Invisible shield left a sticky residue...how do i remove it

Hi everyone, I had a problem with my invisible shield so i called them up and they sent me a replacement. I just riped off the front of my invisible shield off of my 30gb ipod video i did it very slowly, but damm this thing was stuck down. Now it left a lot of sticky residue that i can not seem to remove. I have checked there website but found nothing regarding this. All they say is that it will remove with out leaving anything behind. Can someone give me some insight on how to remove this. I have tried spraying it with applicator solution and letting rubbing it, i have also tried rubbing it dry with my thumb in hopes to ball it up. None of this has been effective all it is doing is making it worse... please help

just did this yesterday on my ipod and mine also left a residue. I just used the applicator solution and those soft cleaning cloths that you use to clean glasses. It took a while but it eventually all came off, leaving a few new scratches. I had some old polish from an old ipod i had, and used that to mask the scratches. After I put the new sheild on, i could not see any more scratches. Just give it a little elbow greese.

  • Failed installation left nomad explorer components, how do I remove th

I recently did an installation of the Nomad explorer and Creative jukebox drivers, for my nomad zen xtra, but for some reason the installation never quite completed.
I'm left with the start menu shortcut, as well as the nomad explorer dri've icon (under My Computer), plus whatever hidden changes it made during the installation. Unfortunately, this does not include an uninstallation option, so I can't get rid of them (well, I can delete the shortcuts, but the nomad explorer system folder in my computer I don't know how to get rid of).
Anyone know of some way to clean up this faulty installation? I tried installing over it, which worked fine, and then uninstalling, which successfully removed the second installation, but did not affect the first.
    Any advice is appreciated.

  • READ THIS IF YOU BOUGHT INVISIBLE SHIELD WITH FREE SHIPPING!

I want to order an invisible shield with free shipping. about how long did it take to get to your location?

I don't think so cause i don't got a tracking number, a code or anything like that. I just got my order number from invisibleSHIELD but that's useless. I think i should start saying goodbye to my $30. Shipping by Miami Express i'll end spending more than what i paid for the invisibleSHIELD. Right now the only thing i can do is hope that someday it will arrive.

  • Cleaning sticky residue of my ipod video.

I purchased a clear sheild for my ipod and realized it was a generic knock off after I put it on. As I pulled it off it left a sticky residue. What should i use to clean it without scratching or doing any damage to it?

Not specifically, but I have used it on many similar items such as the Ipod, dab a bit on a tissue or soft cloth, and try it on an area? Not to much. It works on many things sticky, really! Should work with your problem as well?

  • All talking of invisible shield !!! How easy or difficult to remove it ??

    Hi,
Gone to many posts and reviews related to invisible shield or any such type that protects the iPhone 3G. My question is; How good or bad it would be when we actually remove it after few months or may be after an year..?
Does it leave any sticky residue on the phone? Will the phone still have the shine on it the way it has right now..when its new ??

They are very easy to remove and it will not leave sticky residue on the iPhone. I used them on my iPods and a lot of my other electronic devices, but not on the iPhone. I prefer a leather flip case for more protection.

  • Replacing the nano battery with the invisible shield... How?

Does anyone know how the invisible shield will work when the battery needs to be replaced? I am looking for a permanent solution. While I know that I will be able to peel the Invisible Shield off for the battery replacement, the shield will become stretched and distorted. At this point I will not have a shield, and don't have to want to buy another one. The only solution I think would be possible is if there was a way to slice the shield with a razor (around the seam). Any ideas. Perhaps I shouldn't buy the Invisible shield, it might just be a short term solution.
    Anyone?

Actually, I think the more prudent question is whether or not the nano will even be accepted for battery replacement by Apple, or anyone else with a cover like that attached to it.
They could even charge extra money to deal with it, I can see either situation as being realistic.
If that does turn out to be the situation, then it would come down to a matter of costs as far as what you would need to do.
That being said, I personally think it is way too early to even worry about things like that since it is years off at a minimum, and it could very possibly never need to be done.

  • How to avoid water damage when installing invisible shield

Just wondering what you have to do to avoid water damage when installing Zagg invisible shield? What precautions should I take so that I do not damage the iPhone when installing Zagg Invisible shield?
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.
    ...B

    Hi BGmail,
I would stay away from invisible shield by zagg or similar products. I tried it, waste of £15, could have got myself a dock stand for my phone for that ****!! The problem with IS(invisible shield) is that the screen protector has a rubber feel which makes it annoying when swiping your finger on it + it's not scratch proof at all!! Mine scratched 2 days after the installation so badly that I had to remove it. The back it's hard to apply, does not cover everything you'd like to, also a dust trap that could get between tha film and the phone causing it to scratch, some people reporting the film going yellow after a while(on white iPhones).
What I think of IS: A poor american product heavily/aggressive advertised!! Mine is off, using a hard clear plastic shell and a good screen protector, might look bulky but it's safe, only using the shell while at work, the iPhone is pretty tough, don't forget.
    Your choice... Good luck !!

  • My NOT so invisible shield

I have the black 60 gig iPod and I read everything that everyone wrote, the instructions from the web site, from the rainy day web site and the front of my screen is pretty funky. lots of wavy kinds of little scratch looking lines. like they came from my credit card while getting the water out. which shouldn't have happened.
I did not completely dip the shield in the soapy water, because I didn't want to put that much water on a $400 iPod and the company doesn't tell you to dip it, so I didn't. I did use a lot of water with very clean hands though, didn't have a problem with the alignment so much, though a little, but more that it screwed up my screen.
you can definitely tell there is something on my iPod. I think the quality of the protection is probably great, but I definitely have to contact the company tomorrow and see about what can be done, because my credit card should not have been able to put marks in the shield according to everyone else and now I am a little afraid to pull the thing off especially since I have nothing else to cover my shiny new iPod with.
anyone know how long you can leave it on and then take it off without ruining your iPod? I saw the instructions for removal and will get some goo gone in case I need it before I remove it.
I should also have had some tweezers to use instead of just my hands as a little bit at the top that is supposed to go around the curve folded over on itself and i could not get it apart, so had to cut that part off.
it's been 24 hours and i turned on my iPod and you can definitely tell there is something on my screen and it is not clear anymore.
I think the key is getting the thing REALLY wet and then being able to use the credit card to remove the water, but like i said, i was apprehensive to get my iPod that wet.
There should be a better solution, like apple making the iPod and especially the video screen, scratch resistant.

Yes, I did wet both sides, I just didn't dip the whole thing in the water, I wet it with my fingers, but in retrospect, I think the dipping, then shaking off the excess, is a better idea as then there are no fingerprints on the sticky side, and the whole thing is equally wet and soapy. I did tilt the card in the direction that I was scraping. I even used a brand new credit card. I was worried that I would damage the screen under the shield while squeeqee'ing the water out when I saw what it was doing on the outside. I even put more water on the top to keep it from catching on the rubber like surface while using the credit card in case that was the problem, but it didn't work.
I have to admit that I finally did pull it off of the front a couple of hours ago because I could never have lived with the marks all over the screen as I was trying to watch video after the 24 hours and I didn't want to leave it on any longer as I didn't want to have problems pulling it off at the click wheel. Which i didn't using tweezers to carefully pull it off.
I do need to get the goo off of the sides tomorrow with some goo gone. it sure does scratch easily though. I wish the invisible shield had worked for me as I think if you can get it on properly with no marks and no bubbles, it's pretty amazing protection. I left it on the back and am using plastic wrap to cover the front while it isn't on to protect it until I can get another kind of cover for it.

  • Sticky residue from otter box screen protector

This is in response to the post about getting a sticky residue left by an otter box case for my iPad. I tried a cloth with warm water but that didn't work and I contacted otter box also and haven't received a response from them. Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to get rid of this residue without harming the screen? Let this be a warning NOT to put the supplied screen protector that comes with the otter box on your iPad.

I had a similar situation when I removed a screen protector (not otter box). Warm water applied to a soft cloth and a drop of dish detergent. Adhesive residue came off easily with no screen damage.

  • Invisible Shield, iDiddy, or Martin Fields

    Hi all,
Do any of you have any preference for shields for the iPod? Looking for something easy to put on that won't leave any residue if removed.
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hi Ed,
I was kind of skeptical about putting on the invisible shield, but after reading others advice, I SLOWLY with much patience applied the invisible shield on my black 5g ipod.
I put it on immediately after removing the factory plastic protection, so my hands never touched the ipod itself.
It is very tough, and I have no fear of any damage to it without a case. There is a very slight texture to it, but it is nearly invisible. Also, the screen is not affected at all by it. It also adds a bit of a 'grip' to it so it doesnt really slide around if I leave it on slick surfaces.
I put mine on perfectly the first try, but I wonder how removal will be if necessary. (lifetime replacement is nice)
I think the key for this product is 'slow & deliberate'.
Sorry for rambling, hope this helps.
    -Dave.

  • Invisible Shield Warning!!

For anyone considering getting (or more importantly, removing) an Invisible Shield, see my post here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=368865
I should also note that all of my attempts to contact this company have failed. They have not answered any emails and when I call I am placed on hold indefinitely.

I have used this product with the iPhone:
I recieved a scratch on the sheild as I did on my last plastic screen cover. So as I did prior I removed the invisible shield. The invisible shield removed without a problem. I still have it on the back of my phone so my plastic or rubber cover does not scratch the back. I have to stress IMHO that I am sorry for you, but this is a isolated incident. I feel 100% comfortable with the invisible sheild product on my iPhone. And no I do not work for them.
If you have left the cover on the back then of course you are 100% comfortable with the shield. Did you even read my initial post? If you take the cover off the back, it will take the lettering with it. How you can possibly call this an isolated incident if you have not removed the back cover?????

    What version of Pages?
What instructions? It sounds like you have got the wrong ones and are trying to delete a page in the Thumbnails, which will delete th entire section.
If you have a blank page in a Word Processing template, it is because there is some text on it, even a return, tab, space or page break:
Menu > View > Show Invisibles > backspace over whatever it is to get rid of it

Im based in the uk, but a friend is heading over to San Fransico next week and im wondering if the apple stores stock the invisible shield or will i have to order from the invisible shield website?
    cheers guys

    Hi there,
AFAIK the only way to get them is via their website.
I'm from Germany and have been looking around the last days to find a German or at least European dealer, thinking it might arrive faster. Haven't had any luck though :/
So, I ordered mine 2 days ago via the website. I'm pretty curious how long it will take to arrive here.
    Cheers from Germany,
