IOS 7 form reset workaround

The button reset isn't supported so I've been trying to find a workaround for my client. I'm at my wits end. Has anyone been able to find a solution to this problem?

For text fields at least, you can set their values to an an empty string with JavaScript:
getField("text1").value = "";
Just repeat for any other text fields.
Normally, to uncheck a checkbox or radio button you'd set their value to "Off", but this doesn't work to deselect them when the script is executed in Reader for iOS, which is a bug. Test the other field types too if you're using any.

If you can't remember your passcode, you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
If you're running iOS 7 with Fid My iPod enabled, in order to restore it you'll have to force it into recovery mode as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808, or erased it using Find My iPhone on icloud.com if your home button isn't working (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0ef36f).

PDF form reset to blank after hitting send button

How can I make the PDF form reset back to the original after someone hits the "Send by email" button?

You can try to use the following on a 'click' event of the button.
It will reset the form after you email.

Hi I'm making this form and when i enter a company name and
then choose a Business type the form resets all the text fields.
Any idea why and how i can fix this?

ITunes Match/iOS 7 iPhone music workaround for excessive data usage?

I just got an email from AT&T indicating I had exceeded 150GB of home data usage this month. It was because I used my home wifi to download 5000 songs to my iPhone from iTunes Match to fill it.
I'm frustrated, since it used to be so easy to make iTunes Match work for a large amount of music: In iOS 6 what I used to do (if I had to restore iPhone and set up as new phone): Plug iPhone 5 into computer, set up phone as new, check "manually manage music and videos" and "prefer 128kbps" and make sure iTunes Match was off in phone settings. Then drag & drop 5000 songs (about 40GB) from iTunes into phone. Once that was completed (a couple of hours), I could disconnect the iPhone from my Mac, turn iTunes Match to "on" in phone settings, and I'd get a message on the phone saying "All music on this device will be replaced" which is fine, but other than taking a while to update the remainder of my iCloud stored music, it used very little data.
Fast-forward to this past weekend. After updating to iOS 7.0.2 and having to do a restore and set up as new iPhone, this approach didn't work: When the step came "All music on this device will be replaced," all of the 5000 songs entirely re-downloaded all over again, which took 27 hours and burned through 40+ GB of home data (not phone data, since I was on Wifi). I kept my phone at home, plugged in and on wifi all weekend so as not to burn through all of my LTE data.
What is the deal? If I have to do this again (let's hope iOS 7.0.3 or 7.1 doesn't force my phone into recovery mode again), I certainly don't have the time or patience to let iTunes Match redownload all music again, and I certainly don't want to use up 40+ GB of home data.
Is there a workaround for this? Have others been successful transferring music via computer first and then turning on Match without problem in iOS 7.0.2? I'm sure it worked that way in iOS 6, and without completely redownloading all the music again, since that process would have taken several hours and a lot of home data, and I have not had any problems like this prior to iOS 7.

I think a better question is why do you "have to" restore your iPhone and set it up as a new device as often as you seem to? This seems to be more of a problem for you.
I followup question is why do you have iTunes Match turned on if you're syncing all your music to your iPhone?
Perhaps you should examine how you're using your iPhone and iTunes Match?

To answer this question, yes I have. It has always worked this way for me.

I just got a replacement for my broken iPad mini from asurion, and I backed it up. But the problem is, my broken iPad mini has iOS 7 and all my data is in iOS 7 form, and I want to transfer it to the new iPad mini. How would I do it?

Combo Box in Portal Form resets after query

Hello all,
I have a portal form based on Stored Procedure. In it I have a Location combo box and Query button in addition to few text items. Users can select location from the drop down list and hit Query button to view the values in for the text items. The query part is working fine. But after query the Location resets to Null (as the LOV which feeds the combo box can have Null). We would like to keep the location they chose to query up even after the query results. Any help is appreciated.
The Location item is in the parameters of the Stored Procedure. Initially it was IN, later I changed to IN OUT but there is no change in functionality.
I also removed the ability to accept NULL for the LOV which feeds Location Combo box but now it is displaying the first location on the list after the query, which is even worse.

You're catching Exceptions in empty catch() blocks. There might have been an exception, but you won't know if the catch block doesn't do anything.
Try something like this:
catch(SQLException e){
System.err.println( "Problem with db query"+e.getMessage() );
e.printStackTrace( System.err );
}in order to see what's going wrong with your code.

Form Reset Button.. works in Pro., Doesn't in Reader

I created a form in MS Word 2007 and converted to Actobat Pro 9.2.0 and included a reset and print button.
When opening the document in Reader 8.1.3, the reset button only resets some of the fields, although all of the fields are checkmarked in the reset dialog. Also, when I click the print button, nothing happens. I've created dozens of Acrobat forms with reset and print buttons and this is the first time I've noticed that they aren't working in Reader.
Both functions work fine in Pro. Yes, I am sure that the button behavior is linked to a specific action such as >File>Print for the Print Button. This happens on more than one computer, so I don't think the problem lies with just my machine.
Any ideas?

As a test, what happens if you replace the Reset Form action with the following JavaScript?

IOS 7: wallpaper scaling workaround

I have come up with the following workaround for the scaling issue of your personal wallpapers.
You need photo processing software on your computer for this.
That software should be able to crop and resize your photos, but above all be able to put a frame around your photos.
If you do not have software like this, download IrfanView or something similar.
I am not sure whether IrfanView exists for the Mac.
I have tried this on my iPad 2 in landscape orientation.
The iPad 2 has a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. For other resolutions, change the numbers accordingly in my instructions.
I have used IrfanView for this:
1) open your favorite photo in IrfanView
2) resize (Ctrl+R) the photo to 1024 x 768, if possible without preserving aspect ratio
3) if you want to preserve aspect ratio, you will need to crop the photo to your personal liking
4) add a plain black frame of 250 pixels around the photo (Ctrl+D)
5) save this new photo on your computer in the folder that syncs with your iPad
6) sync with your iPad in iTunes
7) on your iPad in settings > Wallpapers & Brightness choose the new photo
8) move the photo to the correct position
9) tap the "Set ..." option of your choice
Until Apple publish a better method to scale the wallpaper, this workaround should work for many of us.

Had the same scaling problem on my iPad 2 with IOS 7.
Reported the issue to Apple by phone - it seemed new for the customer care agents....
Found a solution:
Each photo to be used as homescreen or lock screen has to be resized into square format of 1424 x 1424 pixel (double on retina displays)
Resizing can - for example - be done with the free online tool pixlr.com
After resizing the photo will fit as a wallpaper even if parallax is turned on.
It' so ridiculous that each photo for use as wallpaper has to be resized manually now!
Resizing wallpapers has been done automatically on each windows XP - PC for the last 15 years.
At least for the moment I found a solution,

Contact Form Resetting after Submission Bug?

Currently, when a contact form is submitted, all fields are cleared out and it appears that it returns to the Non-Empty state. However clicking in a field and then back out of it will make it go to the Empty state, as it seems like it should after submission. This seems like a bug?
How do I make my contact form fully reset after clicking Submit?
Also, is there a way to make a Clear Form button, or a widget that exists that does this?

Hi Sanjit,
I agree, that's what it should do, however it doesn't. After submission, the form returns to the Non-Empty state with all form data removed. When you click on a field and then back off of it, it then switches over to the Empty state.

You can see that after you submit the form, it resets to the Non-Empty state.

Form reset problem

Hi all,
I have a cfform containing 3 related cfselects (i.e. bind
parameters connecting them), and it all works fine. However, I just
noticed one problem: the form contains a Reset button to clear all
of the form fields, which it does, but when the first cfselect is
reset to it's first option, the bindings are not re-triggered so
the other two cfselects do not contain the correct options. I tried
adding an onreset="document.myform.firstselectid.onchange();" to
the cfform tag, but that didn't work (throws a js error). BTW, I'm
testing all of this in IE7 since that's what my client uses.
Anyone know how I can get the bindings to update when the
form is reset?

Clearly I have not explained the problem well enough, since
the fact that I'm binding to cfcs has nothing to do with the
problem. Here's a simplified version of the relevant code:

When the user selects a Type from the first list, the Manu
list uses it's binding to get the associated manufacturers and then
the Model list uses it's binding to get the models for that type
and manufacturer. It works just fine (has for a long time).
The cfform has a reset button (<input name="Reset"
type="reset" value="Clear Form">), and when you click it to
reset the form, it does just that, setting each cfselect to it's
first option. However, the fact that the Type cfselect got reset to
it's first option does not cause the Manu and then Models cfselects
to refresh from their bindings like they would if the user had
selected the first Type option. That is the problem.
I had hoped that simply following the reset with a js call to
document.myform.Type.onchange(); would initiate the refresh, but
document.myform.Type.onchange turns out to be null, so no go.
I'm aware of an undocumented js function
ColdFusion.Bind.assignValue that I've seen used for refreshing a
cfselect that binds to a js function, but I have not seen any use
of it when binding to a cfc.

Bind and form reset

I've got a set of radio buttons bound to a cfdiv. None of them are initially selected. As expected, once you click one, the cfdiv shows the value of the radio button that was selected.
The problem is if I reset the form that contains the radio buttons. The radio buttons clear, but the cfdiv still shows the value of the last radio button that was selected. How can I clear the cfdiv value when the form is reset?

LC/Acro 8.0 dynamic form resetting entered data

I have a dynamic form originally created using LC 7.1. The form was Saved As... using LC 8.0. The form has a table (in the Body Page) which adds rows via an addInstance button. The rows expand to fit the text. Two master pages are used as the second is a continuation sheet.
Using Acro Pro 8, I distributed it so that it could be completed and saved by a user with just Adobe Reader (7.08). Whilst completing the form, adding rows, entering data and regularly saving, I reached the bottom of the page and added an additional row (to spill over onto the continuation sheet), however all the data disappeared from the completed fields (all the fields except check boxes). The same happens when the table row expands to accommodate the text, thereby spilling over onto the continuation sheet (2nd master page). It also looks as though the RemoveInstance manager resets the form data when I delete a row and there is no script telling it to do this.
Even purging the cache, closing down, and reopening the Saved form doesn't recover the lost data!
So am I misunderstanding the licence limitations of this upgrade or is it a bug with the InstanceManager? If you are supposed to be able to complete/edit and save the form, what am I doing wrong?
Any help, greatly appreciated.

Where is some documentation on this bug? I am having the same problem (disappearing data EXCEPT radio buttons and check boxes). I do not manipulate instances in my form, but I do update the layout (it is dynamic) and allow users to save data.
I suspect that my end users are using earlier versions of Reader, but would like some documentation on the subject, as I do not have access to the users' computers. I can't recreate because I have Reader 8.
