IP Redundancy on 7200's with CPA's

I have 2 7206's with CPA cards Escon attached to an IBM host. I'm trying to get IP failover to work without using EMIF. If I fail one of the boxes, IP rolls over to the second box. When I power that box back up, IP stops working. If I then do a shutdown on the channel (on the box that was initially powered off), IP again works. On the host, they have 2 defaultnet statements, 1 pointing to each CPA port. Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

You should be able to use one IP stack on the mainframe, configured to connect simultaneouslly to the two CPA cards with the appropriate DEVICE and LINK statements, but use the VIPA address option so that the end users are not tied to a particular CPA interface.
There is an example of this at the following URL
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/650/75.html
This has the advantage of using both CPA cards concurrently.

  • What is the usable space of normal redundancy disk group with two uneven capacity fail groups

    Hi,
I have a normal redundancy disk group (DATA) with two uneven capacity fail groups (FG1 and FG2). FG1 size is 10GB and FG2 size is 100GB.
In this case what will be the usable space of the disk group (DATA)? is it 10G or 55G?
    Thanks,

  • Redundancy with dual WLC

Hi, I will implement a WLAN network with AP1130AG and WLC 2125. If I understand right the whole traffic to/from the APs (data + management) will be first encapsulated in a LWAPP tunnel to/from the WLC ? Then, the WLC will forward the different traffic VLANs via a 802.1Q trunk to the network. Is it correct ? If so, the WLC is a true single point of failure ! What will happen if the WLC get out-of-service ? What is the impact on existing client sessions and new ones ? How will a redundant WLC 2125 work with the primary (active/standby with HSRP, load balancing)? What are the best practices in such a network ?
    Thanks

    Hi Jean-Pascal,
In the WLC world this is how an AP is covered in case one WLC fails. It is not without some "downtime" in case of failure but both Controllers are active. You have to keep in mind that an AP can only be registered to one WLC at a time so this is the best that you can do :) When one WLC fails the AP then has to re-register with the backup, this is not a completly seemless process.
    This has some really good info;

  • IPSec for Redundant DMVPN with VRF

    Hi.
I have been labbing up a solution using DMVPN and VRF, similar to that described in the blog post here.  It works very well, however when I try to extend the concept to a redundant hub, it breaks with IPSec.  If I remove the tunnel protection, it works fine.
Does anyone have any ideas about providing IPSec protection to multiple DMVPN tunnels for VRFs to a redundant Hub?
    Thanks.

  • Freezing with Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB

    Hi,
    I have a MBP 07 (2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo) and ordered a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 with 500GB.
I´ve installed Snow Leopard with all the possible updates and I´m having a freezing problem.
Every about 15 minutes I see the beachball for about 2 seconds and the whole system freezes, then the harddisk makes a very strange sound and everything works fine.
So I sent back the harddisk and got a new one, but the same problems with the new one. This is very strange and very bad to work with it.
I´ve tested the harddisk with the harddisk tool, but no problems.
    You can help me?
    Best regards,
    Marc

    Hey Raw,
I posted above you on 11/21, and I actually decided to give my Momentus 500g (with no shock protection, AS only) a go a day or two afterwards. It's been fine for me, no problems at all. I have a mid-08 MB Pro 17" 2.6ghz.
While I know that could change, and I'm willing to see what happens (thanks to SuperDuper and Time Machine backups ready to clone back to my old HDD if necessary), I think that following the steps of setting up the drive properly via Disk Utility (Erase, partition, GUID, etc) is something that makes a difference.
Now that I type this I hope I don't get jinxed. I hope you can find a way to make it work for you. Good luck!

  • Jabber for Windows 10.5 and global redundancy

    Hi All,
I implement J4W 10.5 in a full redundant environment, that contains:
    - 3 x CUCM 10.5
    - 2 x Unity Connection 10.5
    - 2 x IM&P 10.5
    - 2 x Expressway-C 8.2.2
    - 2 x Expressway-E 8.2.2
After testing, I notice that the redundancy/failover does not act the same way depending the product, sometime no.
As it is not clearly stated in the documentation, what is clearly supported as automatic failover, and what's not, when using Jabber for Windows 10.5?
In my first test, I saw that Jabber does not support failover with UnityConnection: if the primary peer is down, no more voicemail on Jabber.
If jabber run in Mobile and Remote Access, and the Expressway where it's conencted goes down, it doesn't switch to the other peer.
It will be good to have a document that relate all the redundancy and failover support with Jabber, what can we expect during the failover process.
It will help a lot of people.
    Thanks
    Gabriel

Yep, that's what I did now.
But keep in mind this is not really explained, even if crossing all the documentations.
There is no document explaining what behaviour to expect in Jabber in case of redundancy of all the UC components.
For the CUCM, it's not clear, and nothing is mentionned in case of MRA.
IM&P is documented, but nothing for MRA.
Expressays states about redundancy, but the behaviour to expect is not. Same for XMPP federation, no idea.
UnityConnection as well, nothing is explained.

  • Can my hp photosmart all-in-one 7200 printer connect to ipad 2 via bluetooth?

I have a hp photosmart all-in-one 7200 printer with a hp blue tooth dongle.  It works well with my cameras, but I cannot get my ipad 2 to recognize the printer.

    Hi,
Printing via Bluetooth from an iPad is not possible due to iOS limitations, as Apple did not include the Bluetooth printing protocol in the iOS.
If your printer is HP Photosmart C7200, you may use the HP ePrint Home & Biz App to print from your iPad through your home network
However for the Officejet 7200 your only option is to look for any available 3rd party printing solution from the App Store.

  • Services with different IP address subnets over CSS 11500 series

    Hi all folks!
I have two CSS 11500 series...
In just a few months i will have ready a DRS (Disaster Recovery Site), where i will have 2 more servers to add to the environment.
But this servers will be in a different subnet from that today i have for the servers who are configured in the current services of my CSS.
So then the doubt i arises is:
Is correct to add two new services with these servers, but using the IP addressing of the DRS site???, and including on the CSS a static route to this network, (of the DRS) in order to reach them?? is it correct, it will work well?
    This would be so....
                 ________________LAN to LAN_____________________
                 |                                                                                |
                 |                                                                                |
    |------SITE A------|                                                        |------SITE B------|
         [Firewall] ===============IPSEC============= [Firewall]
               |                                                                                |
               |                                                                                |
    [CSS-A]-[CSS-B]                                                            [SWITCH]
           |          |                                                                     |         |
         [SWITCH]                                                                    |         |
    [srvA] [srvB] [srvC]                                                          [srvD] [srvE]
So, at [CSS-A] & B, i will put a static route to firewall that know the subnet of site B through the IPSEC tunnel.
So In the CSSs, i will add the new services for the Servers "D" & "E" with the IP address of Site B.
This should be seen as well:
    !*************************** GLOBAL ***************************
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 [IP FIREWALL]
ip route SITE B [IP FIREWALL]
    !************************** SERVICE **************************
    service srvA
      ip address A.A.A.x
      port 8080
    service srvB
      ip address A.A.A.x+1
      port 8080
    service srvC
      ip address A.A.A.x+2
    port 8080
    service srvD
      ip address B.B.B.y
    port 8080
    service srvE
      ip address B.B.B.y+1
    port 8080
I know that this practice is not the most desirable, in fact should use"Basic Global Server Load Balancing Site Redundancy Using the CSS with DNS", but I don't have much time to change the entire environment today, and in this first stage i have to begin with this poor but quick solution that i thought and i wanted to be validated if there is posibliidades this to work
Within their experiences that they say? Will operate?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards!
    Esteban =)

    Daniel!
    Sorry by delay!
Thank you so much for you time for reply.
You have given me a great help to this doubt!
But..using "source group" let me know..
I can´t undertand the really difference between NAT with ACls as you can see at this link: (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/contnetw/ps789/products_tech_note09186a0080093dfc.shtml)
    and
this other link, using NAT (from the piont 5), (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/contnetw/ps789/products_configuration_example09186a0080093dff.shtml)
where the NAT is configured under a method different from the previous one..
So.. for this scenario described above, which would you recommend using? I would think that the second is the most indicated truth? What do you think?
    Thanks in advance again!!!
    Have nice day!
    Regards.
    Esteban.

  • Torch 9860 - Problem with wifi network

    Hi,
I have a BB Torch 9860 and the internet access doesn´t work properly when connected to a wifi connection.
With my carrier data plan, everything works. Every time i connecto to a wifi connection, the internet access stops working. I tried to clean all registered networks, added new networks, everything i can remember of, but nothing works. The only way to get internet access on my phone, is with the carrier´s data plan.
Is this some kind of bug or software block?
I serched through the forum, and tried some of the solutions and sugestions, but nothing works.
The only satisfied part with this purchase so far is my carrier who seems to be very happy with the access through their data plan!
Can anyone give me a hand on this subject?
    Thanks,
    Rui

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Not knowing what you already found and attempted, we risk redundancy...nevertheless, with that risk...
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support. In very rare cases, I have heard of carriers blocking the use of BIS via WiFi...but only they (your carrier) can answer as to if that is what they are doing.
    Oh...wait...another though...a bit of a wild one...please check this:
Article ID: KB30076 How to check for an IT Policy on a BlackBerry smartphone
If you have an IT Policy and are on BES, then talk to your BES admins about if they may perhaps be blocking this. If you have an IT Policy but are not on BES, then you have much bigger problems to deal with...you will need to backup your device, conduct a ResetToFactory, and then restore your device (but ONLY partial...do not do a full restore or it will put the IT Policy back on and you'll be right back where you started).

  • Need files off an old 7200/75 - Please help!

Hi, i've got an old Power Mac 7200/75 with no monitor, no keyboard/mouse, etc. I've been trying to source these items on craigslist and having little to no luck. I figured If i could get it running and go online, I could just email the files to myself since its mostly text files and some low-res image files.
Is there a way to pull the hard drive out and get an adaptor or something to hook it up to G5? Is there any better solution you can offer? I would really appreciate any help!

You will find information about how to open the computer in the user's guide (starting on page 138 in the 030-8844 edition here).
If you wish to give away the computer, it is also possible to erase the hard disk, and then reinstall an operating system. In order to securely erase the disk, use a formatting utility with the ability to overwrite the contents, such as Drive Setup 1.7.3 here (choose "Zero all data" under Initialization Options in the Functions menu). A special program (for example, Wipe Info from Norton Utilities, or the freeware application Burn 2.5) can be used, too.

  • The best RAID level for video editing that has some form of redundancy?

I've been asked to help find the best solution for importing and editing large amounts of HDV (25 Mbit/s) video. However, those whom I am helping also want a level of redundancy that will allow a single drive to fail and their data to be preserved. So what I'm trying to figure out is the best RAID level (or levels) for their need. I'm fairly certain that either 0+1 or 10 is what I'm looking for, however the I/O performance differences between 0+1 and 10 aren't quite clear to me. If someone could explain that to me I would appreciate it. Additionally, if someone knows a better level than either 0+1 or 10 for the needs I described, please don't hesitate to let me know.

The difference between RAID 10 and RAID 0+1 is how the array is created.
RAID 0+1 creates a RAID from multiple RAID 0 arrays that are mirrored.
You can tolerate any number of drive failures in any one side of the mirror (that side of the mirror goes offline as soon as any one disk fails, so it doesn't matter how many other disks fail in the same array), but one drive failure on both parts of the mirror will trash your data.
RAID 10 creates a stripe of multiple RAID 1 mirrors.
In this setup you create RAID 1 mirror sets and stripe them together.
In this setup you can tolerate one disk failure in each element of the stripe.
For example if you have 6 drives you might create three mirrors of two drives each, and each mirror is then striped.
You can lose one drive in each mirror, but if you lose two drives in any mirror set, you're out of luck.
In both cases, though, you're not going to get the best usage out of the array since mirroring has a 50% overhead - meaning you're only going to get 50% of your total disk capacity as usable space.
With the XServe RAID, the RAID 5 performance is very good - good enough for your 25MB/sec throughput so I'd go with RAID 5 arrays, not RAID 0 or 1 on the XServe RAID itself.
Then, depending on your space requirements, you can either stripe or mirror them together for a RAID 50 or 51 array. In this way you gain the data redundancy of RAID 5 with better disk utilization than 10 or 0+1.
RAID 50 will give you the best performance (and the most usable space), RAID 51 will give you the best redundancy.
At the end of the day it's up to you to decide which format to use based on performance and usable space requirements.

  • DLSW ethernet redundancy for multiple vlans

Can dlsw ethernet redundancy support mutliple vlans with the following configuration?
host dlsw router1 host dlsw router2
    | |
local dlsw router 1 local dlsw router2
    | |
    ethernet switch1-------ethernet switch2
Ethernet switch1 and 2 are supporting multiple vlans and connected to local dlsw router1 and 2 through 802.1Q. SNA support is required for the vlans of ethernet switch1 and 2 .
We found that configuration of dlsw ethernet redundancy is not allowed on the 802.1Q sub-interface of the local dlsw router1 and 2. In this case, how can dlsw ethernet redundancy can be supported for SNA server attached to multiple vlans? Can you provide us some reference / sample for dlsw ethernet redundancy to support SNA servers attached to different vlans in a switch environment.
    Thanks.

I think that I understand the problem. I am thinking the following:
    dlsw local-peer peer-id 2.2.2.2 promiscuous
    dlsw transparent switch-support
    interface Ethernet0
    mac-address 0000.3333.3333
    dlsw transparent redundancy-enable 9999.9999.9999 master-priority 10
    dlsw transparent map local-mac 0000.6666.0000 remote-mac 0200.eca2.0000 neighbor 0000.5555.5555
    interface Ethernet1
    mac-address 0000.4444.4444
    dlsw transparent redundancy-enable 9999.9999.0001 master-priority 10
    dlsw transparent map local-mac 0000.6666.0001 remote-mac 0200.eca2.0000 neighbor 0000.7777.7777
Of course, you need an ethernet interface per VLAN. If you need DLSw ER over dot1q interface, please contact the local Cisco Sales Rep or partner. You are not the first one to ask for it. Hope that there is a strong business case to initiate the new feature.

  • Clearing Extra Applications from the "Open With' Menu in 10.5

    Hello,
After installing an HP printer, my 'open with' dialogue is cluttered with lots of HP junk. How can I remove these items on 10.5? I've found a lot of answers for 10.4 and earlier, but nothing that works on Leopard.
    Thanks for any help,
    -Grey

you can try rebuilding the launch services database. run this terminal command
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
this will remove redundant items from "open with".

  • Capacity Plan with Oracle 10g

    Good Day to all,
I've little time working in environments with Oracle databases, I have requested to carry out a capacity plan with Oracle Database 10g for a data warehouse project that is leading the company in which they work. I request to make a plan specifying, among other things: size and number of tablespace and datafiles, projection growth taking into account the initial charge and the charge per week (incremental). The truth is a bit complicated for my inexperience in this kind of sizing requirements we will ask for your valuable cooperation. There are mathematical formulas that allow me to take those projections into account the type of data and their lengths? , There is a standard for creating the tablespace and datafiles?.
In advance thank you for your contributions.

The first thing you need to get management to do is give you two things.
    1. The cost to the organization for downtime, rated in dollars/hour.
    2. The service level agreement for the system's customers.
    3. The amount of data to be loaded into the system and the retention time.
    4. What version of RAID or what ASM redundancy is planned.
With that you can start at the grossest level which is planning for database + archived redo logs + online back files.
I generally figure the database, itself, at about 25% of required storage because I like to have at least two full backups, a bunch of incremental backups, plus all of the archived redo logs that support them. And all on separate shelves.
The number of tablespaces and data files is really just a question of maintenance. Ease of transport. Ease of movement. Ease of backing up.
If you want to get down to the actual sizes of tables and indexes the best place to go is the DBMS_SPACE built-in package. Play with these two procedures:
CREATE_TABLE_COST and CREATE_INDEX_COST which do the job far more efficiently and accurately than any formulas you will receive. You can find demos
    of this capability here: http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/dbms_space.html.
