IPad downloading all old mail

Is there any way to make my iPad stop downloading all of my old email from the mail server? It keeps downloading old mail that I have read on my desktop already,

This is one way to keep a ton of messages from cluttering up your inbox/inboxes on your iPad.
You can set up your mail so that it will only show a certain number of recent messages on your iPad. Go to Settings, then to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars tab, click on it and you can select how many recent messages that you want the iPad to display. The minimum is 25, then 50, etc.
When you go to your mail, if you have more messages available on your server that can be viewed, it gives you the opportunity to download the rest of the messages at that time. You scroll all the way down to the bottom of the inbox and you will see .... Load More Messages ... and it shows that more emails are available to download.

In Mail, select the File -> Preferences menu. Click on Accounts in the toolbar. Select your gmail account on the list on the left and press the Advanced tab. Uncheck the Enable This Account box. That should do it.

IOS 8.1 Does Not Download All iCloud Mail/ Keeps Cache?

I have setup and enabled an iCloud e-mail account on all of my devices and was successfully able to use the Mail app in Mac OS X Yosemite to copy mail from my Yahoo! inbox to my iCloud inbox. All e-mail copied from Yahoo! Mail appears in the OS X Yosemite Mail app as well as in the iCloud.com site, however, my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5 both running iOS 8.1 does not download all of the mail from iCloud. I have tried the following on both iOS 8.1 devices with no success.
- Disable iCloud mail and re-enable
- Sign completely out of iCloud and sign in again, then reconfigure all iCloud services including mail
The result of both steps is that the incomplete list of e-mail in the iCloud inbox just reappears in the Mail app instead of downloading from iCloud again. It looks like the incomplete list of e-mail is stored on the iOS device and signing out of or disabling iCloud mail just hides it; re-enabling or signing in merely shows it again. This appears to work differently than my Yahoo! Mail configuration where if I sign out of or delete the Yahoo! account and reconfigure, iOS downloads a fresh copy of all e-mail in the inbox and all other folders. Here are my two questions:
- How do I get my iPhone and iPad Air 2 to download ALL e-mail from my iCloud mail account?
- Are my suspicions true? Does iOS actually store a cached copy of iCloud mail on the device when the service is disabled and just "redisplays" it when re-enabled?

I had the same problem. My iCloud it's a mess since the iOS 8.1 update.
Probably your iCloud isn't working too.

Mail not downloading all e-mails from hotmail

Hi,
I have a MacBook pro 15inch running latest updates on OSx lion. I am having a real problem with mail application and my hotmail account. I have setup the hotmail account in mail and it downloads any new mails I receive but it does not sync any of the sent mails.
I also have an iPad which I use to send and receive emails and every time I reply someone using the iPad, there is no record of it on my mac if I replied to that person or not. Whereas if I reply to anyone using the mac, iPad shows all sent mails in sent folder.
Another problem I had (which is not currently main issue) is that occasionally it asked to put your password in for iCloud and hotmail account even if i check save to keychain.
Is there any way I can get my mac to sync all folders from my hotmail to mac? iPad does it with no problem..

I'm having the same issue and have tried deleting the account and adding again but I only have emails that came in yesterday after Mavericks installed. My thousands of emails from the server did not load. They are everywhere else but on the updated Mavericks computer.

Restored my iPad marking all old emails as unread

I restored my iPad. Now my hotmail email account is downloading all my old emails and marking as unread. Is there any way to stop this? Thanks

I am having a very similar problem on my E71 on v400 firmware.
Sycing still works but since yesterday lots of old emails from various dates in various folders have become showing as unread. Giving me a notification on every sync for about an hour as more and more mails were marked as unread.
I'm currently going through the mails and marking them as read and hoping this doesn't happen again.

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

Mavericks Mail isn't downloading all Exchange mail

My Mavericks Mail client is behaving strangely with Exchange. Its not downloading all my email. I am only seeing the last couple of days. If I open Outlook 2011 or webmail, I see everything. What gives?

Ive got the same problem. Not downloading past emails, expect the past couple of days. Still havent figured out whats wrong?

Iphone downloaded all old apps without warning last night

Last night without warning I was given a message that my account was temporarily unavailable. Within minutes of that warning over 30 apps appeared on my iphone and started downloading. It appears the are all old apps I downloaded days, weeks and months ago. All apps I have since removed from my phone. So now after hours of waiting for these to download as there was no way to cancel them, many of my paid apps on my phone have disappeared as well.
What the hek is going on?
Please help apple.
How do I fix this and get all my paid apps back and remove the crap that was downloaded.
Also .. why did this happen?

Not sure how that happened since I've never experienced the same with any of my various iPhones beginning with the original.
Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer and/or there are a number of free email accounts that support over the air syncing for contacts and other data such as with an Apple iCloud account, Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail.
Where did your contacts originate with the iPhone? Were all contacts manually entered one by one, imported from a SIM card used with another cell phone, or transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process?

All old mail lost

I opened up my mac Mail software and it showed the setup window like it had never been started before, so I entered the information and then all my sent and received email disappered... how do I get all my mail back... also when I try to save any password in any software... mac mail or fetch it says that "keychain 'login' cannot be found to store 'myname'". please help.

You also need to check the free space on your hard drive, or if partitioned, on the boot partition. The issue you report can result from lack of disk space on the boot volume, and which can lead to overwriting the preference files for Mail.
Normally, if this happens, and you re-enter the account setup info, and then DECLINE to import anything, Mail will rediscover the account folder(s) and be back to normal.

Can't download all old .Mac/Me messages to Mail

Hello,
Trying to deal with the move to iCloud... I'm trying to backup all of my online .Mac/Me messages onto my Mac but not all of the messages are downloading from the In box. The messages that were moved into folders (left sidebar) seem to be okay--at least I can drag them into a folder in (Snowleopard) Mail. I've run the "get mail" a few times. Still, some old messages circa 2007 in MobileMe don't download into my desktop Mail. Since there is no "in box" in Mobileme, there's no such folder that appears on the Mail sidebar and so I can't just drag them either. It seems to be random messages, and considering that there are thousands in the account, not sure how to deal with this and ensure its all backed up. Any ideas? Thanks!

Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
- Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

Added Gmail as POP to Apple Mail now downloading all old emails.

Is there any way to stop downloading old gmail emails, or get them to download faster. If I use my iPhone 4 it just downloads my new e-mails from gmail. However, I added my Gmail account to my iMac Apple Mail s a POP account and now it is downloading every email that I have ever received in Gmail. So far over 5000 messages about seven at a time and I am only up to December 2007!
Any help would be appreciated.

On closer inspection there is an option on the Gmail POP setting page (in Gmail) to choose "Mail from today"!!!!! Moral of story is to RTFM

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

GMAIL Pop and Apple Mail 4.2: Doesn't Download all New Mail at Once

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone encountered this issue. I currently use GMAIL and am popping my mail onto my Mac Mail 4.2. Everything seems to be working fine except that when I download new mail, it downloads it in small chunks. It doesn't grab all the new mail all at once.
So for example: I check GMAIL web and I know I have 10 new mail messages.
When I click "Get Mail" in the Mail app, I get 3 new messages. I click on "Get Mail" again, and then it gets 4 new messages. And then I do it again, and then it gets the final 3 messages.
Is there a reason why it does this? Is this a GMAIL config or Apple mail config issue?

First of all, confirm that you have set the Gmail account up as POP -- the default in Mail 4 when newly setting one up is IMAP, but POP setup can be accomplished. If the account was the result of earlier version, and merely now the result of an Upgrade Snow Leopard, then previous setup as POP should have carried over. Open Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information to confirm Account Type.
Then via browser access to your Gmail POP/IMAP settings, confirm that the appropriate Enable selections have been made.

New iPad downloading all purchases

Just got my new iPad (3) and did a restore from the cloud to get the set up and data from my old iPad (1). It is now trying to redownload pretty much everything I have ever bought on iTunes. Anyone know how I stop this? All the music, apps and video I have set up to be on the iPad is already there.

OK, combination of my son helping and some answers to similar question enabled me to work this out.
After doing initial restore from Cloud I then plugged the new iPad into my imac and did a sync there. Everything fixed itself so I can go to bed and sleep easy

Can't see mail in inbox, all old mail gone, can't press import

Hi there,
I've got a few problems here.. and seeking help..
First of all i upgraded from panther to tiger
But now I can't see my mail in my mailbox, i've read al the previous post about this, a common problem. But the thing is I can't press the import button, it's grey, so i'm doing something wrong here i guess.. but what. (did the all copying the mbox files on the desktop so i can import them thing)
Further on there is mail on my server (I can see it in the info of the server). But the mail isn't showing in my inbox...
Please help me?
