Ipad 1, sucker-punched
I have enjoyed my original IPad 1 for 3+ years. I have praised this device every chance I get. Since my loyalty and un compensated marketing of your product, 11 members of my family have purchased the iPad. Sadly, 1of11 was a 3. I am highly disappointed in the Apple customer support for a perfect device that showed no age. $800+ is not expendable cash for most of us to put out every few years. Apple should offer a modified IOS 6 to support IPad1 technology. They know how many of us are out there.
Are these different model iPads? I am not clear as to why 10 don't work and one does.
If you're talking about iOS6 not supporting the iPad1, here's my 20 year story. My Mac SE wouldn't run OS7.6, my Mac IIcx wouldn't run OS8.1, my Quadra 610 wouldn't run OS 8.6, my Power Mac G3 was not really happy with OSX 10.3, my G4 is still going strong with OSX 10.4.11 (and supports an incredible 7 versions of Mac OS, 9-10.5) won't run anything higher than 10.5.8. I will likely replace it with an early Intel model which might well top out at OSX 10.6.
I also drive a 30 year old car for which I can no longer get parts since US law only requires the dealers stock them for 20 years.
My wonderful Olympus Zuiko lenses which cost me $1000 won't fit on any of the digital Olympus cameras and sit in a box in the basement.
Anything new with the march of technology?

I literally just downloaded this movie,called "Sucker Punch", I wanted to watch it while it downloaded and it was doing fine for the first maybe 2 minutes if that and then I would pause it when it started skipping thinking I was letting it buffer, but then when i tried to resume by using my clicker on my headphones nothing would happen. I proceeded to tap the screen thinking something was up with my headphones and nothing happened. I held the home and lock button to boot and then it came back on eventually but did the same exact thing but this time it just crashed completely and restated itself. My WiFi single is strong and everything else using the WiFi is working perfectly. This is very aggravating . Any clue or help?Hello, BRIABUNNI.

Here are a couple resources that have some helpful troubleshooting steps for this issue. These are labeled for the iPhone, but the steps will also apply for the iPad.
Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.

Ipad 2 movie is not start download.
I bought a movie and it will not download. I have 20 gb left on the iPad (ipad2)
I have tried to twist it off and on but it does not help.
plis help meI'd like to apologize in advance for the upcoming rant, but is I feel I big problem with iTunes purchasing in general!
This is a reacurring problem for me as well, in fact I have never been able to successfully purchase and download a movie on mybipad. Last time it happened I got a refund from apple and they told me to download from my computer and sync to the iPad. (useless solution if you are away from home)
There seems to be an issue with downloading HD or SD version, so I tried both today (sucker punch in SD and priest in HD) but none of them will download.
Basically there doesn't seem to any real solution for this other than not purchasing movies on an iPad and syncing them from a computer instead, in which case you might as well just torrent a movie and sync the .avi file to Oplayer app.
So app,e, if you're listening, fix it! There are too many other ways of downloading movie content on a computer for it to make sense to purchase a movie in iTunes, wait for the download to finish, plug in my iPad, wait for sync, and then watch it. That's not very mobile. (what ever happened to the whole pc-free iOS 5!)
Again sorry for my maniacal rant.

If you go over them you'll notice that, using find, some of the entries are out of order but I haven't figured out what the problem is. If I only wanted to do this for my movies folder that would be fine and I would just use ls -a but I would prefer to do it for my entire external HDD which also has ~11000 songs on it from hundreds of artists so I would hate to do it for each directory. Is there either some way I can do this easier or some other command (I've been told to look into glob but I can't figure out how to use it) that would do it better? Note: I get the same result from using
find . -type f > ./FILES
as well.

Why should I go to shared data plan ?
Well, the red devil ******* the pooch this time, the forums are lighting up with news from the 'leak' about shared data plans. Again CS reps were ignorant of it all and made it all more confusing by not knowing anything about it although it was/is their employers fault for not 'training' them. But I have another theory, OK either Satan (the red one) wants us to know and is just probing us for feedback, OR there's a mole inside who wants us to have a timely 'heads up' to rally a response. Nah, evil is evil, greed is greed, corporate america has neither shame nor conscience so they just wanna know how mad we'll get when we see what they have in store for us. A little time to 'warm up' to the idea of being pillaged. You know, just get use to it and suck it up. That is the 'humane' way . . right ? Better than an OUTRIGHT sucker punch. Nothing 'leaks' without someone in charge wanting it to leak. I had thought I might consider the shared plan, but DO THEY REALLY THINK WE WANT TO PAY MORE FOR LESS ? HELLO . . .CORPORATE IVORY TOWER . . . ANYONE HOME IN THERE ? I bet you can call 10 times and get 10 different answers. Problem is that Verizon tells their phone people absolutely nothing.
And no doubt that the whole thing is a money maker. After running the numbers it looks like only those already with unlimited talk/text and mostly low data smartphone users will benefit. The new 8GB Share Everything plan for 4 smartphone users and 8GB of data is about $40/month cheaper than the current unlimited talk/text plans with 4 smartphone users that have 2GB each. Pretty much everyone else will only break even or actually pay more. -
Different versions of logic studio?
Hi people! It's my first time posting here.
I have a question to ask. You see, I bought the logic express just before the logic pro standalone version was released and I feel like I had been sucker punched hard in the guts. I'm looking to upgrade my logic express from the prev apple offerings of upgrading to logic studio. My question is which is the latest version offered before the standalone logic pro was announced? Or is there even such thing as an apple logic studio 2? I've compared the specs and both seemed to be offering the same specs and etc.

Hi,
I have about four labview files which have outputs that must go into a single VI with only one input. The problem I have is labview will not let you wire multiple sources into a single sink. I have a state machine setup where it goes through a its routine until it reaches the four VIs which must output their value one at a time to another VI (which only accepts source at a time). I can control which output must be sent out first, second etc. But I can't figure out how to wire them.
I have attached a sample vi which shows what I am trying to do. Keep in mind that these files are already in a state machine I am not sure how to add a state machine within a state machine without confusing the hell out of myself.

The VERY top level VI which you might be interested in is called "Phase to Test" located in the pre determined folder. However, I feel you should look at "Test Variables.vi" which is also located in the same folder.
Inside Test Variables.vi under the "True" statement you should see another conditional case which is the state machine structure. You will want to be in the "Get Value" state which has Numeric 1, 2, 3, and 4. These are the four values must go into "Display Value" one at a time.
I have attached a spreadsheet called "sample" the "Phase To test.vi" will read this spreadsheet and pass what it reads in column 0 to test variables which will read the value it has been passed to check if any of the stored names matchs which it read it will then pass this matched value to the subvis who will then compare it 1 more time to make that it matchs their case at which point it will instruct the instrument to run a command and proceed to the next row and repeat the same procedure until an "END" value is read from the spreadsheet at which point it will hop out of the state machine and move on to the next phase.
I hope you are not sucker punched by all of this as it is quite easy to get lost.

Volume issues with some itunes movies
I just downloaded the movie Sucker Punch, but when i play it on itunes the volume is very low. i don't have that problem with downloaded music, just with some movies and it's not the first time it happens, this has happened multiple times in the past.
all my softwares are up to date as far as i can tell, itunes 11.0.4, on a mac OS X 10.6.8 with 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo.
It a bit frustrating because i can't seem to do anything about it, which renders itunes movie store pretty useless to me.
Please help..

This can happen depending on how the media was created. However, there is a solution. Most media volume can be adjusted by selecting the media, either control click or select the file menu from the menu bar and choose Get Info. From there you can select the options tab and adjust the volume. I have attached a screen shot of the process for reference.

Massive download with all apps closed!

My ISP called me last week asking questions about massive download (86 Gigs in 16 days).
To make the story short, I had to flash my router with Gargoyle firmware to discover that my iPad is sucking up all the bandwith. That's where the story is becoming weird. No apps is running, iCloud is off and no notification is activated. Even after a reboot it restart downloading. I don't know what the iPad is downloading but thank's to Gargoyle firmware, I know from where it's downloading:

I blocked the iPad with my router's firewall, preventing it to connect to internet but letting it connected to the router. Gotcha! A beautifull popup showed :''a problem with movies download..., stop, retry''. If you have any download with the app ''Movies'', even with it closed, it will continue the download....
I will keep an eye on iPad log anyway because ''Movies'' cant explain the 86 gigs of download by itself...

How can I retrieve my calendar info that was sucked from my iPad 2 after upgrading to OS V and backing up to iCloud (using Windows XP computer with Outlook)?
I think (and I'll double check) only the BBLink events will sync on a wired USB sync. I'm fairly certain of that.
You'll need to use your calendar syncing via an EAS email account (outlook.com, for instance, is free) to sync wirelessly. It works great. I use it and was a former tied to the USB sync guy as well... and I thought I was gonna die a painful death without it. I found more freedom this way.
This explains the process. But I don't think you'll get BBM Groups to sync.

My iPad stops connecting to my home wi-fi. My Macbook and iPhone are fine. I have tried everything suggested. This happened last week and I was able to reset the settings. Today I have spent over one hour trying to reset my network connections. My son was here today and his new iPad connected OK... mine was working earlier today. What must I do now? I am going to take it to work tomorrow and see if it connects to the Wi-Fi there.
This may help explain the WiFi issue. I have the 3G/WiFi version and have problems with WiFi connections also.

IPad sucking up cell data at an alarming rate

This issue has been driving me crazy for about six months now, I could really use some help in nailing this down.
It appeared to start last Fall, around October. I started to notice that my iPad's cellular usage had increased dramatically. I had been buying 1GB at a time, and it had been lasting me 10-12 weeks. Now it seemed I’d go thru 1GB in two weeks. Generally speaking, the balance of my iPad use between “on WiFi’ and “on cellular” hadn’t changed. The only things systemically that had changed was I had become active on Twitter and Google+, and iOS 8 had been released.
The first thing I did was shut off cellular usage for Twitter and Google+, but that didn’t make a difference. Indeed, as I studied the problem (it was hard to ignore), I noticed that frequently, while doing nothing with my iPad, it just sitting in my bag with the cover closed as I drove from one place to another, I’d use up 10-15MB in 20 minutes.
When I looked at the cellular usage statistics in Settings, “Documents and Sync” (which could be more vague, but it would take some effort) seemed to be where the biggest usage was. I spoke with an Apple Store Genius, and while she couldn’t find a specific culprit, she recommended I reset my iPad and then restore from a backup. That seemed to help, in that I went thru 1GB in a month rather than two weeks; but I still got that weird effect where I would use up a huge chunk doing nothing. I started turning off cellular usage for anything for which it wasn’t essential, did the same for location services, background app refresh, and shut off Find My iPad. Not a noticeable change.
About a month ago, I bought a new iPad Air 2 (I was gonna do that anyway). I was really hoping it was some hardware thing on my old iPad, and the new one would be OK. I built the Air 2 up as new (i.e., not from the backup of the old one), even gave it a new, unique name. But I still find it using dozens of MB doing nothing when I spend any time away from WiFi.
But not always, and that’s the inconsistent, hardest to understand part. A good example was yesterday. I had an errand to run that involved making the same 25-minutes-in-each-direction drive, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. In the morning, I used my iPad to listen to a radio station stream. When I got home, I had used up about 8MB (that actually seemed low, to be honest). When I did the second trip in the afternoon, I took my iPad, but it was in my bag, with the cover on, the whole way. When I got home I’d used up 50MB.
The thing that’s kinda bugging me in the back of my mind is that he only things consistent through all the various attempted solutions and iPads, are iOS 8 and my iCloud account. I can’t help feeling something syncing to iCloud (or some other iOS 8 thing) is the cause of all the extra usage. (At one point, I thought Safari was responsible; I notice that the spinning gear in the status line seems on whenever Safari is active, even after the page I'm viewing apparently completes loading. I shut off cellular for Safari, but it didn't seem to fix it. If someone can address this, I'd appreciate it as well.)
Can anyone offer any advice at all? I would really like to find some way of stopping, or at least slowing down, this apparently-excessive cellular usage. Or at least understand where it’s coming from. I’m sophisticated enough to follow diagnostic instructions, Terminal-friendly, etc., so if there’s some tool I can use on my iMac when my iPad’s plugged in, or some such, I should be able to handle it.

If you read my posts, you may infer that in the back of my mind has been the annoying suspicion that this was somehow an iOS/iCloud issue, based on the timing (the problem appeared just last fall, almost immediately after iOS 8 was released), and the persistence despite restore/rebuilds and even a new iPad.
iOS 8.3 was released April 8. My "incidental" cellular usage dropped precipitously immediately afterwards. Look at this, my cellular usage for April, according to Data Usage:

I don't want to jinx it, but it looks like something in the 8.3 release fixed my problem, whatever it was. This is the kind of usage I'd been used to seeing through last Summer.
So. Is there someone out there who reads this and is (a) familiar enough with iOS to understand how and when cellular data is consumed, and (b) is familiar enough with the 8.3 release — and the changes it comprised — to take a shot at explaining what may have been going on?
I'm happy to just shut up and accept that it's fixed , but I am curious.

As a continuation above, who are the people who have been praising Apple to the heavens? For those of us who aren't tech-savvy, Apple totally blows. There is next to nothing intuitive about their products and they seem giddy about giving their customers extra steps for everything. Why can't I sync my iPhone seamlessly? Why do I always run the risk of deleting my music when I want to sync? Why are there so many steps in creating ringtones? Why does the right-click on the mouse have so few options? Why do I have to click upwards of twenty times on desktop icons to get the file to emerge? Again, I'm not a techie but it seems that Apple is made for people with master's degrees in software programming. I've spent a small fortune on Apple products because Microsoft has become a lumbering dinosaur populated by zit-covered nerds with no concept of how the general public works. Do I go back, especially with that abortion, Windows 8? Or do I wait for the next iteration since Microsoft can only create a decent product with every other release?
I'd like to know what others think. Granted, I'm upset right now, but I've been getting more and more frustrated with Apple. We need a third company out there, kinda like a third political party.why do i even bother posting on this.. i just got a correct response from the help team. yes i can do something about it. get a new processor, exchange, sell or replace. that's the answer i was looking for.
i CAN do something about it, just like i could with my windows laptop, iphone and old ipod. It's sorted.
I got the response I was looking for. It's not an issue. New models come out all the time, i agree, but i have exchanged and sorted this out every time, like my iphone 4 to the 4S. and an apple advisor helped me with this.
My question was a genuine question - and funnily enough - the Apple helpline thought it was too.
