"Invalid Sim" Or "No Service" On 4S Phone

I have just bought an empty phone 4S from Singapore M1 Shop.
Due to my employment in China, I have changed to the China micro sim card.
Sometimes, there is network but after sometimes, it appears "Invalid Sim" or "No Servive".
I have approached the APPLIE store in Shanghai China but no one can solve this problem.
Please do anyone encounter this problem? I need help or advice desperately. Thank you.

1). Are you positive the phone is not locked? Where did you buy it? Did you get it unlocked from your original carrier? Only Apple sells unlocked phones in most countries.
2). Did you try with a diffrent SIM. MAybe the one you have is defective.
3). Does the Spnaish carrier you are using support the iPhone? Who told you it is a handset issue?

Unlocked iPhone4S - Invalid SIM or No Service error

Invalid SIM or No Service error occurs after few hours the iphone has been turned on.

Install it by Option-clicking the Update button (Shift-click in Windows) in iTunes and choosing the downloaded file. News sites have reported that the new build fixes the Invalid SIM for at least some people.

Usually cuz its locked to a network other then the SIM's. Did you swap SIMs today? Or it's not seated properly. Take it out and reinsert carefully.

IPhone 'SIM failure' and 'invalid SIM'

My iPhone 4 with Bell mobility was working just fine. I put it down and when I came back an alert saying 'SIM failure' appears and then instead if my carrier in the corner, it says 'invalid SIM'. Should I take my phone to Bell to get my SIM replaced or go to apple? And is this a hardware problem?

Try removing and re-inserting the SIM. If that doesn't fix it, get a replacement SIM from Bell.

I've received an email with a solution to the problem; you have to update to the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406)!! It's been 1Hour and so far my iPHone 4S is working just fine. Please follow carefully the below instructions:
RUN A FULL BACK UP BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS
1. Download the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406) from the internet. (800MB)
2. Connect your iPhone 4S to iTunes.
3. Once connected, two options will show: ‘restore’ and ‘check for update’.
4. Press down SHIFT and choose ‘check for update’. (if you click ‘check for update’ without pressing down SHIFT doesn’t work.)
5. Select the new firmware (9A406). Note that the file should be renamed ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw’ (instead of ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.zip’), i.e. changing the file extension from ZIP to IPSW. iTunes will now work alone and update your iPhone 4S.
A full back up is recommended before firmware upgrade.

Ifeel miserable after trying out all the options changed multiple sims, tried multiple carriers, restored the phone back and have set-up as new device but the problem does not get solved... its is so frustrating that after investing on a world's most expensive phone you cannot enjoy the calling features which the phone offers which is the main thing you own the phone for.. Rest of the things are working.. The funniest part I am not able to make calls or receive calls but can access the internet.. I have tried every possible thing and really very frustrated with this iphone of mine...I hope the problem gets solved.. would anyone have any solutions to this problem.. Does it mean one should never update software as I hear that after updating to IOS.5.1 the problem has started coming and same has been with there.... Apple says its a hardware failure which is very difficult to digest as sometimes I get 5 bars and able to make and receive calls but 95% of the time I am unable to. If anyone has any solution I will be very happy if he or share can share the same. Was it purchased from an official Apple Store, not a reseller? Only Apple Stores sell official factory unlocked phones. The others sell hacked to unlock phones, and the unlocking is unstable.
Try these steps, as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
3. Replace SIM card (and reset network settings again)
4. Restore Phone in iTunes using a backup
5. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup

Could be a bad SIM card or an iPhone hardware problem.
Try a new SIM card first. You can get a new SIM card at an ATT retail store. After explaining the problem, there should be no charge for the new SIM card.
If no change after that, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

If it is showing invalid SIM error, then the unlocking is not complete. Depending on what carrier authorized the unlock, most require the phone to be restored before the unlock is complete. Once you restore, you should receive a message stating Congratulations, your phnoe is unlocked. Then you restore the backup of the device from before the unlock restore.

I recently bought two iPhone 4 phones from my colleague in USA. He unlocked these phones from AT&T. But I did not test it. However, now that I am back to India, and inserted my Indian Vodafone SIM car, the phone shows "No Service" and if turn AirPlane mode ON and then OFF, a message comes as "SIM Failure", and the top left corner shows, "Invalid SIM".
Now, how do I confirm whether my colleague was successfully able to unlock these phones ?
What are the steps to make my Indian Vodafone SIM work ?

Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
Restart your iPhone.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Restore the iPhone as new.
Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.

In order to verify if the phones have been unlocked, the original carrier for them would have to be called.

Without contract is not the same as unlocked. The update to iOS 7 relocked
the iPhone to the wireless carrier to which it was originally locked. You must
contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If you used jailbreak or other hack to unlock the iPhone initially, the method
used may prevent a legitimate unlock from succeeding and may render your
iPhone unuseable.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? Thank you very much! I actually tried doing that with a paper clip but was not successsful. I feel I tried plugging in the clip in in every possible way and it still did not work. Is there is a special trick to the way this needs to be done? I felt like if I kep pushing, I was going to damage the device.
