I tried uppdating my ipad then it went into recovery mode. I thought "oh no problem, my phone has done this before". So, I hooked it up to iTunes and started to restore/update it, but when the update began, it said it would take 24 hours to download. Already abnormal. Then, the number kept rising higher and higher until it got to 300 HOURS. Then, once it reaches a certain 300, it says "connection failed. please check to see that you have a working connection or try again later" or something like that. So, my iPad is now stuck in recovery mode and I can't exactly talk to people now. What do I do?
Hello aZaa4401
Sorry to hear about your issue. I would start your troubleshooting with the article below to check to settings of your computer to make sure your connection is good to the iTunes Store.

Forgot the passcode to my ipad. When I went to restore it, it asked me if I wanted to update the software so I said yes. It then went into recovery mode, I'm guessing, with the connect to iTunes showing on the screen. Now iTunes will not recognize it so I have no idea how to get it back! Help!!
Then you will need to try restoring it once more:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information. -
yesterday i tried updating to Ios 8. i new there were going to be some problems but i decided to do it. i started the update and less than a half hour into it my phone completely crashed.it went into recovery mode so i connected it to iTunes. i hit restore and update . it gave me and estimated time that kept going up. finally when it got to 800 hours it stopped and said an error occurred. i tried it again and the same error occurred. i am very disappointed in this because i greatly need my phone for school and other important things. i wasn't gonna wait that time anyway. i would like to know if there is anyway i don't have to update, get out of this screen without waiting forever, speed up the time, or get my computer to not crash when it gets to so many hours. (i have windows) plz help me out asap!!!
I have experienced a similar error with the iPhone 4S. The new version of iTunes will not let me restore the phone, it must be updated and nothing appears to be happening. Suffice it to say I am not amused. Apple needs to work this out - I had trouble updating to 8.0.2 as well.

I have an ipad 2, yesterday I updated my ipad going in to settings software update, then the ipad went into resore mode saying it needs to connect to itunes. I did that and itunes said it was goingo to do a resotre and I lost all my info, pictures, contacts. Is there a way to recover all my info?
You should be able to reconnect to iTunes and then you should see an option to restore to your ipad from your last back up in iTunes.

Plug it into iTunes and restore it with your backup. You should have a backup in iTunes or iCloud.

But every time i try and get out it just loops back to the itunes and cable logo. is there anyway i can get out without restoring and or losing the files inside the ipad. or is there a way to access the files while in recovery mode. thanks in advance or the help.I have experienced a similar error with the iPhone 4S. The new version of iTunes will not let me restore the phone, it must be updated and nothing appears to be happening. Suffice it to say I am not amused. I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.something (something about the speakers) to get rid of a notification and it went into recovery mode!!! My photos are not backed up or on icloud. i havent restored yet because i cannot lose my photos/videos, etc. but tinyumbrella wont work to exit recovery mode. HELP! please:(
i tried tinyumbrella (and another similar software) to exit recovery but it only remains on the apple logo stuck there. please is there anything else i can do? i've contacted apple and they have told me the only choice i have is to restore and lose all my data.
my iphone isn't jailbroken and i've updated before without this problem so i'm not sure what has happened. is there anyyy hope please ???First I would try to hold down the power and the home button for about 15sec, but at least as long as the iPhone restarts, if it is still stuck or still in recovery mode then I can suggest you the tool "Wondershare Dr. Fone for iOS", it is both a Windows and Mac tool and I just used it today to get my iPad out of the Recovery mode.
Tell me if any of these options worked for you. -
My Iphone 3GS went into recovery mode while I was trying to update to the iOS 6.1.2
My Iphone 3GS went into recovery mode while I was trying to update to the iOS 6.1.2
I need help fast. I'm on call and this is my only phone. It finally restored. I saw that a couple folks said they kept trying and finally got restored. So I decided to keep trying and retrying while I researched the techno routes folks described--DFU, tinyumbrella, and scary programming processes. I decided I'd rather put my sim chip in one of our old iphones and take mine to a shop than suffer through a bunch of complication. I switched to Apple b/c I got tired of playing programmer. I digress. After a few minutes itunes would drop my phone from dashboard yet continued showing the checking with Apple...status. So I repeatedly force-quit itunes, restarted phone, unplugged and plugged back into computer. Each time I'd do whatever itunes prompted then walk away. After about an hour of this, for no apparent reason, it went directly into recovery. Didn't lose any photos but did have to reinstall most of my apps. It has to be an Apple network issue related to this particular upgrade.

I have a 4S and just tried updating to the latest iOS version and my phone went into recovery mode and iTunes says I need to restore to factory settings. Anyone know how I can fix my phone without losing all my content?
You would only be able to restore to a backup to iCloud or iTunes:

Hi, I recently updated my IOS and backed up on itunes. In the process I lost all my apps on my phone. If I use the back up option on itunes, will it restore my iphone to my old IOS? Please help!
If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

I tried to update to ios 7.0.1 and my iphone 5 went into recovery mode and said i had to plug it in to itunes so i did and it restored to factory settings and i lost everything and i am pretty sure i dont have anything backed up on iCloud.. Is there anyway i can recover anything? I had over 1,000 pictures and 500 contacts and now i have nothing.
Then you have no data from which to backup, I'm afraid.
This would be a good time to review the User Guide and learn how to use your phone as recommended so data loss like this doesn't happen again.
Best,

I went into recovery mode - and keep receiving error 4005 - tried different usb, computers, did all updates possible nothing helps, my iphone screen shows apple logo and constant waiting circle
Same here. I tried to update my iPhone 5S and iPad 4 to 7.1 but iTunes wiped out them. This thing already happened for iOS 7.0.6 update. What happened to Apple? I am really curious whether Apple is aware of this problem.

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?
Please help. You don't you must restore your phone first and then you will have the option to restore from your backup.
