IOS4 Excel Spreadsheet crashes in mail

I have a person who I am supporting, when he goes to open an .xlsx document in his email, it goes to a gray screen for 1/2 a second then Crashes out to the main apple icons menu. He took his phone to the genius bar and was advised to Restore his phone to a brand new phone status without doing a restore, and he is still having the same issues. This is happening to about 1/2 of the excel files he receives. Is any body else having this issue? Does anybody know if there is any other fixes?

have you found a solution to the "unable to read document" problem. i have it with an exchange account and an iphone 4.

  • How can i paste a column of email addresses from an excel spreadsheet into a Mail message To: window

In the past I have been able to send a group email by copying a column of email addresses from an Excel spreadsheet and pasting it into the To: window of an email message I had composed. I simply dragged my cursor down the column containing the email addresses, right-clicked Copy, put my cursor into the To: window of the email, and hit Paste. Mail recognized the list as a series of email addresses and I was able to hit Send and the email went on its way.
Today I tried to do this and after I hit Send I got an error message. It appears to me that Mail did not recognize the list as a series of individual email addresses but saw them as one long address; the error message said it "did not appear to be a valid email address". Has something changed in Mail? I recently installed Mavericks!
I can't be the only one who sends group emails this way. Are others experiencing this problem?

Now Tony, I know you can't hear my tone on a forum post but I was not complaining, simply stating facts . This change brought several people in my office to a grinding halt in a long established workflow that is really rather simple (and I thought was already assumed from the original post above ):
    1) Select a set of records in FileMaker Pro 12 and export only their e-mail addresses as a CSV file.
    2) Open that CSV file in Excel.
    3) Copy the column of e-mail address.
    4) paste into the appropriate recipient field in Mail.
    5) Send
If I were to complain it would be about Apple's typically opaque approach to updates. There is no granular explanation of why changes were made or even "what" changes were made.
Complaining is futile since Apple is Apple and is unlikely to change, but sometimes it is cathartic to "shout into the void" .
I had thought about doing something with a formula in Excel and your suggestion was simple and helpful. Again, however, it is only a workaround for a long established helpful behavior that Apple has inexplicably broken/removed in Mavericks Mail.
I, and the other posters here, would love to have the capability back rather than have to add previously unneeded steps to our workflows.
Ultimately we may add scripting steps to the FileMaker side to export the address lists with commas inserted already if Apple ends up having permanently removed this feature.

  • Opening an excel spreadsheet in iPad mail

I was having an issue opening a spreadsheet with the file extension .xlsm. This appears as an attachment from a client which means macros were utilized when creating the spreadsheet.
The problem lies in. The iPads ability to open the attachment. I downloaded the numbers app thinking this would be a default software to open any and all spreadsheets.
In contacting apple support I was told I have to open the file with a Mac and then save this as a numbers file. This is definitely unacceptable as I want to utilize the iPad rather than carrying my MacBook.
Please note this is a first generation iPad.
Thanks for any help with the issue

Numbers has some troubles opening up Microsoft Excel files (especially ones with Excel-specific macros). There are a number of apps in the App Store that are better able to handle Microsoft Excel files. I don't know any off the top of my head (because I don't use any) but searching for 'Microsoft Office' or 'Microsoft Excel' in the App Store will get you plenty of results.
Sorry to make you feel that you've wasted your money on Numbers but I think your best option is to get a different app that works better with Excel files.

If you really need to work in excel and you need to collaborate with others in excel you should avoid the frustration and use excel.  I would only recommend using Numbers if you are using it to open a file you do not intend to open in excel again OR if the document is very simple.  If you paycheck or grade depends on Numbers importing or exports from/to excel you should use excel directly.

  • Is it possible to print mailing labels from an excel spreadsheet in Macbook pro?

How do you print mailing labels from an excel spreadsheet on a macbook pro? Is it possible. I can only find information about printing labels from your address book.

Why not ask in MacBook Pro forum, or SL, or even MS community or MacTopia.
Office 2011? pretty easy to setup mailing, just click on ribbon tab, and use the built in help.

    Ok,
    First Rick.
When I get to the box where the choice of skins are, right
    above it, the choices are:

I double checked RoboHelps Help...and it says Robohelp for
    Word 6, Build 99.
    Colum...
Here's what I did (I 'thought', I'd start off simple, lol)...
    1. Start Robo.
    2. Select New Project.
    3. The left panel contains all of the folders (I think its
    called Explorer).
The right panel is the default Helpfile word document that
    contains the 'welcome' message.
    4. I added my spreadsheet to the Baggage folder.
    5. Back at the word document, I just added a simple word
    'excel'.
    6. Then I highlighted 'excel', Insert->Hyperlink...and
pointed it to my excel spreadsheet.
    7. Saved it.
    8. Generated it.
Everything opens up fine in IE. Excel is highlighted blue and
    underlined. But its not clickable.

  • Excel spreadsheets with macro's

    Good day
Excel spreadsheets with macro's created in Windows does not work on my Macbook (excel for mac 2011), even if I enable macro's. I do not create these spreadsheets myself. Cn anyone assist please? Thank you for your time.

    Hi,
As far as I known, the macro/Active X control can be used well with both of the Office 2013 and Office 365.
Would you like to share us a sample file that created in Office 2013? I'd like to test it. You can send it via Email ([email protected]).
If you have any update, please feel free let us know.
    ===========
    Update:
I have received your mail and
attachment. Then, I tested it, I found the probably reason.
You were using ActiveX controls in the sample file, and them displayed 4 tabs in Format control dialog box. Next, you created a new Form control, it displayed 7 tabs.
You were using the two type of controls. ActiveX controls and Form controls
    are different.
    Form controls
Form controls are the original controls that are compatible with earlier versions of Excel, starting with Excel version 5.0. Form controls are also designed for use on XLM macro sheets.
    ActiveX controls
ActiveX controls can be used on worksheet forms, with or without the use of VBA code, and on VBA UserForms. In general, use ActiveX controls when you need more flexible design requirements than those provided by Form controls. ActiveX controls have extensive
properties that you can use to customize their appearance, behavior, fonts, and other characteristics.

  • IMporting Excel Spreadsheets

    Hello
We recently upgraded RH in our company from x5 to HTML 6,
build 099. In a project I worked on with X5, I had imported Excel
spreadsheets saved as html and generated a primary layout without
any problem. However, in 6, when I would generate a layout, it
would get to Updating Files and RH would crash without any error. I
narrowed it down to 10 html files that were all Excel spreadsheets
saved as html and imported into my project in x5. If I deleted
those 10 files, the project would generate the layout. If I
imported any of those files, it would crash again.
To recreate the spreadsheets in RH wold just be too time
consuming, and really inefficient as I expect to get regular
updates on these spreadsheets to have available on this website via
our intranet. Has anyone encountered this before? and
    recommendations?
    Thanks!

Hi BradPrid and welcome to our community
Did these spreadsheet files have any conditional text
applied? If so, I believe a problem exists with merged table cells
(which seem quite likely coming from Excel) when you use
    conditional text.
If you can't seem to sort it, one thought would be to simply
import the Excel HTML files as baggage files. Then simply link to
    them or maybe use redirects.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do I generate a data merge in InDesign from an excel spreadsheet which includes a barcode

Can you please advise if the following process is possible within InDesign CS 5.5? (Mac OS 10.8.2).
We need to create a data merge that includes a barcode. The data merge is for several thousand records.
We have a customer-supplied Excel spreadsheet that contains seven fields, one of which is a number that ultimately needs to print as a barcode when we make the data merge in InDesign.
As you would expect, the conventional six fields data merge perfectly - but we can't find a way to make the barcode print correctly within the data merge.
We have investigated several possible solutions without success.
Some solutions suggest a plug-in for Excel to convert the number into a barcode whilst still in the spreadsheet - but this doesn't come across correctly when we import the CSV file into the InDesign data merge.
We have investigated certain third party software applications but none provide the full solution we require. Some, for example, appear to create the barcode within the Excel spreadsheet but don't produce the barcode correctly when we data merge in InDesign; and some will allow us to create a one-off barcode within InDesign but have no automated way of retrieving the thousands of Excel numbers and turning them into barcodes.
We have also come across possible 'font' solutions but have had no success with these either.
For a previous job we needed to produce we outsourced to a specialist mailing company, who assured us they produced the whole job (very quickly) within InDesign. They, understandably, won't tell us how they did it. But, given the speed with which they produced the job for us, we imagine - with the correct software - the whole process is easy to do.
    Can you please advise?

    HI MIKE
Thanks again for your reply and your help with this.
I've downloaded the barcode font from the link you supplied.
I've tried three tests - and seem much closer to getting what we need. But I've come up against a couple of issues.
TEST 1 - almost just to see if the downloaded font worked, I simply data merged our source csv file and applied the downloaded barcode font to the serial number in ID. Probably unsurprisingly, this produced a perfectly printed barcode - that wouldn't scan.
TEST 2 - I manually added asterisks before and after the serial number in the first couple of fields and then tried the same process as TEST 1. It produced a perfectly printed barcode which this time DID scan correctly - but obviously the barcode had asterisks on it which I don't want. I just want the serial number. And with thousands of serial numbers we need the addition of the asterisks to happen automatically (which is where your text editor process seems the perfect solution, if we could get that to work).
TEST 3 - Noting your comments about using parenthesis around the serial number, I followed your example of (123456). But Excel won't let me type a parenthesis. It lets me type the parenthesis but then instantly substitutes it with a - (hyphen) before the number in the actual serial number cell and no character at all after the number.
If you have any suggestions or solutions for any of the above they'd be gratefully received! Thanks again for all your help with this.
    Kind regards
    Rob

  • Excel 2010 Crashing on .xlsm enabled workbook

    Hi,
I have a workbook that I had been using for over a year with a very simple formatting macro in it.  As of about two weeks ago, adding new data to the spreadsheet causes Excel to crash, rendering the workbook as corrupt.  I have started fresh with
a new workbook and re-recorded the macro at least a dozen times, and it will run once - maybe twice - and then, when new data is put into the workbook, it crashes.  The weird thing is, I have anothe workbook that also has a simple formatting macro
in it and that one runs fine.  Both worksheets get the data from the same source, which is copied and pasted into the workbook with the macro.
    Any ideas?????
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Have you tried some general steps to troubleshoot this issue? For example, Repair Office. If not, please try this KB and check if they are helpful:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2758592/en-us
If this issue still exists, we need to collect the event log to do further troubleshoot.
Steps: Open Event Viewer to check whether there's any error about the Excel/Word crash issue.
Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter. In the Event Viewer, browse to Windows Logs -> Application, there may be some errors after the crash.
To protect your privacy, you may send the error logs to
[email protected], we will try to find the cause.

  • Downloaded office 365 and associated apps onto ipad mini.  How come some excel spreadsheets will not open?

Some excel spreadsheets attached to my emails will not open on ipad.  I have the excel app with 365 subscription.

Can you open them in the mail app itself? If you can't open them in the mail app, my assumption would be that they were not properly saved, named or they are just corrupt file. Files with the .xls or .xlsx extension that are properly formatted Excel files, should open in the mail app without the need for any other app. If you want to save and edit the files, then you need a compatible app in which to save them.

Any solution for preventing converted data (to excel) from crashing - file crashes on a consistent basis.

    Hi Shrinivas,
LabVIEW is getting bug fixes and new features with each version step.
But new features also can bring new bugs - and not all bugs from older versions are fixed by now…
The MixedSignalGraph is a beast of it's own and known to have bugs inside. The one you noticed now is probably one of those.
So it's not your fault your VI terminates rather "unhappy", but most probably NI's fault. You can have a workaround as described in the last post.
If I have to take same data from wire as you mentioned, I need to save the data in some variable
No, you don't need any "variable"! THINK DATAFLOW: the wire is the variable!
I have to write the data to excel file using report generation tool kit or some other way. … Please let me know if I can do it in some other easy methods.
It all depends on the datatype of your data. There are functions to save to spreadsheet files. You can save in binary files. You can create TDMS files , which can be read by Excel too. All those functions are really easy to use - you just have to look at the example VIs coming with LabVIEW!
