I don't understand why apple wouldn't allow a user to tie a switch input directly to a saved custom gesture?
This would allow users so much more capability over how their device functions.

Is possible to give a 5V input to the umi 7764 connector blick for the limit switch inputs

I am using a umi7764 connector block for my 7344 controller. My motion control hardware provides me a 5V output in case the limit switches are enabled. But the umi 7764 connector block connections for the limit swithces are in such a way that it doesnt get any input, instead it has to be directly connected to the limit switches.Is there any way to come around this problem so that the limit switch inputs read the 5v given out by my motion control appplcation

If your drive has individual outputs for the forward, reverse, and home switches, then you could connect these to the their respective terminals on the UMI. You will need to either disable limit functionality on one component (controller or drive) or make sure the limit behavior for the devices does not conflict with each other. It probably is best if the controller handles the limits, but this will depend on your application.
If the drive only has one output to indicate that one of the switches has been activated, then you have fewer options. In this case, you should probably just use the limit protection on the drive and poll that single output with another input on the UMI.

Switch Input Sources Shotcut Fails Occationally

Hi,
I'm using 10.9.4 and I have the need to switch between English and Chinese. I set the select previous input source shotcut to control + shift + spacebar and at first everything works just fine. However, after experience a few times of failures changing input source to Chinese in the middle of using Firefox or Microsoft Communicator, it's kind of annoying and I'm reaching out for a solution.
The annoyance is that when I hit the shortcut in the middle of something, it changes the input source icon to Chinese on the top of the screen, but what I type is still English. If this happens, the shortcut won't work no matter how, until you move the cursor to click the icon and select Chinese Pinyin, gracefully.
This malfunction totally destroyed the pleasure of having the shortcut. Anyone has a fix for this? I appreciate a lot.

After posting the question, I took another look at the shortcut page for input sources, and found that I was only using the shortcut for switching to the previous input source. It comes to my mind that I could use the next source in input menu shortcut and this one seems to be a better choice. I would really prefer to leave the Spotlight shortcut as default, and now I'm using control + , and control + . for previous and next input. Although switching to next lacks the display on the center of the screen as you hold down the switching to previous shortcut, I just hope it won't fail on me.
So far it's working fine.

My HDMI 1080p LCD keeps disconnecting whenever it switches input or turns off

I've connected a new HD LCD to my Intel iMac (Model 10,1) running 10.6.7. I'm facing the problem that whenever I switch inputs in the TV to another HDMI input, or turn the power off to the TV, the iMac things it's been disconnected, and reverts back to only the single iMac monitor. Is there anything I can do to prevent this, so that the iMac thinks that it's on all the time? I've currently got a Mini-DisplayPort to DVI connector, and a DVI to HDMI cable plugged in to the TV. Could this be the issue? If I invest in the Mini Displayport to HDMI directly, will that help? Before I spend on that I'd like to make sure that will help.

It supports audio as well on my 21.5" iMac. I use it to watch iTunes HD movies, and Blu-ray movies as well when switching over to Windows in Bootcamp.

When Contacts is oepend, it's impossible to switch input language with Ctrl-Space.
You have to enter 1 letter and then it is possible to switch layout.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Can't switch input language while in Premiere Pro

Hello,
For some reason I cannot switch input language while in Premiere Pro in the language bar. For example I have 2 input languages, English and Chinese (Google Pinyin). While in Premiere, I click the language tray and switch to Google Pinyin, and the icon switches to indicate how it's Chinese input, however in Premiere I can still only type English.
I know Premiere Pro supports multi language input because while at work I'm able to switch to Chinese input. Does anyone know how to fix this? Both my work and home computer uses Windows 7.

I have friends I like to email in China and in Chinese, however, the recent update to 9.0.1 seems to have blocked my ability to switch input languages from English to Chinese. Is there anyway to fix this to allow me to do input in English and Chinese?

Any way to link a controls' custom shortcut menu to a new .rtm file?

My project programmatically generates controls from a template. The template has a custom shortcut menu that is saved in the project directory, and the generated controls all work fine with this. However, now I need to be able to export the project to other directories/machines, and so now the generated controls can no longer 'find' the .rtm shortcut file, despite it being in the same folder as the control. This means if I want to be able to use the menu I have to open every generated control (which there can be hundreds of) and right-click -> advanced -> run-time shortcut menu -> and then reopen the file.
Is there any way to programmatically link a controls' shortcut menu to a new .rtm file, or is there any way to set a controls' custom shortcut file as a relative path instead of an absolute one?

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

IOS7 Parental controls - disappointing

The "limit adult content" in iOS7 parental controls does a great job cutting out p0rn sites, but it also disallows access to tons of legitimate sites-- political, auto, newspapers, etc. Yes, you can whitelist everything individually, but that is annoying to have to do this across several devices.
How about an option that really limits just adult content as in p0rn, and not what Apple thinks is politically incorrect?

How to create customized gesture recognizer ?

I am currently developing in JavaFX 2.2 a touch-based application requiring some customized gestures. I firstly tried to developed such gestures based on MouseEvent or TouchEvent, but I would like to have them more like "standard" gestures, like swift or zoom. I don't know how to provide such gesture recognizers and hence, hence how to fire specific GestureEvent for that customized gestures.
My first example is a "Cross gesture". If the user draw a cross on a Node with its finger or mouse pointer, I need to fire a CrossEvent to that Node.
Any ideas ?

"standard" custom gesture recognizers are not supported yet: https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-20393
Right now you can subclass GestureEvent and install a touch/mouse event handler/filter that will recognize and fire your custom event. The biggest issue here is that picking is not public yet (https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-20184), so something like "fire the event on the node in the center of the cross" would be pretty cumbersome to implement - would require either remembering the picked target from the original events (not straightforward for mouse dragging where the target is the pressed node, impossible for things like "square gesture" where the original events don't even meet the center point), or re-implementing the picking logic by walking the tree and using methods like contains() (poor performance if you have a lot of nodes).

Does anyone have an idea of how to create custom gestures in DPS?

Have any of you heard if Adobe will be allowing custom gestures (2-4 finger, different directions, unique movements, etc.) in the DPS InDesign software? Or, does anyone have a work around for integrating custom gestures. Here's an example, slide shows swiping that is triggered off an top to bottom gesture vs. side-to-side. Thanks much you guys!-

I created hours, minutes and seconds in three separate layers and lined them up to look like a digital readout (09:07:58PM) For the seconds, I typed in 59, 58, 57 and so on with a hard return after each. Then I keyframed the Y position of that layer to stay static for 1 second, and then increase over the course of 1 to bring up the next number. Then in Keyframe Editor, I chose After Last Keyframe>Progressive. The clock now counts down second by second. You could do the same for minutes and hours if your clock is on screen that long.
