JDeveloper documentation concern

Hi, I'm trying to become a java certified programmer, and I had discovered sun java documentation is a mess, you can't compare against oracle documentation for eaxmple, once I finally found it, because it wasn't so easy, the problem I have is you can't print it, some is not enough clear, and definetively there is some dissorder java customer don't complaint,
I didn't understood that sun position, until I read some, I found java's customers see java as a free software, so they don't complaint, instead of that, they feel fortunate of having a class even when it don't work as they expect, because this is like a gift, they don't act like cutomers who pays for something.
What worries me is the fact some Jdeveloper related documentation is going in the same way.
Java has a way to show documentation in html easy to navigate, but doesn't you get the same facility on adobe acrobat?, I'm not telling java api reference html strategy is bad, what I complaint is you don't have a pdf version.
The problem is I use to print the documentation to read it once, and this is simple not possible.
Here is the list of documents only on java.
Business Components Domains Java API Reference     Javadoc
Controller Java API Reference     Javadoc
Model and Business Components Java API Reference     Javadoc
Business Components Generic Domains Java API Reference     Javadoc
Business Components interMedia Domains Java API Reference     Javadoc
Or I'm missing something :)
Thank you

Hi Shay I'm not sure, maybe you could do a survey, to get the database ocp and the developer 6i ocp I printed the reference and read it.
Going to database field several dbas don't read all the database documentation, but this doesn't means there are people who does.
The reason I think you must read at least once the reference manual, is to know what you have to work, this is not about memorizing all the reference manual, because a day after you read, you forget the datails, but you remember there is a function for s,t,w,x task, then one day you need to do that task and you go back to the documentatoin and read that instead of reinventing the wheel.
Or conversely, you need to do a y task urgently, and you know that is not possible, then you don't lose time investigating something does not exists and try to find another solution.
I understand html is more confortable in some situatoins but is true you get the same functionality on pdfs in the bookmark section and you have the facility of the search facility on adobe acrobat listing all the options, it depends on how a person works, even if a person is never going to print a document, work on pdfs is better, how do you do a full search on the api html documentation ? I think it is easier on a pdf.
Thank you :)

  • Is there any documentation concerning Contribute and Windows 2008 x64

I have the impression that it may not be posssible to use
Contribute on Windows 2008 x64 Enterprise server.
    Has anyone had any luck?

    Hi PREM,
If I understand correctly, you want to use SQL Server Authentication log to SQL Server Integration Services.
Based on my research, only Microsoft Windows Authentication is available for SSIS. So we cannot use SQL Server Authentication log to SQL Server Integration Services. Besides, we can only add OS users in the DCOM Config permission area.

  • MS Document Explorer - integration with Oracle documentation

I can not properly install oracle provided documentation
concerning ODP.NET and ODT (developers tools for .net)
It should automaticaly integrate with documentation
viewer used with MS Visual Studio. This is the same
viewer that MSDN Library collections come with.
I don't see any changes in my ms documentation explorer.
My experiments with dexplore.exe /helpcol ... did not succeed
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Marcin

The help documentation does not merge with VS help automatically.
You have to manually install the ODT for .NET help.
In VS go to Help and under Index search for: VSCC
Select the option for managing VS combined help.
You should see an option for ODT for .NET, then cick the Update button.
Close VS and reopen it. You should see a message that the ODT Help files are being merged with VS. It will take a few minutes for the installationt complete.
Then you should have ODT help integrated with VS.

That quote is correct: 'results in the exclusion of segment attributes . . . from the table'.
See the last three words? 'from the table'.
Your error occurs when the DDL to create the tablespaces is executed.
If you do not want to create the tablespaces then specify the EXCLUDE parameter.
    See the doc
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_import.htm#i1007865
You can also exclude the tables 'segment_attributes' as you show but the table has to use SOME tablespace. If you don't include the segment to use in the DDL then the table will get created in the users default tablespace.

  • JDeveloper Team: How Do I minimize the number of Oracle Sessions using Data Tags?

I am trying to create a stateful application thru my JSP pages. Everytime there is a reference to the application module using the data tag, it looks like it creates a new Oracle Session. But thats not what I want to do.
I have a module in which my first JSP page allows viewing of the data and in subsequent pages I allow insert, update, delete, commit etc.
    My Questions:
    1) The problem that I am encountering is that every new page that I go to creates a new Oracle session even though I specify the "Stateful" release mode.
    How do I avoid this?
It looks like , if one browser user can potentially create 10-20 oracle sessions thru one module, imagine what the impact will be when we have hundreds of users.
    2) The sample JSP pages I saw has the username and password hard coded in it every time. Why? For a stateful application can I not specify the username and password just once and have the other JSP pages use the same userid and password.
What are the pros and cons? I thought if I don't use the username and password in all the JSP pages then it probably will not create additional Oracle sessions but that is not true!!
    3) If it creates several Oracle sessions , will it not cause locking problems? If so, How do I minimize locking problems in a stateful application.
    JDeveloper Team Please advise!!
AM I missing something? I would appreciate if someone can help me out!

Thanks a lot for the information. That thread was indeed very helpful. But it still didn't answer all my questions:
    1) In the thread you mentioned, it mostly talks about Web beans. In a jsp page (using Web bean) we need to first invoke setReleaseApplicationResources(true) and then invoke releaseApplicationResources().
Does this apply to data tags? I mean I have a tag <jbo:ReleasePageResources releasemode="Stateful" />. Is this enough to release the application module back to the pool or do I have to have something equivalent of setReleaseApplicationResources(true)?
    2. In a stateful application, the state of an application is maintained between requests via a browser cookie. For each browser, you can have one state per application module class. I was attempting to run "several browser sessions from the same machine" and the end result was that I got errors and unpredictable results ie it returned me far fewer rows then I saw originally. Should I be actually be running the browser session from different machines?
    3. In JDeveloper Documentation (section About Application Module pooling) there is a note section : "If the application module is not recycled the data stays the same. However if the application module was recycled and then activated through a failover, the activation logic re-executes the view objects, so it may bring in more or less rows then originally seen by the clients due to any database updates that have occured."
This is exactly what is happening to me? How do I get rid of this problem? I want to be able to see all the original rows + any new rows That have been committed. Please advise!
    4. Are the JDBC connections tied to application module instances? Is it one JDBC connection per application module instance? So, in a stateful JSP, if I end up using a different application I also get a different JDBC connection. IS this true?
    5. Does the no of application module instances depend on the no of available JDBC connections? Because it looks like if you set the max no of connections to "5" and set the max no of application module instances to "10", It will be able to instantiate only "5" application module instances due to the limitation set by connection pool.
    6. At times I get errors which indicates that the row in view object does not exist. Is this something familiar? Or is it the same problem that John discussed in his thread.
    Thanks in advance!

  • JDeveloper 9i integration with PVCS

I have read that JDeveloper 9i does not integrate with PVCS, is this true? If not, is support planned?
    Thanks

    Hi Scott,
Currently, Oracle9i JDeveloper does not integrate with PVCS. We are
considering ways of providing this support, though we do not yet have
any dates for when this support may be available.
However, you can build your own PVCS addin to use with 9i JDeveloper
by using JDeveloper's Addin Manager and the source control framework
we used for building the Oracle9i SCM, ClearCase and CVS support.
This Framework is published as part of the Oracle9i JDeveloper product.
For more details on the Framework and Addin Manager, please see the 9i
    JDeveloper documentation/help.

  • JDeveloper and Tomcat

We are using JDeveloper IDE and Jakarta-Tomcat Appplication Server in our project (Not using 9iAS). I am looking for ways to be able to debug the application running on Tomcat from JDeveloper. I am not sure if that is possible, if anybody knows how to do it, I would apprecite any helpful information.

Look at the JDeveloper documentation for remote debugging.

  • MSI documentation

Does MSI have any official documentation concerning the bios problems with the 875 fis2r, such as a statement in pdf or on letterhead?

nape, if you are running a press company, MSI will respond to you. Take an example at Anandtechhere.
An official announcement of anything could effect (or affect) the shares. Otherwise it's really no point to make any fuss. No matter you like it or not, you got to live with that anyway.
Again, the updated BIOS speaks all.

  • Webservices developed in Jdeveloper

In oracle 10g, i was able to create web services using dos scripts using WebServicesAssembler.jar to create an EAR file from a plsql database package and deploy it on an OC4J server using dcmctl commands.
At work, we are trying to migrate everything to oracle weblogic server (11g), but the web services are not working.
From the documentation i can find, the only way i can create ear files from a database package is using JDeveloper.
i had used This link as a basis for creating the ear file. i was able to create an ear file using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.4.0.
1)When i deployed the ear file on my oracle weblogic server, and start the web services, i can access and view the WSDL file, and the port page, which will state a link to the WSDL file and test page. if i try to navigate to the test page, the browser gives me a error-404- not found page.
This is the first issue i have. We have some clients, where i have remote access to, but due to nature of their system, the only way i can test whether or not their web services work is to run the test page.
    2) in my development environment, i have installed a utility called SOAP UI to test web services. Provided a WSDL file, it displays the web services that are available. I was able to prove that the web service are there and do run, but i noticed that some of my web services were missing. i found out that the web services that were missing where those that had parameters or outputs with tables of records. from the jdeveloper documentation i find out that jdeveloper does not web services using pl/sql record types. I did find a blog article that allowed me to keep functionality but requires me to strip  the record types i defined inside my package and recreate them as object types outside my package. While this is possible, im not very keen on perusing this approach as it makes my code less centrally contained.
So the questions are as follows
    1) what steps can i take on the weblogic server so that my test pages will render properly?
    2) Is there any alternative to jdevloper (preferably a nice dos based command), which can allow me to create an EAR file which does not require me to rewrite my database package because it contains plsql record and table of plsql record types?

One thing you can try is using the EclipseLink/TopLink Database Web Service capabilities.
It also provides a command line interface and it does support record types.
    See:
    http://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink/documentation/2.4/dbws/creating_dbws_services008.htm
It is also integrated into JDeveloper

  • Jdeveloper with OAS

Can you use jdeveloper version 10.1.3.3 with application server version 10.1.2
Do I need to match the version here ? I am trying also to use BPEL engine 10.1.2.0.2 with Jdeveloper version 10.1.3.3 . Does this work out ?
    Thanks

Not sure about the BPEL engine versions, but for other apps you can develop on JDev 10.1.3 and deploy to OAS 10.1.2 BUT you will have to do some extra configuration of JDev and the .wars/.ears before you deploy.
Details in section 22.11 of the Oracle Application Development Framework Developer's Guide and section 34.6 of the Oracle Application Development Framework Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers.
Both can be found on the JDeveloper documentation page; be careful the links are to 1000+ page PDFs and can lock your browser up for a while if click directly on them Better to right-click and download the doc to your machine.

  • Jdeveloper and Hibernate

    Hello,
is possible to integrate Hibernate libraries using Jdeveloper? is there any Jdeveloper documentation that refers to this issue?
If it's not possible, or not recomended, what's the best alternative to replace Hibernate with Jdevelper?
    thanks,
    Pedro Ribeiro

Instead of using hibernate we would recommend that you use JPA - which effectively is the same concept and approach but in a standardized way as part of Java EE - JDeveloper has great built in support for JPA so no additional configuration needed.

  • Restricted Web User Documentation

    Hello,
A Sap Abap developper has told me that we could have Web Users
    for our Abap webdynpro accesses.
These users have usage restrictions and lower license costs.
From what he told me, they are not manageable from SU01.
As I have not found any documentation on these special users,
    I open this thread.
Would you know if this really exists?
If yes, could you provide me a documentation concerning these restricted users?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hello Benoït,
These users do exist and we do use them because we have HR Abap Web Dynpro applications which are used by all the company employees.
These users are definitively defined in SU01. The only difference is the "Contractual User Type ID".
The actual type may be "SAP application Employee" or "SAP Application ESS user" or ?
This has to be negotiatied with your SAP representative and depends from the number of users and the volume of business that your company does as a SAP customer.

  • Mid Month Calculation for Year dependent fiscal year

    Hi All,
We are in middle of AA implementation .How can we configure mid month in year dependent fiscal year .System doesn't allow to put mid month date for year dependent fiscal year.
If we copy co.code from best practice co.code BP01 system updates date this table in back round.
But we are not copying from BP01.
Any one has configure this for year dependent please input.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
this function is not possible, you have to use a fiscal year variant with 24 real periods instead.
Check the IMG documentation concerning "Use of Half Months in the Company Code":
    - When you specify the use of half periods in the definition of an asset company code, half periods are automatically specified in all other company codes that use this fiscal year version.
    - You cannot use half periods with non-calendar fiscal months.
    - You cannot take back the use of half periods once the specification has been made.  It is noted internally by the system in the asset master records.

    Markus
