Intel AC7260 wireless hardware interrupt randomly

Hi,
My Intel AC7260 wireless hardware have someting wrong. It works fine until recently.
The bug occurs randomly, may be several hours. When that bug occurs, I have to reconnect my wifi or reboot my laptop to bring network back.
I check my kernel log, the most useful information like this:

I find a very similar problem as mine in this: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wire … 14360.html
and this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=172184
My kernel is 3.12.9  x86_64
-------30 Jan EST Edit------------------------
after tracking the email subscrib, I find that this problem is caused by PCIe power management, and may be a kernel fix is developing.
the email subscrib is here

  • T430s - [Solved?] Wireless hardware is not bound to transport driver (Centrino 6205, Win7x64)

    Hello,
after clean install of my new T430s using System Update everything worked quite well, except for terrible DPC latency when loading web pages (crapping sound). Therefore I changed LAN driver to 11.10.84.0 from Lenovo (83rw15ww) and latencies went down (this driver has been recommended in some online forum).
Few days later I was on WiFi and latency spiked up again, but this time all the time above 8000µs - even when idle. I started to play with devices in Device Manager and ultimately reinstalled WiFi driver to Lenovo's 15.6.1, then Intel's 15.8.0. The most recommended driver from HP I was unable to install, so no harm there
Not sure when, but somewhere since this point I don't see wireless networks any more. Driver is fine (no yellow ? or !), wireless card is fine (replaced by spare one from my "HW guy"), all drivers has been reinstalled MANY times. When I try to add WLAN manually, Win7 says "Unexpected Error". Diagnostic tool from Intel says "Wireless hardware is not bound to transport driver". In Fn+F5 I see WiFi as off and I can't turn it on (unlike Bluetooth, which works well). Windows Diagnostics says there's an issue with a driver (sorry if I don't use exact words, my Win7 is not EN). I don't see this card anywhere in "ipconfig". There's no difference in diagnostics whether the wireless switch is on or off.
I read almost everything I was able to google about similar issues. I tried various drivers from both Lenovo (manual download from Lenovo website as well as using System Update) and Intel, both with and without Access Connections. I tried to remove the device from Device Manager and let Windows to find it again. I reinstalled LAN driver, tried to update BIOS (was already updated), tried to reset various stuff using "netsh" command, deleted Intel/Wireless dir in [username]/AppData, all this with/without reboots in between. Tried to play with card settings (in Device Manager), with power settings (both Windows and Power Manager), with on/off switch on a side of the laptop. I tried System Restore, which ended by error for all meaningful points. Nothing. All this on 3 different WLAN networks (2.4 GHz).
My last thought is to reinstall Windows from scratch, but it takes me at least 2 whole days to set everything up as I use a boatload of different work stuff for different customers.
My current WiFi driver, according to Driver tab in Device Manager for Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205, is 15.4.1.1 from January 23, 2013 (thru System Update). The more current one from Intel is 15.7.0.3 from April 18, 2013.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions, tips or help.
    EDIT
Just for the heck of it I switched wireless ON at home and suddenly my home WiFi network appeared in Win7 WiFi management (no AC). The last driver I installed was thru System Update, twice. Never restarted immediately, always after a while.
So I ran System Update again and it offered me available driver for WiFi (again!) and Access Connections. The online utility from Intel also offered me available drivers. I still have WiFi driver 15.4.1.1 (23.1.2013). To be honest I'm little affraid to update one or the other, as I did it so MANY times in past 30 hours with no effect.
The only difference I noticed is a new wireless device was available - Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter. It may be because of my Checkpoint Endpoint Security VPN software, but last time I saw this adapter was just before I lost all the wireless networks.
As much as I'm relieved it's working again, as a programmer I'm not happy about it, because I don't know WHY it's working now, when I didn't do anything for it since my last try. I only kept the wireless switch off for a fair amount of time.
Oh, and DPC latency stays below 300µs (up to 500µs is OK).

    hey smarmytime,
    let me get this right
laptop+router+modem (via cable) = connection working fine
laptop+modem (via cable) = connection goes wonky
laptop+wireless = works halfway then poofs
The wireless of yours comes from a Router+Wifi or is it coming from a Modem+Wifi set ?
If it's coming from a Modem+Wifi set, then try the following.
    1- turn off wireless
2- reset modem to factory setting (make sure wireless is off)
3- key in the necessary info to make a connection.
    4. switch wifi off on laptop
    5. connect laptop to modem via cable.
Does it connect ? Does it go poof halfway?
After that, turn on the wireless for both modem and laptop, try connecting again. Does it connect ? Does it go poof halfway?

  • MSI 945GCM5-F V2 FSB 1333 / hardware interrupts

I struggle bigtime with hardware interrupts on this MB.
On the MB i got a Samsung spinpoint 320GB sata2 disk, a standard dualcore intel and 2GB corsair RAM
    Latest BIOS.
Tried to update drivers for everything, the disk is running with DMA (UDMA5)
I ran out of ideas, so I'm hoping someone have a few?
When it happens always core#0 uses 90-100% cpu and it lags/freezes the computer in a different way than if I use almost 100% load on a task.
I'm suspecting the MB, since it don't have much connected to it.....

On the PCI-slot I think it says 200, but it's hard to see.
I asked for the ERP number, because there are quite a few boards with the model number MS-7267.  The ERP number is one possible way to keep them appart.  If the ERP number of you board is in fact 200 you have the right BIOS (If it was 170, BIOS v17.7 [=vH.7] would be the wrong one):

Just 15A on the +12v rail? Try with a better PSU.
Considering the fact, that he uses the onboard graphics chip with just an E2200, one HDD and one ODD connected to the board, 15A @12V may be just enough to power this configuration.  Of course, the question is always if a given PSU really holds what it promises on the PSU sticker.  Even for a 400W device, 15A is not a whole lot (a 450W Corsair PSU for example has a 33A-Limit).  The PSU is not my first suspicion in your case, but I agree to AaronJuri, that NorthQ Device looks weak enough to consider testing a better one just to rule out the possibility that your problem is in any way PSU related.
asdfsdf, a couple of more question and suggestions:
    Questions:
    -What OS are you using?
-Is that fresh installation of the OS or is it taken from another system?
-Did you update the BIOS yourself at any point, and if you did, how did you do it and did you clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU after the flash?
-Are (IO)APIC and ACPI enabled in BIOS?
    Suggestions:
    1. Clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU and load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS after restarting your system.
--> Test if the problem still occurs. If it does, do this:
    2. Unplug your SATA Optical Drive from both PSU & board, remove all USB Devices and Disable the following peripherals in BIOS:
    - USB Controller & USB Legacy Support (Use PS2 Keyboard & Mouse for testing
    - OnBoard LAN Controller
    - HD Audio Controller
    - LAN Option ROM
    - OnBoard IDE Controller
    - OnBoard Floppy Controller
    - COM Port & Parallel Port
    - Intel EIST
    - Spread Spectrum
    - Auto Disable DIMM/PCI Frequency
Retest and see if there are any changes.  If the lags disappear, re-enable each Device/function in BIOS (one by one) to find out, which one causes the problem.

  • Intel AC7260 wifi + bluetooth in win 7 64bit

Hi, I bought the Intel AC7260 dual + Bluetooth v4. Downloaded the latest Intel drivers and installed them.
My problem is that it does not show the Intel driver in the device manager. It just shows Generic Bluetooth Adapter
and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator. How do I get the Intel driver(2014) to work instead of the generic Driver (2006) which is so far out of date?

    Hi,
As I known, Device Manager provides you with a graphical view of the hardware that is installed on your computer.
It may not be the driver name.
Please find if there is unknow device showing up after you plug the  Intel AC7260 dual + Bluetooth v4 and check hardware changes in Device manager, and then, right click to open the properties, under Driver tab, choose update
drivers and then manually locate the driver file on your local computer to see what's going on.

  • X61s Hardware Interrupt up to 40% of CPU resource

Hello, i recently updated my harddrive of my x61s to a  seagate Momentus ST9320421ASG 7200.3 GForce - 320GB 7200rpm 16MB. After that i have done  fresh Installation with Windows XP Professional on the new drive twice!! Each time when i finish installation i begin to get a wired Hardware Interrupt with constantly eats up to 40% of my cpu resource and cuts my battery life to half. i have tried to deactived the component one after another in order to locate the problem(which componet is sending the interrupt). But i found nothing. And the interrupt does not start right away when i boot into XP. it starts sometimes later after login or start some programms like opera or Firefox browser. Does anyone has an idea about this issue? BTW, i already use the system update to get all my drivers and bios to the newst version. Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

T his issue annoyed me for a long time , but final!! eventually !!! i fixed it!
its because of the latest intel display dirver.
so everyone just need to download an older one.

  • X200 Hardware Interrupts constantly at 40% of CPU resources

As many other thinkpad owners I started to experience excessive "Hardware Interrupts" using between 40-45% of my CPU resources (on both cores) on my x200. Note that Task Manager will _not_ show this, you will need something like Microsoft's "Process Explorer" to show this. This started about a week ago, following a slew of updates I had been rolling in from "System Update" on my Vista x64 Business.
I searched the Internet high and low and found many similar experiences (not only with Lenovo models, not only with Vista). Obviously, it is nearly impossible to find out what's causing this.  There is a useful tool called "KrView" by Microsoft that will display more info about which driver is causing the interrupts, but unfortunately it does not run under Vista x64.There is also an on-board Vista tool that allows you to check for unsigned drivers but that didn't seem to be the problem (all drivers were certified ok).
Other have reported problems with their network drivers where such interrupts would occur as soon as they turn on WiFi. Some were successful by removing their installation of Deamon Tools (which I have not installed, so that didn't help).Others suggested hard disk drivers or CD-ROM driver issues.
I thus tried to home in on the probably culprit, and found the following puzzling effect: This only occurs when my x200 is in the docking station! After a clean startup, it will be nice and idle for some time, but after some 5 minutes it will start to constantly show the 40-45% of "Hardware Interrupts." Once this happens, it almost never goes back down, even if you undock it. However, if you _start_ the system in an undocked state, the "Hardware Interrupts" do not appear!! I even tried to manually connect all the different pieces that I have attached to my docking station one by one to my undocked laptop (e.g., network cable, external keyboard and mouse, USB harddisk) - none did trigger this. But as soon as you redock your laptop, it will spike up again to its 40-50% "Hardware Interrupts".
I _assume_ that it might be the display driver that causes this, as this is the only piece of hardware that I couldn't "test" on my standalone laptop: I use a displayport cable to connect by 24" monitor, and the x200 does not have a connector for this... I tried installing the latest Intel graphics drivers but the won't install and tell me that I must use the OEM lenovo versions. I also could not "rollback" the driver (option greyed out) and the old driver version doesn't seem to be available on the lenovo post...
Alternatively, it might be some sort of "docking station driver" that's causing this. Although I'm not sure what this driver would be and how to update it :-(
    Any hints? (sorry, ultra-long post)

And this is the kernrate log after I uninstalled the sata controller from control panel. No CPU load.
I restarted the machine after removing the sata controller and it installed the controller again, it has prompted me to reboot again to finish the installation but I haven't done that yet. Until now, no high load has happened.

  • Error code 10 for Intel 5300 Wireless Card

    Hi,
I tried to install a new Intel 5300 Wireless Card in my Thinkpad T400.
However, it is not very successful.
After I installed the driver, I find a yellow exclamation point on the 5300 Wireless Card on the device manager and an error code 10 (can't start device).
I have tried to re-install the driver but still no luck.
    Could anyone help for this?
    Thanks a lot
Here is some information might be useful:
    Operating System: Windows XP (SP3)
    Driver download from Lenovo:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70504
Wireless Card bought from ebay (The seller said this card can support IBM/LENOVO T400).

Unless the card is a Lenovo Branded card, it won't work.  But since you aren't complaining about an error in BIOS about an unauthorized card, then you also might have put it in the wrong slot.
Check the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your particular system and make sure you have it in the WLAN slot, not the WWAN slot.

    Hi.
I've bought the Lenovo N581 with the i5.
I wanted to upgrade my w lan card, so i bought an original intel centrino wireless-n 2200, which is compatible with my laptop ''accourding to Lenovo''.
the only thing that happens when i start the laptop is ... NOTHING!!!
    i get this warning :
Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI netwok card!!!
    Can anybody help me?

Oracle Linux and the Oracle UEK kernel are optimized for server installations and have only limited support for Laptop and Desktop hardware. However, support for your Wifi adapter should be installed by default. You might want to check the following:
    # yum list ipw2200-firmware
    Loaded plugins: security
    Installed Packages
    ipw2200-firmware.noarch   3.1-4.el6    @anaconda-OracleLinuxServer-201302251503.x86_64/6.4
    # modprobe ipw2200
    # lsmod | grep ipw2200

  • MSI GE60 0ND and Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth

I recently bought a Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth Adapter (Model Number: 7260HMW) for my MSI GE60 0ND to replace the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135.
Wifi works without any problem, but bluetooth does not, even with the newest Intel drivers v3.1.1309.
The bluetooth device isnt even listed in the device manager - there are also no unknown devices.
I´m using Windows 8 - also tried Windows 8.1 and a Fedora 20 Live-CD with the same result.
There is no bluetooth device listed.
Could it be possible that bluetooth function of the Intel 7260HMW is somehow disabled in the bios?

I tried the Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth Adapter in a Desktop Asus Maximus V Gene using a mPcie Combo-Adapter. Wifi and Bluetooth worked without any issue.
The Intel 7260 is definitly working.
Another issue regarding my MSI GE60:
I switched back to my Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135 and still have no bluetooth functionality. I thought it would be a driver issue, but there are still no bluetooth devices listed in the device manager Windows 8.1). Under Linux Fedora 20 are also no bluetooth devices present.
It seems like bluetooth is somehow hardware disabled. In bios are no bluetooth options visible
Edit: Using Fedora and FN-Key + F9 enabled bluetoth for the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135 again. Maybe when the SCM / FN-Key Application will work under Windows 8.1, enabling/disabling bluetooth using Windows 8.1 will be possible too

  • T61 - Intell 4965AGN - Wireless radio is powered off

I am getting to wits end trying to get my wifi connection to work.  I NEED HELP!!!
I just purchased a Lenovo T61.  It came with Vista which I despise!!!!  So I decided to install XP.  I didn't want to eliminate Vista since I develop programs for windows and want to keep Vista around for testing purposes.  I partitioned the hard drive and installed Windows XP Pro SP2.   After about 3 weeks of research and installs, un-installs and re-installs and then finally getting ThinkVantage Update installed and letting it get everything updated I think I have a pretty good setup.  Except for the wifi adapter.
The computer came with the two LAN connections.  A gigabit adapter for wired connections and an Intell 4965AGN wifi adapter.  I am using ThinkVantage Access Connections.  I prefer to keep this because I use the laptop at home, work and on the road.  Access Connections gives me the capability to save a separate IP configuration for each location.  That is worth a lot.
The wifi switch on the front of the T61 is switched on.  If I bring up Fn-F5 it shows the "Hardware Wireless Radio Switch" as ON.
I am able to get the gigabit connection to work without issue.  But I can't get the wifi adapter to work.  If I bring it up on Device Manager I see the 4965AGN under Network Devices.  If I bring up the Properties dialog it shows "Wireless On" on the Advanced tab and the Driver tab lists a driver version 11.5.0.36 dated 11/27/2007.  The toolbar shows the wifi icon with a red X showing that it is not connected.  If I click on "View Wireless Connections" I get the message that Windows cannot manage that wireless connection.
So I start Access Connections and start setting up a new wireless connection.  I identify the connection as wireless and move to the second page titled "Enter wireless network configuration:".  I give it an SSID and click on "Find Network".  I immediately get a pop-up stating "The wireless radio is powered off.  Do you want to power it on?".  I click on "Yes" and that dialog goes away.  But nothing on the entry page changes.  None of the drop downs are populated.  If I click on "Find Network" again I get the same message.
I have tried re-loading the wifi drivers from the Lenovo web page with no change.  How can I fix this?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think I have a solution to this. It worked for me. I wandered into this forum and found people with the same issues. I have just fixed my R61i. It was a Vista which I downgraded to an XP ( it was doing my head in)..
Everything went well, apart from the wireless not showing in access... it worked, but only outside. I too LOVE the access program.
This is how I fixed it..
    I went here
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62875
I then downloaded the patch and installed it. I was curious in that the "Intel Proset Wireless Software was NOT in my program list (under Add/Remove Software)
I ran the install (its clear in the instructions where to find it) page 3 under Manual install.
I restarted and ping... up came a new icon, and gone was the initial freeze at startup time (which was happening every now and again)
I love my R61i. I love it even better now it works under XP and works with access. Although Mine is an R61i  A lot of T models are listed at the top of the solution. Print off the  full text and read it whilst you work through.. Good Luck
I have registered just to pass this on because a few of you above seemed stumped, just like I was.

  • Intel pro wireless card can not connect

Since some weeks, i can not use my wireless network, it does not associate the access point.
The cared is a intel pro, using the agn driver.
I can not connect to my wep key protected home network, or public, unprotected accesspoints.
I tried various parameters with iwconfig, without success, so I assume the kernel module is broken.
    Any help would be appreciated.

sredna wrote:Yes, I read the wiki page. Yes, everything is installed. It worked for a long time. I read the various manuals. I do it the correct, recomended way. It just does not work.
Rather than blaming devs for putting out faulty software, if I were you I'd look at myself - the PEBKAC problem . So an upgrade broke it. When was this? What packages where upgraded? Check your pacman log (yes, it exists).
You are aware the module name for Intel's wireless cards changed? Instead of referring to the card model it's now iwlcore and iwlagn. But then again, if you let udev figure it out, there shouldn't be the slightest problem in that upgrade.
Care to share any of your cherished errors? Without them there's not much we can do. The BBS has been out of crystal bowls for a long time.
Dear mr. B, I do not blame anybody anything. I report, as is, it does not work. On my system, in the hope that someone have something meaningful to say, not because I hoped for you to call me names. I do not know what your acronym means, and I do not wish to find out, since it appearently is there to make me less. I do not care for that.
The kernel modules that are loaded on my system, and was back when I had working wifi support, are iwlcore and iwlagn. I do not know that the iwlwifi-4965-ucode package is used for anything, I installed it because the before-mentioned wiki page recommends that, and I did get working support. I do not try to configure it by hand, I trust udev/hal/whatever is there to handle the hardware.
But, sorry for repeating, since some time, I can not connect to an access point. No matter if I try cli commands or use wicd or networkmanager applets. The result appears to be the same, there is no error from iwconfig, which does not succeed.
I can't even remember the date it went wrong, but i know that the kernel was updated as a part of that particular update. rolling back the kernel did not help though.

  • Using ioctl to wait for hardware interrupt in user space in Petalinux

I have a custom Network device driver for a device that generates two hardware interrupts, one every 20 ms and another every second. I have a separate interrupt handler registered for each interrupt. Each interrupt handler does nothing more than call "up" on a semaphore. There is a different semaphore associated with each interrupt.
I want a user-space program to be notified when the interrupt occurs, so I have an ioctl defined with two commands. One is a command to wait for the 20 ms  interrupt and the other is a command to wait for the 1 second interrupt. In each case, the ioctl routine simply calls down_interruptible on the corresonding semaphore (the same semaphore modified by the interrupt handlers).
In my user-space program, I create two pthreads. Each has an infinite loop to call each of the two ioctls described above.
I am seeing that the user-space thread that waits for the 1 second interrupt is going to sleep and seems to be blocking the overall process. When the 1 second interrupt comes in, the thread wakes up and, in the process of handling the interrupt, allows the other thread to be tasked. The result is that exactly one 20 ms interrupt is handled each second, whenever a 1 second interrupt fires.
I have tried enabling the O_NONBLOCK mode on the socket, but this did not make any difference. I'm not sure how to allow the second thread to continue to run, even while the first thread is asleep. Seems like this is the whole point of using pthreads.
    Any help would be appreciated.

So, the issue was that I was trying to implement the ioctl in a network device. When you call ioctl on a socket, it apparently blocks the process until the ioctl completes.
I implemented a character device inside my network driver and used this to handle the ioctls instead. Once I did this, I found that only the calling thread blocked on ioctl, not the entire process.

  • Intel ProSet Wireless Picks Up Noisy Broadcasts

I am running 4400 Cisco wireless lan contoller with roughly 60 lightweight Access Points. When using the Intel ProSet Wireless client utility for our Intel wireless adapters the utility is picking up all the individual lightweight access points and listing them as <SSID not broadcast> and as a valid access point. Other wireless clients don't pickup what the Intel does. Is this something I can control on the 4400? The end users is seeing 20 to 60 wireless connections which is not true.

First of all this is a user to user forum and the question like Why the drivers are update not faster makes no sense. What we can do is to provide some suggestions which could solve some issues
Back to your issue; I think you should simply check the Intel page and should install the latest, available WLan driver for this minPCI WLan card.
    Furthermore you can choose between 2 different WLan configuration possibilities;
    1) you can use the Windows own configuration option
    2) You can use an WLan configuration client like Intel ProSet Utility
If you use the Intel ProSet Utility then the Windows own option must be disabled.
As last but not least you should check if all the settings in the Wireless LAN TCP/IP protocol are set to automatic.
    By the way; if you use the XP then you should install this patch;
