Interesting issue in PS CS5.

Doing some testing with CS5 to see if a move is worthy from CS4, I have come across a weird issue. When running liquefy, the screen does not auto update as you work, but shows the edits after you hit OK. I cannot find a solution for this, nor any mentions of this on the net. Any ideas? Using an Intuos 4 on Win 7 Pro x64. Everything else works fine.

Issues deactivating my CS5 Suit while trying to uninstall it

I need to format my macbook, so I'm having issues deactivating my CS5 Suit while trying to uninstall it, to reinstall it after the format has been completed. Anyone know whats going on?

you must deactivate before uninstalling and reformatting.
open a cs5 program>click help>deactivate.

Issues installing Photoshop CS5 in my Mac Book Pro

I have heard that there are issues installing Photoshop CS5 in case sensitive Snow Leopard drives. How do I know if I have a case sensitive drive. I was able to download the 30 trial version of Photoshop CS5. My file system is listed as - Journaled HFS+. Is anyone familiar with this issue and will I have this issue installing Photoshop CS5 on my Mac? Thanks.

As you had already downloaded the installer, give it a try. Well if your file system is Journaled HFS+ installer will not report any error related to file system.
To check the file system -
Finder > File > New Finder Window
Select only the volume under Devices for which you wish to get the file system information.
File > Get Info
Under General tab check Format:
I believe it would be just "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" in your case. For case-sensitive it would be like -
"Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)" or "Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive)"

Issues with transferring CS5 project with Adobe Dynamic Links to CS5.5

Hello all!
Has anybody encountered the issue with transferring CS5 projects with Adobe Dynamic Links to CS5.5?
When I try to do it the movie hangs on at some clips which are AE compositions...
The CS5 project works perfectly.
All AE CS5 compositions are transerred to AE CS5.5 compositions.
All 'old' Adobe Dynamic Links in Pr CS5.5 project are changed to 'new' ones (I mean, links to AE CS5 composition changed to links to AE CS5.5 compositions)...
Any help will be appreciated

Tried to play around. Realised that a solution should be somewhere around re-rendering, 'cos linked AE compositions were always displayed in yellow as if they were original footages - even I changed a composition within AE, just transitions, if they were, changed to red in Pr Pro sequence...
However, I was unable to re-render 'Entire Work Area' even after deleting all Render Files, just 'Effects in Work Area'...
Then I simply created a new sequence and copied and pasted all the clips from original sequence. Now I was allowed to 'Render Entire Work Area'.
Voilà!

     This is one of the interesting issue which has to be resolved.
A value has been passed from Siebal to SAP-R/3, which is received by a parameter in a R/3 report program.
Based on the value of the parameter, some output has to be displayed.
For receiving the value from Siebal to R/3 we have to type the following Statement in the RUN Command

The above code gives the R/3 System, Client, IP Address, User ID, Transaction Code & Parameter ID
My Program is having a parameter & a write stmt which is displaying some value based on the parameter option.
A transaction code has been created to the above program.
If we watch the above command, we will be having the transaction code as command & the parameter name as p_srno.
Requirement :
    Once when the command is executed in the Run Option, the transaction is executed and the parameter is passed & on
execution (F8), the value given in the write option is displayed.
    But the actual requirement is the parameter screen should not appear, the value in write should be processed & the
result should be output based on parameter's value.
    If we give the NO-DISPLAY option of parameter, the value is not assigned to the parameter variable.
How to resolve this issue friends?

Hi Usha,
I think this depends on your program behind transaction ZSRI1. How are you calling the program in there? If you're calling a standard transaction, can't you just put a skip first screen there?

Interesting Issue

I am having an interesting issue using 2 spa3102, some grandstream bt200 phones, asterisk and 2 PSTN lines. The 2 spa3102 are setup to send incoming pstn calls to 2 of the bt200s, the PSTN Line does not have call waiting and it has been disabled on spa3102,routed through asterisk and in asterisk also outgoing calls are routed to the ATAs. The interesting thing that happens sometimes is that both lines would be in use and a third call would still beable to come in and ring on any of the bt200s assign for doing this which is not on the phone. When someone hears this ringing and tries to pick up the call using the asterisk *8 it would cut into the call of the person who is currently on the line that the call came in on. The weird thing is like i said the call waiting on both ATA and Line itself has been deisabled. I am not able to replicate this issue and it always seems that when i am not around this happens. Cannot get any logs or debugging info concerning this. I am using asteriskwin32 pbx on a windows xp pc. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any suggestions? Any advise?

Better isolate the cause of the problem. Try using a different SIP server like FWD so as to rule out a possibility that it is your Asterisk server causing it. Why can’t you get any debugs on it? You can just leave the debug running even if you are not around. Lastly, try the latest firmware on the Linksys site.

Issue with InDesign cs5 and network files.

On Mavericks having issues with InDesign CS5. When trying to open a file from an smb netwrok drive it goes into Not responding.
have tested InDesign working correctly with local files.
have tried removing, SING folder. tried reinstalling.
all updates on OS and adobe InDesign have been installed.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

CS5 is unsupported under Mavericks.

QT vs MP4 Issues - Mac PP CS5 - AJA Kona LHi - JVC GY-HM700U

I have sourced an hours worth of 1080i footage with my JVC HM700U in the Quicktime format (Sony XDCAM-EX). This footage plays pay perfectly in Final Cut Pro with the Kona Card. In PP CS5, the footage stutters, has horrible audio issues, and is just not "ready for prime-time"
However, using the same camera, but sourcing footage in the MP4 format - PP CS5 plays out the files with no issues at all. Is there a known bug with PP5 and Quicktime? I know the AJA card is working fine, as it works with FCP.
I have installed all the latest drivers, software updates and plug ins for both Premiere and Kona (updated within the past two days).
Any ideas?

Yes, I am on a MAC -- The 64 bit Nature of PPCS5 certainly is a factor here. The interesting part of this for me is that none of these manufacturers really state this shortcoming in their marketing. JVC says their workflow is seemless into both applications PPro and Final Cut.
AJA said they have not seen any issues with Quicktime and Premiere--- and Adobe has been promoting their acceptance of QT since last September.
It just doesnt work correctly. Would love to hear if anyone else shares this experience.
One BIG positive so far-- The combination of The Mercury Engine and Cuda renders at lightning speed... I just rendered a 10 Minute H264 hi def movie in less than three minutes out of PPro -- blows away FCP as of now...

Performance issues with ID CS5

Am working on netowkred Windows XP Pro Intel Core 2 6300 1.83GHz 3 MB RAM computer and just installed CS5 Premium.
Am having issues with moving linked objects such as eps or jpegs (especially larger ones or grouped bunches of small jpeg pictures at once)
Have set preferences to Proxy and lowest display settings but does not help
Am not able to position the grouped items as they jump all over the place, and moving is very choppy even with smaller groups or single ai files.
There are 3 of us here with all same computer specs and we are all have same issue.
Any suggestions?

The 7.0.3 update is supposed to help with this, but the primary way to work around this is to open the preferences and set Live Screen Drawing to Delayed.
EPS images can also put a drag on performance, and are a dprecated format. Native .psd or .ai files are preferred.

Anyone having issues with InDesign (CS5) and Suitcase Fusion 3 (Mac)?

I've run into a problem that I think might be caused by Suitcase Fusion 3 [Version 14.2.0 (319)], but I'm wondering if anyone here is having any issues with InDesign and Suitcase Fusion like I am?
Just about every time I launch an InDesign document or an Illustrator document (don't seem to have the issue in Photoshop, strangely enough) it pretty much crashes to the point where it's a force quit. Before anyone asks the question, this is what I've done - I've reformatted my hard disk (even writing 0s!), done a clean install of Lion (10.7.3), clean install of Creative Suite 5 (and updates), clean install of Suitcase (and updates)...you get the idea. I'm still ending up with crashing just about every time I open a document in these two apps.
As an experiment I downloaded a (fully functioning) trial version of FontAgent Pro (which I didn't like, btw) and didn't encounter any crashing at all in either application.
I've opened a ticket with Adobe to see if they have any details as to whether this is a known conflict or whatever (though I don't hold much hope for getting help from them since it's looking more like a Suitcase issue than a Creative Suite one).
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to try and resolve this?
I'm in the middle of producing two magazines and I really really don't need this! Lol

As you said, if this is happening when you have only manually activated fonts, then the auto-activation isn't coming into play which does lead me to think it is related to the plug-in generally and maybe the sleep issue, which you say you definitely have. So I've added you to the sleep issue tracking.
If you find yourself coming back from putting the computer to sleep and the apps with Suitcase plugins have hung, do this:
1)      Go to your spotlight and type in "activity"
2)      Launch "Activity Monitor"
3)      Highlight the name of the adobe/quark application that is hanging by clicking it.
4)      Click the "Sample Process" button at the top of the screen.
5)      Click the "Save" button.
6)      Click the "Save" button again and save the file to your desktop.
7)      This will generate a file such as " Sample of Adobe Illustrator CS5.txt"
8)      Repeat this process with any other application that is hanging.
9)      Highlight the "FMCore" process by clicking it.
10) Click the "Sample Process" button at the top of the screen.
11) Click the "Save" button.
12) Click the "Save" button again and save the file to your desktop.
13) This will generate a file named " Sample of FMCore.txt"
14) Place these files along with the ".Plugins.txt" files created earlier into a new folder called "Plugins"
15) Right click (control+click) to compress into a .zip file.
Please attach this zip in reply to this mail.
When we are sure of a fix, we'll get back to you. In the meantime here are some workarounds:
Option 1:
1)      Back up your font sets by dragging them to the desktop
2)      Remove SF3 v14.2 by following the instructions here:

3)      Download and re-install Suitcase Fusion 3 (version 14.0.6) from:

4)      Are there fonts and font sets in your old font vault you would like to recover?
If NO :
a)      Open SF3
b)      Simply drag and drop your original fonts into the SF3 "Font Library". This will copy the fonts into a new font vault.
If YES : Restore your old fontvault from the backup the removal tool created
a)      If you choose "Y" to KEEP your font vault earlier when you ran the removal script, on your desktop you will find a folder called "Extensis-Backup-today's date" that contains a backup of your previous suitcase fusion 3 fontvault.
b)      Move your old font vault from the "Extensis-Backup-today's date" folder on your desktop into this folder:
/Users/[your username]/Library/Extensis/Suitcase Fusion/Suitcase Fusion.fontvault
c)       Launch SF3 from your dock. you should now see all your old fonts and font sets.
Option 2:
Remove our auto-activation plugins and activate your fonts manually in SF3 and/or add your adobe/quark apps to the SF3 > Preferences > General > Global Auto-Activation Options list. here's how:
1)      In SF3: choose Suitcase Fusion 3 > Manage Plugins
2)      Uncheck the boxes for adobe/quark apps; this will remove our auto-activation plugins
3)      Choose SF3 > Preferences > General
4)      Under "Global Auto-Activation Options", press the "+" button to add your adobe/quark apps
Please note that "global auto-activation" is less accurate than our plugin-based auto-activation. Double check your font usage in your design app to confirm the correct font was loaded after opening a document.

Line alignment issue in InDesign CS5

Hi all,
After many fruitless hours of Googling, I'm really, really hoping to find some help here with a small InDesign CS5 issue I'm having. I'll try and keep this brief.
I'm currently designing a book in InDesign CS5 that has chapters that run one after the other. Whereas in most books a new chapter will start on a new page, here they flow together. For each chapter heading, I'm using a font called Orial, size 18. For the main text, I'm using Adobe Garamond Pro, size 12. When I have two solid pages of 12 point Adobe Garamond Pro, all is well. The alignment of lines on both pages are level with one another. That's just what I want.
However, if I have a double page spread and one of the pages has an 18pt Orial title on it (within all the 12pt Adobe Garamond Pro), this throws things out of whack, as you can see in the image below:
As you can see, the lines on page 79 are not level with those on page 78. Is there any way around this?

You'd have better luck posting this in the InDesign forum. However, I'll tell you right off the bat: what you want is "Snap to Baseline Grid." If you check out the help files on the baseline grid, you'll see that you have a lot of options (some of which are in Edit -> Preferences -> Grids). Read the help files, or just try searching Google with the name of the feature, then try it out, and come to the InDesign forum if there are parts of this feature that don't make sense to you.

Lost file associations (Not the old version issue) Win 7 & CS5

Something corrupted my installation of CS5 a month or so ago after it had been working correctly and I lost all the image file associations. Photoshop worked fine but only if I directly opened files from within. Also all the other image packages were missing from the file association list in the Windows 7 file associations tool, not just Photoshop. Using the Windows tool to find the programmes dot exe file and create an association also locked up at the select the right package phase.
I have fixed this now and my reason for posting is that several previously suggested fixes in both the MS Windows fora and elsewhere on these Adobe forums were either very complicated requiring direct registry editing or didn't work. It has taken me a while to find a work-around that worked, hence this post.
1) Firstly - as is stated elesewhere the obvious answer of simply reinstalling Photoshop over the existing copy doesn't work! Unfortunately it was a while before I found this out, with several time wasting retries of this as a fix attempt.
2) Not saying this is guaranteed to work in every case but I ran a 3rd party free Registry Cleaner tool, this appears to have fixed the bug in the registry allowing the Windows 7 File Associations tool to work properly again. Once that was fixed linking up each graphic type was simple.
Reason for posting is I wasted lots of time thinking the issue must have been a legacy from my earlier instal of a trial version of Master Suite or the older Photoshop 7 being replaced even though my CS5 edition had been working Ok for some time. because this is what is given as the usual cause. However I think in my case it was after loading and then deleting other graphics software, possibly Real Player, which had grabbed the associations and corruped registry settings somehow at uninstall. It appears registry cleaner restored the corruption and allowed the standard Win 7 tool to work again.
Hope this can help someone else.

First, let me say thanks to John for posting his experience here. I think that Adobe does a poor job of managing file associations, given that we do hear of a lot of folks who see them get fouled up due to doing normal things like uninstalling earlier versions.
I'd like to ask, though: Did you try using the Preferences - File Type Associations dialog in Bridge?

I am a career computer "geek", and yes, Curt's right: Registry cleaners in general are a terrible idea. There are a few that encompass some valuable functionality such as deletion of old files from TEMP folders, but that's something one can do on one's own as well.
It's simply impossible for the programmer of a piece of software to know what information can be safely deleted from YOUR file system or YOUR Windows registry, which is a database.
Nor is it necessary to "clean" a registry regularly, as some say, to keep a system working well. That's hype, propagated by the registry cleaner makers. I use a system every day that's on the same installation of Windows 7 that first went in at the end of 2009. It's stable and fast as ever. I've even done several hardware upgrades and restored the same OS setup using system image backups just to keep the same fully configured, perfectly working system.
Ever hear people claim they have to reinstall Windows every so often? One of the reasons could well be that they've used a registry cleaner.

So I am currently editing a documentary on Final Cut Pro 7.0.3
I work on Mac OS X Version 10.6.7
Processor: 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory: 16GB DDR3 1066 MHz
I shot with a Canon XF105.
I exported some shots that I wanted to edit or where I wanted to add animation (type banner presentation)
I have exported quicktime sequence for later import to After Effects CS5.
And when I have finished and I have exported those shots from After Effects, I find myself quite often with images that bug, much like when you re-record on a videotape at the time of VCRs.

I export in optimal rendering parameters, with the Quicktime Animation codec.
I really do not understand what the problem is due, I've never met before.
If you could help me, it would be great, because my deadline is approaching and I'm running out of ideas ...

The regularity of the patterns would suggest that these are decode errors in the MPEG stream, possibly a timecode issue. Can you open your footage natively in AE? Do you see the same artifacts then? Also what if you try other CoDecs like PNG or ProRes? In any case, double-check your framerate and export settings.

Radial fill gradient issue in Illustrator CS5

Recently created an illustration with an element — a compound path comprised of hundreds of small squares — filled with a radial gradient. The image displays properly, prints properly, and exports properly as a PDF. However, if I close the file and reopen it later, the element is no longer filled (although the fill is retained in the SWATCHES palette.

I am having the exact same problem. Illustator CS5 file previews correctly, saves to pdf correctly. But, when you close and reopen the Illustrator file, my gradient blend that was on the compound path is gone and the path is black. Gradient fill is still in my pallette and still assigned to another path in the file. Seems to be an issue with the compound path and the gradient fill. Any thoughts?
