Internal Batch Numbering

Hi Gurus,
We have internal batch number assignment for receipts against purchase order. Now we want to have different internal no range for returns. Can we have two internal number ranges active at the same time & how the system will assign numbers diff. for receipts against purchase order & for returns against sales order.
Regards
Amit

311 is a transfer posting, do you really want each time new batches when you move the material from one storage location to another?
if yes, then try the following:
Make message M7 199 an error message in OMCQ and try again.

  • Both External & Internal Batch Numbers

We have turned on batch management @ material level. Is it possible to have both external and internal batches.
    Eg.
    M1 has external batch no.
    M2 has internal batch no.
    M1 is ROH
M2 is Fert, whose batch will be generated during autoGR
    Regards.

    Hi,
What Mr. Rajesha told is right It is not possible to have two different type of batch no assignmenmt External & Internal Batch Numbers.
You can use some of the standard User Exits or develop a custom user exit for this purpose.
You can use SAP enhancement SAPLV01Z for internal batch number assignment. This enhancement contains two function module exits that you can use to define number ranges or templates for batch numbers:
EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001. You use this exit to replace the number range object and/or interval proposed by the system with your own number range object and/or interval.
In addition, you can, for instance, stop the system from assigning an internal number depending on the material or plant. You can also use this exit to stop the dialog box from appearing.
EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002. Using this exit, you can either change the number assigned by the system, or assign your own number.
There are many such user exits, please check and use the appropriate user exit.

  • Internal Batch number not getting generated

    Dear Experts,
We want to generate internal batch numbers during production order creation. To achieve the same ,
the following Customization settings were done:
    1. Acitvate Internal Batch number assignment (T-code OMCZ)
    2. Maintain Internal Batch number Assignment Range  (No exits will be used for batch number generation)
    3. Creation of New Batches  -->  Define Batch creation for prdn. order --> Automatic batch creation during order creation
    4. Creation of New Batches  --> Define Initial Creation of Data for Batch Master Transactions --> Automatic creation
only allowed for a material type.
All the relevant materials are markes as Batch Managed.
But when we are creating a Production order system generates a error shown below.
No batch numbers could be determined
    Please guide.

  • Multiple batch numbering in one client.

    Hi PP Gurus,
We have a business scenario wherein more than one business exist. For clients pharma business then batch numering logi is different and for other businesses it is different.
We have a proposal by which the Batch numbering at the time of Process order creation will be checked by User Exit about the existence of the batch key in manually.
But for other business we want to keep Internal batch numbering with other User Exit.
Can we have more than one kind of batch numbering; Internal & External both with different batch numbering logic?
    Thanks,
    Abu Arbab

    Hi Abu,
For the movement type where the batch is getting generated, in customizing for Batch creation
set it for Automatic / Manual check in USER EXIT.
    Try this out & revert.

  • Internal Batch Number Allocation

    Dear Gurus !
I want to allocate internal batch numbers after releasing the production order Kindly let me know How can I do this.
    Regards
    Debjeet

    Hy Dabajeet,
    Batch Creation can be done
    - At the time of order creation
    - At the time of Order release.
    - No auto batch generation at the time order creation/Release.
And that is you can set with T.Code OPKP (Prd. Scheduling Profile).
I don't think there is any such std. setting which will give you facility to generate auto Batch No. after Order release. In this case you have one option and that is create manuall Batch No, by Pressing Create Batch tab in Goods Receipt screen of order.

  • Internal Batch Number for specific Production Order Type

    HI PP Guru
We need to activate Internal Batch Numbers to a specific Production Order type.
We need this at order confirmation level. i.e. (CO11/CO12)
    Is it possible? HOW ?
Please let me know customizing Steps.
If this is not possible then, Batch number should be internally assgisned at Order release stage. Please let me know customizaing steps for this even.
    Thks.

    hi Siva
    Thk for suggestion
However, if we do not wish to activate Internal Batch Assigment and want to remain on manual BUT still we want system should not allow duplicate BATCH NUMBER, then, is there any way to achive this.
This is because, once we manually enter batch in confirmation (CO11), we further break the material in to several part and we need to understand original batch number. For this we just take the original batch number and add further serial number like below
Orinigal Confirmation Batch Number - 100001
    Batch Split of 10 - 10000101,10000102,..............10000110.
So, what we want is system should check that same batch number is exist or not in confirmation. Is it possible or how it can be handle.
    thk in adv.

Still when I do MIGO the batch tab appears but the system is not generating the batch numbers internally instead its asking to enter the batch number.
Please suggest if I have missed any other config or any master data towards the settings for Batch Management and also to have the system create the batch numbers at the GR stage.

Batch management there are 3 internal number ranges and 1 external number range.
How system will automatically pick up the number range during batch creation (GR or release of prod.orders)?

Configure Customer Exits for Intern. Batch Number Assignment
    Further notes
Both exits contain a communication structure with application data from the respective business transaction (plant or material type, for example).  If you need further information, such as the time, the user name or the date, you must include them yourself in one of the exits.
The system always checks whether the assigned batch number already exists in the system. If it does, it terminates the function without assigning a batch number.
    Example:
In function module exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001, the system uses the material type to determine number range interval XY. This number range is then used to determine number 0000100123 as the next batch number .
In function module exit  EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002, the final batch number 'ABCD100123' is determined from batch number 0000100123 and plant ABCD. The system suppresses the leading zeros.
If you do not use a sequential counter for the batch number, you can skip internal number assignment in exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001 to specify your own batch number in exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002. Further information and examples for EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001 and EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002 Further information and examples for EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002

  • Leading zeros in batch numbers

Is it possible to have leading zeros in batch numbers, meaning that batch 123 is different than batch 0123?

In the standard, number range 01 from 0000000001 to 9999999999 has been defined for number range object BATCH_CLT.
You can use SAP enhancement SAPLV01Z for internal batch number assignment. This enhancement contains two function module exits that you can use to define number ranges or templates for batch numbers:
    1.
In function module exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001, the system uses the material type to determine number range interval XY. This number range is then used to determine number 0000100123 as the next batch number .
    2.

  • Userexit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001 for COR1 (batch numbering)

    Hi guys,
    I have a strange problem.
Our customer is upgrading from 4.6B to 6.0 (701), and their user exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001 (used for automatic batch numbering in transaction COR1) stopped working.
I just don't seem to pass through this code while debugging, even though the project seems to be active etc...
Any ideas what might have changed between 46B and 701?
    cheers

For some reason, internal assignment was switched off on the DEV system, and on on the PRD system. I could 've been debugging until hell froze over

  • Batch Numbering vs. Production Order Creation

    Hello
I am in a Pharma environment and have the following question / issue:
Batches are auto created at Production Order creation/release. In several cases the batches are not numbering chronologically?
    A few givens / assumptions:
    No deletions
    No transfers
    No combinations
This is affecting the sample assignments / sample sizes, as well the Dyn. Mod. functionality, but I pose the question straighforward as I've posted above.
    Thanks for any thoughts..
    V.

    Please search:
Batch Numbers Skipping in Internal Number range Assignment
Anytime numbers are skipped it is usually due to buffering of numbers which is a BASIS function and is done to optimize system performance.
Please have BASIS look into this for the objects mentioned in the above link. Your  BASIS people should be well-acquainted with the process of number buffering across servers.
I am howevr curious as to how not having consecutive batch numbers affect the items you mentioned like sample sizes and DMR's.  Can you elaborate on that?  I can only imagine this is due to some customization or development you have done.
