Invalid Eclipse platform version - BPEL Designer

Hello, when I try to install the BPEL designer, I get a popup "Invalid Eclipse platform version", "The version of the Eclipse platform installed at C:\Java\eclipse must be at least 3.0 (release)". I have Eclipse 3.0.1. Thank you.

Problem solved using solution given for topic "BPEL plug-in not installing on eclipse 3.0.1". Not sure why I couldn't find this topic in the first place, before submitting one of my own....

  • Error during installation:"Invalid Eclipse platform version" (have 3.0RC3)

I saw a new version of bpel designer on otn for download. As I hoped that it would solve my previous problem ('db schema not found') I downloaded and tried to install it.
Unfortunately I get an error during installation: "Invalid Eclipse platform version". I know that at least version 3 has to be installed. The .eclipseproduct file tells me that it is version 3.0.0. I have downloaded and installed the Eclipse SDK 3.0RC3 version a couple days ago. So it looks like that the version is OK. But I can't get around this error message.
    Any ideas?

I've downloaded the GA version of Eclipse and it works now.
During the installations I saw some minor things that I'll share with you:
    - path to the bpel server can be left empty, however there is a '/' already. So you have to chose a directory or delete it before you can go further otherwise an error appears. Maybe it is easier to not have the '/'.
    - I wanted to have the designer and PM in the same directory. But choosing the same dir led to a warning for overwriting the dir. I didn't dare thus now I have 2 dir's. ( 1 for designer and 1 for PM).
-After installation I don't have entries in 'Start''Programs''oracle' to start the PM. This was also the case with the previous version. I start PM via the 'bat'-files under the PM/bin dir.
    - starting the batch file: startOraBpel.bat starts with an error; "The system cannot find the file C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe /e:4096."
    - Last but not least: I hoped that this would solve my re-install problem 'cannot lookup db schema version' but unfortunately that's not the case.

  • BPEL Designer Extension Points?

I'm wondering if there's any way to extend JDeveloper BPEL Designer? I know there's something for Eclipse - see for example http://eclipse.org/proposals/bpel-designer/main.html :
"Extension Points The project should be architected as a set of plug-ins, each of which provides the ability for other groups or vendors to further extend and customize the functionality in a well-defined manner. Here is a list of possible extension points that it may provide:
Runtime environment pairing (Validation, Compilation, Deployment)
    Addition of specific functions
    Extensions to BPEL palette definition
BPEL element extensions and visual tool contributions"

We are currently working on making the BPEL Designer extensible so as to allow for new activities, wizards, etc to be written by customers and partners. Is this what you are looking for? If so, this functionality is planned for 2006 and should apply to both thre Eclipse and JDev BPEL Designer plug-ins.
Regarding source code, we are not planning to make source code available to the JDeveloper BPEL Designer plug-in, though we have proposed to open source our Eclipse BPEL Designer and co-lead that project with IBM (as you may have seen).
If you are asking a different question than either of these, drop me an email or you also may want to post to the OTN BPEL forum:

  • Specifiying BPEL Server Home in BPEL DEsigner

    Hello,
When I run a build on a BPEL Design and then logon to the BPEL PM I have to manually Deploy the new process. It seemed to do this as part of the build before. I get a successful build, but it includes the message below:
[bpelc] bpelc> Skip deployment because server home is not specified.
    Any ideas how to resolve?
    Thanks,
    Sean

Yes. Please go in the eclipse windows>preference>BPEL designer and make sure that the server home is set correctly. Please also make sure that you click on the APPLY button (even if it was already correct).
    Thank you,

    David,
This might be caused by the fact the fact that you have the platform version of eclipse. BPEL PM requires the SDK version (full download ~87MB).

  • BPEL Designer plugin for Eclipse 3.1 - when will it be available?

As oracle has not only vowed to continue support the Eclipse IDE for the BPEL Designer, but also keep functionality in-line with JDeveloper - I was wondering when a version of this plugin will be available for Eclipse 3.1.
Could some Oracle rep. please respond to this?

    Excellent!
Can this be downloaded from OTN?
    At http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/bpel/index.html
I only see: "Oracle BPEL Designer for Eclipse 3.0"
Or did you try and use BPEL Designer for Eclipse 3.1, using that version and was fortunate enough to get it working ;-)

  • Problem with BPEL Designer Plugin in Eclipse

I am not able to open the BPEL designer in Eclipse.
I am using Version: 3.0.1 with the Build id: 200409161125
When I select New Project, i cannot see the "Oracle BPEL Project" option in the New Project wizard.
Is there any way to integrate the plug-in into the Eclipse. Please help.
    /Kiran.

    Hi Kiran,
Eclipse requires to detect new plugins.Usually you only need to launch Eclipse with the 'clean' optionnal parameter (run "eclipse.exe -clean").
If the setup of the BPEL Designer plug-in have been completed properly, you should see the the 'Oracle BPEL Project' item under de 'New Project' wizard menu.
    Hope this could help.

  • BPEL Designer plug-in for Eclipse download link broken

On the BPEL Process Magare download page at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/bpel/index.html, the link to the BPEL designer plug-in for Eclipse - http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/bpel/bpelz_0.9.13_win32.exe gives a 404 error.
    Anyone know the correct location?
    Neil

    Kenan,
I am afraid that the side-by-side versioning does not address the need of in-flight changes because there is not import feature for in-flight instances.
The side-by-side versioning is designed to let all existing in-flight instances to complete with the existing (unchanged) BPEL definition while new instances are routed to the newer version.
To deploy a new version of the BPEL project, us the -rev option if you are using the command line tool or the rev attribute is you are using the ant task.
Sorry for not being more helping. Dynamic changes is a feature we do not really support.

  • Eclipse BPEL Designer with Oracle BPEL Process Manager

    Gurus,
I am tryting to develop a BPEL 2 process using Eclipse Helios BPEL Designer (v0.5).
Request your help with a problem that I am facing, which is as follows:
I am trying to create a Partner Link (PL) in my BPEL process, using the Partner Link Type (PLT) provided by TaskService (for user interactions) in BPEL Process Manager 11g integration services.
However, the PLT is not recognized by Eclipse BPEL Designer. The Port Types in the WSDL show up but not the PLTs.
I noticed that the PLT namespace being used in the TaskService WSDL is BPEL v1 namespace (namely, http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/05/partner-link/). I am able to work with PLTs from WSDLs with BPEL v2 namespce (namely, http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsbpel/2.0/plnktype)
Is there anyway I can work with v1 PLTs using Eclipse BPEL 2 Process?
    Many Thanks,
    Pulkit Sharma

    Hi,
I believe the Eclipse BPEL Designer is not a supported tool to create SOA composites. I suggest using Oracle JDeveloper 11g as it is a supported tool for development and is Oracle's go-forward IDE strategy.
    Hope this helps!

  • Eclipse BPEl Designer -Changes to bpel.xml not saved

    Hi
Is it possible to save changes made to bpel.xml file while using Eclipse? I was trying to set up preference properties in that file.
    Any say?

According to our experience, JDEV BPEL Designer encoutered the same problem, you'd better modify the bpel.xml descriptor using external editor such as ultraedit, and save it.
Modification of bpel.xml works fine for the first time, but often rolled back to the former edition once I restart the JDEV designer. Guess it is a bug.
