Intermitent Fault on Phone

Help!!!
Have had an intermitent fault on phone line for 3 weeks, 3 Engineer visits later and fault re-appeared last night.
Fault iis distorted sound making it extremely hard to hear the other end
First engineers say Broadband fault, back to BT Faults through the sma equeations and fault finding, Fault then cnacelled on system, bakc to faults, smae checks ore frustration
New fault raised and broadband  engineer arrived Friday last, heard fault (thnak goodness) traced to exchange and had thought fault fixed until reappearance last night
back to reprirt fault, total frustartio with 151 fault are they not allowed to think or devaite fromt he script given a history of faults?
Same old checks threat of charging if problem in house (3 engineers say problem not there!!)
earliest an engineer can call is one week away
Just what do you do to get some ne to speak to you!!!
Perhaps stoppinf the Direct Debit will do the trick as at the moment nothing else seems t be having any success and certainly ne inkling of an offer to reduce charges!!
Hope someone can advise how to solve this issue
Thanks
Frustrated!!

Neil
thanks for the reply and hopefully you can assist!
A little more detail and hopefull you can access the engineer reports
Reported the first probem and conducted all the tests (removeing front of internal box and pluggi gphone in direct etc) used different phone in hous etc
engineer came to house (in fact there were 2) these checked the house etc and advised they could hear the problem but i needed a broadband engoneer to fix and i would need to contact 151 to arrange (helpful!)
when contactin 151 i had t go trough all the check again or they would not pass me on, eventually got passed to broadband department who did more checks on line and could find no fault
this job was eventually closed
Problem presented itself again last Monday morning, rpeorted fault again but spoke to supervisor as 151 wanted to do the same checks again!
Engineer booked and arrived on Friday around midday (very helpful gent)
he heard the fault on the line (thnakfully) but after that could not repeat the problem, he conducted checks and confirmed no issue in house or as far as he could up the cabinet at top of raod
He left and went to the exchange, he called form there to explain he disconnected my number and could hear the problem at the exchange
He was changing the equipment and cables? and should resolve issue
all weekend no issue until yesterday evening when the same issue reappeared !
back to 151 who just wnated to do the same checks all over again!
Hoep you can assist!

  • I do not know if I have a fault with Phone, Broadb...

I do not know if I have a fault with Phone, Broadband or TV.
I have a White Box with the label "Openreach" on it. There are three green lights on the top labelled "Power" "DSL" & "Lan 1". The "Lan 1" loght has very recently started a continuous flashing.
On the back of the box there is a cable with Red Connectors which goes from that white box to my BT Broadband Hub.
There is a Green & Orange Light by that cable. The Orange Light is also continuously flashing.
I phoned 0800800151 last night and was eventually told I had "A Glitch in my system" - The Asian lady (who was very difficult to understand) said she'd send me a text and I also confirmed my mobile phone number but have not received a text.
Everything, that is Phone, TV & Broadband work excellently and without fault except...
That White Box is getting "Quite Warm" (approx 7 degrees f.) above room temerature and that makes me worry about a fire risk.
BTW - I have OCD's so regularly check every item of electrical equiment for any sign of overheating, for that reason I am able to say this is "Warmer than usual".
I am very worried about this, I'm disabled and live alone. I'm very frightened of the fire risk, can someone please explain the "Glitch" and the overheating please?

Sorry, not quite accepted, I see that I missed something out...
This rapid flashing has only occured since I had BT Sport included in my package a few days back. Before then the light had been stable green with the occasional rapid flashing whilst I have been connected to the internet. That obviously does indicate data transfer.
However, when I was not connected to the internet, the light glowed a stable green all the time. Now it flashes rapidly even when I'm not connected - I'll add there that my BT Vision box remains on all the time.
Heat - The unit IS WARMER than it was - That may sound nit-picking but with my OCD's I "Touch-check" every item of electrical equipment every time I leave my house and, when I go to bed at night  so I am very well used to "How warm something should be" so that in my mind, I "Feel Safe". At this time I don't "Feel Safe" with the increased temperature so have to switch it off overnight, or when I leave my house.
** The unit may of course be warmer due to extra data-transfer but then, why do I suddenly have extra, and constant data transfer when my computers are switched off and I'm not using the internet?
A thought about that I think could be that someone else is constantly accessing my connection though I've no idea how that could be so or if that ever could happen.

  • Fault with phone line cleared, but IP profile stil...

    Hi,
Apparently there was a fault with my phone line (didn't seem anthing wrong to me), which had caused my IP profile to be dropped, although my connection had never dropped. So an Openreach engineer came out and did something down the road from my house. He called later that day (Friday) to say the fault had been fixed and that my broadband should return to normal after 3 days. Its now over 3 days and I'm still stuck at 2mbps.

  • Fault on Phone and slow broadband

Hi over the past few days and numerous tests and me phoning BT It was discovered that It looks like there is a fault on the front plate of the main socket that comes into my home. THis is a box that was installed by BT a few years ago. I was told that if I wanted to have an engineer to fix this there would be a charge of £130.00 I am not happy at all as surely this main socket is owned by and the responsibility of BT and not down to me to repair.

Hi there, several years ago BT replaced the the main socket and installed an ADSL V1.0 made a hole through the wall  in the dining room and installed a Hard wired Extention on the inside of the ouside wall of the property, as I was having peoblems with my broadband speeds using an domestic telephone extention lead.
Had my problems just been with the slow broadband I would have suspected that the extention socket was causing my slow broadband problems. However My phone has been acting irraticly too, people cannot reach us the phone rings once and cuts off. Also the line is intermittently noisy and people have been reiving the message that there is a fault at ******** the name of my cottage..
I have unscrewed the faceplate and put a filter into the test socket and so far the phone seems ok although my broadband is still very slow. AS the phone fault is intermittent it is hard to be sure that the frontplate is definatly the cause of the problems but it seems like that so far.
I do not have sky or anything else apart from Broadband and my telephone, I have been at this since Thursday and to be honest with you I thought my problems were over when I realised the phone was not woking for sure and assumed the BT engineers would fix it.
I forgot to say there are no other extentions going into that box apart from the main phone and the extention on the wall installed by BT which I have ruled out because the phone is effected as well as the broadband.

  • To know about the fault of phone

i m a user of nokia 5130 express music  and recently using PC i updated the software  after the completing the update  the phone is not  switching on when i try to swicth it on after removing and replacing batrry once its just flashed and not responses I want to know what may be the fault

Being an S40 device, the options are very much limited in this case. You need to take the phone to Nokia Care...
..only thing you can do is, confirm that the battery is charged..(Put on charging for about 15 minutes)..and then try switching ON. If no responce then do as mentioned above.

  • Fault 'resolved' phone redirection not cancelled

Reported a fault on Tuesday as the phone wasn't working, have now established this may be a broadband related issue that Plusnet need to investigate. Yesterday I cancelled the appointment for BT engineer visit next week, the fault is showing as resolved on the net, but I asked the call centre operator to cancel the redirection of calls to my mobile phone. He said this would take about 4 hours to work its way through.  That was 17 hours ago and the calls are still going through to my mobile, which has poor reception in my house so is diverting to voicemail.
How can I get this call diversion cancelled? It took me 4 hours yesterday to get through to BT to cancel the engineers appointment.

  • 13 Weeks still fault with my phone line

Well what a nightmare did I think 13 weeks later and still have a fault with phone line. Had around 15 dates for this to be fixed excuses after excuses really don't know what to do next so annoyed

    Thanks mariek666,
Do you pay talktalk your line rental or BT Retail?
if it is talktalk then As this forum is for BT Retail customers only and you are with talk talk then you will need to raise it with TalkTalk themselves.
The lines are maintained by Openreach for all ISPs/CPs such as talktalk, BT Retail, Sky, EE, ect...
However even though Openreach is part of the BTplc Group, Openreach are a completely different line of business and have to treat all ISPs/CPs equally.
Openreach also only communicate with ISPs/CPs such and do not talk to end users such as you and me.
I'm afraid you will need to raise this matter with TalkTalk if you pay them line rental.
    Link to talktalk contact page:http://www.talktalk.co.uk/contactus
Link to learn more about who Openreach are: http://www.expect.openreach.co.uk/faqs/
Hope you get it sorted soon.

  • Two years of intermittent broadband faults

After two years of intermitent faults countless calls to Bt, 3 engineer visits , all engineers agree i have intermittent fault. Today the engineer visited and said he thought he may have found a problem and said it would be all good, LOL NOW I HAVE NO PHONE LINE .
TWENTY YEARS PLUS customer with Bt but will never recomend them again until i have somthing to recomend .

OK, so this is a community forum, where we can all vent and propose our own suggestions to other BT customers with similar problems.
Its quite funny how we are all technical support these days, often knowing a good deal more than the customer care people we are dealing with, but lacking any access to get the problems resolved.  Customer Care seems to be a barrier to that access, rather than the gateway.
Anyway, my point is that when I had a plain 1Mbps Broadband Service, it was better than now.  Pages loaded a little slower, but it was RELIABLE.   Then WiFi got all complicated, and I struggle to get a strong signal just metres from my hub.  Simply walk to another room or round the corner and you lose 75% of the signal - it really seems to be line of sight these days.
Now I have 5Mbps to the Hub - luxury, except that the uplink back to the exchange is slower than a dial-up modem at <100kbs.   I am lucky if I re-boot the hub to get 400kbps uplink, but then it drops every HOUR.
This lack of reliability is worse than the slower link.
I am awaiting an engineer to 'check my external wiring' which has not changed in 10 years.  This was after having the riot act read to me about being charged if they can somehow make it my fault instead.
I had been having problems with the Hub2 being very poor and unable to handle Port Forwarding or DHCP tables, and it took 2 years to get a replacement Hub (v4).  Definitely quicker interface and smarter hub, but the link has been bouncing about all over the place for weeks now.
On the plus side, the call to 150 on the phone got me to a real Customer Care person within a few minutes, and they stayed on the call and they escalated it.  First time for 5 years I think.  The uplink was SOO bad the online chat stood no chance.
    Lets see what happens.

  • Why was I lied to by in store reps and treated as if I did something wrong when trying to get a faulty phone less then 6 month old replaced?

I am writing to say I experienced the worse customer service ever from one of your stores!!!  Not just the reps but both the day and night manager both were very rude to me, I am not going to saying I was a happy camper in talking to them but you are more then welcome to pull up the recodings and see that I was not being out of bounds with them....expecially after waiting over an hour to be seen in person then being lied to and calling back mad then next day!  I have a Note 3 I purchased about 4-6 months ago that the screen went dead on.  The phone still turns on and makes noies and recieves messages but will not light the screen up.  I took it in the the Murrieta store last night about 830pm, after reading online that you can bring it back to any verizon wireless store for refurbished replacement.  Well after checking in and witing till about 930pm (30 mins after closing) I was seen and given the 3rd degree about how I broke the phone.  The representitive went thru the phone for 20 mins and continue to throw out ideas of how I broke it and hows it possible I could break it and again would ask if I broke it.  After the 5th time stating I did not break it he look up my phone number and pulled my account (a while later we started) and stated he could get me a replacement by Tuesday of the following week, well that was a Thursday night and I was going out of town that friday so I explined that does not work and I need a phone ASAP.  He then explianed I could pay for overnight delivery, I refused to pay for any charges as it was not my fault the phone was broken,  He stated a manager could possibly waive the charge.  I asked to speak to the manager, he coninued trying to help me for another 5 mins to which I eventually said can I just speak to the manager.  He went and asked the manager to come over who was already dealing with another irrate customer.  After waiting another 5-10 mins the manager came over and rudley asked how can I help you.  I explained where we were in our transaction and that I was very unhappy.  She rudley informed me that all they can do is ship the replacment and if I wanted they would ship to a venture store (my weekend destiation) and I could go piock it up from there and that it.  I informed her that the rep has already offered overnight to my house by 1030am but I needed her to pay for the charges.  She said fine she would and was very short and rude about it.  At this point I was ****** and told her I felt she was being very rude and short to me and I understand she just dealt with an irrate client but I had been waiting well over an hour at this point for something turns out I could have done over the phone or should have as your stores dont offer in store replacement (I was told that a policy and they have no idea why the website would say come to the store but its wrong).  I also informed her that it was a product I bought from your company that was giving me trouble due to it being faulty and its an inconvenence to me THE CUSTOMER....not the other way around.  She said she was doing all she could do and could do no more.....NEVER once in the conversation did the manager offer her apologizes for my troubles, even after I stated she was being rude and I was very unhappy with her level of customer service in this problem with a warrantied item.  I excepted the 1030am next day delivery and left.  Well I was unhappy but left anyways and now its 1130am I go to check status of package and it says monday by 530pm delivery??????  So I called the store informed the day manager on duty (David <<Last name removed>>) I was lied to about a needed delivery of replacement and explained that I am very unhappy.  Well turns out he had the staff listening on speakerphone as he informs me the staff remembers it differently and the manager on duty last night went above and beyond her duty by paying for my shipping and helping me.  Then went on to say my screen was cracked via the notes shown which was never shown to me and they did not even have to help me as I did not have insurance.  I explained the rep the night before spent 30 mins trying to find how I broke the phone and why I could have broke it to which he found nothing with the phone but apparently still put in the notes he found a pressure crack.  I asked the manager if its the policy to just assume the thing is broken by the client to which he said YES, we have an extensive history with these devices and we are usually right in out ASSUMPTIONS!  I informed him I was very unhappy and he was not a part of the conversation last night and to tell me his rude night manager went above and beyond was siding with his employees far beforing doing any research into the matter having only heard what his employees were talking about as I was explaining.  He did not seem to care and explained that your policy are very strict and your employees must adhere to them to, guess this includes lieing to customers to get them out of the store.  At this point I got his info as I seen the level of his customer support and service and hung up.  This really makes me question the 15 year relationship I have had with Verizon Wireless!!!  I now am leaving my family alone for the weekend and I have no form of communication as I will be on a boat off the coast of Ventura for 3 days......and I am left to think my best hope is to have a phone monday evening that I will mostly be charged full price for as the rep stated the phone he is replacing is broken........am I correct in this assumption.......Verizon Wireless Sorry, I don't believe you when you say you don't work for the VZW.
Believe me or don't. That's simply up to you.
You are trying to explain to me that they could have just kick me out after
hours (even though I was there atleast 30 mins before closing, was checked
    in and asked to wait)
No business is obligated to assist you after hours.
and that my phone probably is broken (even though the
rep could find nothing wrong and could show me nothing wrong still noted in
the notes it was broken)....sure sounds like a vzw rep to me.
I sure hope that, for your sake, that the phone is not broken.
You are assuming I was told of charges.....
At some point you were told of the charges because you mentioned them in your original post.
you also assume I was irrate and
    demanding from the start....
In my 20 years of retail experience and dealing with customers I don't assume that you were irate. I am confident of that. I could tell from your original post that you were not an easy customer to deal with.
the website clearly states come to store for a
refurbished phone if your phone has a warranty issue which is what I did.
Can you post a link to this information on the website?
I will give you that you are very articulate in your answer (Thank you) but completely
unhelpful and ignore the fact that I was told something which now you make
me believe even more was done intentionally.
    What does this even mean?
    You say nothing can be
overnighted after 5pm....then why was made that promise?
FedEx has certain times that they can abide by for overnight shipping.
    To get me to go
    away?
Yes because it was 30 minutes after the store closed and they wanted you out of there.
There is policy and I understand that but there is also a thing
called customer service and thats what not what I received.
You obviously don't understand that there is policy or you would not have treated the employees the way that you admittedly did in your original post.
You get what you give. You will always attract more flies with honey than with vinegar.

  • Re: Can anyone beat 4 weeks without a working phon...

Yes we were without phones and internet for 6 weeks although initial fault started June 28th with a constant noise on the phone lines. Then our home phones both started ringing once every few minutes but no one was there.
We were told the fault was a cable in our garden by first engineer. The second engineer who called said no it is in the road. The 3rd engineer said it was in the exchange.(god does anyone know what they are doing)
After 2 men came to dig a hole in the road they decided the fault wasn't there so after a week that hole was filled in. They came back a week later and dug the same hole but bigger. This time we lost everything but was told not to worry as it would be fixed in 3 days.
    That was 2nd August.
On September 3rd 6 men came to dig up our garden and fit a new cable in, the next day 2 engineers came and fixed the problem and we were finally back in business.
Funny thing was that while the engineers were in my hallway mending the fault I had a call from BT saying that they were so sorry but Openreach wouldnt be coming this morning as they were busy but say that they do not need to come into my house as the fault was outside the property.
I said to the man that is very funny as Openreach are here and they could not of mended the fault without coming in my house.
I am so annoyed and disappointed with BT. they are hopeless.

Felt I had to respond as unfortunately I can beat you 4 weeks. We are now just passed 10 weeks with a phone fault - no phone or broadband. Message from BT today said engineers were on site for dig work today; no they weren't! Apparently they actually meant tomorrow - keep your fingers crossed for us!

  • Phone won't activate

Three TS people and a total of six hours with a phone pressed to my ear later and my iPhone won't activate. It says no service where I'm assuming there should be antenna bars. TS obviously has no clue, as two people said they would call me back yesterday and haven't. The last person I spoke with had me re-download iOS 5 from iTunes. The phone walked through the screens, like i was on the right track, but it just will not activate. It stays on the "this may take a while" screen and then says it won't connect. No way to dial *228 either.
Any clues before I call it quits with Verizon? If I needed a new phone they should have overnighted it to me so I had it today. This isn't like my Droid when it was brand new to everyone. Doesn't Verizon have any experienced people yet to deal with iPhones?

Yes I did, Susan. Numerous times, but with "no service" in the corner, the phone could not place the call.
I had a *spare*  couple hours this morning, so called Verizon's TS again.
This TS person said she was surprised the phone wasn't pronounced DOA yesterday after she reviewed all that was done to it. She offered to replace the phone and I would have a new one on Monday she said, as they don't ship on Saturday's and could not do an overnight thing, not even to one of their stores. That burned me after hearing the phone should have been pronounced DOA yesterday. By the time she switched me over to the person I had to speak with to get the replacement ordered though, Monday had changed to Friday... the end of next week! Apparently TS was wrong yet again and I should not have been told Monday. My head was ready to pop after being told this. It might not be Verizon's fault the phone arrived DOA, but it is their fault the three people I spoke with yesterday didn't issue me a new phone in a timely manner. And kept telling me they would call me back and didn't.
I am checking out At&t's plans right now. I was with them before I made the move to get a Droid and really had no beef with them. Life is too short to be dealing with Verizon.

  • Faulty Iphone 4s / Repair or New Phone!

    1. I Brought a new I phone 4s.
    2. I Downloaded social media apps. (Iphone kept restarting by itself) - I ignored the issue.
    3. Updated to IOS 7, Iphone switched itself off and wouldn't turn back on.
    4. Took Iphone in to Vodafone store for repair.
    5. One month later my phone was out of repairs and ready for collection. (NO REPLACEMENT PHONE WAS SUPPLIED DURING THIS PERIOD).
    6. Vodafone customer services stated that the phone could NOT be repaired, due to "unnoticeable faults within phone". Cannot be fixed.
    7. Spent 9 hours talking to Vodafone support live chat, transferring me to different departments. Only to be told to contact Apple and ask for a new phone!.
    I AM STILL IN WARRANTY!.
    I NEED SERIOUS HELP!.
CAN AN APPLE TEAM MEMBER PLEASE SUPPORT ME ON THIS ISSUE?.

These are use forums. You aren't speaking to Apple here. If you have a problem with the phone then make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • 3 DEAD PHONES!!!!

    G'day all,
I was looking through the Nokia Website when I found this forum so thought I'd post my woes to see if anyone else had experienced the same.
I have a Nokia 5070... well, I'm up to my third actually which has now died just this morning.
The problem occurs when I go to take a picture. I hit "capture" and the phone turns off. I am then unable to turn it back on again... It won't charge, nothing, dead as a doornail.
THIS IS THE THRID 5070 I'VE HAD DO THIS IN 2 MONTHS... They all go the same way.
I'm currently talking to my provider about getting a different model phone as I'm pretty fed up with this... They've been great and have a 30 replacement policy if the phone goes belly up in that time.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do?
Obviously the 5070 handset has some inherrent issues that Nokia need to sort out I'd say...
    Cheers
    David.

What has happened to the support for Nokia in South Africa? The discussions page keeps closing on your web site so we cannot get in. I would like to say that Nokia sucks. I had a 6680 phone purchased 18 July 2005 and replaced under warranty after much arguing on the 25 May 2006. The fault - the phone kept switching off by itself and sometimes the screen would flicker badly until it switched off. That was 9 months of hell with a phone.
I received a new replacement 6680 code: 0521819 on the 25 May 2006 with a three month guarantee, meaning that my guarantee for two years was finished. Within 6 months the same symptoms appeared and eventually in April 2007 it kept switching off. When on charging it stays on but the moment the charger is disconnected the phone dies within 10 seconds. No - not the battery -I purchased a brand new battery. I was advised to do a software upgrade which I did to V5.04.07 and this seemed to help for two months. By the beginning of August 2007 (the phone now 14 months old) it started again same problem. Now it dies within 10 seconds of being switched on again. With charger on I can upgrade the software. The morons on the help line:
Person NO. 1 tells me to upgrade my software to V5.04.40 then transfers me to customer survey
Person NO: 2 tells me my phone is at the correct software then transfers me to customer survey.
On the web I find V5.04.40 but cannot down load it.
The local so called agent want your money up front, but I know from the first 6680 that these monkeys will not fix the phone and have no faith in them
I have a Parrot carkit but have had to use my old 3210 series through all this
    and this is rather frustrating.
    I want to know:
Do the smart phones only last 10 - 16 months
I have seen on the UK discussion board that a lot of people refer to similar problems, so what can Nokia do to sort this out. This is not a warranty request, I just feel that even though the phone was replaced it should have lasted and not come back with identical behavior patterns. Again this may not be the correct way to get a message across but can someone forward this to the right people for answers as like I said your web site for Africa sucks and I cannot get to the service area
