAS using tomcat"?
    I am using tomcat 5.0.28
    Thanks in adv.

    Hello Robert,
You cannot get the reason of this without looking at logs. However, You can restart the service from CLI.
Here’s the list of UCCX utils commands which you can use it from CLI.
utils service [list start stop restart auto-restart]
This is the CLI command for service control.
The CLI command allows starting, stopping, and restarting of all the services as listed:
    System SSH
    Service Manager
    A Cisco DB
    Cisco Tomcat
    Cisco Database Layer Monitor
    Cisco Unified Serviceability
    Cisco CAR DB
    Service Manager
Cisco Unified CCX Cluster View Daemon
    Cisco Unified CCX Database
    Cisco Unified CCX Application Administration
    Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability Administration
    Cisco Unified CCX Engine
    Cisco Desktop Agent E-Mail Service
    Cisco Desktop Call/Chat Service
    Cisco Desktop Enterprise Service
    Cisco Desktop LDAP Monitor Service
Cisco Desktop License and Resource Manager Service
Cisco Desktop Recording and Playback Service
Cisco Desktop Recording and Statistics Service
    Cisco Desktop Sync Service
    Cisco Desktop VoIP Monitor Service
Cisco Desktop Browser and IP Phone Agent Service
    Cisco Unified CCX Notification Service
    Example:
admin: utils service start "Unified CCX Application Administration"
    Command successful.
Unified CCX Application Administration started successfully.
    =============================Command Syntax: ===================================
    utils service [option] [service-name]
    —The option to start/stop/restart etc.
—The service which is to be started/stopped or restarted.

  • JAAS and ServiceLocator

    Hi,
does JAAS authentication on the client somehow knock off the need for a ServiceLocator pattern?
    Scenario:
    1) I request reference to a stateful session ejb via ServiceLocator
    2) ServiceLocator authenticates with user "anonymous" and creates that ejb and returns the reference to it, as well as my "subject" object.
    3) I make some calls using Subject.Doas
    4) at some point, I decide to switch identity, therefore re-authenticating to the server
    5) I do method calls on the same ejb as before
Doubts about ServiceLocator pattern integration with JAAS:
    a) in this scenario, ServiceLocator looks up the bean for me. Have I got to provide any URL for logging in also ? I guess I must somehow decide - just as with EJBs - where to find the server to authenticate to, am I right ? If yes, will I need to write servicelocator functionality for looking up the "URL" of the service/server to authenticate to ?
If I need no URL for logging in, then this doubt is of no importance
    b) in step 4, I decide to switch identity by re-authenticating to the server. Well - same problem: ServiceLocator gave me the proper EJB reference. So I guess it should also know - and only ServiceLocator should know - where to re-authenticate to.
    The most important doubt:
    c) to call methods on EJBs in this way, I have to use the Subject.doAs(subject, action) construct. This means that I will have to define one action object for each method which can be called on the stateful sessoin EJB by the client. For creating my stateful session EJB, then, I could create a "create" action right away, without the ServiceLocator needing to be involved. That "create" action would hand me back the reference to the EJB, and I could authenticate prior to doing that. In fact, only the "create" action needs to access ServiceLocator functionality with this design. So - is it still useful for anything ?
How would you combine ServiceLocator pattern with JAAS, in the case of the above scenario ?
    Thanks,
    J

  • Cannot add BW SAP system in CMC Authentication\Entitlement System

    Hi,
I've re-installed Edge XI 3.1 SP3, Explorer/Polestar SP2 and finally SAP Integration Kit SP3 on Windows 2008 & SQL Server 2008 after a consultant came onsite to do this 4 months ago.  I wanted the practice and its a pilot installation only.
I cannot seem to add my SAP BW Dev system to the Entitlement system from within the CMC - Authentication - SAP section however.  I 've got the .dll's in the right places, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Integration Kit. restarting the Tomcat server, etc to no avail.  I've also had a read of Ingo's blog and am sure I've followed all his steps correctly.
Can this only be a case of not following the installation correctly or am I missing something else?  Any help appreciated please.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I've had success in getting the Entitlement System connected.
Basically on top of completely uninstalling everything SAP and BO related, renaming folders to .OLD and rebooting, then installing Edge and SAP GUI....I then followed these steps before installing Integration Kit:
To install InfoView automatically, you must install and configure SAP Java Connector components:
To do this, copy librfc32.dll and librfc32u.dll, to the appropriate folder.
    u2022 On 32-bit Windows: %windir%\system32
    u2022 On 64-bit Windows: %windir%\sysWOW64
    Copy sapjcorfc.dll to <BusinessObjects install directory ..\win32_x86.
Then copy sapjco.jar to the application serveru2019s shared library folder. For example, on a 64-bit Windows system with Tomcat 5.5, copy sapjco.jar to H:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\Tomcat55\shared\lib
    N.B. Had to create folder shared\lib in H:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\Tomcat55.
    Rebooted.
This is similar to and in addition to Ingo's steps, however he does refer to the Integration Install guide, which is where the above is mostly taken from.
I could then UPDATE the new BW Dev system from the CMC and then see all available roles.
Thanks for your prompt advice and support Ingo.

  • JSF - Logoff

I'm looking for the best way to provide security to a JSF app. With JSP, I could check the session object to determine is the user was still active or valid, and if not I could just forward them to my logoff.jsp page. How can I do this in JSF effectively?
If I follow the JSF Navigation rules, then I can only navigate using action()'s, but this step comes after the constructor, the PVC's, and the ActionListeners. How can I check for the user to be logged in in the constructor and move directly to a navigation step for anything on my page?
Are there any best practices on using INCLUDE's for security sake at the top of JSF pages?
    Thanks.

You could use JAAS. Tomcat's Admin Web App does the same.
you could use Realms (XML file, Database,...)
    provide on index.jsp something like:
    <form method="POST" action='<%= response.encodeURL("j_security_check") %>'  name="loginForm">
            <input type="text" name="j_username" size="16" id="username"/>

    okay, now you need logoff.
use a button, like (<h:commandButton) and bind its action to a Backing Bean method
#{controllerBean.logoff} inside of logoff do like:
    public String logoff(){
// Invalidate the current session and create a new one
            HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest
            HttpSession session =  request.getSession();
            session.invalidate();
            session = request.getSession(true);
    return ("foo");
}I guess this the simplest way. But you also could enhance JSF infrastructure ViewHandler e.g
Or create a jsf component that checks the users. But each page must contain this tag (component)
    HTH.

    Hi Sanjay,
Does the Tomcat is in the local System?
If it is in local system try to run the application using
    <serverhost>://localhost:8080/......
    else for remote server
Its always safe to add an entry (alias name) in drivers/hosts file with the ip address of the server like
    2.2.3.2     myLocalServer
Now try to run and see.
    Thanks,
    Swathi
    PS:points are welcome:-)
