InterMedia domain passivation

How do I solve this one?
oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.lang.RuntimeException, msg=Temp file can not be created by interMedia domain passivation.
## Detail 0 ##
java.lang.RuntimeException: Temp file can not be created by interMedia domain passivation.
I get it on commit after creating a new row in a ViewObject with an ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE attribute set. But only on a 9.2.0.1.0 database. It works fine when connected to 9.0.1.3.0.

No experience with interMedia. But there is a jbo.tempdir setting in the AM configuration.
I think it is normally used for spill to disk / storing AM state when jbo.passivationstore=file but perhaps it is also used for other stuff.
Perhaps try to set to a vaild directory where you and the end users have write access.
Regards, Markus

I am not quite sure what either of you are after, but if you hit the "Documentation" link on OTN you will find the documentation, such as the above list, for almost all of Oracle products. Most are available online in HTML format or PDF and some have a part number so that they can be ordered.
The 10g Developer Suite Documentation is here: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/dev10g.html

• ADF from JDeveloper 10.1.2 not compatible with iAS 9.0.1

Hi,
We developed an ADF Application with JDeveloper 10.1.2 and we use the ADF interMedia domains (e.g. oracle.ord.im.OrdDocDomain). The application runs fine in JDeveloper, but doesn't run on our iAS 9.0.4.1. We get the following exception:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/DatumWithConnection
at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:219)
at oracle.jbo.common.java2.JDK2ClassLoader.loadClassForName(JDK2ClassLoader.java:38)
at oracle.jbo.common.JBOClass.forName(JBOClass.java:161)

at oracle.jbo.server.MetaObjectManager.loadFromXML(MetaObjectManager.java:514)
[...rest of stacktrace omitted ...]
The problem is that the JDBC version of the iAS 9.0.4.1 is missing the class DatumWithConnection that is indirectly referenced by the interMedia classes supplied with JDeveloper 10.1.2.
In detail, oracle.ord.im.OrdDoc uses oracle.sql.STRUCT. The inheritance hierarchy of STRUCT is different in the JDBC versions on iAS 9.0.4.1 (oracle.sql.Datum <- oracle.sql.STRUCT) and JDeveloper 10.1.2 (oracle.sql.Datum <- oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection <- oracle.sql.STRUCT). The class file of oracle.ord.im.OrdDoc (from 10.1.2. JDeveloper) was apparently compiled the new JDBC driver version since it contains a reference to oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection. And that class cannot be found if run on iAS 9.0.4.1 with its old JDBC version.
I think this is a very serious problem, since it means that ADF from JDeveloper 10.1.2 is not compatible with iAS 9.0.4.1, in contradiction to the support matrix (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/as_supportmatrix.html).
Upgrading the JDBC Driver on the iAS seems to be the only clean solution for this problem (we also tried using old versions of the ordim.jar etc. but that always leads to other problems). But simply exchanging the JDBC jar-files on the server breaks the Enterprise Manager on our iAS installation.
I have two questions:
1) Is there a recommended workaround for the compatibility issue described above?
2) Is there a documented and supported way to upgrade the JDBC driver of iAS 9.0.4.1? I searched OTN and MetaLink and haven't found anything about this.
Kind Regards,
Kay
P.S. It is surprising that this problem is rarely mentioned in the OTN forums at all. The only relevant thread is on the JHeadstart Forum:
JHeadstart Deployment Issue
P.S.2
More info on what we tested:
We have thoroughly checked that the 10.1.2. ADF runtime was correctly deployed on our iAS 9.0.4.1. We installed a OC4J 9.0.4.0.0 standalone on the same linux machine as our iAS 9.0.4.1 and deployed our application on it, getting the same error (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/DatumWithConnection) as on the iAS. Replacing the JDBC drivers of the OC4J standalone with the version that came with JDeveloper 10.1.2 solved the problem.

I don't think that mixing classes from different jar file is a good idea. Nevertheless, we tested this approach already. Adding the DatumWithConnection.class from the 10.1.0.3.0 JDBC version to the jar file of the original JDBC version (of the iAS 9.0.4.1.0) caused a java.lang.VerifyError to appear.
The DatumWithConnection class is not simply added in the newer JDBC version. It is inserted into the inheritance hierarchy of oracle.sql.STRUCT and oracle.sql.Datum. Simply providing the new class next to the old JDBC driver will not work.
To give more information about what's wrong with updating the complete JDBC driver, I justed tested it again. To update the JDBC driver I stopped the server, changed the contents of jdbc/lib, started the server. I tried it with JDBC Version 9.2.0.5 as well as 10.1.0.3.0.
In both cases, our own application works, i.e. no more NoClassDefFoundError caused by oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection.
The Enterprise Manager shows strange behaviour, however. Some features work as usual but, for example, when I click on the "Applications" tab for our OC4J instance, we just get the following error shown in the browser:
An error was encountered while loading page. Failed to initialize configuration management user session.. See base exception for details.
Root Cause: TDU
Resolution: See base exception for details.. TDU
In one of the server logs I found the following stacktrace:

• 10.4.11 Unix command to "Exclude simple hostnames"...does one exist?

Is there a Unix command we can send to a 10.4.11 client to set "Exclude simple hostnames"? The networksetup tool doesn't seem to include one.
Thanks,
Don

Hi Andy,
Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network > Proxies > Exclude simple hostnames
Proxy servers are used in most enterprise environments. We want to bypass he proxy for internal hosts (webservers, fileservers, etc.). By checking "Exclude simple hostnames", Mac OSX should (but doesn't always, unfortunately) bypasses he proxy server.
We have a command we push out that sets DNS, search domain, passive mode, enables/sets proxy server for the various protocols, turns off AppleTalk, etc., but there doesn't seem to be a way to check the "Exclude simple hostnames" checkbox using a Unix command.
If a Unix command doesn't exist, I'll see if I can use the manifest editor to handle it...would rather not go that route though...
Thanks,
Don

• JDeveloper documentation concern

Hi, I'm trying to become a java certified programmer, and I had discovered sun java documentation is a mess, you can't compare against oracle documentation for eaxmple, once I finally found it, because it wasn't so easy, the problem I have is you can't print it, some is not enough clear, and definetively there is some dissorder java customer don't complaint,
I didn't understood that sun position, until I read some, I found java's customers see java as a free software, so they don't complaint, instead of that, they feel fortunate of having a class even when it don't work as they expect, because this is like a gift, they don't act like cutomers who pays for something.
What worries me is the fact some Jdeveloper related documentation is going in the same way.
Java has a way to show documentation in html easy to navigate, but doesn't you get the same facility on adobe acrobat?, I'm not telling java api reference html strategy is bad, what I complaint is you don't have a pdf version.
The problem is I use to print the documentation to read it once, and this is simple not possible.
Here is the list of documents only on java.
Business Components Domains Java API Reference Javadoc
Controller Java API Reference     Javadoc
Model and Business Components Java API Reference Javadoc
Business Components Generic Domains Java API Reference Javadoc
Business Components interMedia Domains Java API Reference Javadoc
Or I'm missing something :)
Thank you

Hi Shay I'm not sure, maybe you could do a survey, to get the database ocp and the developer 6i ocp I printed the reference and read it.
Going to database field several dbas don't read all the database documentation, but this doesn't means there are people who does.
The reason I think you must read at least once the reference manual, is to know what you have to work, this is not about memorizing all the reference manual, because a day after you read, you forget the datails, but you remember there is a function for s,t,w,x task, then one day you need to do that task and you go back to the documentatoin and read that instead of reinventing the wheel.
Or conversely, you need to do a y task urgently, and you know that is not possible, then you don't lose time investigating something does not exists and try to find another solution.
I understand html is more confortable in some situatoins but is true you get the same functionality on pdfs in the bookmark section and you have the facility of the search facility on adobe acrobat listing all the options, it depends on how a person works, even if a person is never going to print a document, work on pdfs is better, how do you do a full search on the api html documentation ? I think it is easier on a pdf.
Thank you :)

• Images on Jheadstart

Hi, I'm trying to add support for uploading an image in the database I'm building, I'm using Oracle XE and I defined the datatype as blob. In the Jheadstart definition, I defined the attribute as an OrdImageDomain. Then I generated the application, but when I try to put images as I create the object I get this error.
Error
OJI-05001: oracle.jbo.domain.BlobDomain object is not of interMedia domains.
OJI-05001: oracle.jbo.domain.BlobDomain object is not of interMedia domains.
Do I need to define the object differently. Also is it possible to add a hyperlink to the image instead of adding the image itself.

I have ORACLE XE thought, and it doesn't have intermedia, is there intermedia available for ORACLE XE?

• Non-domain user authentication against SSAS on Active/Passive Cluster

Hello,
We have an Active/Passive SQL Server setup (DB1 & DB2 Servers) connected to a cluster for SQL & SSAS. I have a web server not on the same domain that I am trying to authenticate with SSAS. This works OK if I set the website to impersonate
myUser and I add local account myUser as an Admin on SSAS for the active server (DB1). But when this fails over to DB2 then it fails to authenticate. SSAS won't allow us to add myUser as an admin for local accounts on both DB1 & DB2 as it errors
adding the second one. Could anyone advise how such a scenario should be approached?
We have tried creating a domain user too which DB1 & DB2 can of course both share but I don't think the web server can impersonate this with being not part of the domain.
Thanks.

Hi Jcorker,
According to your description, you need to access the SQL Serve Analysis Services database which is configured as cluster for SQL & SSAS from another domain, right?
In SSAS we can use the solution below achieve the requirement.
1.Create new domain account and impersonate the web site with that.
2.Create local user account on the analysis service with same exact username/password as like domain account created in the previous step.
However, you cannot create a local account with the same name on both servers. I have tested it on my local environemnt, we can create the same local account with the same name on both servers. In your scenario, if DB1 and DB2 on different server, you can
create a local account with the same name on both servers. Please post the detail errors, so that we can make further analysis.
Besides, SSAS only allows users of the same domain or trusted domains and it does not allow users from any domain except from these two. You can configure the trust relationship between the domains.

Thanks

Dear All,
I have solved the issue. I have done the following in-order to browse internet on domain user computers. Here are the steps
1. I have disabled my internal DHCP server in the domain.
2. Then I have configured the ASA DHCP server in the default IP address scheme i.e. 192.168.1.100-200
3. I have Connected my ASA to a switch first then from there I connected a cable to my Domain's Server WAN interface. The LAN (192.168.1.2)interface of the Domain server is also plugged into the same switch.
4. I am using my Domain Server's DNS for name resolution and forward queries which are not served by my domain to open dns server.
It works perfectly so far but before applying or setting up the entire netowrk i want your help to look into the configuration file for corrections if i am making any mistakes. Thanks again for your help and here is the output of show confing.

• Cisco ASA 5505 Blocking LAN Domain Queries

Hi guys,
Okay my scenario, datacentre hosted system with 4 servers connected to a CISCO ASA5505, everything was working fine with 4x windows server 2003 machines but since pulling 2 out and replacing them with windows server 2008 machines i get a flood of the error below and it blocks communications back to the IP listed which is the domain controller so naturally this makes the 2 new servers unusable.
1: they are all connected to the inside VLAN directly via the ASA's switch ports.
2: the are all in the same 255.255.255.0 subnet including the ASA inside interface
3: removing the gateway on the affected machines makes no difference the ASA continues to block it which indicates whether or not the machines use the asa as a gateway its inspecting the traffic and blocking
I have posted the error below and my config, its strange its only affecting the new server 2008 machines and im hoping you can offer suggestions.
Errors:

Hello Richard,
My first though is why is the ASA receiving this traffic is this is traffic that should not reach the default-gateway.
Anyway try the following
same-security-traffic permit intra-interface
Let me know how it goes
Julio

• Dynamic view object loses bind variables after passivation

I am creating a view object definition/view object programmatically in Jdev 11.1.1.2.0. The query requires a named bind parameter. All was working fine but now I am testing with app module pooling disabled and the bind variable is not being restored after passivation -- it's like the definition has disappeared or something.
Here is my VO creation code:
ViewObject vo = findViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO");
if (vo != null){
vo.remove();
ViewDefImpl voDef = new ViewDefImpl("FinalistsWithEvalDataVODef");
// I add a bunch of viewAttrs here...
voDef.setQuery(fullQuery);
voDef.setFullSql(true);
voDef.setBindingStyle(SQLBuilder.BINDING_STYLE_ORACLE_NAME);
voDef.resolveDefObject();
voDef.registerDefObject();
vo = createViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO", voDef);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", null, new int[] {0});
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", new Number(1)); //For testing
vo.executeQuery();
The query executes fine right there and then the VO seems to passivate fine. I even see the bind var in passivation:
<exArgs count="1">
<arg name="Bind_SchlrAyId" type="oracle.jbo.domain.Number">
1
</arg>
</exArgs>
But then when it reactivates prior to rendering the page, it invariably throws a missing parameter exception and this in the log:
<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7409] *** createViewAttributeDefImpls: oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatementWrapper@1af78e1

<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7412] java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1
I have worked on this for hours and can't see anything wrong. Like I said, it works fine when not forcing passivation...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

@Jobinesh - Thanks for the suggestions. I have read all the documentation I can find. Everything works fine without passivation. Everything still breaks with passivation. I have given up on trying to get the bind variable to restore after passivation and am currently just building the query with all values embedded in the query rather than bind variables. This is bad practice but avoids the problem. However, now that I avoided that obstacle, I'm on to the next issue with passivation of this dynamic view object, which is that the current row primary key apparently cannot be reset after activation. I get the following error:
<Key><parseBytes> [7244] Key(String, AttributeDef[]): Invalid Key String found. AttributeCount:1 does not match Key attributes
<DCBindingContainer><reportException> [7254] oracle.jbo.InvalidParamException: JBO-25006: Value 00010000000A30303033383133343734 passed as parameter String to method Constructor:Key is invalid: {3}.

at oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowSetIteratorImpl.activateIteratorState(ViewRowSetIteratorImpl.java:3877)
I've been trying various workarounds for over a day now with no luck. Very frustrating.
Thanks for trying to help.

I was having Exchange 2007 CCR in Two Nodes, Due to hardware fail my passive node is crash. Now i want to recover my passive node i follow this steps
http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2007/high-availability-recovery/re-installing-cluster-nodes-exchange-2007-ccr-based-mailbox-server-setup-part2.html
Evict the Damaged Node from the Cluster
Install Windows Server 2003 on the replacement node
Use the same drive letters and folder structure for the database and log file drives
Install the same service packs & software updates as the cluster active node
Use a unique computer name
for the replacement node
Join the replacement node to the domain
Add the replacement node to the Cluster using Cluster Administrator
When im installing Passive node i'm getting an error when mailbox role is installing "Object refernce not set to an instance of an object"

• Cross Domain error for Silverlight + MVC application with self hosted WCF service on azure

Hi,
We are migrating existing Silverlight application to MVC; existing Silverlight application is hosted on
Azure which is consuming self-hosted WCF service. For authentication we have implemented
ADFS with WIF (passive). The cloud service (<myWebSite>.cloudapp.net) is C Name to (<myWebSite>.<myDomain>.com) and we
are consuming WCF service at <myWebSite>.cloudapp.net/<myService>.svc, as we were getting “Cross Domain” error so we have added “clientaccesspolicy.xml” at the root of “WEB ROLE”.
Existing Silverlight application works fine but the problem occurred when we deploy our migrated application to the same cloud service. We are getting a “Cross Domain” error.
The same migrated application works fine on UAT environment, the only difference is UAT environment is
without ADFS WIF implementation.
Migrated application is half Silverlight and half MVC with initial landing page is Silverlight. MVC web role is used to host the service i.e. .SVC . To go to SL landing page , redirected from home controller. Following is being observed in fiddler for this
application
Existing Silverlight application -
After authentication with ADFS it redirect to Silverlight landing page.
Before calling service method it looks for “clientaccesspolicy.xml”
In response header we are getting the content of “clientaccesspolicy.xml”
And after this everything works fine
Migrated Silverlight-MVC application –
After authentication with ADFS it redirects to “HomeController” and from there we are redirecting to Silverlight landing page.
Before calling service method it looks for “clientaccesspolicy.xml”
In response header we are getting following content - “https://federation-sts.<myDomain>.com/adfs/ls/?wa=wsignin1.0&
wtrealm=https%3a%2f%2f<myWebSite>.<myDomain>.com&
wctx=rm%3d0%26id%3dpassive%26ru%3d%252fclientaccesspolicy.xml&wct=2014-03-17T10%3a36%3a04Z”
4.Throw “Cross Domain” error.
Also we have added filter in
RouteConfig
for .xml file
routes.IgnoreRoute("{*allxml}",
new { allxml = @".*\.xml(/.*)?" });
NOTE: There is no configuration change apart from MVC configuration.
We have done RDP to web role and found that “clientaccesspiolicy.xml” is present at “E:\approot” location and it is also accessible at “https://<myWebSite>.<myDomain>.com/clientaccesspolicy.xml”.
Please help
Thanks,
Rahul P

Hi,
Please try to configure the cross domain policy file to allow public read access (that is, access it without federation requirement), make sure you can access the address
http://something/clientaccesspiolicy.xml directly in a browser
without redirecting to check whether the cross domain policy file could be anonymous accessed (Please start a new browser session and make sure you're
not logged in. Then test the cross domain policy file.).
Best Regards,

• My Intermedia Web agent and Clipboard doesn't work!

Hi,Simon
I'v just downloaded the Intermedia Web agent and Clipboard plugin from OTN a few days ago.But both of it don't work when I install it.Would you please help me look for the reason?
My operating system is Windows 2000 Professional,and my web server is OAS 4.0.8.1,and my database is 8i.
When I visit these address"http://host:port/intermedia/^about"and "http://host:port/intermedia/admin",the browser returns to me a error page.
When I connect to host in Clipborad,it returns to me an error message which says"The following error was received from the intermedia web agent,

Invalid host specified

The request did not specify a valid virtual host

I don't know if this web agent can work with OAS 4.0.8.1 and if OAS 4.0.8.1 can run in the Windows 2000 Professional.
Thanks
null

Hi,Simon,
Thank you for your help!I have sent my application information to your product manager by email!
But the error stll appears.When I typed the whole domain name in the host area of Clipborad,the error message changed to "An application error has occured,please try again!".When I typed the address"http://My host:port/intermedia/~about"(I have substituted ^ with ~ )"and "http://My host:port/intermedia/admin",it still returns an error page which says"HTTP 500 Server internal error......"like before!
Also,I found other errors about OAS.One Application cannot add the second Cartridge,it returns an error:"OWS-09103:Cartridge section'[Application wscWRBApp" when I do it.So I suspect the reason is my operating system platform,I will try to reinstall it now.
Regards!

• Can you Setup a Active Passive DFS namespace in the same site

Hi,
I would like to use DFS for profile replication. I know MS doesn't recommend it, but was wondering if you could setup DFS namespace in an Active/ passive contests in the same AD site. I think or what I can understand of DFS is that if the Fileserver is in
the same site it would select it randomly and you cant specify which server is the primary.
Basically what I want is to have users only access File server 1, but if this file server 1 goes down to be redirected to file server 2.
Thanks,
Shaun

You could have a read-only Replica but that really doesn't help you in terms of the automatic redirection thing. You could also set up a 2-node replication group and disable the referral for the folder(s) on one node like below:
However the "failover" would be manually Enabling, which I doubt fits the bill.
Otherwise, I'm not aware of any configuration of DFSR that allows you to do what you're talking about (maybe someone else will correct me.) HOWEVER, I suspect a design that fits your use case may be to create a DFS namespace that runs
on a file server cluster. That way if Node1 goes down, the cluster fails over, and the data continues to be available on Node2 when accessed via DFS.
If interested, there are a couple ways to approach DFS in combination with a cluster.
Configuration1: The cluster is configured to host the namespace as well as the folder targets (where the actual data is). CAVEAT - The cluster can only be configured as a standalone cluster.
Configuration2: Create a domain DFS namespace that resides on other servers.
\\domain\DFSRoot for example. Then point each of the leaves/folder targets to clustered shares. So you'd create a subfolder called "Profiles" that points to the clustered share that houses the profiles.
Just an idea. Hope this helps.
