IOS 8, iPad, and Safari

This has not been a smooth transition for me. I upgraded to iOS 8 on my iPad 4 with no problem. That said, Safari has never been the same.
My biggest complaint at this point is the top "area" (url, forward/back arrow, bookmarks, etc.) disappears. I have to tap at the top for the top 'area' to reappear. This is a pain because now it is a two stop process going from one site to another (those that are not bookmarked).
I have posted this problem on the Apple Facebook page and Twitter with no response.
Does anyone know if there is a setting I can change to keep the top area of Safari on the screen on the iPad?

Sorry, there is no setting. That's how Apple wants Safari to be.
Users can get used to it.
Let Apple know how they feel http://www.apple.com/feedback/
If they can't get used to it, find another browser to use.
User options pretty much are to adapt to the new way or find another app to replace the new functionality that you don't like

I have a gen one iPad and Safari keeps shutting down for no reason Just crashes. Is this common?

I had my original Ipad replaced because of this but it still occurs and is getting more frequent as time progresses.

You tagline shows iOS 6.0.1, but you said you have the first generation iPad. iOS 6 does not run on the iPad 1, so I assume that you're running 5.1.1.
You may have low memory issues with the iPad which some users have talked about with the original iPad running iOS 5. You can try some basic troubleshooting steps and see if they help. You might want to see if the iPad and Safari behave better when you keep apps in the recents tray to a minimum....close the apps if don't need quick access to them.
Anyway, give these things a shot.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I downloaded the newest iOS 7.1 and safari no longer works on ipad2

I postponed downloading the newest iOS 7.1 for my ipad2 because it seems whenever I update the software something inevitably crashes.
I went ahead and downloaded iOS 7.1 and now Safari does not work at all. I've had to breakdown and use google chrome instead.
Someone please help!

I tried that and a reset and still i cannot get my Safari to work. I open safari and it opens as a blank. pressing on any of the buttons or items in the application and after a while poof... it disappears and I am back to the home screen! I have an Ipad mini and since all the links I click open Safari , my ipad is now usless in that regard.
I cant change to another browser as a default browser to open the links.
Can anyone help?

IOS 8.2 and Safari

I'm having a problem with iOS 8.2 on both iPad and my iphone. Safari frequently crashes out of web pages and reloads the page. There is no apparent pattern to this. Is it a known problem, and if so, when will a fix be applied?

Simple step to try first. Quit Safari like I describe below, then reset your iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. To reset the iPad press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

Since I downloaded the most recent version of iOS, my iPad and iPhone do not have all the music (from CD's) anymore that I have on our home computer iTunes Library. How can I get all our music onto the music libraries on the iPhone and iPad? Thanks!

Since we downloaded the latest version of iOS on our iPad and iPhone, and synchronized our music collection in the Cloud, we can no longer see on our iPad and iPhone the music from our CD's that we have on our home computer's iTunes library. We can only see music in the iPhone and iPad library that have been purchased on iTunes. How can we get all our music from our computer's iTunes librbary visible on the iPhone and iPad? Thanks, Nick

IPad and Safari hijacked on a MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm now on my third generation iPad. Yesterday, I got it hijacked, with a dialogue box saying to call a 1-888 number to unlock it. This has never happened in years of iPad use, but did one day after I enrolled in Google Plus. Feel free to make a rational conclusion. I will not ask the question of why hackers are always 2 orders of magnitude more competent that corporate IT. Instead, I will ask why no law enforcement agency can track a specific phone number and arrest the ********.

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
You can use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to factory settings and the latest version of iOS.
Restoring iOS software deletes all your data and content from your device, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar info.
Before you restore your device
Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
Use iTunes to back up your device. Transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings > iCloud on your device to disable Activation Lock.
Restore your iOS device
Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary panel, click Restore.
Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.
After your iOS device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. Once it does, you’ll see the "Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. Very Weird IOS Bug - iPad and iPhone

This is a really weird scenario - which I hope someone may shed some light on.
I'm building a new website, and there are parts of the website that don't function at all on either my iPhone 5, or iPad 2 - (both on IOS 8.3) , yet when I try the very same thing on other peoples iPads or iPhones (various types - some identical configuration to mine), it always works perfectly (I haven't found anyone else's iPad or iPhone yet where it doesn't work).
I've tried everything, upgrading from IOS 8.1 to 8.3, shutting down, removing all cookies and history (repeatably), turning off javascript then back on etc - yet for some reason nothing changes and I cannot get the functionality to work on my iphone or ipad.
There are a number of bit of functionality that fail, but an easy one to test is:

3/. When the modal opens click the top button labelled "Yes - Make A Stag Do"
On my iPhone / iPad the button does nothing. If the code is working on your iPad / iPhone , then you will be taken to another page - if not, like me, the button does nothing.
Even if you don't know what the issue is, I'd be greatful if you could tell me if the function works for you or not.

How do I take assets I've created in Illustrator and save them to the proper resolutions for iOS (retina, non-retina, iPhones and iPads, etc)?

Should be OK to create your image in the respective pixel dimensions and then export at 72 ppi.

IOS 4, iPad and 3G problems

I've updated all my iPhone and iPad software today and my iPad will no longer connect using my Orange 3G card - I'm getting a message to say "could not activate cellular data network" even though the Orange signal strength is high and my little 3G icon is there at the top.

I am having the exact same problem, but on the 3 Network in the UK... I just keep getting 'Could not activate cellular data network' regardless of what I try.
I've tried resetting the ipad networking settings, resetting the ipad completely and trying it fresh and resetting it and trying it with my settings and it still won't work.
I've chatted to 3 on the phone, and they've confirmed the APN is correct as well.
Anyone got any other ideas?
Annoyingly, the iPhone also running iOs 4.2 manages to connect fine to the 3 3G Network and work!

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo. It is safe to do, there should be no content loss. It is the same as rebooting your computer.

IPad and Safari

I recently got the iPad air. When I am on safari and try to add a new page I hit the " " sign. However instead of opening new pages it closes out of safari all together. I then cannot find the page I had just been looking at without re-entering the address.

I recently started to have a similar problem when using Safari. I will be on a website that requires some kind of login (new account or signin) and as soon as I enter the first character, Safari shuts down an I have to start from scratch loading Safari then going to the website where I experienced the problem. Most times the problem occurs again. Its intermittent and random. Nothing changed on my ipad before this problem started in the past couple of weeks.

I installed the new iOS6 and when I try to connect to wifi it directs me to a non-active link on apple.com and doesn't let me go anywhere from there.

go to settings>Safari>Turn on Private Browsing
make sure to close all browers.
Connect to your wifi
then you can turn off private browsing if you want.
